this is glorious. I loved it so much and was a beautiful way for me to transition from feminine to masculine scents. The most beautiful leather opening that dries down to a softer raspberry, mixed it with black afgano by nasamatto and it was evangelical. so beautiful.

Tasherapd

Smells very similar to Stephanie Brujin Cherche- Midi. It’s the combo of raspberry, leather and vanilla. They’re so similar I would just purchase the least expensive. This is a very pleasant scent. The leather isn’t masculine it’s very gentle and smooth. The fruits aren’t loud and artificial. This is one of the better underrated Diptyque scents.

Wiek_scents

Very smooth and pleasant, leather is often unappealing to people. This however is very safe and enjoyable for most. This fragrance is for people who wear black clothing and just don't want to bother anyone with their scent, yet still smell nice. Clearly some high quality notes in here, but its just not for me. The longevity is not that great and the projection and sillage are just not strong enough for my liking (this of course is subjective). Great signature scent you can wear all year even in the summer. Since its not overpowering at all. Feel like there is some oud in here but it's not listed. I want to make a nice analogy but I just don't get any spark from this fragrance.
Described in 1 sentence: Quiet unbothered morning and dressed all black

Eau Rihla is a more polite, not as intense version of Tuscan leather.....maybe Tuscan Leather done Hermes way.
Profile is the same, ingredients are good, longevity is fine, projection is not too strong, so it is easy to pull off and not irritate others, unlike with TL. Ambroxan like note is very tame and i (probably the biggest ambroxan hater) live with Eau Rihla just fine, even wore it a few times during summer without any issues.
If Tom Ford is a no, try Eau Rihla, it might be just right for you.

milkspace35

I used to enjoy Eau Rihla a lot, and I used to think it was an everyday-wear type of smell, but after expanding my repertoire on fragrance and fragrance houses, I revisited Rihla and understood why people deem this fragrance as "too much". I still haven't quite put my finger on what it is that makes it "too much".

I still enjoy this one, don't get me wrong, it's such a luxurious and realistic leather, but again, it's not an everyday wear kind of fragrance. Maybe for date night? Not sure, but I'm saving this for occasions.

shokravee

upon initial spray, without looking up the notes, i thought wow what a nice little violet + leather combo, it goes into that cucumbery/watery violet leaf direction just slightly short of turning into a gasoline scent (which i like regardless). the type of leather here is like brand new car seats, like tuscan leather and ombre leather, so u know instantly that it's likely paired w raspberry. it's slightly smoky, but not really animalic.

Rayy.an

It's all about the nice Oud in this oriental perfume, and I wonder why they don't mention any oud the ingredients!.. Dyptique never share their full notes..

aspirina

This scent is a little bit too much for me. Red berries, burn tires, latex, ink, leather...shifting in a weird kaleidoscopic experience. I don't know, It feels too chemical and aggressive. Not my cup of tea. Not a safe blind buy, I am glad I just got a sample.

Urbi87

It' really sensual and warm: when I tried it, I was smelling my arm continuously for 3 hours.

KKDYLM

Fruity leather!!! The perfect feminine leather scent. My nose was practically glued to my arm when I sampled this. Beware, as this is a beast and probably isn't the most crowd-pleasing because of the dominance of the leather.

diegogo29

Smooth!! People will compare this to other fragrances but I don’t think that does it justice. I can just say that I don’t like Tuscan Leather still making up my mind on Godolphin but this… this really captivated me from the start!
The iris and vanilla here although subtle make all the difference imo. This is not in any way harsh or abrasive. This is strong but smooth from the start. I can detect the raspberry through most of the life of the fragrance. The raspberry gives me a cherry chapstick vibe… I don’t know how else to describe it. As it settles and begins to dry down that Iris and vanilla come through and rounds and tames the leather. The leather never turns too harsh or animalic until it is the last note the following day when I smell my shirt and even then it is the smoothest most refined leather. I did not consider myself liking leather fragrances but after eau rihla don’t know myself anymore. I’m in love with!

mariforeverr

this is a really intense leather, think tom of Finland leather, with a nice raspberry that goes away pretty quickly. similarly to oud palao and other deep deep scents I like it on my boyfriend but can't see myself wearing this anywhere. it needs something to balance it in the base

violeteme

Typical synthetic tire gum-like fruity leather. Nauseating.

msudersin

It opens up with a strong leather note with the raspberry in the background. The leather is not suede, it’s like a black stiff leather- almost the same one used for couches and not apparel. Unless you’re a fan of leather, this may be too overwhelming. The leather remains in the dry down too, I barely get a hint of the vanilla.

