Inoffensive, light and citrusy summer scent. I will wait until summer as that may be when this fragrance may shine best, but for now I'm not impressed. The bottle is very fun however

ninasavivb

you’re traveling through Sicily by train, having a pineapple and cream desert, sitting next to sophia loren who’s smoking but blowing it out the open window. that’s what it smells like

Sassafras23

I just bought six spray pens with different Salvador Dali perfumes (from Paris Mode) and applaud them for making ‘smalls’ available (as well as affordable). One of them is Laguna. I had it about two decades ago, and it’s as beautiful as I remember. Laguna smelt unique to me then and still does. It’s distinct from any of the fruity-florals I have. If I were to guess, I wouldn’t say fruit, I wouldn’t say flower, I’d say wood or resin. The coconut is voted dominant in this, but I don’t smell it. After disliking quite a few other fragrances with the note, I’ve come to believe that the coconut is not for me. Laguna does not smell like a coconut fragrance to me. Dali is another one of the pens, and I got it knowing full well that that scent profile (as described) was wrong for me, but I keep testing myself against these to see if they can grow on me or at least to better understand the notes/accords that put me off. (For example, there was a time I suspected dominant amber. Now I know it’s not amber. So still investigating.) My intuitive perception of this scent profile back in the day was (and I say ‘intuitive’ meaning not influenced by any marketing or fashion discourse) was that of contempt. It felt common for the time and did not come across at all as glamorous and expensive. Sniffing Dali now - still the same effect although without contempt. I imagine this for people who prefer dark interiors crowded with wooden panelling, heavy carved mahogany furniture, leather and jacquard upholstering and curtains. I could never relate to that kind of ‘vibe’. It’s not always about the maturity of one’s palate. If Laguna is ‘vintage’, it’s not ‘vintage’ like others of the Dali type are vintage.

I could not get used to this scent. It has this sweaty, sour, metallic afternote that gives this scent a very unpleasant nature. This smells like you just got out of a chlorine pool, and are washing the pool water off while someone else is washing their body with a cheap dove type body soap. Kinda smells like the inside of an old suitcase after you just pulled it out of storage? Lol. It smells like grammas spoiled cosmetics. Something watery and wet about it for sure, but not in a delicate way at all. There are some nice notes in there mostly the amber, musk, leaf, and a HINT of Citrus. It smells D
dated, almost like it's gone bad. It's smells like old water not fresh water. If I smelled this on someone I would think that the scent "got on them" from somewhere. I would never guess that someone actually sprayed this scent on their body to intentionally smell like this. I'm so sad because I love the bottle. But I at least have to MILDLY enjoy my perfumes to keep them on my Vanity. Unfortunately this will be a regift because I just cant stand it! Will try the brown Dali bottle next. I believe it's just called Dali.

I blind bought this because I thought I used to love it 20 years ago. The one I loved must have been a flanker. This one, Laguna, really disappointed me now. It has a strong toilet cleaner vibe and lots of artificial citrus. It was really overpowering - to the point where I could actually taste the fragrance hours after spraying. I re-sold it as quickly as I'd bought it.

anidamasceno

Just an observation, Laguna has nothing to do with Light Blue; well, maybe the blue/turquoise imagery. Besides this, nothing else. Laguna is mostly a syrupy pineapple with hints of talc and a somewhat pleasant herbal masculine undernote. It's name and visual identity has more to do with the sensations brought by a piña colada you order by the pool at a fancy resort than the pool itself. It's precious and complex, I adore its weirdness and I stand by my opinion when I say the 80s and early 90s were the best decades for fragrances. I don't think this is a summer scent at all (I live by the beach in Brazil and had people telling me Laguna is too "strong" for hotter days, unlike LB's freshness), I would gladly wear this baby all day around if my city had a proper autumn.

m00nlights

My mom just bought a perfume and I told her it reminded me of my kiddengarden teacher who I loved so the fragrance made me feel good. Then she brought up that she doesn’t remember what other wore except her best friend in the 80’s. She showed me this one and as a person who enjoys “vintage” fragrances, I’ve never heard of it. She told me she was a little jealous of her friend because it was such a beautiful bottle and it smelled gorgeous. Guess who bought it to her for Christmas present hehe

I got two because there was no tester and I really wanted to smell it before so instead of giving her an already opened bottle I did splurge on myself too 🤭

It’s definitely not a fragrance I like. It has a plastic note that doesn’t stay for long and it’s not that noticeable if I don’t put my bare nose on my wrist. But it’s still there.
It has a pineapple, citrus, plastic, aquatic opening and comes down to a creamy, almost spicy coconut which I can’t stand, maybe because of the patchouli. But it’s not for me, but the bottle is really pretty!

SweetJhane

I don’t know what it is about Dali scents, but they are just addictive to me. Laguna is not summery, fresh, or aquatic on me. The pineapple and citrus opening is light, breezy, and bright. Then I get rose and vanilla, but the woods and what must be the balsamic notes really warm everything up quickly. This is smoulderingly, richly beautiful with significant patchouli and sandalwood. The coconut shows up late in all this warmth and it’s lovely. Laguna is a real gem - longevity is 10+ hours, sillage is great. I can smell it hours later in the rooms where I’ve been. The drydown is the lightest vanilla, very clean and airy. I love it.

Lulushka

Sweet, transparent, quirky aquatic weirdness from Mark Buxton--the opening can be kind of off-putting, but if you stick around, good things come from this, if you don't overspray. The opening--plastic phantom orange blossom, soap musk and aldehydic hairspray--only lasts about 15/20 minutes before the good stuff starts in, with a limpid jasmine on top of coconut, vanilla, and sandalwood in an intriguingly transparent composition that gives loads of "what is that good smell/oh that's me" during a day's wear. I think this is supposed to do a gauzy dance around you, so keep that in mind.

The summers are not getting any cooler where I come from, so this is a great choice on days when the heat is making me especially miserable. Since I can't beat it, I might as well join in. Mr. Buxton just doesn't make bad perfume, so hang with this and let it develop, especially if you don't love the opening. Just go easy with it, and don't overspray.

Amber Plokchouli

Wearing this fragrance again in the summer heat, I like it a lot better. It takes the edge of the sharp synthetic citrus..

This is a very plastic-y scent, which I don’t mind. It smells like a toy store in the 90s, that sweet scent of soft plastic and dolls heads.. I think my barbies used to smell like this, and recently I bought those 90s style beach jelly sandals, and the moment I took them out of the box my mind went: “LAGUNA”.

There’s a hint of chlorine too, which is the only thing imo that makes this somewhat summery. The pineapple is too subdued to make it tropical, and it’s not really lactonic to give it the piña colada vibes others have mentioned. The lactonic quality is more from a creamy, (very) synthetic musk than coconut cream.

Overall I like it better in the summer heat. But the smell makes me think of plastic and swimming pools. Those beach shoes and blow up floating devices have that sweet plastic smell plus the faint hint of chlorine does somewhat remind me of a day at a pool. Not particularly tropical, but I do enjoy the 90s vibes.

This will never be my favourite scent, and I don’t really understand what makes it so popular, but every once in a while I don’t mind wearing it.

Edited to add:
I intend to experiment with layering this with salty/sandy scents. I can imagine creating a cool beachy/plastic air beds vibe, otherwise it’ll forever be a fragrance that doesn’t give me joy. I will report back when I find a cool combo.

Edit 2:
I immediately went on to layer this with Paco Rabanne Olympea, which I find very addictive for the salt note, but something in the florals just makes it a tad tacky (as does the association with Paco Rabanne, who’s bottles and marketing are top tackiness imho). First impression is that this could be a win. The plastic of Laguna seems to give the florals of Olympea just a little more edge, and the sharp, cheap fruit notes from Laguna are just pretty much overpowered by Olympea. In the opening Olympea is a lot stronger than Laguna, but after a minute or 10 this evens out, and they seem to dance around each other more. If you own both, it’s worth experimenting with 😊

_NicoleNonya

The initial blast is citrus, lemon and orange. It smells synthetic out the bottle to my nose.
The atomizer on the bottle is powerful giving a generous spritz.
As it dries down, the most prominent notes are pineapple and rose. The coconut is used to balance out the overwhelming rose to make the scent more fruity.
Once it's fully dry, it becomes a powder bomb. It smells like something you'd purchase with a doll from the 90s.
It's incredibly juveniles. The peach shines through around 20 minutes in, which is odd since peach is a top note.
It has some watery notes I suspect is from the lily.
An hour in, you get a faint whiff of cinnamon and vanilla mixed with the lemon and fruits.
Unsure why, but this smells like a rubber doll to me and not in a good way.
This is one of those scents where you can taste the cheapness. It didn't trigger any allergies so that's a plus.
I wouldn't wear this in humidity because it's too strong.
I dislike this fragrance.

biancavlad74

For me it was a successful blind buy. I was afraid because it contains rose, which I can't stand, but I was pleasantly surprised. In the opening you can feel the lemon and pineapple and then a citrus-coconut scent stay on the skin with a very light rose breeze, but not a synthetic or overly powerful rose but a rose water from a fresh summer dessert. It has a powdery smell, from my point of view a powdery scent specific to the 90s perfumes. The sillage is not the best, on my skin it's like a body mist, which doesn't necessarily bother me. It doesn't perform as long-lasting either, it lasts 3-4 hours on me. I will repurchase it due to the low price.

Sonjaro

Really wanted to like this cus of the cool bottle! Smells very sweet, spicy and sort of old. Like Piña colada and cinnamon. Not really my kind of scent sadly.

li-di-da

So many better perfumes out there! Although against blind buying, I ordered it because of the hype (a couple of YouTubers' glowing reviews) and reviews here which I can't relate to. Also could not sample it anywhere.

No specific fruits. No specific flowers. None of the jasmine, lily, iris or even coconut I would have been curious to sniff.

I thought I got two seconds of the "watery pineapple" but could also be trying too hard to smell it, could be bogus.

If I have to force the Laguna holiday narrative, it smells like chlorine at the pool (or yes air freshener) and then one of my mom's strong cinnamon and/or woody perfume from when I was young. Yeah I think Mom would like this... (I'm really a hater of heavily spicy and woody scents - evil!) but this here isn't really not a beach or holiday feel. Oh marketing!!

However, I like this better on my partner; he is a scent chameleon in his mid-thirties and can wear absolutely anything.

Will update if I wear it some more. Also will try it in fall and winter if I don't give this to Mama first. Trying it in sweltering heat again is a no.

scatteredshowers

This one almost feels hard to describe, it's such an out-there, atmospheric kind of scent. I wasn't sure I liked it at first, I had to wear it around a bit. Starts off with very strong lemon that stays bright and fruity for about an hour or so until it dries down to a light, powdery, creamy, musky coconut that reminds me of warm white sand in the sun. Very light and relaxing. The vanilla note is a little doll-like, which I like, and the pineapple is tangy and watery. It has a light, sunny, fancy resort sort of feel that's great for late spring/early summer weather.

cr7stal1zed

No. This perfume.. Just aint it. Idk why but on my skin it smells like a grandma that just made a discusting smoothing with mainly pineapple(I hate that) and cinnamon(?) Plus a lot off other fruits. And soon the patchouli is just peeking thru like "Im Here notice me" Honestly Just ew

First perfume I've ever smelt. I was in my early teens and only knew colognes. Made me want to puke. I wonder how it would hit me know, almost 30 years later!

isrsat

I was honestly a bit disappointed by this one. It's not a bad scent, just not at ALL what I expected from the description, notes, or bottle. I WISH I got more of the fruitiness, coconut, and vanilla that's described, but what came through to me was just an aromatic citrusy typical mens cologne vibe. Based off the description, I literally thought I might have gotten a sample of the wrong scent.

I was expecting something tropical, fresh, and fruity, but was surprised by something quite underwhelming and typical.

