Soft and soapy, extremely elegant, old money type of scent. Subtle and clean. Very safe, very inoffensive. I imagine a doctor wearing this. Sillage and longevity are unfortunately lacking on my skin, it’s gone without a trace after 3 hours. I like it, but it’s too expensive for what it is. I wouldn’t even buy it at 1/3rd the price. I have Agent Provocateur’s Maitresse which has a similar ‘soft-aldehydic and smooth musky-clean’ feel (but without the citruses), maybe it’s less elegant, but it has more character, feels more cozy, performs better, and is a small fraction of the price.

CoverMyFarts

Rich grandma laundry. Fuckin slaps. Longevity goes as quick as said grandma's memory, though.

dmitryrey

This is nice

I never liked Chanel no. 5 Eau de Parfum. Too old-fashioned, to the point I get nauseous.

So when I received a sample of no. 5 l'Eau, I hesitated to give her a try for a while. I had it waiting for months until I got curious enough to wear her.

Chanel l'Eau is entirely different! The is suitable for my generation, young, totally not like the "old lady in a fur coat" scent that the EDP is.

This one is really yummy. Delicious overall, a beautiful gourmand, soft, comfortable, but with good sillage. I love Musc Ravageur, Shalimar and Labdanum 18. This one could compete with my favorite scents.

Wanted to do an update on the fifth bottle since it’s created…even the kids who say “Chanel is old” (sorry Fragrances don’t age. They’re classic or new.) this is Chanel’s version of clean girl. Citrus and vanilla. And I will say, for an EDT? It lasts a good amount of time on me and projects! And men? They like it it’s the kinda scent snuggling they’ll stick their nose in your neck! Classic refreshing great for spring summer

Ayshin

Citrusy scent that last only 1 hour on me
Poor SPL
Why did i buy this for $200 again? Well well well....

fragheadny

My go-to airport scent. I'd call it the inoffensive version of No.5 but that would be a disservice to it's beauty. It manages to be so bright and clean while keeping the shining warmth from the original. I love Scissorslizardspock's description, "it's angel laundry". It smells like the most heavenly clean warm linens. Makes me feel so fresh and put together when wearing.
I do not experience the poor longevity that other reviewers claim to. This solidly lasts all day on my clothes.

Vintagehearts91

I bought a second bottle (this time from an authentic source) and really liked it. Reminds me a bit of soda (sprite) vanilla, and florals. Clean, floral and sweet is how I would describe it…

stella197

I'm surprised how many citrus notes are listed here. It's so soft. I love this. Even the aldehydes are soft. Esprit d’Oscar is the same scent profile as this. It doesn't last for long, even on my clothes.

dinkleheit

I wanted to try this because my grandma used to wear Chanel No. 5 and even just for nostalgic purposes it seemed worth having a small sample of this. It's quite lovely and very much like the original, I would have to test them side-by-side to have a true comparison. However, this is beautiful and classy just like I remember Chanel No. 5. I wouldn't say this is my favorite of the Chanel fragrances I own, but it's surely beautiful and has a good projection. This is a good fancy dinner/event perfume.

frag_nostalgia

I love this smell. But as opposed to wearing it on my skin I spritz it on my freshly laundered warm linens, white tshirts, and jammies. I use only unscented laundry detergents and dryer sheets because I have extremely sensitive skin. Therefore I chose Chanel No°5 L'eau as my signature laundry scent. My whites & linens always smell so fresh & bougie 😌! A little goes a looong way, and the scent lasts for days. L'eau is seriously thee *perfect* laundry scent for the self-made woman (or man).

LEM922

Okay, wow. I love this. Classic, soapy fresh No 5 made age appropriate for the younger crowd… this isn’t your grandma’s No 5, although they smell a LOT alike, this one is far less stuffy. Lofty aldehydes with a touch of citrus, a little ylang ylang and a prominent musky base, this really is such a stunner.

Very clean, very inoffensive, charming in an old school to new school kind of fashion.

Scissorslizardspock

The effect on clothing is stunning…. I liked it already on skin, spraying normally from the sprayer. But if I spray this up close on my wrist - then let it settle and dry - oh my goodness, it’s angel laundry. My clothing smells so good. Something about spraying it up close, and I get all that glorious jasmine and rose. Love it!

09pinkrose02

the opening is very citrusy but the dry down is sooooo elegant. at the end of the day it makes my clothes smell like fresh musky vanilla and its to die for!!

KerriZ

A sophisticated timeless beauty. Light and elegant for summer, this fragrance is a burst of gorgeous citrus and rose lying together on a bed of orris and musk. Lingered on my skin for 4+ hours. If I am to buy one Chanel for my collection it will be this!

tosel3

Super aldehydic in the opening, BUT on the dry down we have a beautiful sweet floral — quite addicting.

udzyna

That is as delightful as it is short lasting

Suzanne loves Perfume

Absolutely beautiful.
I bought this recently for an outstandingly low price won in an eBay auction someones unwanted Christmas present.
I was so surprised after reading the reviews of it being so Citrus and sparkling and also quite weak that l couldn't really smell the Citrus top notes. It went straight to its floral notes and powder on me as soon as it touched my skin and the strength of 1 spray on my hand was outstanding it was stronger than 6 sprays of no 5 EDP.
As l sat at my computer typing at work, l could smell this clean powdery floral waft it was delicious sometimes floral powdery notes can get a bit sickly but this is so clean and soapy powdery its divine.
This is my second favourite of the numbered Chanel Fragrances. Chanel no 19 getting the top spot, and Chanel no 5 coming in 3rd. l like the clear colourless fluid its very chic and minimalist looking, but l also dislike the clear fluid too because when the bottle is full it looks like an empty bottle of perfume standing on your dresser. You feel compelled to waste a load by spraying liberally just so you can see the liquid line. I love this perfume its gorgeous. I give this a 7.5/10

JayBeez

Got a sample when I purchase another Chanel fragrance for my wife. Everything I love about #5 and lacking what I don’t love about #5. Going to get a bottle of this for myself ASAP.

Heathermarie8617

I adore every No 5 version I have come across but for some reason when I first tried L'eau, I wasn't really a fan. It's not that I didnt like the scent profile, but the longivity was not there as some others have stated. Something has changed, though...it really does seem like the newer formula lasts longer (if it has actually changed or not, I do not know...) But this is really nice. And while I personally enjoy the original EDT, this does seem to be a more "approachable" version that I could easily see someone wearing as a signature scent/school scent/ work scent/etc etc. I want to add that while I have tried other brands of fragrances, including niche, there really is something special about Chanel fragrances that I have yet to find anywhere else. They really do have that certain "sparkle".

PLK

Ylang ylang flat scent in the drydown, too bad because the opening is mindbowing

Smokeandhoney

I got a sample of this with another full bottle I received as a gift. The opening is so tart and bright, a sparkling, fizzy effervescence that reminds me of the initial spray of DKNY WOMEN in the tall, elongated, rhombus shaped frosted glass bottle. I enjoyed this part of the fragrance a lot although I’m not often swooned by citrus elements in fragrance, I prefer them to be a supporting role to other materials and notes. However, my mother loves tart citruses with musk and also wore DKNY WOMEN for years as her signature scent when I was a teenager so it is a scent profile that reminds me of her and unlocks a core memory for me. After that initial blast of supersonic citrus and aldehydes, N°5 L’Eau kind of becomes detergent like and is reminiscent of lemon antibacterial sprays which personally I wasn’t fond of. It wasn’t astringent and didn’t feel as if it was burning my nostrils from the inside out but it felt more like the residual essence of what a citrus anti-bac would leave behind. This lasted around 10 minutes before I felt the creamy, thick ylangylang come through, along with a warm jasmine and pretty, pink rose—the yellow floral more dominant and the others more subdued and wispy. This is where L’Eau starts to feel again more like a predecessor of the original after the signature aldehydes in the opening. This stage introduces my favourite part, sometime after the florals become more pronounced, the base comes in so smooth, musky and powdery with a slight robust and woody edge with cedar. The orris and cedar combination is gorgeous. The vanilla creates a sweet warmth. The base of L’Eau is bloody wonderful, actually. With hints of citrus still remaining it feels like a lemon vanilla mousse dusted with powdered sugar and a smooth cedar and fluffy musk. I really enjoyed this except for that tricky cleaning detergent part of N°5 L’Eau’s evolution. I didn’t think I’d like it so much. It is a scent my Mom would adore, she loves the original N°5 on others, including me; but loathes it on herself and is yet to find a variation of N°5 she likes and I think this is it! I went to place the sample back inside the card for her… it slipped through and the vial shattered all over the tiled floors. I tried to blot some off the floor :((((

A really nice, fluffy, intimate sillage and really long lasting. I’d say about 8h before it becomes a close, sweet and musky skin scent.