Vickalicious

A more chemical/synthetic version of Tuscan Leather, drying down to leather and ambroxan musk. It's a pass.

Navid3

I'm not a leather fan but i appreciate this. This is how Tuscan leather would smell like if it was beautifully done to smell refined.

woodfreak

At last a perfume from Diptyque that has longevity and sillage. I absolutely love it, it’s the perfect balance between musky leather, iris and raspberry - it’s elegant, fresh, modern yet classic.
In the Fall it will be even better, but it works great in the summertime as well. Overall I’ll likely layer it with my Tam Dao which is my most favorite scent ever (minus its non-existant sillage/longevity on skin). Rihla last a few hours before you will want to re-spray -however unlike Tam Dao, it’s enough to do 1-2 sprays . Absolutely love the tester, will probz buy a full bottle.

Angekkuma

OH THAT DRYDOWN.. THAT DRYDOWN!

so heavenly. intoxicating, comforting, sexy. this is the first and only leather fragrance i am head over heels for

The Real Lee M

Curb your enthusiasm. This is nothing groundbreaking. A raspberry/leather. Almost as ubiquitous as rose/oud. If you own Tom Ford Tuscan Leather, FM Moon, etc you'll likely find this redundant. It's a good buy if you don't have this DNA in your collection. It's well crafted. It's smell good. Just not very interesting. 7/10

blondie353_4

I stopped by Dyptique to check what they had (re)released for summer. This stood out to me on the paper but it is even better on skin. It pulls quite raspberry and leather heavy, but somehow still feels like something that could be worn in the summer. I would love to own this, but unfortunately I already have a full bottle of Frau Tonis Vild, which feels extremely similar and can't justify Eau Rihla's price point if it is not a standout in the collection. I do prefer this to Vild as it pulls a bit more raspberry and a bit less leather on me, making it more femme but alas...

alphairone

This reminds me of the smell of the raspberry jelly filling one would get in a Lu Pims chocolate biscuit, smothered in suederal and safraleine a la Tuscan Leather. Do I like that?

Hell no.

Sure it's sweet and memorable, but memorable in a way that I really want to forget it but won't because its so horrid. This is also INDELIBLE, like a permanent marker. I wish I had Lava soap to get this bilge of my skin. Apparently time-tested, decades-old Diptyque now rides tired trends. Duly noted.

AlAmmari

Gorgeous scent, I am not sure how the perfume has leather, vanilla and warm spices yet feels so fresh and is wearable in warmer weather. Easily one of my top ten, difficult to find though and price is to expensive considering its a 75m. Unfortunately it barely last 2-3 hours.

svex

OK I worked on this review for a while but I'm just not bothered anymore as I no longer feel so emotionally connected to the scent. without further ado here it is:

'Where to start. A letter to he who wears Eau Rihla.
Can I just start by saying this smells a million times more interesting sweet and memorable than TF TV. I don't think Diptyque ripped TF at all. This fragrance is effeminate and sweet. It doesn't scowl at you like TV does.

You only need one spray, two if you're feeling really crazy. Truthfully you probably only need two sprays weekly.
It is truly eternal. I would spray it on the collar of my shirt at his house and the smell would linger for weeks if not months. The scent of the dry down just gets better, rounder, over time.
THIS scent is absolutely beast mode. It smells like sharing a punnet of raspberries with someone who could potentially love you.
This fragrance lets people know you’re more worldly or whatever than them because you have to go to New York or some shit to get it. One can only wonder of someone whose signature scent is Eau de Rihla what their signature was before it. Surely they just spawned from the primordial soup smelling like that….'