Amber Plokchouli

Let me start by saying that I’ve only tested this scent in winter at this point, so I will update if my experience with it is very different in warm weather.

I’m stuck between a meh and a like on this one. I’m giving it a like because part of why I’m not wowed is because this simply isn’t a type of fragrance I’m crazy about, which has nothing to do with the quality of the fragrance.

Upon first spritz there’s a rather screechy, sharp citrus note, which does have that bug spray vibe I’ve seen mentioned. Luckily it settles down into a more toned down citrus in about 5 minutes, which is an acceptable timespan for a fragrance to smell unpleasant imo.

One thing that really stands out is that this fragrance develops incredibly fast. Too fast. After the bug spray sharpness fades I get a pleasant juicy citrus that mostly leans towards lemon with a hint of grapefruit. Within a few minutes this changes and the peach and pineapple come through, at this point the lemon is pretty much gone (we’re talking about within 3-5 minutes after the citrus settled into something pleasant), and the fragrance becomes very pleasantly watery. It’s well blended, so except for the pineapple the other fruit notes aren’t truly distinguishable. At this point the fragrance is both aquatic in a VERY gentle watery way (with maybe the slightest hint of something salty), and a soft pineapple punch.
Here I’m starting to pick up some rose for MAYBE one minute before it’s gone and the pineapple is fading too. At this point the coconut comes through stronger and stronger, and the scent settles into the creamy, coconutty, musky dry down.

This whole process took about 15 minutes. 20 if I’m being generous and from there in the fragrance stays mostly in the dry down stage. I say mostly because some individual notes do come through now and then. Some moments it’s plasticky which I’m guessing is the Iris and/or musk, sometimes I get hints of the plum, but all in all I feel like this scent settles into the dry down way too fast. There’s no time to thoroughly enjoy the top.. the heart notes were possibly worse and didn’t really get to shine at all.

The longevity is actually really good, so that’s not an issue, it just gets a bit boring if all I really get is just the dry down with some minor variations from time to time, instead of a scent that comes alive on my skin.

I’m hoping the scent will develop more slowly/subtly in warmer weather. All in all it is a pleasant scent. Not something I’ll reach for very often, but I may change my mind about that if it doesn’t rush through the notes in summer. I really enjoyed the watery pineapple stage and I’m really bummed that it lasted less than 5 minutes. :(

Nimu

I get Luna Rossa Ocean with Marc Jacobs Decadence and a bit of mold.Like numb clothes at the beach in summer. Not bad.But I don¨t want to smell like this.Another fragrance that I will use as an air freshner however I will keep the bottle forever.

eneqvist

Love this scent! Smelling it now again after twenty years, confirms why it was my signature for ten years (all year round). It smells like piña colada on the beach. Pineapple and lemon at first, then the warm vanilla comes in to join, all the while with a fresh ocean breeze present. It is fresh, citrusy, fruity, floral and salty, all at the same time. To me it is an experience, with depth and personality unlike most perfumes today. And the bottle is beautiful!

AriaLennon

It has a metallic, watery-pineapple vibe that I really like. Laguna is a creamy fruity-floral with a strong woody-metallic note and a watery twang that never becomes grey or dusty, instead remaining clear and blue. It's tough and long-lasting. I get citrus on top of a fruity accord and a creamy coconut foundation. Fabulous. Addictive!

neonaya

Salty marine powdery coconut with hints of medicine herbs. Unusual composition, but I really don’t understand where to wear it. Too powdery suffocating for hot weather and too relaxed and tropical for colds. Also has vibe of 90s that is pretty depressing for me personally. I finished my 5ml miniature bottle and will keep it cause it’s beautiful and sometimes it’s pleasant to remember some scents from the past. But definitely won’t buy any more.

L.rist

I love love this. I love the florals, that jasmine and rose, I love the amber and patchouli I love the waves of it. This is just a beautiful perfume. So happy I found it. Shines perfectly in the heat.

LZed

Many people have made the association with bug spray. I did, too, when I first got it. Thin, synthetic, fruity bug spray with a weird sharpness that’s not quite ammonia but something unpleasantly Windexy. So back of the closet it goes.

Much later when we get our annual summer heat dome, I was looking for fragrances to try in the extreme heat. I totally overspray it for that alcohol evaporating chemical reaction and, voila, the extreme temperature fast-forwards that bug spray opening and there’s this spicy woody fruity middle part I never knew existed. Like you’ve been swimming in a salty lagoon of tropical fruit and are surrounded by an exhaling forest. The citrus musk clings to your skin like a fruity drink thrown on you in anger. THIS must be what Mark Buxton was going for: citrus, musk, spice, and something not quite boozy and not quite aquatic. I still get that sharpness but it doesn’t have quite the potency in high heat and reads as refreshing instead of Off-putting. Anyway, nice save, Heat Dome.

And of course the bottle is gorgeous. Tiffany blue turquoise surrealism. Just looking at it evokes being cryogenically frozen.

annasarahr121

Salvador Dali Laguna opens with a blast of fruits. I get lemon citrus, for sure, and pineapple. I also detect an aromatic note -- almost a mintiness -- but there's no mint, so maybe it's the greenness of the galbanum...? There's also an aquatic saltiness present, which seems to fit with the name "Laguna," but it doesn't quite head into ocean-aquatic territory, falling just short of being aquatic like Armani Air di Gioa, Roberto Cavalli Paradiso Azzuro, or Gres Cabotine Eau Vivide. But there's definitely a cool saltiness present along with the fruits.

Then, as it continues to dry down, Laguna takes a turn. It morphs into a warm, tonka with a rich plum note (and a hint of orange). At this point, I kept sniffing my wrist and trying to figure out what it reminded me of... Then I noticed that some of my Fragrantican brothers and sisters see a similarity to Burberry Brit, and I agree: after that fruity-aquatic opening, the drydown is definitely reminiscent of the orange-almond-tonka Brit. Overall, though, Laguna is a bit too split-personalitied and disjointed for my tastes; I prefer either fruity-floral perfumes, salty aquatics, or the orange-almond-tonka loveliness of Burberry Brit. But Laguna is definitely interesting!

seilche

I was shocked by the huge notes pyramid because it's such a simple fragrance! There's a huge burst of clean citrus on initial spray, but once it dries down it becomes very sweet, and a little creamy. The coconut, sandalwood, and vanilla combine to create almost a waffle cone-type smell, reminiscent of the inside of the an ice cream shop, but the citrus and floral notes keep this from going into gourmand territory. I love the bottle, of course, and this has made me interested in sampling Dali's other perfumes.

MargotM

Instantly made me think of Dune. (!) It's probably the shared Brazilian Rosewood. Maybe Dune's younger sister, with pineapple and sans aldehydes?
Dry down, yet to know... 20 min and already too sweet for meeeee

fun bottle though...

bajablast

what an amazing bottle! i have no memory of the scent itself but i remember this and Cool Water sitting on my mom's vanity clear as day. fascinating how memorable packaging can be. Nostalgia!!!!

rubydoll

I agree with ChristyFirefly, no discernable notes but a fresh, slightly salty, with not the scent of coconut as such but the mellowness of that note. I have a 5ml miniature and I'm planning to get a bigger bottle as I'm on an aquatic kick at the moment. It's better on me as it wears on. I know it's been around for years, but this, if its reformulated, is very very pleasant, but I'd never would have thought it was in the floral fruity category. Although I'm not an adventurer in perfume I don't play safe either so I think this is a tad unusual.

AllisonNW

A fresh citrus musk. It suits someone who is effortlessly cool. I waited awhile to get this one because the huge list of notes seemed a bit much, but I’m happy to report it’s a nice, unique, simple, clean scent for spring.

Compositeur

This is pineapple and vanilla (and a very faint coconut). It's pretty good for what it is. The vanilla stops it from being suitable for high summer, but still OK for the rest of the summer and/or the rest of the year. It has very similar vibes to Altamir. But for a better pineapple note there's Music for a while. The latter though is heavier and not really suitable for summer.
Longevity is moderate and sillage is strong for the first few hours, then a vanilla skin scent.

neonaya

Lime and coconut is pretty popular combination, but in this perfume it is also accompanied by vanilla and sweet herbal liqueur. Despite the name supposing wearing it in hot weather on the beach I’d recommend it for colder periods of the year or night outs, cause today Laguna sounds probably more like gourmand scent. Very unusual and familiar at the same time like I heard this scent million times before. After a few days toasted coconut starts to annoy me, so I use Laguna 1-2 times a month. 5ml sampler is quite enough, won’t bother myself to buy a full bottle.

ChristyFirefly

The "Laguna" came to me. I bought a cute 5ml miniature. These are small, neat lips with a plastic nose-lid.
I don't smell coconut, pineapple or any other single note. It's a whole fragrance. It is sweet, sour and salty at the same time. It's an amazing fragrance.
I specially bought 5ml to use them during the holidays in the warm season, because I have important plans, the memories of which I want to keep in the perfume. I think it will be perfect for these purposes.
Of course, I wouldn't be able to use Laguna every day because it's too rich, but the fragrance is wonderful.

lihik

I smell mostly coconut and vanilla, but in an off way. No freshness what so ever. It’s really bad.

emilianods75

It was good in the 90' but today it give me terrible headaches!!!!!

Laoire

Love the bottle, it is a work of art ha ha! The fragrance itself reminds me of lemon sherbet with a touch of mint. It is a very unusual smell but I like it.

melusina1982

A light pink "My Little Pony" spending their vacation on a tropical island. Very, very fun.

Mariamaija Amélie

Laguna will always hold a very special place in my heart. Repurchased it lately after many, many years and it smells exactly the same to me: minty fresh, fruity sweet, milky and woody. So unique. I love wearing this, and have bought a back up bottle - just because :)

GUADELUPA

Salty sea water in a bottle with bitter citrus notes. Longevity and sillage are moderate. It reminds me of a tropical island somewhere in the Mediterranean waters. The bottle in the form of nose and lips is gorgeous.

GirlOnFire

I immediately loved this perfume. It's a unisex perfume, I think, and the amber, patchouli, florals, fruits, and musk are great in this. There is just the right balance of sweetness and aquatic notes. I will definitely need more! In a sense it is "retro", but anything that doesn't smell like cotton candy or molecules nowadays is considered retro and frankly I think the term is used rather loosely. Those of you who aren't afraid of going outside the current mainstream box, give this a try. I find this a really perfect surrealist floral fruity aquatic. It's not quite fully conceptual, but certainly not mainstream.

Edit: I love the coconut in this!

fanciful

On me it's a surprisingly long lasting woody citrus aquatic. Pretty but retro.

ImmiMathiassen

Love Laguna! I had this in the 90’s. My signature scent then.
Bought it again now and I must say that it’s quite similar, but now I have to spray a lot to smell it. (I don’t mind)
I layered it today with Diptyque - Fleur de Peau. Perfect together and work friendly. Omg you guys must try that. LOVE

giri-boni

It leans masculine. It is beautiful, though. I'd rather smell it on a man. It smells fresh, fruity and slightly sweet due to the warm base notes. It's very modern, doesn't smell like it's from the beginning of the 1990s.

Veelovesparfumes

Blind -buy and I absolutely love this one! Very unusual and unique love love love!

maci2222

Blind buy of a used bottle off ebay. These can be found all over for quite the bargain today. Bottle is definitely a work of art, the outside appears to be thin green plastic layer that is starting to flake off. Opening is very nostalgic, zesty lemony soda like, even herbal. Over about half an hour it is giving way to a sweet very slightly coconut vibe. It is very relaxing. Stronger "more pure" smelling when sprayed on fabric. More woody on my skin, more floral on my shirt. It is extremely complicated there are all sorts of associations drifting around in this and it really takes you on a journey.

