This is syrupy sweet and at worst, smells like potpourri. It rends me of a fruit liquor with a bit of subtle spice. It's a bit overly sweet for me.

jessetn

i want my wife to smell like this

indigo

Super sweet syrupy fruit note overlying a really very strong woody aroma-chemical. Overall it smells sticky & muddly, & that overwhelming “woody” synthetic (whatever it is) is off the scale strong. In combination with so much sweetness, it smells a bit cheap. It gave me a headache, & I could still smell it after scrubbing twice - so I can say longevity is good.
I think this is pretty awful really, it smells like a bad knock off of TF Black Orchid imo…I won’t be in hurry to sample any thing else from this brand.

Eau de Claire

This should be called Plum Noir! It's a spicy plum with woodiness and the sweetness from the white chocolate. It's not the strongest or most long lasting fragrance but the price point means I'd happily overspray!
If you like Marc Jacobs Decadence or the richness of Jo Malone Pomegranate Noir, you'd love this!

I got a 10ml of this and will definitely be buying a larger bottle.

Glitterngold

I get a dark plummy woods straight away but as it dries down is when the magic happens. That chocolate really comes through with the plums & floral. Its gorgeous. Has good sillage for a couple of hours then remains close to skin. I do tend to favour dark fruit scents but still im surprised how much i love this, probably because the other Shay & Blues iv tried have been under whelming.
It is a while since Iv smelled blackberry bay by Jo Malone but that is what i was instantly reminded me of. Not an exact scent but same realm. I can see me wearing this loads in the Summer evenings into Autumn

Featherblossom

I actually really like this one! The initial spray is a little overpowering but the dry down really lets out the white chocolate and plum notes. It is kind of artificial but it still seems to suit my skin chemistry. I think this one would be great to wear in summer. It lasts really well too, unlike some of the other Shay&Blue scents I tried.

GrenadeGirl

My daughter loves this, and the late chocolate and woody notes smell gorgeous on her, but I have to say I walk away from the tops notes when she sprays it because I find them difficult as a combination.

On me, sadly, it was a scrub. I wanted to like it because it smells so great on her, but I just couldn't get past the first 30 mins.

It's not awful at all and certainly a great price point, likely just not for me.

Ofw

Got this in an advent calendar. Very pleasantly surprised! Quite gourmand - definitely get plumb and white chocolate. Don’t smell any florals. Not unique but nice!

amandawilliamspalmer

Plesant. Like Black Orchid on a diet.

This is very reminiscent of a few fragrances that I have, not a copy not a very similar scent, but something in the same vein. It sit within that same dark floral area that Tom Ford has some of his fragrances; I like it a lot; I think with these Shay & Blue fragrances need to be ‘deeper’ they smell great but they only stick around for a short while. If they lasted longer than 5hrs then I’d give it such a high score.

Initial scent: 7.5/10
5.5/10 - but because longevity and sillage have less puff than a 90 year old asthmatic blowing an Alpine Horn

Slightly boozy and white floral feeling to begin, the powdery white chocolate is detectable but I would not have know what it was without the notes, it not as sweet as caramel but still that artificial sweetness. This moves towards a slightly bitter edged, but artificially sweetened children's medicine for me after just a few minutes. It doesn't smell like it, but this gives me memories of the aftertaste of orange Calpol, I think of being ill. I wasn't expecting that. The florals stay and deepen and actually add to why I don't like this, they are mixing with the plum and unidentifiable for me but white and heady but not piercing.

Really not one for me at all, this actually makes me feel a little sick and gives me a headache.
To be fair, it is interesting though. Maybe it would smell nicer on someone else and at a distance? Ironically it's reasonably strong and long lasting for Shay and Blue which are usually quite weak and short lived.

Arcanethings

I've just bought the 10ml size of this to try and mostly I'm enjoying it upon my first couple of sprays. However, is anyone else getting iso e super or ambroxan in this? I think it's one or the other, or another similar molecule. It's the same annoying tin like screech that's in 4160 Tuesdays The Sexiest......I wish whatever it is wasn't there in either as they would both be much better without in my opinion.
ETA: I have decided after a few wears that I really don't like this after all - sadly this was after I bought a larger bottle thinking that I did. I really don't know what possessed me. I'll be giving this one away.