A_Ferrera

Smells like those citrus scented cleaning powers, like the one that Faye Dunaway was thrashing about in Christina’s bathroom.

Then changes into 1932, so if you’re on a budget and can’t get 1932 then just get this. Only difference is the openings!

On clothing it smells like apples? It’s very safe for day to day.

My favourite part was the opening where I could smell those signature aldehydes of N°5, then it all quickly faded away…akin to the temper of mommy dearest.

Tincel

Smells like tangerine bubble gum, not so pleasant.

Eden1

I had this a few years ago but gave it away since the longevity was close to none. Tried it on today in store and they must have changed the Formula because now it actually stays on my skin. It still is very intimate but it performs 12 hours after application. Will definitely buy a new bottle since this version or no 5 is my favorite! Mush brighter and fresher than Eau Premiere

verahoving99

I love wearing this to bed in summer. Its super fresh and bright but it does have the warmth from the original No. 5.

Avocadochange

Cannot stand original No5 EDP. I am one of the unfortunate few who get “cat pee” from the standard scent. I tried L’eau at the store and shockingly loved it. It has a bright citrus opening that is sparkly and effervescent. The champagne feel of the opening is brilliant and is reminiscent of the original intent of No5 and feels to me exactly as I wished original No5 would smell like.

The heart notes are lightly floral but smell mostly clean and lightly maintain that sparkly citrus. Dries down into a gorgeous powdery musk that is extremely Chanel but more muted and understated. I get 6-8 hours of wear, but the effervescent citrus does only last ~3 hours. The powdery musk lasts the rest of the day. I love that it wears into a more mature muted fragrance as the day goes as I love each stage of this scent. Can understand the complaints about longevity if you are mildly anosmic to the powdery musk as the bright citrus phase is short wearing. Would highly recommend to those who love citrus clean fragrances.

bel.gravia

This is my December, running up to Christmas perfume 🥰 it is so fresh, light, sparkly and festive. In the hassle and bustle of all the crowds running in shops and everywhere being overcrowded I love No 5 L eau for its fresh simplicity. A breath of icy air.

emerson10

like no. 5 like baby's first chanel. Your [insert matriarch here] wore Chanel and it's not your vibe, but you want to come as close as you can tolerate.

This is a softer more eau fraiche no. 5 with some marseille soap undertones.

emilia123

This smells so much like that lemonade powder they'd mix into water for the kids to drink during summer camp... not aldehydic at all. It's pleasant and nothing like the original No 5, but I'm not sure if I would purchase this for myself. I think this would be a sweet gift for a teen/young adult who likes the Chanel name but also doesn't like the "mature" scent of some of their more classic frags.

Msala140

I hate the opening , reminiscent of cleaning products . Once it settles on my skin I get a light and airy powdery scent of some soft citruses with musk and aldehydes. Silage is close to skin and lasted only 3 hours . The price point is ridiculous for how weak this scent is.

Edit: opening grew on me, absolutely love the sparkling quality. I get like a lemon bubbly drink when you just get opening it and smell the fizzyness

jess.sophie.cluse

I remember being 13 and seeing the Gisel Bundchen ad for the original chanel n5 edp. I was obsessed immediately, and became set on smelling it. It was when I went on a day trip to a coastal town with my family on boxing day, that I finally managed to get to a sephora. I very shyly sprayed it on my wrist and immediately thought ‘oh noooo’ because it was definitely a departure from what I was used to (my perfume at the time being Rose by Zara). Although I knew I couldn’t live out my dream of having the most iconic perfume in the world as my signature scent, I did keep sniffing my wrist and enjoyed the smell while it lasted.
Cut to, 3 years later, I’m out shopping with my friend I spot the marketing for the Chanel n5 l’eau launch. I got pretty excited, and scuttled over to give it a sniff. I was totally transported back to that day in Biarritz by the n5 dna. It was the first time a perfume had really had that effect on me. It smelled so familiar. And this one, I knew I could pull off. I used samples of it from sephora for a while and then eventually stopped after Glossier You came out and instantly became the only perfume I wore for the next 5 years.
Cut to, this year. I stumbled across a cheap bottle of it online and bought it. I still think this is masterful.
I’ll admit that for the price, it could stick around longer than it does. I do think it’s the style of scent that you can go nose blind to though, because people around me have mentioned it a few times when I’ve not been able to detect it at all. The comparisons to mall soap and body spray are fair enough if you’re used to stronger more perfume-y scents. I strongly disagree though.
There’s no real way of understanding this perfume. It’s really its own thing, you can read the notes but personally i can’t really smell them individually. It’s definitely got the chanel n5 in it but it’s soooo so clean and wearable. It doesn’t smell old fashioned. I’ve seen alot of people find it a shame to take the EDP and turn it into something palatable for the younger generations. I don’t know, call me a heathen but I think that stance is a bit puritanical. The associations people have with the original is bagage I don’t want my perfume to carry, despite appreciating it for what it is. I still love the dna though and am stoked to be able to wear it. There is absolutely a market for this fragrance.
It smells modern to me, in a niche way. It’s sort of a skin scent in that it really melds with your chemistry to creating something slightly musky, powdery but with the aldehydes and citrus cutting through and brightening it up. I don’t get very strong florals from it on myself.
I will say, layering this with Glossier You amplifies both fragrances beautifully and I get alottt of compliments when I wear them together.

rene.saller

As much as I love Olivier Polge (his original Misia EDT is in my top five for sure), I find this "fresher, younger" version of Chanel No. 5 to be no great shakes. I get that the original doesn't sell very well to the coveted Millennial and Gen Z demographics, but it seems better just to come up with a new perfume and leave the name Chanel No. 5 out of it altogether. Granted, I am just testing this from an advertisement in a magazine (dead tree edition), so I'm not getting as intense an experience as I would be getting from a sprayer, but this seems pretty weak to me. I would just as soon wear the original Chanel No. 5 (which I don't own but like), and simply apply more cautiously, than spray the Eau iteration with abandon. That's just me, though--when I spend a lot of money, I expect better performance; younger noses no doubt disagree.

I received a sample vial with a Chanel order I made recently, and I must say this is growing on me. It's very pretty, very Chanel--I just like the original iteration more. Probably because I'm one of those old biddies the marketers would like to deter, lolsob.

PoorSueco

I tried this a couple days ago, to my nose this smells exactly like a fancy toilet cleaner. It's citrousy and soapy, for the price this is nowhere worth it imo

nruthh

This is a charming fragrance. I tend to struggle with most versions of No 5 — they turn foul in the dry down, or the aldehydes in the opening never cool off — but I love other powdery fragrances like Prada Infusion d’Iris, so I really wanted to try this one. I’m glad I did! This is like a delicate layer of powder over the skin. It feels freshly cleaned, soapy, lovely. The dry-down is addictive to me, I can’t stop smelling my wrist — it’s such a good “white dove soap” scent in the dry down!!

The citrus in the opening is a little hard for me to get through, but the dry down is worth the wait. It has decent sillage, but I will say, I think the No 5 DNA is a challenge for many people. I think keeping this perfume to 1-2 sprays is prudent if you don’t want to offend anyone around you, but that’s just my two cents.