MagdalenaM

Okay, so I blind bought this for the bittle - zero regrets for that, also it was mad cheap. I had no idea what to expect scent wise, especially after reading the reviews.
At first the scent was so familiar - I have smelled this a million times along the way unknowingly. Of course, its fresh and summery, but has a cleaning product vibe. This is old, so its not impossible that these cleaning products didnt adopt this scent profile until later, but to my nose I cant unsmell it. There is a mint note that Im getting in the background. I dont think its unisex, I find it sexless. It doesnt lean feminine or masculine in a traditional sense. I can imagine however enjoying this on my lazy days at the coastline because I feel in the right surroundings this can paint an interesting picture.

One thing I can add is that this performs quite well for its price range, and I find that it has some staying power in the insane heat I am experiencing right now. Props for that.

I bought this November 2020 on the principle that it’s a weirdo “classic”. The bottle is amazing. It’s a beast mode fruity party and unless you’re a human cartoon, avoid during colder months.
However! It’s been gnarly hot and humid in NYC and Laguna is DELICIOUS in this weather. Added bonus of not disappearing despite hours of sweating it all off. By the end of the day running errands in the heat, my husband said I smelled like woody plums.
I need to organize my perfumes for temperature rather than season or notes now.

PerfumeEmpress

I usually like SD's perfumes. The original is still one of my favorites and if it has been reformulated they did a good job, for once. I never quite got the hang of Laguna, though. I have Laguna Maravilla, too, and I didn't like it either. I don't hate either of them. I just don't like them. I put them up for sale on EBay, but nobody seemed interested. I ended up throwing them away.

mapache

Ok....I like this....but...I need to "explore" this scent more.
At first sniff....I got a typical D&G Light Blue "type" vibe. Then some of the other notes wafted in...and it changed.
I would recommend to let this scent develop on the skin to really "get" the full picture.
This...IMO..is very unisex. Fresh...light sweetness...fruity....easy to get along with scent....yet...underneath...it has some vintage green vibes, again, IMO.
I think after a full wearing I will find out "more" about this scent.
Moderate performance/sillage.

Wow this is utterly unique! An ouvre d'art in form of a fragrance. This is not for everybody, for sure, it's far away from the mainstream spring and summer fresh fragrances. At the top, I can definitely smell the pineapple, the lemon and the coconut in a fruity juice that I've never experienced before, there is something very mysterious resulting from all this notes combined. Yes, it has a synthetic vibe, dunno why, but this doesn't make me dislike Laguna at all. It just makes it more appealing, as something different and artsy. In the dry down, I can get the vanilla mixed with a musky vibe also in a very queer way. This fragrance couldn't match more it's brand: it is definitely the first "surrealist" fragrance I've ever tried. The bottle is a masterpiece itself. Gonna buy and try other Salvador Dali's fragrances for sure.

QueenieIrenie

This one was a pleasant surprise! I only ordered it because I found it for really cheap online, I loved the bottle, and Dali is one of my favorite artists ever. I ended up enjoying this one. I didn't think this was sweet at all, nor did I pick up on any coconut. I bought this probably 5 years ago, not sure if anything changed in the formula since then. It did smell a bit weird, kinda synthetic upon initial spray but that went away and then it became more aquatic, fresh, fruity, a little floral and a little woody. I found it to be unique. The scent didn't last too long on my skin but it was still enjoyable in the warmer months. Really though, I only bought it to decorate my vanity, the fact that I actually liked the fragrance was an added bonus.

foreverine

Oh my oh my... this one blew me away.

Immediately after the first spray, I could detect something herbal almost like dried Italian herb. Not loud, but really shy. It went away almost instantly after citrus notes came front and center. I could detect mix of fruits lingering in the back. The fruit scent is fresh without being sharp and sweet without being cloying. I love this!

In the middle, on my skin, I get a lot of iris and rose. They give really comfy and calming feeling to me. It feels like falling asleep in the arms of my mother.

I am glad that I don’t smell too much of the coconut on the dry down. Because I have had too many cocosnuss scent in my collection. Instead, I get a balanced mix between tonka bean, vanilla, and musk.

I had ordered a 30 ml bottle, after testing it, I placed another for 100 ml bottle for less than 20 Euros. It’s an excellent grab.

PapayayaBabanana

I have been very lucky with blind buys until this point but this fragrance I absolutely cannot stand. Most fragrances I become anosmic to very quickly but this one would not go away.

I found it to be unpleasantly cloying and overly complex in the way that Angel by Mugler can be for some. I tried very hard to enjoy it and I gave it 3 separate chances and by the third I immediately felt like I was going to throw up. Worst of all the smell will not go away until at least 12 hours later. It is unfortunate because I love the bottle so much I'd like to use it as decoration since I wont be wearing it, yet - every time I walk past and see it I am reminded of how much I detest the perfume.

I would describe it as a ménage à trois between a patchouliless Angel by Mugler, Acqua Di Gioia by Giorgio Armani, and a overripe almost rotting peach they found poolside at one of those tacky preppified techno concerts.

This should stay in the 80's where it belongs.

giri-boni

This is soooo good! I have been sampling tons of designer and even niche fragrances and nothing captures my attention. But this one... What a perfume! Very unissex, I must say... But extremely sexy, woody, lactônico, so powerful. I could easily fall in love with a men who wears this in hot, humid weather. Sex in a bottle.

theuntrainednose

I have a sample.

---

This is strange. Coconut, pineapple, vanilla and other fruits, with a backdrop of either baby powder or clothes washing detergent or bug spray. To be honest, I want to like it, as it is intriguing and unusual, and the bottle is amazingly beautiful, but the fact that it veers into bug spray territory makes me dislike it. It's unpleasant and nauseating to my nose. I'll give it a little more time before scrubbing it off, to check if it becomes something better afterwards. If not, I'll scrub it off.

UPDATE: After drying a bit more, I think there's moments where I can smell what, possibly, the perfumer intended me to smell. An unusual mix of coconut, pineapple, vanilla, musk and dark, bitter woods. However, it quickly goes back into bug spray mixed with vanilla and coconut, to my nose, which is unpleasant to me. It's a shame.

Not blind-buy safe. Try before you buy.

I'll keep enjoying my original Dali Parfum, which shares the beautiful bottle shape. This one is not for me.

poppyetpear

This definitely reminds me of Burberry Brit. After 20 minutes or so, it turns into nag champa on my skin.

perfumum

I was curious for this perfume for a long time. Name and bottle was original and had really good reviews. I found a 1 ml tester and quickly bought it. Because it is not a popular perfume to find testers unfortunately. Well, i liked this smell. It felt like i am already familiar with the smell. Like i smell it somewhere and my brain just remembered it. I would say it is unoffensive perfume but as i see some reviews some people hate it or say it smells plasticy. I did not get it. But i also think it is not a summer perfume. Maybe spring or fall.. Because it is not citrusy or fresh to my nose, but i smell amber, musky notes too.. it feels more warm and sweet than fresh, but still not strong or heavy as other sweet perfumes, thanks to the fruity notes . I actually consider getting a full bottle after i use some of my perfumes up..

middle25

I blind bought a few mini Dali's because I had never tried the line in all the years I've been walking the earth. Laguna starts out, for me, with a lemon drop candy like my Grandma had in a tin in her purse for church use only. Then I smell the rosewood, very warm and comfortable with the white florals on a bed of vanilla, tonka, and sandalwood. Unfortunately, I don't get much coconut. This reminds me of fresh laundry. It's definitely sweet but I think the lemon balances it out so it isn't too much. It doesn't last a long time or project much, but it's different from what I usually go to and I like it. Maybe it will do better in warmer weather as another reviewer suggested.

Update: I bought a full bottle and wearing it in early summer, it shines. So versatile, pretty, and sunny. I get a little coconut and it lasts longer than in the cold. Very happy!

parfymeentusiasten

Pure nostalgia.

My mom used to wear this during our vacations abroad. I remember "stealing" some in the hotel bathroom and I immediately felt fantastic - and mature! (I was around 8 years old).

This fragrance brings me to my happy place. Everything is nice and safe with this on.

I'm older now and I bought a bottle not too long ago. Unfortunately it doesn't last long and it doesn't project much. Whatever - I will always keep a bottle for the nostalgia (oh, and the smell is nice too btw!).

Frangipanilove

I blind bought this hankering after a good 90’s aquatic scent but its incredibly, overly sweet in an artificial and unpleasant way. Which is a shame because if it were less sweet, less artificial it has the makings of a really beautiful scent at the core. Like a painting that could have been really beautiful but something just went a bit wrong and was overpainted. Floral aquatic with fruits. If that sweetness can somehow be taken down then I think there is a really beautiful scent underneath.

Siv7Stars

Yes I got it for the bottle. Found 100ml on offer, far cheaper than smaller sizes (how does that work?) so I finally blind bought it. Initial blast of 90s aquatic, so nostalgic, so lovely, so excited! Then it disappeared in 30 seconds n I am left with a peculiar plastic musky fruity floral. & a headache. Ah well. It's going on the mantelpiece, under my Dali print of One Second Before Awakening.

echurch1979

I have a bit of a perfume problem. There is always another perfume I have to have. Always. I have lists of other's lists of perfume to buy. Always. But in a moment this fall of addict-level negotiation, I said "Okay! From now on I will only buy perfume for the coordinating season I am buying in!".....
So, here it is, dead of winter, snow and ice on the ground, and I get whisked away with another commentary. This time with a heavy Russian accent, discussing the design house of Salvador Dali (A brand which at least fifty percent of the time - I hate to love and love to hate!), and why I have to buy Laguna. So, after dutifully nodding for twenty minutes, off into the cart it went - and cha ching! Then, I had the audacity to get physically mad at this scent because the bottle was cold from delivery, and didn't smell much like anything. Here's the bottom line: This perfume craves heat, and clams up in the cold. It was silly of me to ask for anything more. Embraced in warmth, the lemon is brilliantly tart, the pineapple is luscious, the grapefruit is bright, and the Snozzberries taste like Snozzberries! (Wink.)
Seriously though, raising the Fahrenheit is essential to develop creaming chords of coconut, vanilla and sandalwood. Lily of the Valley has its chance to naturally cleanse, and musk with cedar do their part in grounding all those brassy top notes. I realize this is technically a 90s' perfume, but '91 was really just the 80s' attic space - waiting patiently to break out with some fresh effervescence after the last 10 year pounding we received with some real power scents and olfactory grenades. Remember in the eighties, movies tried to convince us you could break glass with really high-pitched sound? No, that was tuberose, gardenia and a high bred jasmine, that could be sensed in outer space! For our own peace of mind, we had to back off into the arenas of more "natural" scents. You're welcome, because things were getting pretty out of hand!
So, drawing to a close, there really is a season for this, and when everything is hot, and humid, and sticking to the ground, Laguna will be there, like it has been for the last thirty years: bubbling to the upmost layer of ethereal optimism, and hopefully allowing a deep breath; a moment of peace; or a long pause after the loudness of the world has weighed our shoulders for far too long.

vzorka3

OMG Pure nostalgia! ❤️ I used it in the 90’s. I remember how proud I was when I could buy a full bottle of it. I found it very sexy and seductive. Reading the reviews I’m very surprised that most of you find it to be a fresh summer scent. For me it was very sweet and spicy. But maybe it’s just my taste or unability to define notes properly. 😄

Mc13Kenzie

In all honesty, we buy this for the sculptural bottle...not necessarily the fragrance. Because it's a beautiful object unto itself.

My experience of the perfume is that the opening smacks of fancy bug spray. Not terrible, but the high key citrus really gets your attention. The drydown is much better: a buttery coconut-pineapple, reminiscent of pineapple upside-down cake or a kinky edible body oil. Somewhere along the line I get the gist of a calone type element. However, could be the power of suggestion.

arqnataliaferrer

The bottle i bought must be spoiled, all i could smell was wood, wood and more sandalwood.
I had to wait a long time for the drydown and can feel the vanilla.
It could have been a nice perfume with the rest of the notes, but too much sandal ruined for me.

kiraagold

Bingo hall piña coladas.