I used to find this scent really fresh but now when I am around this person who wears it strictly, the peppery smell is overpowering and it sort of smells like cigarettes or dry, hot ground. I will say it is definitely "hot". it's pink peppercorn for god's sake. this scent will /not/ deceive anyone of the wearer's Psychorigidité. it's good for men who think they are better than others but don't want to assert it too overtly. like him, memory of eau rihla pulversises in its absence. I stand by my claims about its longevity, however...

teh

Very interesting how a scent is perceived so differently by different noses. I don’t see this anywhere close to Tuscan Leather, let alone Ombre Leather. Eau Rihla smells much closer to Ombre Nomade or even Nouveau Monde to me, even in the concept. Overall I find it too sharp and unoriginal, the dry down smells particularly synthetic and somewhat low-quality. But it’s rare for Diptyque to have a scent with such superb performance - almost the same level as a true Middle Eastern scent.

lmnsvgz

It smells like a stack of cash that has been held in a leather bag and has been sprayed with a raspberry body spray. Really hot

derby2169

Essentially everything nice from the Tom Ford Tuscan Leather extracted and reinterpreted in the ethereal and elegant style of Diptyque. If the Tom Ford is the flashy, gritty, edgy older brother, Eau Rihla is the elegant, sophisticated younger brother. A similar saffrony suede note runs through the formula but it is softened by loads of powdery iris and musk in the base. If you like the idea of a saffron-y suede but want more of a translucent and gentle approach, then this is for you.

jdfrag

A beautiful, sweet, and fruity leather fragrance, Eau Rihla is truly an enjoyable and interesting creation.
To me, the fragrance opens with an unmistakable raspberry note that's not overly sweet or cloying at all. After some time the raspberry begins to fade away and the leather takes over a bite more. There are slight undertones of smokiness and vanilla, and in the dry down the wood comes out of hiding a bit more.
Eau Rihla is undoubtedly reminiscent of Tom Ford's Ombre Leather, but it's noticeably more playful and explorative, and definitely less manly. This beautiful fragrance is plagued by its mediocre performance. Its potency fades after the first 2-4 hours and it seemingly completely disappears after 6-7 hours. If its longevity and performance were a bit better I'd definitely want a bottle for myself, but at this price point, it can't be merited - 7.9

ds23pallas

I really like this, but it is essentially a smoother version of TF Tuscan leather. I wore each on each wrist and at first I couldn't tell the difference; after 30 mins the Diptyque was softer whilst the TF had some harsher note in it. Both fantastic but you dont need both of them

NoseE

100% leather no side notes after 30 mins

Lom

I am surprised that oud is not listed. This really reminds me in the opening of Nouveau Monde by Louis Vuitton. The opening is a sharp over the top oud and leather, which dries down to something of a used leather and play dow odor. It is nice, I prefer LV's amazing perfume.

pcchoon

Literally TF TL clone

likesleet

strong leather. with the vanilla it almost smells like tobacco. unlike a lot of leather frags, this is more linear as it opens and stays with the leather smell.

podniece

Disliked at first, it opens up over time and completely seduces. A complex and intriguing leather fragrance; wearing it is definitely a journey (what the name suggests). I wear it together with Eau Duelle EDT for sweeter finish - highly recommend this combination. Brings out the best of both of them. Excellent packaging, story, vibe, deepness.

Pnnbread

This.... is what I hoped Bibliotheque would be. I enjoy that scent as well but the fruit is a bit too cloying and the leather is not as rich. I was afraid that the raspberry note would fade over time, but it really stuck around until the end! Projection is impressive, I tested 1 dense spray on an arm and caught full whiffs of it for the next 4-5 hours. The iris adds a lovely softness. It's warm and sweet and buttery but definitely unisex.