I have a full bottle of this and love it for cozy days at home, as a bedtime scent, or just as my comfort perfume when I want to feel soft and clean. It’s really lovely and worth a shot if you want a soapy, powdery scent but find other No 5s intimidating or unlikable for any reason.

Ireneeee

immediately a light, powdery and younger version of the original, it's citrusy and much more wearable than the original. it's also super gender neutral and just smells clean overall. I like the fragrance but at such price point I expect much more longevity and projection, I sprayed it on paper and after 4 hours I could barely smell the fragrance.

babypong

very very very light perfume overall, watery and powdery notes come out. Feels pretty gender neutral. I'm not interested in this scent.

subtlyyours

Slightly gives hand soap in the bathrooms of shopping malls but i don’t hate it

rose4franc

I'd like to know the psychology behind why the most marketed, best selling designer fragrances are consistently dedicated to smelling like house cleaner?! Really, I always wondered why the alcohol is exceptionally strong with Chanel? L' Eau or Lysol EDT? I wouldn't know. Yes it's zesty citrus, but you're paying $80+ because it's Chanel?? Marketing works on unoriginal customers.

celyn_jo

This is a delicious and clean citrus scent of a perfume. On my skin, it last for about 3-4 hours and lasts longer on clothes. The sillage is pretty weak especially after an hour applying it.
It's very inoffensive and can be used in every season.

madsoem

Love the citrus in this that makes it wearable compared to the original that I find way to heavy.

Julieinzh

Used to hate chanel no.5, but love this. It is beautiful, but sadly so fragile. Gone away too fast. I purchased eau premiere instead and i am happy with it. I hope they make EDP version of this.

Skinscents4Fusspots

Classic no.5 style opening that dries down into a citrusy, classic floral and clean, soapy musk. I fell in love with this and was trying to think what it reminded me of. Jovan musk popped into my head and then bang! I realised it was actually musk oil no 6! It has the same no.5 aldehydic opening with some acidic citrus fruits and then a warm soapy musk with a slightly banana-like Ylang.

j.andresminor

Mmm very unisex i like it a lot it is sparkling and has hints of a memory of a nice beach, it has the dna of Chanel no 5, that yellow flower you know, i wont buy it because my mom loves the original Chanel that she has and will steal it lol!

MCW7

I loooove this ! It is so light and beautiful and just smells so gorgeous. I wish they would make an EDP out of this one. I need it to last longer' just beautiful.!!

CurlGurl

I get compliments on this one often. Men usually. It actually lasts Very long with pretty decent sillage. I've had people compliment me hours after applying. Reviewers that hate on this fragrance are typical Ariana Grande type wearers and aren't quite sophisticated enough yet to understand this one (or any from Chanel). I agree it smells like limoncello with a hint of the OG N5. Truly sophisticated and beautiful fragrance.

Elindio

it's the feminine version of Paco Rabanne for men the green
this is just for mature audiences

Lindinhafragrancia

I used to hate Chanel n05 about 10 years ago. It smelled like chlorine. I am almost 40 and went to Macy's to try Gabrielle Essence. I saw a bottle of Chanel n05 and tried again to confirm how much I hated that. I basically smelled baby Johnson and Johnson's shampoo, the yellow kind. I really liked. A couple of days later I went back and got a sample. I was hooked. After testing on my skin, I felt like I have never felt about a fragrance before. I felt special. I loved how much it changed on my skin. From the bubbly aldehydes to the soft floral powder. It smells expensive. Not like baby powder. I wear it every night after shower and I feel like I came out of the most luxurious bath and I am drinking Champagne on the porch watching the sunset. Now back at Chanel n05 L'eu. I heard it's a fresher version of Chanel n05. Well, in the opening is citrus for only a little bit. You can almost feel like it's going to be a fresher version for summer. I was wrong. The citrus notes goes away really quick, I can't really smell much of the bubbly aldehydes and you are left with plain baby powder. Not expensive smelling. The cheap kind with a very faint DNA of Chanel n05. It does not last long. It's ok I guess. I don't hate it but I feel ordinary, and I don't thing its good for summer either. I much prefer Chanel n05 eau de toilette for summer.

alice_w

I think it strays too much from the original No. 5, and it is too citrusy for me.

sovietine

This is so so beautiful, but i can not justify the price for the longevity and sillage it has. This is A CRIME from Chanel. I got a bottle cheaper, for around 65 euros, but still… it’s too weak! I am so saddened…

AdalynEverly

First Impressions (in store spray):
I’m not a fan of Chanel no 5. Maybe because I’m still young, but I’ve always tried to like Chanel no 5 to no avail. My mother gave me for Christmas the shower gel of Chanel no 5, and I actually loved the way that it left a little bit of Chanel on my skin. When I heard this one is a modern version of Chanel no 5, and it’s lighter. I just had to go out & smell it. When I first sprayed it, it’s extremely aldehydic & still has 90% of that Chanel no 5 DNA. The dry dry down is a lot better than the original, but that’s not saying much. Neroli & me don’t get a along so that also bugged me about the perfume as well. So my suggestion would be this:
If you are looking for something that is Chanel no 5, but summertime you might like this.
If you and the note of neroli go good together then maybe this would be your cup of tea.
If you aren’t into any of those things you probably will not like this at all

Summary:
Smells like: Chanel no 5 (light summer/spring version)
Family of: Chanel no 5 (light summer/spring version)
Silage: moderate to light

Verdict:
Pass- spring time version of Chanel number 5. A little better dry down, but not much.

EstanciaMercedes

Chanel #5 reawakened, to affirm that today, reeking from a mile away isn't so desirable as it once may have been. This interpretation says, it's quite OK to come close.

Can't comment on longevity, but the opening and mid notes are exquisitely rendered floral joy.

matchaincense

Reminds me of limoncello lacroix lol, or spa steam like another reviewer said

h149

On a mission to ”get” aldehydes…this is much easier to digest than the original No. 5, so I think they accomplished what they set out to accomplish. The aldehydes recede a bit and what I find floral and powdery and pleasant about No. 5 comes to the fore. I’m starting to see how they can give a flower you know and love a different quality.

While a lot of perfumes wilt upon exposure to the humid city air where I live, this interacts with it surprisingly well. Actually it’s much better on the go than it is indoors with the air conditioner on. Like I’m walking in a bubble of spa steam. Flowers packaged in plastic like produce at the grocery store. I don’t have the right personality for Chanel, so it’s not a purchase I’d ever make, but I think I’m getting somewhere with the aldehydes now.

Tincel

I find the tangerine a bit medicinal :( shame.

KatherineC

Chanel No. 5 L'Eau is like a soft pastel version of the iconic No. 5. There's more emphasis on citrus rather than aldehydes at the opening. Soon a quiet bouquet of ylang, jasmine and rose join the sweetly musky orris butter. I wear the OG, queen of aldehydes, in the winter, the more vanillic Eau Premiere in spring and fall, and will wear L'Eau this summer. Olivier Polge must have been fearful when tasked with creating this flanker. He did a wonderful job. Just as Eau Premiere is a perfectly crafted deconstruction of No. 5, L'eau is also a clever deconstruction of Eau Premiere. My favorite of the three is Eau Premiere, a compromise between old school and modern. And L'eau is constructed as a thoroughly modern fragrance, a perfume designed to wear anytime, anywhere and offend no one. Even though it's a whisper of Chanel No. 5, there's a radiance and liveliness to L'Eau that's all its own.

I love this version of No. 5. The citrus is so refreshing and light. The dry down is very nice. I just wish the sillage and staying power was stronger. I don’t know that I will repurchase. Maybe if they offer an EdP or figure out a way to increase the staying power. I really hope they can do that because this perfume makes me feel beautiful and my husband loves it too. I can’t stop smelling my wrists.

ETA: After several days of wearing this, I want to BATHE in this scent. I absolutely will repurchase and go for the 6.8 ounce big bottle. I hope they never stop making this truly beautiful scent. I have a new appreciation for EdT.