Peppery amber ashtrays, coconut and pineapple daiquiri mix, sandalwood sawdust on the floor, and plastic flower musk underneath.

It's kind of awesome in a retro chichi skirt way, though I was sort of hoping for some melting clocks, or waves that went on for eternity. Doesn't last long, but finishes on a lovely patchouli tinged vanilla.

Rozalina

Laguna is a sweet, aquatic fragrance with decent longevity. This smells more like a pineapple-scented "natural" linen spray than something I would want to wear myself. Not feminine, not masculine, kind of calone-like. If you like sporty fragrances, that's the vibe I get here. I recommend the perfume pen instead of buying a full bottle even though the bottle looks very cool.

kayleenanncooke

This is very nice and definitely unisex. This starts off with a 7up vibe that turns into lemon custard in the drydown. I can see why it is always sold out as soon as it is in stock online. Great for the summer and its not terribly expensive.

Konga5000

Again , I'd think that Dali, the man , would want something a bit more crazy OR provocative. This smells like an OK Tommy Bahama for $19.99 .Or at worst -- Think : Snuggle "Ocean Breeze" or Old Spice "Fiji Winds" ...... or Love My Carpet "Tropical Mornings".... or Calgon "Burmuda Car Wash"....or Kool Aid "Island Typhoon Devastation"....or Little Friskies "Deep Seafood Platter".....well, YOU get the picture. Hic.

Loredana0108

This fragrance has already reached cult status in the world of fragrance enthusiasts. Starts with a blast of citruses, mainly lemon, in a very typical 90's freshies way. At this point , I can't stop sniffing my wrist , it is so addictive. One hour later and Laguna morphs into a warm and rich fragrance, completely different from its zesty lemon start. As it developed on my skin, I was getting a deja -vu feeling (and I smelled Laguna for the first time this July). And then it struck me: the drydown is so similar to Joop Le Bain. I checked fragrantica and they share a lot of common notes . So don't be fooled by its fresh start, because Laguna is a deep ambery perfume . And the bottle is very nice , too.

Austrian_in_Denmark

I blind-bought Laguna, because the main ingredients sounded amazing to me. Citrus, coconut, sandalwood, vanilla: all super on my skin. Or so I thought, and then I sprayed it - and perceived the slightest note of plum wine, but basically Laguna is plastic with plastic on a base of plastic.

My guess was that the bottle had gone off, but then my friend T. sprayed Laguna on her skin, and it is super-pretty on her, like a lemon dessert.

Of course, my bottle became hers. I just kept a decant that I can spray, whenever I want to shake my head over the fact that my skin is a petrochemical plant turning fragrances into plastic.

Medium sillage and longevity.

bartenderbabe

Laguna does not strike me as aquatic, beachy, or summery in any way. Instead it hearkens an image of spring and cotton shirts drying on a line in a valley. The sun is shining overhead and the air is crisp and cool from the mountains looming in the background. A lemon pie is baking in the cabin nearby, and the scent of soft spices lingers all around. This fragrance is not water, it is air. It’s not summer, it’s spring.

Moukka

This was blind buy. I was going to get Sea&Sun in Cadaques but it was sold out. First spray smells like shampoo, aquatic, clean and fresh. After two hours I can smell only sugary coconut and musk, no aquatic or fresh notes. It reminds me Diesel Plus Plus feminine without obvious pineapple note. This is not not bad scent, but I prefer more aquatic scents. Too sweet for me.

MixedTastes

There are a LOT of notes listed for this fragrance, but I get lime zest (definitely lime, not lemon), coconut and a gentle iris only. It’s a faint, sweet, musky aquatic with very low sillage...and I absolutely LOVE it!

Laguna manages to be fresh, sweet, tropical, beachy and calming all at the same time. A quirky, clever, ethereal little fragrance. Great stuff.

Gemsense

Literally right after I wrote this review below, I decided to try this again. The first notes are zingy sharp lemon lime zinger! Then later I caught wafts of deliciousness! The powdery iris made it warm and sensually sweet. Like sugar lemons and warm sun glaze. It's actually uniquely beautiful! I'm so glad I didn't give this one away! I literally just gave away around 12 bottles I just blind bought due to disappointment upon first spray. I have to stop doing that. I know better! So glad this one was hiding. Also, this doesn't need to be layered with another fragrance, but I did spray near where I sprayed escada aqua del Sol and the two together was lovely! I can't wear escadas buy itself cuz of the pineapple but with Laguna it actually is quite appealing! They compliment each other very well!

Gemsense

When I tried this in cold weather it smelled like pink lemonade. I then tried it in warmer weather and it's just powdery Iris. I'll try it again at 90 degrees, maybe that's what it needs to sing on my skin? Otherwise I can't wear this until I find a good layer for it. It lasts all day too, of course, since I can't stand it.

JoannaGR

I don't know if I got a weird sample or batch, but this is a classic fresh lemony scent that reminds me of car fresheners or baby colognes. It's not unpleasant but it's so generic and uninteresting. Zero complexity. I get no coconut or pineapple and barely any (vanilla/tonka) sweetness.

LHaydee

I love this perfume, its like hug of warm air. I can remember the first time I tested Laguna, it was the most amazing scent I knew, it meant freedom for me. I love the way the perfume develops and changes on me over the day. The longevity on me is very good.
I have repurchased about 5 times already, definitely my signature scent. Sometimes i just sit and spray it in the air the enjoy the complexity of this perfume. On the other hand i can understand that some people hates it, as its a bit masculine and for some it can be too spicy...

justfloral

Warning: there are sometimes BAD TESTERS of this perfume on shelves, with juice smelling like combination of melting plastic and waffers, without the initial lemon note and coconut - only waffers and plastic.

Tasali

I blind-bought this since I remembered it from my early childhood. All of my mothers friends had this.
The aggressive and almost chemical initial burst made me so disappointed when I finally owned it myself. But it only took a few minutes for it to settle and soften. It is a little sharp and sour but something sweet in it also calms it down.
It does not smell like a regular vintage perfume, no soap or heavy spice/flowers, it is more fresh. Synthetic and plastic but not too bad, more like "meh"

MsLittlejohn

Very nice! Reminds me of a lighter version of D&G Light Blue.

EDIT: I like it in the air, kind of like an aquatic incense. Didn't last on my skin even through the night. Bottle is still beautiful...

chinook

The opening smells kind of unisex and cold, but that is quickly replaced by a well rounded, warm, oatmeal smell that I cannot describe, but is the exact same as Jo Malone’s Oat & Cornflower, which I have been looking for forever since it stopped being sold. I’ve been told that’s a woody scent, but to me it smells like oatmeal. It’s very comforting. In my opinion this is a fall winter perfume. Sillage is arms length.

Pandarapt

A haunted rendition of The Blue Lagoon chronicled after the (spoileralert) ill-fated encounter with civilization and the deadly cap it brought over paradise.
The most out-of-character pineapple I’ve ever smelled, smoky, dim-grim, no sunshine, fiesta or cocktail and the only lemon I’ve ever felt the need to cheer, together spicy dark and grieving over distant greenery hanging around a forlorn mass of water or something conceptually aquatic but that you wouldn’t dare to even dip your feet into.
It develops to a middle of a pond, salty-sweet, oceanic but not, dense and sparse, the similar impression I get with that other great unaquatic, Dune, and its theoretical if not alien vision of ambergris. This context is more tropical than the latter though, with some amphibious citruses and requiem white florals arranged in shrubs but equally preyed by specters dolefully reminding you about paradises lost. A summer goth fragrance. You beautiful unicorn, you.

AnitaHendricks

This perfume opens up with strong citrus notes. After this there are woody, white florals with some coconut. When you wait for ten minutes it starts to smell like car refreshener. There's this chemical layer hovering above the notes. I wish this could remove itself. I like what's underneath!

jp2004

Laguna is one of my faves. It's such so light and aquatic. Definitly the coconut. I think its unisex.
Great for men and women.

AHeartLikeMine

This is very unusual. It starts off light and better fitting to its name. But, it dries down to heavy bases such as tonka, musk, and patchouli (I don't actually smell the patch, but I feel an influence of its heaviness). I was expecting more of an aquatic fragrance, given the name (then again, I'm not actually familiar with lagoons).

Annemarie

Fabulous! I've owned a bottle of Laguna for about a year and reserve it for summer weekends and holidays, never work days. I'm just back from a beach holiday during which I wore Laguna every day for 7 days. I took some other summer fragrances (much more expensive things like Orange Sanguine, Eau des Merveilles, Philosykos,Eau de Rochas) but only Laguna really satisfied me.

As others have said, the individual notes don't matter as much as the overall effect, which to me is wonderfully relaxing and carefree. It helps that the lasting power is great, unlike other summer-themed fragrances. I get citrus over the top of a fruity accord (not too sweet) and a creamy coconut base. There are more notes in there but that's what I get.

There is a simple charm about Laguna, as with summer cotton shirts, sandals and floppy hats. It's good to let go of the more complex things that fill our lives with noise, and just relax.

Zaleska

I'm revisiting this interesting fragrance. It's citrusy and zesty and sweet and soapy. Just imagine yourself taking a good shower, wearing light clothes and a comfy pair of flip-flops, going to the balcony of your apartment (my case) drinking a good cocktail while admiring the landscape and feeling a cool breeze on your face.
For me, that's Laguna.

avierra93

interesting fragrance. if it were brighter it would be nice but it just reminds me of my grandparents house growing up, particularly the bathroom and entryway. maybe a cleaner or air freshener they used?

HOUSTONHOUSTON

Wow! Strong dislike.
Unusual? Yes. Pleasant? No!
Reminds me about: plastic, chemicals, cheap auto air freshener, caulking. Bad, just bad.
Not light, not aquatic or fruity.
Try before you buy.
P.S. Original Dali is my love.

meg0825

What an interesting fragrance! It's not quite what I expected, but I'm not at all disappointed. It opens with sparkling lemon and grapefruit and stays citrusy for quite a while. I don't find it very floral at all and it's mostly fruit, vanilla, and woods. The dry down is warm, woody, and balsamic with creamy vanilla, coconut, sandalwood, and tonka. The tonka really makes this fragrance for me and gives it a nice, warm spiciness. Gorgeous!

ReneeW1

Laguna by Salvador Dali is a unique scent. On me the first spritz is heavily green with a bit of citrus. I don't particularly like the first few minutes of this fragrance. Lucky for me the dry down occurs pretty fast with this and it turns into a heavenly scent. On me velvety vanilla and sandalwood are the highlight with just a touch of fruit to go with it and give a bit of sweetness.

I know this is toted as a summery beachy fragrance but it takes on a very warm feel when I wear it and I think it works just fine in cooler weather.

And it is very reasonably priced. Definitely worth a FB buy.

EDIT: The more I have worn this, the more I find the sandalwood overwhelming. In fact, the bottle is in a drawer and I haven't touched it in months. If you're a big fan of sandalwood, I think you'll enjoy this. I don't think I will be reaching for this scent again.

aromaminx

My mother has worn this for many years so I have great memories associated with Laguna as a result. Particularly caravanning holiday in Summer. I don't see my Mum as often as I'd like due to my work commitments and distance. Recently I was in a local gift store and was surprised and buoyed to find they carry some Salvador Dali perfumes, amongst them Laguna. Not only the gorgeous 'lips' bottles ,but travel 'pens of 8mls. I only bought the travel one because I wasn't too sure if I wanted to smell like my Mum. However, on first spritz it didn't bother me at all. I'd forgotten how gloriously refreshing this scent is and I will be purchasing a full bottle for my Summer holidays ,and work days when the sun becomes oppressive.