sazmattaz

I get the plum and white chocolate very strongly from this - totally gourmand, not floral to me at all. It's an intriguing combination, cosy and comforting but versatile enough to be a scent for all seasons. I'd definitely say this is more feminine leaning, I can see this being a very popular and safe scent for a Mother's Day/birthday gift. I found the more I wore this, the more cloying the sweetness got, so it wouldn't be full bottle worthy to me. Still, probably my favourite from the Shay & Blue collection that I've tried!

amyaz

I like it, it's almost like a touch of spice is in there too somewhere.
I've never smelled any of the 3 flowers listed but the perfume smells light and plummy with a tiny hint of sweetness and floral. Sillage is a let down, I really have to have my face up to my wrist to smell it after 30 minutes.
I could definitely agree with the "smells like plum tea" comment! A good scent vibe for a rainy day.
I enjoy it but not sure if it's worth $70 considering the poor sillage.

tippytee

I get apple-plum potpourri that fared fine for chilly New England fall days but really wasn't anything to my liking. No white chocolate, just some background sweetness.

Helenen

Absolutely divine. Sweet and rich without being sickening or overpowering. Both elegant, comforting and sexy to me.
I rarely like the typical sweet perfumes like Black Opium or similar, but I absolutely love this.

JinjuDee

I adore this perfume as it's tied to memories of a trip to Seoul in 2015. I originally bought a small solid perfume from a korean makeup brand in Korea that was almost identical to this and spent ages looking for something even remotely similar. Nothing ever came close until I received a sample of Black Tulip one day.

It's such a beautiful scent, dark plum and sweet vanillary white chocolate. It's not very floral on me but the woods definitely add a bit of spice to it. I find it lasts quite a long time and lingers on the skin even longer. It's dark and romantic and hands down one of my favourite scents to date.

antolin1

Where are the tulips? First blast I get plums, which are jammy, dissipating quickly. Then all I am left with is pepper. Scent wise, this is much more fitting to be a lotion, it does not work for me as a perfume.

Science&Scents

So, I bought this for the plum note, not the white chocolate and the latter is more prominent than I really care for. It's really nice though! On first spray, I get the medicinal thing Krest123 mentions but on my skin that went away quite quickly.

The timing of the notes seem a little backwards from the pyramid. I got white chocolate immediately but it eases up to leave more of a woody plum syrup/jam. I've grown cyclamen and snowdrops before but I don't recall a distinct fragrance so I'll trust mutatismutandis in their assessment below. Nothing about this strikes me as particularly floral but maybe english breakfast tea-like? It reminds me of the smell of english breakfast tea for some reason. Super calming.

It's not quite the plum I'm looking for and SL FdB was a terrible fail for me. This is a first impression so a follow up is in order to comment on longevity, etc. Off to make a cup of tea in the meantime. Cheers!

MyersAlice

Such a yummy and comforting scent.
I really adore it. The white chocolate, plum and woodsy notes blend so well together.
Makes me want to get cozy with a blanket and some tea.
I can't say much for the tulip or the other florals though.

MishkaPumpkin

My favourite of the 6 perfumes I have tried from Shay & Blue. It doesn't smell particularly floral to me at all. Very sensual, I mainly smell the woody notes, plum and white chocolate. Sweet but not cloyingly so

My friend described this perfume as “smelling cheap, but nice.” I personally don’t agree :)

I agree with the commentor who suggested this is similar to YSL Black Opium (the drydown) though it is sweeter and without that addictive bitter coffee note.

SailorV

This has nothing to do with tulips. At all. It's not even floral. To me Black Tulip is a very Christmas-like scent of concentrated plum jam and spices. They might not be officially listed, but I definitely smell cinnamon and vanilla here. The white chocolate note is more about the texture of the scent than anything else. It's a warm, sweet and dark fruity fragrance.

I like this, but I wouldn't wear it. I would enjoy a bubble bath or a candle like this, maybe even a tea with a similar flavor, but as a perfume I find it too simple and linear. It doesn't evolve in any way, it just smells like very sweet spiced plums all day, which gets a little exhausting after a few hours. Especially because it's loud and a good performer, which is of course a plus for fans of this kind of scent.

Krest123

Smells medicinal like something you would smell at a dentist, probably one of the worst perfumes I’ve ever bought.

mutatismutandis

Well, the name's misleading. Of the three flowers listed here - tulip, cylamen and snowdrops - I don't smell any of them in the perfume and I've grown up with all three for decades. So if you're buying this to experience those you'll be disappointed.

What we have here is something that opens with a big burst of white chocolate which is almost immediately overtaken by a sense of plum jam and flowers with a hint of wood in the background. It's most unusual. It projects moderately and lasts longer as a projecting perfume than you think.