ETA Again: i have been wearing this a lot. I was mistaken about longevity. I am finding that to be great. I can still smell this on my skin the next day. It is the sillage which is limited and that isn’t such a bad thing. I prefer a more intimate projection.

Is there such a thing as a No.5 for Millennials? I'm unconvinced. Yet, I think some Millennials (or Gen Z, whatever) appreciate aldehydlic fragrances, super blended florals, oldschool musk and the No.5 DNA. I'm not necessarily a No.5 lover by any stretch, but I do find it compelling, interesting, historic and fun to wear occasionally.

The opening for this is so great, and it's truly a ride! My immediate thought was 'It smells like 7-Up!!', the effervescent, sparkling quality of the ahldehydes popping up off the skin along with fresh lemon is fabulous! ✨️

It settles into that iconic, legendary plushy orris with the particular blend of florals that can only be described as "No.5"; it is what it is...although this is scaled back considerably and less weighty. It isn't as thickly soapy and dense, and somehow the tone feels more spring-like and much less autumnal, which is what No.5 always reminds me of...early November. Leau is April, to me.

The drydown settles into a soft, floofy makeup-y orris with the floral blend still (most notably ylang ylang). I don't smell any cedar or vanilla.

This is undeniably elegant, and still screams "CHANELLLL!!!!", I think it's completely on brand. Chanel doesn't suit me very well personally, although I do thoroughly enjoy wearing some of their offerings. I'll keep trying, Lord knows, but I don't force it and I simply roll with samples as I recieve them. This is no exception, but it's very well done...and actually, admittedly, better than I anticipated it to be. I thought maybe it would be "ok", but it's a solid "like". It's quite, quite pretty and sings in mild weather.

When I bought some makeup setting spray at Chanel after getting my makeover done, my SA gave me a sample of this to try on when I got home. When I first sprayed this on, I found it suffocating like the original Chanel N°5 and felt it was very powdery, musty and strong on the aldehydes. Also it's slightly mature and vintage smelling to my nose.

As it develops it does tone down, but I still get a very powdery and expensive soap smell, eventhough it starts to sit closer to the skin. I get a hint of rose to my nose and also some lemon, but I'm not really getting any jasmine here. I do smell a tiny bit of ylang ylang though as well and at the base I get some of the vanilla.

I feel that this perfume is expertly crafted and it blends to a point where you almost can't differentiate the different smells as is true with most Chanel perfumes, but I feel this perfume is super bland and kind of artifical smelling.

It lasted about 5 hours on my skin and it had medium projection.

I don't hate this perfume, but I personally wouldn't buy it or wear it.

This perfume chose me to be my signature scent.
I was all for the Premiere version but this one works so well with my skin, and reminds me so much of the first Premiere version (my favourite) that it just happened that there was no choice.
I am beginning to see that perfumes are like wands; the wand chooses the wizard. Some perfumes you may adore but be unable to wear (me with Coco Mlle), others you choose to buy for another reason (I had to have all No5 variations as I adore it so much) and they turn out to be the one.
Thank goodness I get no citrus whatsoever of this on my skin, it’s just aldehydes (my favourite!) and creamy vanilla with jasmine and ylang. Nothing could suit me better. I find citrus abhorrent. No hint of it!
Also, the premise: it had to have a No5 signature. And there’s no lack of it either. A softer, lighter and slightly pop version of No5. I won’t say no to that, as long as Chanel continues to offer the traditional version too I see no harm in playing with it.
I’m looking forward to acquiring the All Over version, just to see what it’s about.
Bathe me in No5, Chanel for I am unapologetically indulgent.

Mademoiselle Rêve

Very soapy, the signature Chanel's 'classy and put together' character is there, as well as the original No. 5 DNA. Easy to wear all year round. Versatile - a day scent that can be worn in the evening, too, like a well-tailored pair of black cigarette pants.

One disadvantage - weak longevity, lasts an hour or so. Would need to be re-applied. This seems to be the problem with some of the beautiful, clean and fresh Chanel fragrances (same with my Chance Eau Tendre EDP) - obviously something to consider at this price point.

NPC_73293721

A man’s perspective:
I’m 29 and this scent is very sexy to me.
I would definitely be more attracted to any woman who smells like this.
If you’re considering it, get it.
That’s all.

HannahRosesAreRed

I'm not the biggest fan of Chanel No 5. Yes, it's a classic fragrance, but I couldn't get past its overt artifciality. The L'Eau Eau du Toilette version, however, is an improvement, at least as far as scents go. It leans heavier into the citrus notes, from the opening beyond. Lemon and orange are the most prominent, giving this scent a fresh and luxurious vibe. It does feel lighter, softer and more approachable than No 5, and a lot more versatile. This would be lovely to spritz just out of the shower or before bed if you want to feel extra luxe.

However, Chanel No 5 L'Eau has one major, potentially game-breaking weakness–its performance. This is a super subtle fragrance. Yes, it's an EDT, so of course, compared to the EDP, it's going to be a lot less powerful. But L'Eau is far too subtle for its own good. The sillage is too intimate and its longevity too mild for it to be enjoyed at its fullest. I imagine you would have to spray this a lot at one time, on both skin and clothes, to make it last, let alone be noticed. That's a shame, since it's such a lovely citrus aldehyde.

I think it's worth checking out or testing. But remember that to expect the performance of an EDT despite its EDP scent. I wish they would make a EDP version of L'Eau–would consider buying it otherwise.

alexoxoxo

This is a very easy reach for me in the Spring and Summer. This is like your favorite pair of jeans and a clean white linen shirt. Easy, comfortable, inoffensive, airy. Perfect for the office, a day around town, whenever you need a mood booster.

ReeReeLove

Received a sample of this from Sephora and I must admit I was apprehensive about due to the extreme opposition of Chanel No 5 Eau De Parfum. This was definitely softer and gave a more youthful vibe than it's matronly original counterpart. It's very fresh, and I get a lot of the citrus notes shining thru. I was very pleasantly surprised. Can't speak for it's performance because I prayed it on paper but I can say that I enjoyed this much more than the original Chanel No 5.

alternateu

I smelled this on the store on a tester strip and LOVED it - it was like a creamy, comforting, more powdery version of Chanel No. 5. Nearly blind bought it based on that alone; and thankfully, I did not.
Bought a decant to test on my skin - unfortunately, nothing quite so nice.
It opened with a large blast of citrus, bright, aldehydes. I still get a hint of that civet (no clue why, it's not even supposed to be in the notes), and a slap of indolic florals. A very bright, watery version of Chanel No. 5. If the OG No. 5 is too "heady" and strong, this might be a good option, but the performance was really poor. About three hours on my skin, with low to moderate projection.

----

EDIT:
Strange!
The more I smell this, the more addicted I get to it.
Cue me with a 100 ml bottle of this, and the Eau Premiere.

After wearing it on a slightly hotter, warmer day, the citrus is less piercing, and the waxiness of the aldehydes becomes more prominent. Yes, my former issues with the projection and longevity still persist, but... there's something addictive about this. Again, I get that "luxury finely milled floral soap in a wax paper" vibe that I got from the No. 5 EDP, but it's brighter, lighter, and more cheerful.

I don't think it's necessarily a "younger" version of the EDP. It's a more "approachable", more "open" scent. The EDP is ever so slightly denser and more "woman in her 30s, austere, hair in a tight bun". The L'eau could still be worn by a woman in her 30s, but maybe she's a little more cozy, still quiet, reserved, but not as severe.

Compared with the other No. 5 range:
No. 5 EDP: 7/10. Pleasant and strangely addictive, but still a little heavy and too waxy for my taste.
No. 5 Eau Premiere: 9.5/10. Creamy version of the EDP, very strong resemblance with an obvious Chanel DNA (heavy aldehydes). I sprayed it on before going to bed and woke with the most GORGEOUS slightly soapy, creamy, skin scent of florals the next day. Would be perfect if the longevity and projection were better, but what can I say. Still my favourite.
No. 5 L'eau: 9/10. Very similar to Eau Premiere. But instead of the creaminess, I get more citrus in the opening. A slightly fresher (not masculine by any means), "brighter" iteration. Better for hot days. But still gorrrrgeous.
I've heard comments about the L'eau being the weakest, but to be honest, they're all pretty weak to me.