SucaBecca

Laguna is a fresh sweet delicious scent, well blended and balanced and freshened by the pineapple that works marvelously in the acords. Very summery fragrance and underated IMO. One that I keep coming back since a very young girl. It reminds me coastal vacations abroad when very young...after a day at the beach when we would dress nicely and summery for malls, restaurants, followed by long walks on "calcadao in Rio"...I ve read a reviewer mentioned that it reminds her vacations in Ibiza - totally agree! Not a 'natural rustic beach scene', but a city light beach scene, where you have entertainment, upscale shopping and nice restaurants to enjoy in the beach area.
And it is soooo affordable.Fresh, pleasant and "happy" that I also use it as an air freshener in order to raise my mood when Im home sick (living in northern US) - a very nice one :)

Daniela_Beatriz

To Bubbles1964: have you tried to turn the cap? It is probably not put right (my cleaning lady always put with the wider side facing the front instead of the thinner). That might be it.

Bubbles1964

I have a question about the bottle, specifically the cap. Does anyone know why there are different nose styles (cap)? Mine is the wider version. I bought it off fragrancenet but I noticed other shopping sites online show a thinner "cap" (nose shape is completely different).

Hoping I didn't buy a counterfeit and someone here can shed some light on the matter.

AnlisaC

I agree with the review below. It’s a great summer refreshing scent. My 14 year old daughter loves it. I have two bottle gave one to her. She goes to a private school so it works great on her with a light spritz ( they aren’t allowed to wear heavy fragrance to school). Which leads me to sillage, it’s light almost close to skin. It last quit long for such a lighter scent. It is very pretty on, the fruits shine forth and I faintly smell the coconut. This is a very different fruit scent not your normal girly fruit.

The bottle is not my favorite it’s definitely reminiscent of his art. Not my style. Even though, I recommended this for an adult fruity style fragrance.

damienthoresson

This is a very yummy fragrance. It's a totally synthetic bomb, but a fabulous one. It opens fairly citrusy and green, with the help of galbanum and lemon and dried down to a beautiful coconut/vanilla/sandalwood scent. Its bizarre - I've never really been one for Salvador Dali fragrances, but this one is just stunning. A little aquatic, also, which is strange as it isn't a listed quality. It feels like the scent Julie Adams wore as she swam in remote jungle lagoon, totally beguiling. Unique as many scents of the 80s and 90s were.

justfloral

Sad, depressing, traumatic scent. Synthetic. I've grown up in a communist country and it is how old (80-s) household goods store smelled (the plastic note - buckets, cheap lemon and vanilla essences, nettle shampoo... - all in one room).

It smells of: lemon essence + vanilla essence (like a mix of fragrances on the kitchen shelf where I store essences, also rum essences - almost like poppy seeds cake filling!) + menthol & anise candies + wintergreen (or some kind of rheumatism ointment) + nettle shampoo + nearly melting plastic + and finally ether !!! (difficult to describe sweet chemical scent : anise? + rum? + almond? + solvent?).

Lemon essence is the main note. After spraying I feel like ready to make dough. And then comes melted plastic, shampoo, menthol & anise and ether...I've tried many times... Not my lagoon. Lagoon??

PROS: carcinogen free!! (no benzophenone, BHT nor ethylhexyl methoxycinnamate)

DESJava

I was looking for a unique fragrance, so when i read about this fragrance and all of the comments, i was so curious as many of you (more than 20 comments)describe it as a "unique, unusual, weird" fragrance. I was intriqued and decide it to blind buy it (the same time i also blind buy Gres Cabotine)

When i get the package, i was so excited, Laguna has a beautiful bottle, but when i spray my left hand with Laguna and right hand with Gres Cabotine. I find Gres Cabotine more unique than Laguna.

Laguna has a creamy, soft smell while Gres Cabotine is more sharp green and has a much beter long lasting power and sillage. Maybe i need to give Laguna more time to adjust to my body chemistry. For now i like Gres Cabotine beter than Laguna.

yuliannart

I don’t know what notes give me this impression: opens as L’Eau de Issey Miyake and dries down to Duna by Dior. I am not a big fan of Issey, so the first spray is not a love, but I do love a fresher Duna. I am quite happy with my blind buy!

Bubbles1964

One one arm I sprayed this one, the original Laguna, and on the other the Laguna Maravilla (EDP, meant to replace Laguna EDT).

I pick up a bit of a synthetic plastic note in the opening, and I was half expecting this as I read other people smelled it too. It’s not enough to turn me off and after the opening it fades away, what’s left is a lemony-vanilla aquatic with a sandalwood base. I like it. A lot.

Both share the same DNA and Laguna is fuller, more tropical and sweet; surprisingly complex for a cheapie (I picked my 30ml up for $10). Maravilla smells genderless; a bit brighter and maybe more versatile. I can imagine wearing this in the Spring and Fall as well as Summer.

They are different in other ways, and I’m having a hard time deciding which I like better. If I had to pick at this moment, I would go with this one, Laguna. It feels a little bit more beach-y and summery. Surprisingly long lasting for an EDT.

And I still think the bottle is a quirky piece of kitsch, but it's also very cute in the 30 ml size.

marianafuzaro

Just like Salvador Dalí's paintings this perfume takes you to the land of dreams. All kind of images of summer, exotic places, tropical beaches, Spanish small towns with old houses with verandas against the immaculate blue sky, hot summer nights refreshed by the breeze of the ocean come to my mind. Frozen on time, with clocks melting, of course.
It's a beautiful perfume.
For those who miss it, it's almost identical to Brazilian cologne Aguas de Natura Opera Amazonica - Canto Vermelho, by Natura, discontinued many years ago. It's just a little bit greener and not soapy like its Brazilian copycat.

christineh8

I just adore it, a must for holiday wear, its unique, I have a bottle for sunny days, and oh so light.

Miffy8900

Very nice and vacation like fragrance. Coconut and lemon stands out the most to me, with sandal wood and vanilla lingering beneath. I don't get pineapple. I don't think it's only a summer fragrance, I think it can be worn all year. Discrete and stay rather close to skin - not a power house projection wise. Great lasting power though. Bottle is a classic true masterpiece and the color is amazing.

I had this one as well... When I first came out, it was sensasjonell, and different. But than something happened, and I don't know yet.

_Miranda_

I liked it when tested in a strip of paper. On my clothes it smelled good, but... on my skin, 10 minutes later it smells like bug spray...

lucianuncio

Recently got it as a present. When I opened the package and read the name, I expected something light and summery, definitely aquatic but eventually citric.
Turns out to be simply delicious! A year-round daytime fragrance, very unique, sophisticated and elegant as well as fresh, holiday-esq and uplifting!
An all-season staple for the weekends!

Alces Alces

Laguna is one of the few aquatic scents I can tolerate, probably because it doesn't have that fake water smell. Fruits, especially pineapple and lemon, with coconut sweetened by tonka in the heart notes. Vanilla works here, never becoming cloying or overpowering as it tends to. Longevity and sillage are moderate. Best on rainy days. Totally gender neutral. Laguna is quite nice, and I may try layering it with blatantly beachy scents once the sun returns.

drugstore classics

Yes, I agree with so many reviews here. Though not listed as an aquatic, to me Laguna has a distinct aquatic note that is nonetheless welcome, much to my surprise!

To explain: I LOATH aquatics normally, thanks to that odorous aroma chemical, Calone. So I think it's safe to say Salvador's creation is a great choice for calone haters who would genuinely appreciate an aquatic perfume in their wardrobe that doesn't reek! Further, you'll likely love the experience of wearing Laguna. She is well crafted, casual, yet elegant.

Highly recommended for a summer or beachy scent choice with unusual flair. Suitable for anyone with elegance - I predict most who love her will be past their teens.

ENJOY!

Mirella86

This was a blind buy. I was tempted by the notes and the shape of the bottle. I could say I hit the jackpot. It is a really fresh, holiday-mood inducing scent. Makes me think about waves, cocktails on the beach and walking on the shore at the sunset. I will take it with me in my next vacation. I only bought a 15 ml bottle, I should have taken at least 30 ml. Maybe next time...

AMBRA GRI

Hmm, for me, fruits are a big no-no and this is no exception. I feel like wearing a pina colada smoothie. Not sure what bothers me, i find it hard to wear. I don't really find it special, not even back in the 90s.

suzzel

Impression on first spray on wrist + hair.
Wow, yeah, this one's a weirdo. It's got a "cold" feel, however the f*** that's accomplished, withOUT feeling refreshing. Sweet, incredibly synthetic smell. Some impression of water, no natural body of water - maybe a trace of skin after a swimming pool dip? A little bit of chlorine? Iodine? And a strong sweet suntan lotion connotation - I can't pick out coconut as a note, but I'm guessing that's it, as a blur of chemical sweetness.

A tiny bit nauseating to me, actually. First time I react that way to a perfume. I think it reminds me of the chemically vanillic "Wunderbaum" scent trees for cars of my childhood, they'd always make me even more car sick.

Late next day: extreme longevity. I can see how some people enjoy this, there is that weird cold, swimming pool air around it.

ANNAFRYS

No thanks. It was good by the time they have lunched it but not anymore.
I understand perfectly someones sentiment to these times :)

FrkFors

I had this perfume when I was 15 and I'm 25 now. I remember very well what it smelled like!! I'm starting to miss it now when the weather is warming up and I crave a unique, fresh summer fragrance with some depth to it. It's a classic!

Roxanne25

Old time favourite that keeps permanent place in my collection. After the initial blast of lemon the most prominent note remains coconut (and maybe pineapple). The other notes are mixed so well that I can't single any one out. Laguna might look as summer fragrance, but there is depth in there that is not typical for the ordinary summer scents. I love to wear it in the summer evenings or in the autumn when mornings are a bit chilli but the sun is still shining bright during the day.
Extremely long lasting and projects really well.
There will always be place for Laguna in my heart and in my perfume wardrobe.

Russian girl

Laguna is often mentioned as "unique" and I fully agree with it. This is the best exotic/tropical scent for me so far. It is very complex and develops really interesting from tart, juicy citrus top notes to sweet woody base. I smell mostly lemon, vanilla and sandalwood. Laguna is powerful for an EDT. Very hedonistic perfume.

Arlene-Beatrix

At first it's a bit too sharp due to intense citruses I guess, but after a while it's very pleasant, sunny scent, carefree, unobtrusive and office safe.

Desertedbeach

I had this perfume a couple of years ago. I can't actually remember what it smelled of. It was THAT memorable...

Germanblonde

Wow, this was love at first spray. This eau de perfume is the perfect balance of sweetness, citrus and freshness. I intend to wear it a lot this summer. It was a blind buy like most of my frags, and a wonderful surprise indeed. She carries all the qualities that I was hoping to find in Estee Lauder's Bronze Goddess. Longevity is excellent, 10 plus hours without much fading.

UnearthlyApothecary

This is the perfect beachy/tropical scent: aquatic, tropical fruits and florals, COCONUT, with the perfect amount of sweetness. There is this bit of bitter green galbanum in the opening that I just love. The woods notes and patchouli in the base elevate this one, it’s more complex then any other “beachy” scent I’ve ever smelled. Niche-like. Very unisex. Great silage. The bottle is so beautiful and the scent perfectly matches it.

oftenconsole

Summer. Summer. More Summer!

It has everything – sunscreen, citronella candles, coconut, and daiquiris.

Strangely, the Salvador Dali Museum is in St. Petersburg, Florida of all places and this is a very Florida fragrance.

I think that It would be inappropriate to wear at night and I normally don't pay any attention to what time or season a fragrance should worn. I also wouldn't wear this if I was in a bad mood. It sort of invokes someone listening to "Walking on Sunshine" in a Camaro convertible.