About two hours in it's a plum dominant perfume but the flowers are still there (but not the ones in the official notes) and it's pretty much as strong. There's a hint of a vague green note in the background as well as a gentle accompanying woody note. It's still as strong.

Three hours in it smells the same but it starts to fade slowly towards being a skin scent. About five hours in, it turns somehow, and while the plum note remains, the flower - wood - vague green combination has about half an hour where it isn't nice. But this passes and it settles to plum with hints of notes that have faded. I get seven and a half hours of it as a distinct, functioning perfume. Had I not needed a shower, I think it would have stretched to ten or eleven hours. I certainly think it's good quality.

I really can't think of anything I could usefully compare it too. This may just be a reflection of the lack of gourmands in my perfume repertoire or it might be a sign of something unique, possibly both. I would say I think it works for days and nights and I could see it working for autumn, winter and spring but not for summer. I'd say it's unisex with leanings more to the feminine side.

I might try more from this house in time.

EDIT: after a few wearings of this, it has become apparent to me that this will fill a room, albeit slowly, if you don't cover up where you've sprayed it on yourself (or your clothes).

gtabasso

a sweet gourmand fruity floral with the sugar (not distinctly white chocolate or buttery), the edgy florals of cyclamen and tulip, and the fruit (indistinct plum); a like but not a love and I love plum and tulip frags

vlarya

It smells exactly like a plum and vanilla flavoured tea. It is sweet plum. Pure, sweet plum.

Such a perfect scent for early autumn, with black nail polish, burgundy eyeshadow and a cosy sweater.

Piccolopuma

I find this perfume being very sexy and yummy! I wear it in the evening when I want to feel good and confident!

xvxmatthewxvx

Starts off floral, fresh, green, citric-fruity, powdery, then a common sweet synthetic amber accord I’ve smelled in dozens of “girly” perfumes quickly emerges & I feel duped by S & B.

Overall it’s ok for the first 5-10 minutes when the tops notes are going through their various phases of evaporation but the sweet ambery base kills it & I did not smell any wood. I think the notes on here are misleading.

Not worth niche prices for something you could easily find for less money but definitely try it for yourself.

Pempipot

Of all the perfumes from this brand that I tried this one is the more perplexing. It doesn't smell of tulip and, to me, none of the mentioned ingredients are predominant. It's a weird floral smell with some (vague) sweetness. Not for me, but an original scent none the less.

craftymaya

That is delicious! The plum and white chocolate bring the sweetness when the woody and light notes bring something sparkling to it. I LOVE it. It is a feminine and masculine unique gourmand! Well balanced fragrance that has a fair projection and a great longevity! I like to add a tad of vanilla, to compliment it.

Bluesamphire

Very sweet. Quite heavy.
I get a waft of top notes, but can’t identify them. They pass quickly. Then it settles into Plum and white chocolate.. it isn’t powdery, but it does last a loooong time.
Not something I want to wear, or smell on others.

One thing I will say for Shay & Blue, they have variety.

tandaina

Well this is lovely!

Finally a perfume that actulaly smells like creamy white chocolate. I do not get powder. I do get a warm smooth plum (very subtle) and lots of creamy white chocolate.

arielX

Strong Plum right on the nose that fades away quickly to sweet powder. As it's unisex I think it's definitely more on the feminine side (75% gentle & soft side 25% good smell for anyone). It's sort of a smell that any woman could pull off, but a man would need to be either a person who loves interesting scents or open to experiments.

Nicole f

I get a smoky smell from it, could be the mix of wood and plum. I thought I could smell vanilla, but it must be the white chocolate. It's nice, but I don't like it enough to buy 100ml bottle.

shushkin

This is one gorgeous fragrance. Looking at the list of notes it would be easy to assume this a gourmand but it's more than that. It has a sophistication that makes it much more than it's parts.
It smells rich and luscious from the plum, a little honeyed from the snowdrop but I have not smelt a scented tulip so I can't comment. The plum is very well balanced with the floral notes and dash of white chocolate. It is very well blended so its not that easy to pick out the notes. I think dewy is a good way to describe these notes. Not strong and perfumey but luscious and moreish. There is enough strength in the wood notes to balance the fruit and chocolate to make this an easy to love gourmand.
A nice scent for evening wear or on a chilly day. This is any occasion scent.
I get good longevity and sillage.

Wooster97

Beautifully sweet and has a Black Opium ysl vibe about it ,however this leans very feminine !floral sweet and sugary deep aroma