Noelly88

I’m in love! This is soft, delicate, fresh and sweet. It’s not a loud fragrance, it has more of an intimacy surrounding it.
It’s very powdery and citrusy to my nose. The citrusy is very sweet and realistic smelling.
So, the longevity… it’s not great, but it’s not the worst? Here I am, sitting 12 hours later, and I can still smell traces of it on my skin, and especially on my clothes. I honestly don’t care that it doesn’t scream across a room. It’s not a going out on the town fragrance, It’s a perfect everyday scent that makes me feel lovely and put together while I’m relaxing at home, working or running errands. I’m going to have to stop myself from wearing it every day - I’ll have to force myself to pay attention to the others in my collection!
I have Coco Mademoiselle, Chance Eau Tendre EDP and Chance EDT. Not saying this is anything similar, but out of all the Chanel’s I own this is my favorite.

vanillabeandrop

Oooh I like this a lot... and I wish I didn't like it so much because it's Chanel which means it's EXPENSIVE. Maybe it's also the fact that it's Chanel that is appealing to me so much. I sprayed it in store and it was a much more wearable version of the original No5. It's lighter, fresher, and more subtle, while still retaining that expensive, classy, chic perfume vibe. I got a decant of it to test it out on my skin, and it smells lovely. Like you just came out of the shower after using your expensive spa-grade body wash and lotion. It reminds me of expensive hotels, old money, mysterious chic woman, early 90s.

Of all my perfumes, this perfume evokes the most vivid story in my head. Some perfumes evoke images of their notes -- this smells like strawberries, or this smells like vanilla, or this smells like jasmine. Chanel No.5 L'Eau smells like Chanel. It doesn't smell like anything else that exists.

As for longevity, it lasts about 3-4 hours on my skin, which is alright given that it's a citrus-based perfume. I'll definitely reapply in the evening if I'm going out. But once it's on my skin, I catch whiffs of it as I move around. Not sure about sillage, but I don't think it projects very far. I imagine it would work great for an office setting, or school. It'll be a great signature scent for sure.

I'm a fan. I'll keep using my decant until it runs out and I'll report back to see if I feel the same after I've finished it. And then... we'll see if I'll take the plunge and get a full-size.

Lovaloo

I own and wear the EDT formulation from the 1950s, it's one of my favorites for springtime. I do not like the loud EDP formulation from the 1980s (I have a hard time with 80s perfumery!)

I recently tried this modernized version at Macy's. I think it's very faithful to the Chanel No. 5 DNA: aldehydes, neroli, ylang-ylang, jasmine, rose, Chanel's plush iris heart, and their distinctive base of sandalwood, musks, and vanilla.

The major differences? I noticed that this version is more citrusy with a much stronger neroli note, it's overall a bit softer and smoother with more of an emphasis on the musk and vanilla in the base, and it has very little/no indole. I haven't tried the Premiere formulation, but I think No. 5 L'Eau easily works as a fresher, softer alternative to the EDT.

For such a fresh, light perfume it lasts an impressive amount of time. Lovely, like a delicate veil gently covering the skin. I don't know how perfumers do it, but this somehow manages to say "Chanel No. 5" up-close and "clean laundry" from afar. Truly a feat in the world of perfumery abstraction.

I think this would smell absolutely gorgeous in the humidity of summer. I'll have to retest it soon!

n.ben885

I thought I would love it just by looking at the notes, it has everything I love and I was very close of doing a blind buy. I went to the store to smell it as i was ready to buy it and I was soooo disappointed. Smells like old, spoiled lotion, not really what i was expecting.

Lyric82

Ultimate clean. Effervescent and soapy citrus softened by light and bright florals and the tiniest hint of vanilla. This is completely Chanel style dna, but a truly modernized and almost stripped down No.5. I don’t think you have to be acquainted to No5 to appreciate this. In fact, it might be easier if you don’t know it yet. I feel like this is the chanel I can reach for in any occasion. It can be formal, or casual. It’s just clean and pretty. And I’m surprised to see that some people think it doesn’t last long because I get 6+ hours with it, which I think is perfect. I just love it. And sometimes I feel like I need to hit the reset button if I was on a streak of wearing very sweet and/or dense fragrances. This feels like it just brings you back to center. It’s sophisticated and beautiful without trying. It just is.

Fabean

Almost little to no sweetness. Has similar vibes to edp but it’s way more citrus. It smells so soapy that I’d say anyone can wear this.

soso.sofia

This is indeed toned down and easier to wear version of Chanel No 5, which may sound bland but it smells beautiful indeed. It retains the aldehydes, flowers, woods and elegance while being fresh. My one and only enormous gripe is that my skin must eat it up, as after 10 minutes it becomes a skin scent on myself, and only a few minutes after that it becomes a non-existent scent.

silverlocusts

She's beauty, she's grace, she's a fresh update of a classic. The essence of No 5 is certainly there, but with No 5 L'eau we get an uplifted zing that floats freely. The adelhydes are prominent, and there's a soft orris that is not dusty melded with a sultry ylang. OG No 5 is sexy in a satin sheets on a Saturday night kind of way whereas L'eau is sexy in a cotton sheets on a lazy Sunday morning kind of way. For me personally L'eau is a lot more wearable on a daily basis while still maintaining some of the glamour of the original.

Phoenix♡2022

Beautiful! A fresh interpretation of No5 but not a clone of it (unlike the Eau premiere that it's a delightful No5 in a lighter and more airy version).
L'Eau has its own light & elegant "identity" with a clear hint of Chanel's typical "DNA".

Picture this: white shirt and jeans not in the most casual way but rather with a nice scarf on the neck and two little perals on the ears.

Evie01

I can’t wear the legendary original Chanel no 5 because that one turns too strong and sweet on my skin and gives me a headache. L’eau has everything that I loved about the original and removed all the notes that made the original one unwearable. In L’eau, the sweet and heavy florals are replaced with natural non-sweet citruses. The aldehydes turns the citruses in the opening into a sparkling lemonade, which later fades into the lovely original Chanel no 5 drydown with clean and powdery orris root. It’s a perfect, modern and effortlessly elegant freshie, and it’s intimate sillage makes it a perfect signature scent for the office

endlic

沒有預期是這樣的味道(花香滿滿),很女性的香味。

GoldIris

Dirty old woman, that's what this fragrance smells like.

rainydays

Soapy, aldehydic, airy, elegant. Much more approachable than the original No.5. Something about this reminds me of my grandmother, but I mean that in the best way-- a freshly pressed shirt, perfectly coiffed hair, simple yet pristinely manicured nails. At this point in my life it's a bit too "put together" and mature for me, but I can see myself wearing it someday.

QuincesI

Yes, it's a bit weak, with a much stronger jasmine-lemon aftertaste than in the classic No. 5, but that might appeal to people like me who aren't big fans of the basic reference (yes, there is such a thing). But other than that, I don't find it particularly noteworthy.

I often find Polge a little weak - or else, with a very aristocratic ethos, which can produce both beautiful and weak perfumes. I don't mind his fragrances - in fact, I like them - but they're all lacking some personality, some extra soul.

alleycatseyes

So anyway this is a refreshing classic, a newer addition to a Chanel No. 5 line for gen X-Z, a younger fresher, very expensive champagne for breakfast with a glass of water on the side with an extra lemon twist watching the tide from your villa.

MelissaKS

I finally smelled this today and it reminded me a bit of Paris-Venise. I could be way off, but this is beautiful. This will be a phenomenal summer scent.

Update: I’ve been wearing this on one arm and eau Premiere on the other and I don’t think they smell similar at all. L’eau is bright with all the citrus and musk, while Eau Premiere is a soft, powdery vanilla and ylang-ylang scent on my skin (almost like candy or bubblegum). They’re different enough that I wouldn’t mind owning full bottles of both. I can say now that L’eau doesn’t smell like Paris-Venise, but they’re in the same category and vaguely similar. I’d reach for them after a shower and on a warm day for a clean scent.