The bottle is gorgeous.

socorrosouza

Noses are very strange, Laguna on me has no citrus whatsoever, it is a long lasting musky woody scent sweetened by fava tonka and amber. On me the rosewood, followed by musk and sandalwood are the most prominent notes a creamy (sandalwood and rosewood) sweet (fava and amber), although not cloyingly so, scent that seems lighter than it really is. Lovely but on my skin it has no shadow of lemon, coconut or pineapple. In fact Laguna besides the creaminess has a bit of powderiness brought by iris.

LadyPilot

I once wrote about my story with Laguna (as a Guest) - that I fell for it in late 1990s before my Proms, purchased in mid 2000s, gave it to a friend as I couldn't wear it but fell for it again. I repurchased it a few days ago and I'm totally happy! I'm ready again for this gem of the nineties, this soft, slightly tropical and aromatic freshness, this totally confusing freshness blended with fruity sweetness, this dream of paradise island holiday that brightens up my winter days and nights - Laguna, welcome back!:D

SpiritClose

Oh gosh, me too - a really gorgeous perfume!! I love it so much, and of course the bottle is deevine. I love Dali!

Konga5000

God Damn my NOSE! If I had picked this up 3 years ago-- I would have thought it fantastic.
Now- blind buy- after all I have sniffed-- my nose is too adult for this;
Marine- fresh- nice- just smells like a very good deodorant stick.
And DALI- the greatest artist of the 20th century.......

contatoatla

It's been 15 years since i fell in love with this fragrance. It used to be my signature scent.
No matter how much i try to change, to find something more elegant that fits my age best, i don't find anything like it.
It has a lot of personality, which is very hard to find now a days.
My only complaint about it is that i'm looking for something more modern and sophisticated, but it has been hard days trying to replace something so unique like Laguna.

Edemay

Wow, nostalgia in a bottle, this perfume reminds me of my childhood,
i think because it smells a lot like the mosquito spray my mum would spray on me in summer.
Starts off quite sharp but turns quite light and tropical

alchimia72

I love Salvador Dali' as an artist, so I really wanted to add one of his creations to my collection. Laguna attracted me. So I bought it completely blindly on the internet. I am positively impressed. It's esotic with the coconut but at the same time it's so comforting. A lot of compliments when I wear it. I love wearing it in the summer, it reminds me beach and Sun. Fruity and fresh at the same time, sweet but not overwhelming. It' not acquatic at all IMO. Well blended without screeching notes.

400blows

I occasionally return here to see what people have thought and felt about my dearest Laguna. It's wonderful to see how this unrivalled perfume confounds. My favourite few words: "... a very complex and unusual composition. Haunting and instantly memorable." That is the essential thing to know about Laguna: that it is preternaturally evocative and unlike anything else, ever. People are transported by it and often unable to identify what in it is so outstandingly different. Thanks everyone for entering its strange world and taking the time to appreciate that. It's good to know there are kindred spirits.

Jrkd70

Opening is a blast of OFF mosquitoe repellent which, for some ungodly reason, I love the smell of. Anyone else like that smell? Strange, I know.. I will update after wearing for awhile but as of now it still smells like bug spray. Anyone know what note that is?

scentedrat

This was a very successful blind buy. I've been looking for a beachy scent but not liking anything I've tried. This was cheap on eBay, recommended by Fragranticans, and has a pretty bottle, so I gave it a shot. At first, I get a bug spray note, which I actually like. Within a few minutes it starts becoming slightly sweet and a bit fruity. I never really get the florals of the heart notes, but seem to straight on to the base, which is where it gets coconutty. This is where things usually start to go wrong for me, but happily, this only go better! It never gets too sweet, cloying, or artificial, but instead remains breezy and pretty light even as the warm coconut notes develop. It wears softly on me, which I love. I catch whiffs of it, but it stays slightly distant, and I don't tire of it after an hour as so often happens with me. So not only do I love the scent, I love the character of it on my skin, which is a rare and wonderful thing!

AjaBlue

I do not know what I was expecting but I did not care for this at all after opening the box and ogling the bottle! I packed it up and began my return. However, I did not deliver the package to the post office. Instead, I ended up opening the package AGAIN and falling in love with the scent. I am a vanilla/gourmand lover. I guess the citrus in this crosses over into that category because there is also something creamy. Upon first spritz I get a burst of fresh lime and something faintly aquatic. Once the fragrance settles a bit, I can smell subtle notes of coconut water (ever so softly) and salty sea air. There is an undeniable masculine vibe to this that I happen to love. So, basically the image that floats to my mind is...this is how my thin, white gauzy cotton shirt (the one that goes over my bathing suit) smells after I've spent late afternoon at the beach closely cuddling with my boyfriend. Love the beautiful blue of the bottle and the uniquely Dali design. Also, the perfumer who created this also crafted many CdG fragrances and that is a huge PLUS for me.

Nikka Miró

Already enjoyed the Laguna, but today it gives me a headache . Its smell is sweet, with a jasmine note soaked in coconut milk which is very persistent . Its projection is powerful and lasts more than six hours on my skin .
Highlight for the bottle is a classic.

tandaina

It's summer vacation in a bottle. Light, pretty, sweet but not too sweet. Just incredibly enjoyable. :)

KarlekLila

Madrona hit the nail on the head with her apt review. Laguna IS the vacation fragrance of choice of a die hard Hypnotic Poison devotee. (In other words, its perfect for me)! I get a well blended mix of creamy vanilla, subtle coconut flesh, citrus (mostly lemon but not at all sharp or acidic), clean musk and something reminiscent of beach sand. The whole concoction reminds me of laying on a beach towel on white sand, clad in a bikini, while sipping a tropical cocktail. The mingled scents of the fruity drink, coconutty sunscreen, and salty sea air assuage my nostrils with the most perfect aroma of summer.
I will be wearing the heck out of this in July! Thanks Goldenfire5 for another wonderful swap! This is by far the most uniquely complex beach fragrance. It just may be the best summer scent I've ever encountered.
Sillage sits close to the skin but longevity is endless (well over 10 hours)!

Madrona

The Hypnotic Poison woman sits in front of the fireplace, snow falling outside. She sighs, gets her laptop out and promptly books a ticket to The Bahamas. This is what she wears on her vacation. Not your conventional, light, fruity, aquatic, super-citrusy summer scent, but still a Caribbean vacation in a bottle.

arefuthescroob

Definitely an interesting woody scent.

klein_gluck

Love it. it is sweet, salty, fruity but woody and some sort of dry kind of scent. Unusual, a bit old school, but still modern and interesting in my opinion. Lasts a long time.

ParfumAmour

Quoting from the above information "A warm floral fragrance of the sea shore." This is exactly right! This perfume gives exactly what is promised. The bottle design and name are also in synch with the actual end product.
I can smell my skin slowly suntanning, and sea salt drying from drops of blue water that splashed onto me.
There is a sensual undercurrent of musk too, tempered with a fresh breeze.

SIM2014

I loved this fragrance it's different from anything I've smelled before. It does remind me of a summer vacation at the beach, but it doesn't smell fruity or tropical on me.I got more of a fresh cool water type of scent.

alekymia

Is overall acceptable citrus absolutely citrus but I really expecting something more I feel really "short " Dissatisfied!

expectopatronum

Laguna is simply perfect if you live in a tropical country like me (although I also use it in cold temperatures); Laguna has a very retro/vintage vibe and I believe its was done to be BOLD and SURREAL. Not stupid cliche summer fresh smells but something about elegant girls. Its indeed not a usunal summer scent but a Dali summer, surrealistic in all the ways. Powdery and retro summer. My kind of perfume.

dsty

Laguna is an odd one - quite complex, and definitely not the typical fruity floral you might expect when you look at the note pyramid.

The very opening always makes me think how aptly named it is: it's like someone has mixed an oldfashioned kind of fruity perfume with sea water by accident, and then discovered the result is surprisingly nice and decided to bottle it. Just as weird as it sounds and not very natural, but original and pretty cool, really not unenjoyable. At this point I'm not entirely sold, it's not really my thing, but my interest is definitely piqued.
In the heart there's a phase where it gets closer to being a "normal" fruity floral, with prominent pineapple next to the aquatic notes and a lot of other, more muddled fruits and florals in the background. It's still original though, in that it's pretty heavy and rich for a summer scent, really not very fresh at all, let alone light. This phase lasts for a couple of hours, and then there's a period where the scent seems to be fading away, almost disappearing, making me think it's all over and Laguna is interesting enough, but after all just a mediocre "like" for me.
But no, it turns out the best is yet to come! After a while it's back as strong as ever, but entirely transformed: now it's all sweet and slightly spicy sandalwood and tonka, and most of all a wonderful vanilla that's deliciously boozy from the lingering juicy fruit notes. Lovely!

I'm obviously having a hard time describing this shapeshifter of a fragrance myself, so I'll just say I agree with Yohji below: "unique", "extravagant" and "contradictional" are exactly the right words for Laguna. I'm not sure I'll ever get a full bottle, but finishing up my decant should be fascinating at the very least.

AnnabelLee

This is one of my go-to summer fragrances. I smelled it for the first time back in 1997, I was fifteen: my mom bought a pen shaped 10ml atomizer for me. It was November -near summer here in the Southern Hemisphere- and I took it on a trip to Iguazu Falls. Nowadays, everytime I wear it I remember the rainforest, the enormous falls, the orchids hanging from the trees, Misiones's red soil, the summer showers in the morning followed by a blistering sun and Horacio Quiroga's short stories... Someone said before this flower blooms in hot weather, and it is true. The hotter the better. Otherwise the citrus won't show up and it can end up smelling a bit like plastic.

Catnip<3

Fulfills both the need of freshness and of warmth, it´s simply a scent I can´t get enough of. Love in a bottle!
Too bad it´s weak like a bodyspray compared to the 90's version, but whatever remains on the skin lingers on, and on, and on.

CindySwede

I like this one much better the newer version, Laguna maravilla, which I also have. Maravilla is too generic.

Sassy1

I love the idea of Laguna but actually wearing it is a much more complicated affair. It seems to fight with itself, looking for an identity.

There's just too much going on all at once here...too much salt water coconut trying to mix with citrus, fruit and flowers. It seems that this should exude a tropical flair but there's something dark here as well, exuding a somber tone throughout. I liken it to swimming in a beautiful blue ocean off a sandy beach while sharks swarm around you.

I'm sad that this Dali creation just doesn't click for me. I had high hopes.

Cielfir

Wonderful complex frag! Loved it in the 90nth, it blew me away in the Kingdom of Amber by Roger Zelazny! It has something marine, though it is not salty, and it has something soothing, though it is not sweet IMO, at list not sugary. For me it strongly assoсiates with a ship, that took prince Corwin back to Amber after many years of exile.

francie79

After hearing this mentioned a lot on the boards as a great summer fragrance I decided to give it a shot. This one was love at first sniff and I love how unique this scent is! To my nose it's a mixture of fruit and salty sea air...very invigorating on a hot day or anytime for that matter. It lasts about 6 hours on me with moderate sillage. A real keeper!!

rhaineclayton

I came so close to putting this up for swap. I blind bought this and did a little spray on my arm. Bleh! Citrus and I just don't get along and there was something that smelt a bit like dirt. Anyway, I gave it another shot today. Two sprays. Not so bad - still citrus but then i let it sit for a while and it just blooms into this lovely vanilla/ tonka bean/ sandalwood combo.
Keeping it.
And I love the bottle too.

Yurpdod

Laguna is full of contradictions but somehow actually works. The name, color scheme and ad campaign suggest that it will be an aquatic, summery fragrance, which it definitely is not. The fragrance is somehow fresh yet thick -- it does not have the open, airy quality of an eau de cologne. It is too oriental to be a warm weather fragrance, but too zesty and tropical to work during winter. In spite of all this, it is a pleasant and accessible fragrance.