QuentinsBeach

Sample was popped in the bag last time I bought a 75ml from them of something else. To me, this is leather, leather, and leather, in the way that Tempo is patchouli, patchouli, patchouli. The fruity and flowery to me characterizes the leather, blending in a gestalt, so the leather feels ripe, and a tiny bit powdery, which leather frags can be, so I don't experience the fruit or flower as itself. I experience it as a linear leather. As others have said, new car leather. Expensive leather. New as in somewhat clean then. I don't get wood. I don't get vanilla, but of course vanilla very easily becomes not vanilla-ey in some blends. If you like either of Tom Ford's two big leathers I think there's a reasonable chance this will appeal. As leather frags go this is surely a top one. But if you're like me that's irrelevant. I was silly to try it as I'm just not keen on leather dominant frags, but hey, it was there, what else was I going to do.

adelaidesandrina

I agree this smells like clean $100 bills LOVE it.

ckorp8

On skin it just opened leather with a touch of saffron and raspberry. The dry down was a soft vanilla scent. The vanilla dry down lasted about nine hrs. On clothing, it opened up with the three top notes quite noticeable staying a long while before turning leathery. The leather dry down lasted for more than twelve hrs. Didn’t get any vanilla nor iris nor cedar in the dry down of the clothing spray sample.

chlorodream

It smells like money and leather. New car smell if your car is a Lamborghini. Light fruitiness indicates a strong woman is driving. It’s a great road to be on, just not the one for me.

Edit: I can see what others are saying about a sunbaked leather on a ranch too. My first thought was Lamborghini because of how expensive it smells, but I do see expensive sports cars as a hot weather item too. I think the fact that it’s SUCH a realistic warm leather is what makes it a scent I can’t reasonably wear in rainy Wales.

botany28

My first time enjoying a leather note. It's like, leather that's been left out in the sun all day. Such warmth.

It's being out on a ranch, and there's fruit juice residue on sticky fingers from scarfing down a handful of berries, then wiping fuscia stains on saddle leather.

When I smelled it at the store, I didn't immediately think I would wear it myself, but I couldn't stop inhaling, and was convinced (easily) to purchase. On a strip, the leather note lasts longer, but on me, the sweetness of berry is intensified.

So soft, so warm, so lovely. An instant top five candidate, I'd say.

ozymandia

Eau Rihla seemed cloying and sweet when I tried it in the shop, but I took a sample home anyway. Now it's early summer and this fragrance is just lovely. Right away, there's a hit of raspberry sweetness, but it dissipates quickly and leaves you with and a soft, woody, leathery and warmly resinous drydown. It's got a similar feel to the 34 line, so a full bottle might be overkill for some.

EloiseAddinall

I love this perfume. What attract me first was the name and its meaning. Eau Rihla (meaning journey). So I was excited to discover it. First of all it came in the most insane lush leather looking box..just unpacking it felt special..I was already on a high..then the artwork on the bottle, bringing you the imagery of the smell..in a warm mysterious desert scenery. On the first spritz, it’s a fresh opening with a hint of raspberry but soon become mysterious with the leather but not dirty leather, clean but still powdery where you just want more..Anyway I never go over 3 sprays and it lasted me all day with every time someone came near me, they would comment on how nice my perfume was. It is my favourite Diptyque at the moment and I could feel it becoming a signature smell. Not sure how it will behave with warm temperatures..as I prefer fresher smell when it’s hot, to cool my spirit down..But maybe when the sun goes down in summer, it will still be perfect.

Rjdee

This is absolutely stunning. If you are looking for a raspberry leather fragrance, go with this over TL or anything else. This is so smooth, so delicate, it is remarkable. Projection and longevity are also very solid. This makes TL look rough and unbalanced. I think this is Diptyque’s best fragrance so far.

based-in-la

At first it’s so overwhelming, but every single time I smell this I exponentially like it more. I’m really loving it now, and probably will buy a bottle very soon. Might overwhelm some people around you but, I think most will actually love it. It’s really beautiful, and has become a top 10 for me. Yes, it’s similar to the Tom ford leathers, but to me this sits so much better on skin, and the blend is smoother. The leather somehow isn’t intruding on those around you, it’s soothing and sexy. And the DRYDOWN is maybe my favorite I’ve smelled so far?
I really wasn’t a fan of leather fragrances until this one.

Tincel

This is a beautifully blended leather fragrance. I usually find leather scents to play too much on either the contrast with fresher ingredients or with very masculine spices, but this one is neither - it is complex and refined. The raspberry comes in later, which is a pleasant transition. Definitely a scent worth checking out if you are looking for a leather fragrance. I agree with another user who said this does not have Diptyque DNA, luckily for me as I don't fit much with Diptyque products.

shiningyuzu

This is such an interesting fragrance. The strongest notes to me are leather + saffron combo mixed with vanilla and cedar, while the raspberry is so slight and hidden under everything else, so it comes out last. I don't enjoy leather scents, but I can tell this is a lighter leather, and the vanilla and raspberry make it feel warmer and less polarizing than I find other leather fragrances tend to feel. Diptyque really does things differently! Overall, this isn't for me, but I'd recommend this for those looking for an easygoing and warm leather fragrance! :)

Update: The more I smell it, the more I like it.