I get decent projection and longevity from this scent as I do with most Chanel fragrances.

EugeniaEliette

I received a sample of No.5 L’Eau from Chanel with my purchase of Coromandel Parfum. It is fresh and soft. This is an elegant, effortless, and delicious scent, but doesn’t last at all. The reviews compare it to Chanel No. 5 Eau Premier, which I just ordered in hopes that it is indeed almost the same with more lasting power. Will update…
Update: I just received Chanel No. 5 Eau Premiere, it is not bad, but they are not the same. L’Eau is my perfect signature scent. Just ordered the larger size so I can spray to my heart’s content 💞

SweetSillage98

I remember buying a 35ml of this one, during fall... almost winter period, I used it daily during winter time before I go out and I can tell you: when you wear this one during fall/winter period you will turn into an "Ice queen", the citruses are so crisp and fresh it gives an "icy" feeling. not too powdery for me. rating: 8/10

supersaiyan

A brighter, happier version of Prada Infusion d'Iris to me. They are quite similar - musky and clean, though the L'Eau has a fantastic lemon note without the smell of chemical cleaner. I adore this one, it makes me regret selling my Infusion. Doesn't last super long, though, but I enjoy the lasting power as it's refreshing to spray every few hours and doesn't last long enough to get muddy mixing with the random smells of the world and myself.

Enrium

Chanel No. 5 is a classic that I adore. The EDP is my mom's signature scent, and I have treasured vintage miniatures of the EDT and parfum versions (the original No. 5, as the EDP was created with some deviation in the 1980s). I fell in love with Eau Première as a teenager - the original 2007 version in the slim bottle initially, but it's the 2015 update that I consider my signature scent now (or the closest thing to a signature scent for this lover and collector of perfume!) Eau Première has been taken off the Irish market in recent years, but I tend to pick it up at duty free. I feel that L'Eau is considered a replacement of sorts for EP in Ireland, but it has never hit the spot for me in the same way. L'Eau is an EDT that is fizzier, sharper and brighter than the smooth, rounded creaminess of EP, an EDP. I feel that it somehow lacks finesse in comparison to the original or EP despite being very good. Still, I reach for this scent in department stores if I'm wearing EP in order to refresh it, since it's the closest thing.

L'Eau opens with bright, juicy citrus notes, alongside fizzy aldehydes. The joyful opening reminds me of champagne. It mellows as it settles, with smooth, powdery white florals coming to the fore. Clean jasmine and sweet ylang ylang are most evident initially. When powdery rose and iris emerge, it reminds me a little of Prada Infusion d'Iris, but is more sophisticated and less baby powder-like.

Clean musk blurs the edges as it dries down, with vanilla adding subtle sweetness. It is pleasantly powdery here, yet light as air. It resembles EP most at the drydown stage, but L'Eau is lighter and more musky, even if the musk is just a whisper. The powdery, musky florals fade to become a skin scent after several hours. Sillage quickly becomes intimate after the radiant opening had subsided, while longevity is moderate.

L'Eau manages to achieve what it set out to do - it is a much lighter, more youthful version of No. 5 that should appeal to modern tastes. It is pretty, feminine and inoffensive, but high-quality and elegant as befits Chanel. It is ideal as an everyday spring/summer scent, and a good gift option. While it is undeniably good, and brings No. 5 to a new generation with new fragrance tastes, I have no need for it, given the existence of EP. 3.5/5.

nterix

The most delicate and fresh member of the N°5 family. Big, big citrus opening and much more mellow aldehydes with a light powder and strong musk. I get some ylang-ylang but not much else in the floral department. L'Eau was unarguably made for the spring and summer months, but I can see this being an easy wear in the fall and winter for something light and fresh. This strays the farthest away from the N°5 DNA but it holds true as best it can. I originally owned this but later realized I much prefer the Eau de Parfum and Eau Première. However, this is the perfect fragrance for someone who wants to get into N°5 and wants something much more approachable and friendly to wear.

Sabiya Alexandria Sevier

Tried this one and it's very fresh, lemonadey and fabulous! My Mom really loved it and said "I love that fragrance, Sabiya! It smells so fresh and clean!"

Chanel No 5 L'Eau is the fragrance that I wear it almost everyday because it last long enough!

chicagogirl

The original No 5 has a lot of haters (and it kinda deserves it lol). But I've always loved the drydown of it. It's such a pretty, sophisticated soapy note at the end! It takes forever to get to that though w original No 5. This one starts off with that same cloying strong smack you in the face jasmine as No 5 but it dries down quickly to a beautiful dry soapy scent. A lot of people call this an old lady/grandma perfume (I HATE that term, fragrance has no age gtfo). I see it as a scent only a classy, refined, sophisticated worldly woman can pull off. It reminds me a bit of Prada Infusion D'Iris. Not the same scent but similar in the sense that both are sophisticated clean, powdery soapy florals. I see this working year round. Even though it's clean/powdery/soapy it still has some sort of warmth to it that I bet would be cozy in the winter. Kind of like cream colored suede gloves or something.

SaraZigova

Everyone who loves clean fragrances, buy and watch people around you compliment you ❤️

ANNAFRYS

I am fan of soapy scents. It reminds me the begining of perfumery - vintage soap delicate and fresh scent. Lovely to me. If I could I would like to take a bath with it

batemanment

I feel something towards this..

nyteshade

On paper this had a classy, soapy, citrus vibe. On skin, it quickly turned to hot baby powder with slightly spicy undertones and maybe patchouli? (I know it's not listed, but that's what I get).
Husband didn't like this one...he thought it smelled "strong". Not my thing either.

Shinibi

As you know, it's classic and very generic. At first, you will smell a bit of citrus and then after a while, you can sniff soft powdery, musky scent which I like.

CR95

My signature for a while. I love it. Makes me feel super classy without being grandma like. Downside: doesn't last very long.

Zamanvitha Fenecios

I have had a bottle of this from my Thai-American friend and celebrity Kamolchanatarn Bainbridge because I wanted exactly what it purports to be a lighter and airier version of Chanel No. 5 and it smells so effervescent — especially on the dry down. The scent itself is fresh, lemonadey, jasminey, relaxing and luxurious and it does read like No. 5 at all.

Well, it is. I can wear Chanel No. 5 L'Eau everyday!

Januarie

Sparkling and citrusy classic Dove soap. I think it's so nice! It's clean, creamy and a great mood lifter. I personally like No. 5, but cannot see myself wearing the e.d.p as I find it very thick. This one is genuinely a younger version of No. 5, it still smells like that rich soap, but it applies way lighter. Even though it's trying to approach a younger audience (with Lily-Rose Depp being a teen at release time) it is definitely not body-spray level, it's not edible or sweet, it's not floral in a way that makes you think of flowers, and it's very-much not at teenage price point. Yet, it can still be worn by anyone, I can easily see a 16 year old liking it, and a 76 year old liking it, it's timeless. As it settles down on the skin I get mainly ylang-ylang and woods and I love it. Lasting power to me is very fitting, at about 4-6 hours of wear on skin. This one is one of my feel good scents in my collection, and I will always grab it when I want something neutral and feminine.

hola gigi

Different than the original whereas I wanted to scrub that one off! This one doesn't last long enough to be scrubbed. Amped up citrus and ylang ylang...gone within an hour.

Vicky456

This smells exactly like baby powder on me, nothing changes after that.

Ferra_Verto

This is all the effervescence and brightness of N⁰5 captured in a beautiful bottle. Sparkling aldehydes, bright lemon & neroli, lightly sour ylang, and very fluffy musk. Lingers for a long time, clings beautifully to the skin. Feels fresh, sweet, & uplifting.
Wonderful for the warmer months, definitely worth exploring.