Even though Salvador Dali himself was a surrealist, all of the fragrances released under his name seem impressionistic. After testing several of them, I've noticed that they all have a very diffused quality, with broad swaths of scent as opposed to distinct, individual, identifiable notes. While many fragrances adhere to the traditional pyramidal format, Dali's fragrances feel more like a vague fog of scent that you experience as a general haze.

The bottle is a work of art. The glass has a beautiful turquoise translucence to it. The shape is smooth and graceful, and the full lips and nose convey both sensuality and eccentricity.

Although I wish there was more depth and variation within Laguna, it still smells good and is successful as an overall fragrance. For such an inexpensive price I doubt you'll be disappointed with Laguna. If nothing else the bottle looks beautiful on a shelf.

marjorie.leduc

I wanted to like this fragrance, I really did.
But as usual, citrus-based perfume mix really horribly on my skin.
I felt like I was drowned in synthetic citronella and I just can't get it off.
I may try it a second time, but it was a bad attempt to try and make citrusy perfume fit my chemistry.

moonstarwolf

I bought a small bottle of this blindly and loved it, so bought a huge bottle. I mostly get the Sandalwood, vanilla, tonka bean, amber and some other woody and exotic/spicy notes. Not getting a lot of the fruity notes at all or coconut at all. I Love it though. I am totally into sandalwood/vanilla/ ambery scents! :) It seems a little exotic, like reminds me of Ibiza or an exotic Island. They captured the tropical (exotic) Island in a bottle, totally! It lasts quite long. I could still smell it on my wrist next day. The drydown is beautiful! This is a very unique fragrance. Kind of an ocean breezy scent with incense mixed in maybe?!

9154mf

I've decided I love this after wearing it 3 times. The first time I just didn't get it. Or maybe I didn't pay it enough attention. The second time I wore it on a hot night and I must say I think this just blooms in hot weather! I personally won't wear it in winter but for summer this is a divine option. It's different, it's oceanic but not watery, it's got a zest without being bitter, it has a hint of sweet and flowers but without either being the mien focus. I'm sorry I didn't know about this sooner. Wow I'm just really loving it. In the very beginning there is a hint of something that I get why some might find this a tad masculine, and indeed this would do find on either sex, but I find it beautiful as a woman to wear this with it's salty ocean breeze vibe with some strawberries and some tropical floral wafting in the background. I don't think I've known anyone who wears this, yet when I smell it I feel nostalgic and comforted and familiar. Love it!

KoceFF

Just bought it.
It kinda smells like a female version of Joop Nightflight to me.Maybe it's the pineapple... I only tried it on papper and it is winter,we'll seee.
Either way,it's not a bad thing,she likes Nighflight :)

Lionelited

I dont lile it at all. İt is too heavy and smells like male perfume.ı can smell grapefruit very strongly and some spieces. İt is definetly waste of money. Dont buy it if you dont want to smell like shave cologne

Malinda666

This is a classic Salvador Dali scent with a strong smell of the sea. Its a shame its so hard to get these days. Its a fragrance full of memories.

Julia1506

First time I'd tried "Laguna" was 25 years ago. Me and my best friend were on our way from the school. We entered a big department store and spent some time sniffing the fancy bottles of perfumes. Surprisingly friend of mine gave me a weird "nose-like" bottle and told me "try this one". And from this particular moment my perfume world completely changed. It was a shock. I was not prepared for this kind of scent. It was so delicate, clean, aquatic, so "green" and subtle! It was a love from the first spritz. Of course, first perfume I've bought for my own money was "Laguna". I used to wear it for years, forgetting it for some periods, but always coming back to it. Maybe it is just a nostalgia, but for me "Laguna" is a best fresh scent I ever had. It smells like youth, happiness and freedom, like a vacance on the exotic island. "Laguna", after so long time I'm still in love with you.

valbona.bergman

i am not sure how with all the notes in this perfume i ended up considering this to be a warm masculine scent! i would love to smell this on a man!maybe the cedar... very nice

Estêvan George

There are scents that delight us at first sight, others only at the second try, and going beyond, others only conquer us at the third attempt. That was my love affair with Laguna ... "Love at the third view."
The first time I tried it, I think this scent too much citrus, had not pleased my nose. After a while, intended to give a second chance to Laguna, I was in a store and this time I tried it in my skin. On the second try, completely changed my concept about it, it was very tasty, citrus and sweetie in the right measure, just not thought that the fragrance had married well with my skin. Spent more time, and every time I saw this beautiful bottle of perfume on online stores, ever more increased my desire to have it, even with the two previous experiments. Without thinking, I bought Laguna, and when arrived at home, after dating the bottle for a while, I decided to apply it on my skin. Result: was charming, magical, and extremely comfortable sweetie! I used to go out at night and the smell around me was pleasing me more and more.
Amazing how the sense of smell change with time... what was once considered "bad" after a while becomes a delight.
And the cool thing is that even it is a feminine perfume, Laguna married very well with my skin, which made me consider it unisex and very versatile.
Now, there's no way, Laguna will always be in my perfume collection ... continuous replenishment it because my love for this fragrance only increased with time!
It was worth to have given a third chance for him!
Love it!!!

shushkin

I have a huge collection of fragrances built up over many years but Laguna has still held its place in my top ten of summer scents. It really is invigorating. Amongst all the initial fruitiness I detect a peppery note that I think is the galbanum leaf which really makes all the notes zing! The sillage and longevity are both moderate on my skin. Dont miss out on this delicious invigorating olafactory experience and at least get hold of a miniature.

Electronic100

Every time I pass my bathroom I have to have a spray of it! Wonderfully evoking. Very unusual.

Nina81

I love this. My signature always.

carlosdavidz

I'm a men and I like this fragrance, is not too feminine and yet not too masculine, I think is in the middle ;) The longevity is good and the bottle is a piece of art itself.

Rosamelia

Oh the amazing artsy bottle! I wouldn't have minded if this had smelled like grandpa's tobacco (good news, it doesn't!) I blind buyed this and couldn't be happier. The perfume is quite good, in one word: tropical.

Lybarra118

Coconut, pineapple, wood, lemon, vanilla? Wowza! Laguna is a very unique sweet and sour scent, and although it's not a gourmand, it's yummy! I seriously can't stop smelling myself. The creator of this fragrance has rocked my world - I bow down.

And there's vanilla...in a summer perfume! I've always related vanilla to fall/winter, usually because of the sweet/cozy factor. But this juice is summer in a very unique bottle.

Out of the box, smelling it from the bottle, I actually got a hint of pickle juice - maybe I'm crazy - but it wasn't a bad thing. I knew right away this Laguna experience was going to be interesting, and man, I was right.

To me, this is a confident woman's perfume, yet it's comfortable and easy to wear at the same time. It isn't particularly sexy or sensual, but it's addicting. I wore it to work today and I feel very sassy. It's also not overwhelming or cloying at all, even after over-spraying; wrists, crook of elbows, shirt and hair. My spritzer finger just wouldn't stop, what can I say?

I'm in love and that was not expected at all, clearly. I've been dying to try Laguna for over a year, but I never got up the nerve to blind buy it. Citrusy fragrances are hit or miss with me (usually miss), nothing in between. Luckily I ended up getting it in a swap (thank you from the bottom of my heart PERFUMEADDICTION!).

If you're in doubt about blind buying, I say go for it!

tropic sugar

I had noticed this fragrance on here for a long time and always thought it sounded interesting but was always unsure about ordering a fragrance that was over 20 years old. However,I decided to take the plunge and order it and I just received it in the mail today. The bottle is very unique and quirky in a good way.If you like bohemian or eclectic styles and enjoy a mix of decorations you will love the bottle.I sprayed one squirt on my inner arm and waited. All I can say is this is a truely unique fragrance. In my opinion I still find it more feminine than unisex but I can see where some would find it masculine because of its woody notes. It opens with a citrus blast and I can pick up pineapple and and maybe some lemon.Honestly I can't pick up any floral notes at all other than a faint powdery note which I'm guessing is the iris and the middle note also has a plum fruit tartness. The drydown is what I love.It is creamy and woody with sandalwood and vanilla. This is a summer oriental that does take you to far away places. It is warm but fresh at the same time. Its like all the notes blend together to create this exotic faraway place. Its like when you drive to the ocean or beach and you step out of your car and your hit with a profusion of smells.Water, sand, salt, sunwarmed bodies and a soft breeze of flowers. For some reason this also reminds me of sea coral with a sea salt note. This works well in the heat because its a rather dry scent. If your looking for a fresh wet aquatic or fruity tropical scent you will be dissapointed.Although it has those notes the warm woody notes and vanilla dominate. It is very mysterious and tropical in a warm and balmy way.I am glad I tried this fragrance and will be trying the Maravilla version as well.If your looking for a summer holiday scent that no one else will be wearing def give this a try.Beachy in an unusual way,but it just works!

kneissl

I received this as a gift and just today opened the box to give it a try. Am not at all familiar with Dali fragrances ... just too many scents our there! I had no intention of wearing this going by the notes listed here, it sounds like a fruit bomb, kind of like the Escada yearly editions that just get worse with time! It's not that I don't like fruity scents, if done right they are lovely. I cannot stand the obvious ones that smell of Ribena or strawberry milk shake.

I don't get pineapple or coconut at all in the top notes, in fact I have no idea what I am smelling specifically. To me it smells aquatic, salty, a little peppery with a sweetness and wet woods in the background. Right now it just smells gorgeous on me. I shall enjoy wearing it this summer! I do love the bottle, it's so very retro!

ScarlettX

I think this was supposed to smell like salty sea and vacation at the seaside, but it's kind of soapy in my opinion. Also, very very strong, it makes my nose itch. There's a lot of fruity notes in it, but somehow I sense more sandalwood, tonka bean and amber.
I think it's not quite what I expected, but it still got me thinking of summer and seashores. I think it's because of this beautiful bottle.

lizardqueen

Laguna is Dune's little sister. Both share a salty note, but while Dune is desert-like, Laguna is tropical. I wouldn't call it a "fruity-floral," however; it's more of a light oriental, which I prefer over the ubiquitous fruity-florals crowding the mainstream market today.

Czarcasm

I've been dying to own this scent! Dalí is one of my favourite artists and because of that I decided that I should give his perfumes a try when I was vacationing in Spain several years ago. Despite the odd bottle (it's a pair of lips with a nose on top, hehe) Laguna was my favourite out of the ones I tried and it has been stuck in my mind ever since.
Back then I wasn't aware of the notes and I was scared that I wouldn't like it anymore after finding out about them. I'm not a big fan of pineapple and it tends to be overly sweet in scents on me. Lucky for me, Laguna did not disappoint and it is still the same lovely, mysterious and mesmerizing scent. I'm so happy that I got this. I got compliments while wearing it from even the most criticizing people!

Laguna is a vacation in the shadows of a hot, humid Mediterranean town laying low in the valleys. I wouldn't call it a beachy scent, but it reminds me of vacation nonetheless. Whenever I smell it on me I just relax and at the same time it energizes me too. It's impossible to be stressed out while wearing this lovely fragrance. Its notes are blended really nice and the scent itself is slightly sweet, but creamy. Laguna also has a certain mysterious depth. Not deep enough to be sexy, provocative and seductive, but it does tease and stimulate the mind to make it slowly lose control.

On my skin Laguna is a lovely mixture of pineapple, vanilla, coconut and a hint of musk and wood. Very fruity, which I love. It smells like a delicious tropical drink with some vanilla ice cream added in. It's vaguely reminiscent of Pina Colada, without the alcohol smell. The dry down is mostly vanilla and a hint of powder, yet it still smells fruity and a bit tropical. Laguna remains incredibly fresh and fruity despite the slightly powdery dry down.