Scent: 6/10

Longevity: 7/10

Sillage: 7/10

Price: 6/10

Not sure if I can say this is school or work-friendly? Perhaps if you spray lightly?

Would recommend a blind buy if you know you like leather!

februarysfavourite

Very soft and approachable unlike other leather fragrances.

This uses a cedar note to take place of the leather, as Diptyque does not use synthetic oils. The leather is quite woody, however the powdery iris shadows that and makes it smell less piny. The raspberry does not have a plastic or jam tinge, rather it is more of an essence. Think of water with raspberries in it left overnight, that is how the raspberry presents itself in this fragrance. I definitely prefer it over Tuscan Leather, which can be quite offensive and nauseating if worn improperly.

TunyaPe

Raspberry note is airy, sweet but not jammy. Leans more feminine than Tuscan Leather.
I did not want to believe at first that it is Diptyque's as it does not carry the typical Diptyque's DNA.
Longevity is moderate.
The name and packaging are gorgeous.

ingeneuxo

-Woody iris scent.
-Linear to me.
-Rather nondescript overall.
-Reminiscent of Ruby Woo by MAC. (except this is softer) (-)

Cragrat

So this is an interesting perfume. At first glance I thought I was smelling Louis Vuitton's 'Nouveau Monde' or a softer version of 'Ombre Nomade'. I went home and compared my sample with the Louis Vuitton perfumes and I find that the same oud-vanilla-saffron accord is there too. What I find particularly interesting is that almost 24 hours later, the woody notes are settled, mellowed even, and the floral fruity notes of iris and raspberry are still there and tones down the perfume making it a very delicious fragrance with hints of leather - I can see where the other reviewers relate this to Tuscan Leather but this is not the same smell. I am definitely going to revisit this perfume because I think it has great potential. This is a long lasting perfume.

blackribbons

I disagree with it being a Tuscan Leather rip off . I have both scents and they are similar in the basic sense but Rhila is round, soft beautiful dry down, sweeter. Better balanced than Tuscan. The saffron is less high pitched in Rhila the raspberry much more present, alleviating the leather note where it needs it . cloud-like . If you can get a bottle I would recommend over Tuscan Leather.

Houdini4

The vibe of Tuscan leather, manifesting in a slightly different way.
Do we need it?
Well, I find the top notes of this, more plastic and screeching with a oud/Rose tint to them but generally it’s the sweet fruity ‘raspberry’ and saffraliene of the well known ‘leather’ fragrances in this category. However this is a bit more like the Les Eau primordials one I tried recently which is more of a twangy saffron that the cedar and sandalwood which I find really present in ‘Tuscan Leather’ (or closer copies/‘inspirations’ etc…) this also has a resin/incense note which throws the TL theme a little.
There’s room within this sub genre of its own for various takes on the theme, and when it’s dried all the way down and some of the harshness gone, I get actual real smelling leather notes coming from a very faded, hours old scent on my skin.
I don’t hate it. I’m just not interested. Never really known Diptyque to follow trends or create played out stuff but it appears they do.
I’m not giving this fragrance more credit than it deserves or adding that extraneous detail to sound like I know what I’m talking about. I do get this added depth/differences to a straight TL clone, from this perfume. I don’t think it’s a completely lifeless copy, but it’s close enough to be redundant for most, and that’s kinda true for me too, but perhaps for a slightly different reason.

gregmech26

Raspberry cream with suede. My mother said it smells like bug spray.

Datanime

I have it and I love it but all my friends think that I am wearing Tuscan leather.
Yes there is some similarity but the big difference is that this one is way cheaper than Tuscan Leather.

M7md761

I got sample from sale associate
I’ll make it simple.. take tuscan leather + black saffron and you will get this
