Wish I’d seen all these bad reviews sooner!
Made a reservation via booking.com (100% refundable up until 24 hours before check in). I cancelled the booking a week before the stay as checked the hotel’s website and it was cheaper to book direct. Received confirmation of my cancellation with a note that no fee was chargeable.
Cut to a week after the hotel stay and Booking.com charge me £70! They have agreed to refund it but it took 3 days of painfully slow responses to get it sorted and it won’t be returned for another 7+ days. And still no explanation as to why this happened. Will not use them again and will warn people off them.