This is definitely one of my favourite perfumes ever. I have never smelled anything quite like it, and everything is blended together just right. Not a single note overpowers which makes it very interesting to wear, because you smell different notes and combinations every single time. I look forward to wearing this for many more years! This is perfume done right.

This perfume makes me wonderfully happy. We have a long, cold winter here (it's April 5th and there is still lots of snow on the ground!) but being able to wear this perfume reminds me that spring will eventually arrive. The initial fruity kick is (on me) gone within minutes and it settles into a fresh, vibrant floral with clean iris, jasmine and rose. The sandalwood and musk sort of anchor the scent to my skin, but they never overpower the beautiful florals. Blue skies, blue seas, blue bottle... this is spring, the seashore, the beach, fields of flowers. I will be wearing this all spring and summer, and then saving the beautiful bottle for years to come.

I have only ever worn Dalissime in my youth but I have never tried any other Dali fragrances. I love the flacons but I guess I never really took the fragrances seriously, or perhaps, because they are difficult to get in the UK, I maybe thought that there were many other perfumes out there which I could try.
I have wasted many olfactory years waiting all this time to try this little gem of a perfume.
Thank you so much lovely Fragrantica Yohji for gifting me this fragrance.
This perfume opens up with a rather harsh, green, blast of dry citrus fruits. I found the initial spritz rather sharp to my nose but the fragrance then settles down into a much softer, woody, slightly powdery floral. The fragrance morphs into a beautiful soft woody but sweet scent which keeps wafting up at me, gently reminding me that it's there. For an EDT this is very impressive as it seems to disappear and then reappear like a magicians assistant! The beauty of Dali is that just like his wonderful paintings, this perfume becomes a little surreal and I find myself wondering where have you been all of my life!

I am sooooo In Love with this perfume!! I get a lot of Vanilla and Amber and those are two of my absolute favorite notes! Maybe a little sandalwood as well. Little bit powdery and soft and sexy/romantic. makes me feel sexy! It is very pretty!! I am purchasing a huge bottle now! I only have a small one and there is no way it will last me but a week or two, maybe! lol

How to write review about the fragrance which after certain years and dozens of bottles became more as your natural skin scent and at the same time feels like you are falling in love again with each spray?..I think better once more to look at Salvador Dali's paintings and realise that Laguna and all other aromas from brand Salvador Dali are : unique, extravagant, contradictional and exceptional. Period.
As someone mentioned - to me its also more sweet-spicy oriental rather then floral-fruity. It does evokes sandy beach and horizon line via the sea, its somehow connects you with happy sunny days full of hopes and sensuality. There are friends in our life who always smile and who instead of crying with you will cheer you up, will make you see bright sides, same does Laguna. Mood lifter.
Fresh, salty-and-sweet at the same time, spicy and peppery, Laguna, - I surrender!

i must have this one again... i ve thrown away all my empty bottles of this and now i regret and miss it so much... nice times...
I just purchased a kit w body lotion, just waiting when it arrives to use it!!
i´m in love again ...and the body lotion is delicious, love to carry it on my purse...
10/2016 - and i've purchased it again, I realize it is kind of a signature scent ever 4 me! There' s something salty about it , the same vibe i catch when smelling Dune and L L.Lempicka. Not the same scent, but the same salty dry sandy vibe...

This is the song, 'Aquarela do Brasil'- bottled. Find it. Listen. And then you will understand this short review.

The first few moments with Laguna on my skin have left me mystified - after reading all those reviews raving about the complexity and originality of this scent, all I was detecting was some sort of generic smell of cosmetic products...
But wait! That was a few seconds ago. Very quickly the fragrance starts taking on a shape that fits very well - in my opinion - with the lovely and fantastic green/minty/bluish colour of the bottle and the box.
Not sure if that makes sense - but it's really an unusual fragrance, one that somehow does evoke memories of beautiful, sunny bays, saltiness on your skin, summer flowers, exotic cocktails and - strangely - also cleanliness. There is a grounding base in there too, woods, leaves, the breezy cedar and then the lovable vanilla. Unusual, easy and romantic.
Somebody here says: "oh, my darling, Laguna" and yes, I am thinking that it could become my darling too. :-)

This fragrance revives my memories of South Italy. Always brings me to Sorrento area and Capri isle, no idea why... When i was there i used Gucci by Gucci only, but now, if i want to bring my memories back i use Laguna. Not the best scent of ages, but it worth the feeling to be in Campania.. at least inwardly.. and hope to go there in the future again...

mad.kat.96

Another one that doesnt show itself on me. I only get a nice but very light floral if I actually touch my nose to my skin.. I'm mid 40s but not dry skin.

Jelious of others who can experience its full beauty

taninha07

once upon a time it was my signature fragrance , once when i was faithful , to just one scent . it was tropical , innocent , sweet , just like the girl who wore it ... these days , i wear it , around my daughter , who loves it too ... and ``we `´ r a wonderful view of `´me `´ , way back when ...and the waves still brush my feet ...

emmavanilla

i love this perfume.it is citrus at the beginning and has a warm sweet vanilla ending.really good on my skin but i wish it could last longer.as for the bottle crazy , creative and eccentric like the artist.the best of the Dali perfumes :-)

ZELJO

a great one, in the classic area, which for me is the best possible way of perfums, strong smell, so rich and aristochratical,if you are into big ones a la Shalimar, etc, go for this one, and what a beautiful bottle

j'adore dior

I bought it when I was on plane going to Greece for only $10. It's quite good but I'm not really a fan of such strong smells but it went well in hot Greece. The smell reminds me of sun, beach and palmtrees.

Laguna is a pleasant surprise. I read as much as I could about it, and it is indeed Mark Buxton's seminal 1991 "sweet floral" (as the Leffingwell lists it) that honestly does feel like more of an ambery oriental. I own Dali Pour Homme and I've always felt that it's a surprisingly high-quality composition boasting some decent materials, given its price-point. So with Laguna I figured the materials would be good, but the composition would be predictably fruity and aquatic with little to hold interest. How wrong I was. It's actually a stunning perfume, a novel construct of citrus and coconut on top, with a beautifully flattened iris/jasmine accord on a gently-spiced vanilla and sandalwood base. Even though Laguna yields these notes separately, it's better to accept their rigorously-blended nature and not over-analyze it. Just feel it instead. It's a lovely feeling. And the fact that it cost me $6 for one ounce is amazing.

In many quarters Laguna is called an oriental. One person here even likened it to Chanel's Egoïste. I agree that the structure follows a traditional oriental style, with citrus, florals, vanilla-amber and precious wood notes. I definitely don't smell any similarity to Egoïste, but it's been a while since I wore Egoïste, so I'll have to revisit that one in full for a better idea of how these two relate. What is undoubtedly true is that this perfume is unique, boasting a few accords that you are unlikely to encounter anywhere else in mainstream or niche perfumery. I can safely say that this is a "new" fragrance for me, in that I recognize its elements and feel some vague comparisons to other things, but can't remember ever encountering anything directly similar to it. Luca Turin labeled it a "transparent fruit" fragrance, and said "it smells the way backstage singing sounds in opera - unseen and haunting."

Spot on, Doctor Turin. Spot on.

Always loved this one, I used to wear it back when I was like, 14 years old and now that I'm 33 I would love to get me another one of these for the nostalgia factor (and the smell too, of course!) Don't know if it would smell as good as I remember but I would like to try!

bagaceirababyy

Smelled it on the paper and what a felt it was a tropical warm lime vanilla delicious scent. Had to buy it.
I'm sad on my skin this didint developed as on the paper...it turned on a really lemony, pineappley powdery scent with a hint of vanilla. ITs not bad at all, but didint loved as I tought I would. But yes, still very tropical, I like to wear casually when I go out for a walk, since I live on the cost and here is always warm.

Sannee77

Oh my darling Laguna! I've loved you for twenty years, and you've never let me down. This is the most special fragrance I've ever had. The best way of describing it would be "eccentric", but in a really charming and kind way. It really does feel like a turquoise lagoon in the French Polynesia. When the reality gets too harsh and the winter too cold, Laguna is there to take me far away.

No True Scotsman

I've had this on and off (off just now) since my mid-teens in the mid-nineties, I've probably gone through at least six bottles in total. If I use it very often (daily) it does get a bit boring, but if I leave it for a while it starts to grow on me again.
It is a very good summer scent, softly sweet and just a teensy bit spicy. 20 years on, this does not feel nearly as dated to me as a lot of other nineties scents. I wouldn't describe it as being modern, more as timeless. Pretty ageless, too. It works very well on girls and young women, but it still feels age-appropriate now that I'm in my early thirties, and I would be equally happy to smell this on a fifty-something.
Although it isn't aquatically fresh or green or airy-floral, it's definitely one for warm weather, very juicy and delicious. And totally affordable! Might go and get myself another bottle sometime soon.
Edit - ordered myself a cheeky wee replacement today! Silly really cause I probably won't touch it till next summer, but I was overcome by self-pity (feeling ill) and yearning. Plus it was only a tenner.

Well, I tested 2 versions -pour femme- and -pour homme- of this e.d.t. And finally I purchased feminine version of "Laguna" ,cause it's smells stronger and lasts better on my skin. Such a great tropical fruity juicy opening -imagine exotic sea-shore and tropical cocktail. Very uplifting! Middle stage is sweeter with gentle flowers notes and getting more powdery character. The final dry-down stage is very gourmand and warm -Tonka, vanilla, coconut and amber makes it work. Not overpowering and long lasting creation. Great unisex fragrance (like most of Dali's perfumes!) for spring / summer seasons (I'm not sure about this one to use it during cold weather). Quite interesting, when it's starts raining during summer days "Laguna" getting back much stronger aura. Each time I spray this concoction it turns me on "On Vacation" mode...Highly recommended! :)

mihaela01

Creamy,for summer,I feel happy whenever I wear this.Very well-done perfume,such a warm drydown a very good choice.

This smells like a Maxfield Parrish painting looks.

I had to buy it for the bottle, that bottle is so fun! It was a blind buy, being as it's cheap and I've never seen it in any shops around here. I don't really like the actual fragrance though. To me it smells like a cheap men's body spray. I don't think I got a dodgy bottle or anything, as I do smell pineapple, a bit of lemon, vanilla, the tiniest bit of coconut. These are all notes that I should enjoy, but the combination isn't working for me. Something about it reminds me of those cheap aftershaves that obnoxious young guys like to drench themselves in - which is a horrible association. Maybe it would work better in warmer weather, but unfortunately I live in a country where warm weather is unheard of. I'll try it out a few more times and update this review if my opinion changes, but if all else fails at least I'll have that bottle to look at!

soulflwr

I absolutely adore this one! For me it's not just a summer fragrance, it's specifically a vacation scent. It smells just like a trip to the beach - I meant JUST like it. Think of sand, sunblock, wet towels, flip flops, salty water, fuity drinks...not to mention the wonderful outdoor beach sun and heat. Somehow it's all in there!

Bigsly

The summer version of Egoiste by Chanel, IMO. It's a little sweeter and not as heavy, but if you don't find Egoiste at all "feminine" you may want to try this in the summer (if you're a guy). It's not "synthetic," though top quality ingredients may have made this one smell incredible, and it's quite well balanced. Of course my bottle may be vintage, so reformulations might smell different. It has a sort of fizzy quality that Egoiste doesn't but is otherwise that kind of scent. Note that if you don't like rosewood notes (some think they smell like hairspray) you should sample before buying a bottle.

Laguna is a different sort of tropical fragrance. Warm, and creamy from the coconut/tonka/vanilla combined with sweet lemon and powdery iris. It makes me smile. I find it approachable, but quite sensual. Creamy, a bit of powder. The lemon brightens it up. This is a fantastic beachy fragrance that will appeal to those who normally turn their nose up at the word "beachy". Love.