Pampelmousse

I have a creepy story for y'all a la Stephen King: For a brief moment in college, I volunteered for an undertaker in a mortuary. I started with helping sort paperwork and concluded with assisting with an embalming. Chanel No 5, together with No 5 L'Eau smells like that experience to me. The aldehydes used aren't the soapy-fresh kind, they're closer to formaldehyde. So in summary, this perfume literally smells like death to me. However, It's perfectly composed and if it's your thing, it'll last all day too.

pancakespancakes

Very fresh and citrusy. Smells clean, not heavy at all.
I could still smell it on my skin the next day even if the sparkly notes had faded. Will definitely get a full bottle for the summer.

Lili1105

If heaven has a scent, this is what it smells like there. I wasn't blown away by the classic Chanel 5, but when I smelled this, I fell in love. No, it's neither aldehyde nor citrus, but divinely delicate flowers covered in a light cloud of powder, but no, it's not powdery either. It is something beautiful, delicate, pleasantly sweet and obsessively good, which hugs you and warms your heart. An incredibly beautiful sophisticated feminine fragrance. I feel like a fairy with this scent. No other fragrance has driven me this crazy for a long time, like this one. It does not bother, it is not violent, it is not too sweet, too powdery, too flowery, but perfectly balanced. It's just a pity about the longetivity. For that price, it should be sunremovable from the skin. Unfortunately, it only lasts a few hours, but it last better on clothes than on the skin.

afalkvidd

Tried a sample of this one and it's very similar to the original No5, which is for me mostly soapiness but not as heavy. My partner really disliked it and said "I was going to hug you but now after that perfume I think I'll wait" so I washed off the scent. ;) Not for me, these Chanel No5 flankers (or the original, for that matter..)

Xowah

This perfume was addicting for me. The first paper sample perfume I got woody and citrus notes and it the citrus made it smell sweet like champagne and cleaning supplies, but I couldn’t stand how it wasn’t a sweet feminine scent like what I usually like. I couldn’t stop thinking about the champagne appeal and how it felt like being under a sunny day or that random bathroom cleaner smell. I had to retry it because I wanted to smell the citrus aspect of it again. Trying my vial sample I love the citrus so much. You cant go wrong with this woody citrus. While it does smell like cleaning supplies, the smells of champagne and blue sky make it feel more sophisticated. After the dry down the smells become more powdery. I really wanted to not like this perfume for it’s cleaning supply appeal. But I just keep coming back to it because I want to smell it again. I’m not even sure what I should wear with this. Maybe to bed? Definitely in the summer.

AA4102

I see how Chanel made this to appeal to a younger generation – to keep the N⁰5 name alive.. and it's great and all. Lighter, fresher version but somewhat "sterile". I still very much prefer the parfum, EDP and EDT iterations.

Dorothy812

I like it a lot. Usually the neroli and ylang-ylang notes give me a headache, but this one doesn’t offend me at all. It’s unmistakably Chanel, and very fresh and pretty. It could be unremarkable compared to the original No. 5, but I’m fine with that.

KTobie

Smells like a body wash or bar soap that is heavy and can't decide if it wants to be masculine or feminine. But I can see why someone would like it.

LSAUG

I agree w/ the review below. I need not add more. But I will add a hate emoji instead of the nice ok emoji. Just as bad as #5.

sydneycmck

This perfume is very strange to me, but it smells like every part of a bathroom. With the first spray there’s a very sharp, bright, and dense citrus punch straight to the nostrils. Smells akin to toilet cleaner, but imo a lot of citrusy perfumes do. Whatever, as it doesn’t really bother me. BUT, there’s some odd thing going on in the background and dry down- I pick up on something evereverever so slightly fecal, but otherwise it’s a nice powdery ‘grandma’ish smell.

tirput

Effervescent citrus. As presented on the pyramid, the opening of No. 5 L’eau is a blast of sparkling citrus mixed with clean aldehyde. The aldehydic citrus then mellows down into powdery scent. The SPL is not the best you gotta respray it throughout the day.

If you’re a hardcore fan of citruses, you’d most likely enjoy this beauty. If you aren’t, do sample it first and learn how it develops on your skin. As much as I want to like it, on my skin this perfume develops into something pungent especially during the mid phase. Pretty, but just not for me.

I have had a bottle of this for maybe 6 years now. Bought it because I wanted exactly what it purports to be, a lighter, airier version of No. 5.
Well, it is. No mistaking it is No. 5., with a twist of citrus or something to make it lighter…And it’s that twist that makes me not like it. I can wear it in the warmer months, sure, but there is just something sharp and off putting in the background, especially on the dry down. The last review before me described this as effervescent, and that’s actually a good way to put it. But while that reviewer enjoyed this quality, I do not. It’s like when you have extremely carbonated Sprite, that has gone warm, and it sorta burns to drink it!
I almost never reach for this and just sprayed it on a paper again yesterday to see if my mind has changed on it. Nope.
I just can’t get on board with this one. I’ll keep to my No. 5 EDT and only wear it in the cooler months. But where I am in the Northeast we get almost no spring anymore and winter seems to go straight from November to almost end of April! I can wear my No. 5 EDT for quite awhile lol. I’m going to reach for a lot of other things in the summer over this No. 5 L’eau.

mychinarose

I love all versions of No 5, and this one I think is especially good for Spring/Summer during the day, and as a bedtime scent year-round. I’m realizing that L’eau reminds me a lot of Sprite (though not quite as sweet), or maybe Ginger Ale. It has that same effervescent and bubbly quality to its citrus lemon/lime aspect, with a slight zing at the end. Love.

GizPop

I imagine Daphne from the Bridgerton series would wear this perfume. It is a young classic, that successfully preserves the vintage appeal while being perfectly wearable and contemporary. It is indeed airy, carefree, a little naive but also sassy, with a great presence about it despite being so fresh.

Danadoo

As a die hard #5 fan I have mixed emotions with this one. I do love the lighter, airy quality and this is a nice option to wear in summer, as I just cannot do #5 during the hot and humid summer days we get where I live. It still gives you the unmistakable #5 DNA, but has a freshness about it with all those citrus notes. Now what I don't like is that, at least on me, it disappears very quickly especially when compared to the original #5. This seems to be gone within a few hours. My other issue with it is on the dry down it very much reminds me of the White Musk fragrance from The Body Shop! This gives me 90s mall vibes and is ALMOST a deal breaker for me and makes me glad that I only purchased a small 5.0ml to try it out. I will have to see if I can reconcile with this as I test it out over time. As a Chanel lover, I'm glad that they are trying new things with the most classic fragrance ever created!

Bashayersnose

Fresh fresh fresh fresh 😌🤩 I thought I was "over" the CHANEL designer fragrance DNA that I stopped cold Turkey since highschool. But that smell lingered on after sampling it on a strip.

Purchased the all over spray to get a taste "at a more decent price" then got enamoured with the citrus opening soft aldehydes and the dry down is very mellow smooth and inviting.

Longevity: shortlived. But hey who cares just spray it more often. 50 ml bottle is tiny and fits.
Projection: moderate arms length.

Itz not boring it's not too mature. I've been spraying it like crazy for two weeks straight now. More eager to try no.19 and no.18 now that I gave e this a chance.

Sannesans

For me this is perfection. I totally agree with Sjess.
In search of a new scent, I travelled through Guerlains, Diors and ended with this one. As you can see in my profile I am a big Chanel fan as their fragrances go really well with my skin. Coco Mademoiselle is a little bit too fruity and sweet for me though, maybe because of age or season. I adore Gabrielle and Essence, but I am in love with Chanel no 5 l'Eau. Always have been. The sweet freshness and classiness are devine. For young and old I would say. Powdery, rosy, beautiful drydown. Never stop producing this, Chanel!

tamtamyboi

this is Chanel no 5 without its bad qualities + citrus. i sprayed this on a tester strip and it was love at first sniff. i also sprayed the original n5 and compared to leau it smelled awful. i let them both dry down and Chanel no 5 (EDP) had an awful scent (on paper) smelled like a musty bathroom and bad breath???? But leau was completely different it dried down musky citrusy and woody. Chanel no 5 leau >>>> EDP

Green & Blue

My thoughts on this perfume can be polarized at times.
When I like it, it's classy, elegant, feminine, real class, refined, luxurious, you name it.
When I don't like it, it's just like a coquettish b. Simple as that.

Raluko111

I am not a fan of aldehydes. Having said that, I find this a lot more tolerable and contemporary than the perfume by the same name. Perhaps what has ruined the allure of No.5 is that there are so many cheap dupes that the scent has become synonymous with the cheap and ordinary. The silage for this is nowhere near as strong as the original, but after a few hours, the scent develops into a more pleasant citrus which I can appreciate, if not love. Overall, I would not purchase this, but I am glad that the brand is still out there for those who love it. The love of my life, Le Feu d'Issey has been discontinued and I have been searching for years for anything that even comes close. I think brands need to be more considerate of their customers and perhaps create lists of perfume lovers, who could still request their favorite formulations. I would be willing to pay more for that type of service than to chase the new and disappointing EDP/EDTs that pop up.

Unusualus159

A Chanel employee actually gave me this as a gift. He said it's very unisex and I am totally agree. Even though it's very powdery at first, it's transition out nicely and leave you a very very nice floral scent which I love. This is an young version of the classic N5, easier to pull and very appealing for the mass. You can also smell the quality of this perfume, as the scent is very clean and neat. I think they lower the aldehydes. The projection is fine, after 2-3 hours and it's only skin scent. Overall a nice scent and a safe blind buy for those who love the powdery and classic floral perfume.

Sjess

I have this one and the Eau Premiere, love them both so much! No.5 itself is a bit too classy for me but these flankers are really excellent! L'Eau is my go to during spring and summer, Premiere is perfect for autumn/winter. They both have that distinct Chanel note which makes every Chanel frag instantly recognizable, and are younger and fresher versions of the original. They can be worn with jeans but also a nice dress, not many fragrances can really pull that off, but these are perfection 😍

mimahirn

Not so much a review as an observation….

As a No 5 collector and enthusiast, No 5 L’Eau was an exciting release for me because it brought out facets of the original that could potentially appeal to a whole new segment of Chanel fans. However, as I made my way through a whole bottle, I realized that No 5 L’Eau is more akin to the classic 100 year old Chanel No 22. No 5 has more sensual sandalwood and musk to anchor it, whereas L’Eau and No 22 just float around in an ethereal cloud of aldehydes. The point of this post is to point out that if you’re really enjoying L’Eau, you may very well enjoy No 22 or vice versa. Or, you could really be over the top and layer them like I do sometimes.

turkishgirl

Love this scent! But use it on your skin because it will develop with your own identity ☺️ On my skin it turn very vanilla 😍 but…. The longevity is very very poor and the projection also…. Few years ago it was not like that.. chanel touched the formula and because of that i will not buy it and it’s so sad because the smell is divine… but 100€ for a 50 ml that last 30 minutes… no.

tamtamyboi

how can I start?

Chanel no5 leau has been my signature scent now for nearly 4 months and I simply cannot get enough of it. It so light yet I projects well, the citrus notes aren't too sharp (ie Elizabeth Arden green tea, 4711 original cologne they both smell like bathroom cleaner to me) because it's backed with a nice sweetness (that's not fruity) that give it a scent that is reminiscent of a picnic under the hot summer sun eating lemon tarts and drinking champagne.

I know that a lot of people are afraid to buy this because of the "aldehydes" which they think smell like an old woman which this at all does not smell like an old woman, the aldehydes are heavily toned down compared to the Chanel no5 EDP and does not have that soapy scent, instead, the soapy scent becomes a very ethereal powdery scent and all the citrus and florals help it

I really love this perfume because I can layer it so that it can fit the event/time (ie if I want a more formal scent id layer it with heavy patchouli perfume, or when I want it to be more floral id layer it with miss Dior roses n roses

Sadly the performance isn't that good. it only projects for about 45 minutes after that it sits much closer to the skin, it stays there for about 4 hours then it's gone. I have gone thru 2 bottles since I got my first one 4 months ago, you really have to use a body spray if you want its projection and longevity to last, a bit overpriced in my opinion because you really do have to use a lot just to get the desired result

Overall 9.5/10

Review from the heart written by a girl for the first time
Chanel No 5 L'Eau Chanel for women
Ooooooh, the scent of originality, the scent of tenderness, the scent of warmth, the scent of safa', the scent of sunrise and dew, the scent of all authentic depth, the scent of childhood and soft femininity, a very pure scent.
I was a current notebook, I love modern perfumes
What I expected to love her like this
Every girl is pure, like the sky and the white clouds. She must try and buy this masterpiece. It is not natural. The purity of the fragrance in it is not natural. The comfort and attractiveness that you wear.
Fantasy I loved her so much.

Midnight Lady

So pure and intimate at the same time. As always with Chanel - the opening scares me lol. But after a few seconds I find it intriguing - aldehydes with lemon supported by creamy/balmy ylang-musk base.

I really do like it. Can't smell it on me after two hours though.

I'll give it another go later on.

I couldn’t possibly love this scent more. I can’t compare it to the original, but when I first sprayed it, it reminded me of an Estée Lauder fragrance that my mother used to wear (White Linen maybe?) However, as it dries down it becomes so sweet and delicious on my skin. I’m a sucker for anything that plays around with jasmine and white musk, and I can smell both prominently once this has spent some time on me. I’d say that this scent would smell good on (and to) just about anyone. Completely inoffensive, might be the safest blind buy I’ve made.

Katv2003

I really like this! This smells much lighter and fresher to the original number 5 but it still has that kind of spiciness to it. Very classy and elegant for ladies. It's not an offensive smell and is safe for any occasion

OTA Mom

I have found my Chanel! Lemon and aldehydes anchored by neroli. The warm summer sun peeking through a haze of wispy clouds. Pretty, sparkling, and discreet. Seeking fb.

japanese_newbee

The moment wore this fragrance it smells fresh but immediately changes sweet. My personal image is that a lady with the scent seems to be in the bar where the lighting is dark and amber whiskey comes out.

nickinicole

Disclaimer:
I have never smelled Chanel No. 5 on me, and wanted to try this first to ease my way into that classic.

Review:
I rarely "hate" a fragrance, but this was immediate turn off for me. I had high hopes because the notes are typically everything that I love...except the "Aldehydes." They sometimes do something very strange on my skin where the fragrance feels soapy, but very heavy (almost smothering even with one spray). I'll admit that it did linger for hours...which isn't the most exciting thing when you don't love a scent! It was also more mature than I expected considering this is typically marketed toward a "younger" audience.

I'm sure it smells amazing on many and based on previous reviews if you like the OG then you will probably really enjoy this one. I am obviously just not ready for such as classic, so I think I'll stick with my more mainstream (aka "basic") Chanel collection for now.

PNBP

came back after using it for a period of time. i can say, the more i wear it, the more i love it. i like classy & classic so spare me from sugary, sweet, chocolate, fruity coated scents please. have you ever seen such scents stayed in the biz for longer than 5 years except la vie est belle? it surely smells like fresh lemon, and well i love lemon scent anyway. it smells clean, a fresh - you can say soap but hell yeah, i wear perfume to "stay expensive" - not to appear bubbly, girly, too much sweetness, too much approachable like victoria's secrets or bath & body works. so i will purchase bigger bottle while keeping 35ml bottle as a decoration because it's a rare, cute version that my friend gifted me.

Jaeyoung07

I agree with most of the reviews here - this is a feel-good type of fragrance. Everytime I put my nose close to my wrist (where I usually spray my perfume), oh boy do I always feel giddy and bubbly. I also got my 50 mL of this beaut this winter and I would say that the perfume is best worn during this season - mainly because of how crisp the scent becomes when it combines with a -10C environment. The fruity notes also give me a mental image of white, powdery snow for some reason. Sad thing though is it doesn’t project much (so I need to spray like 3-4 times just to be able to smell it once outdoors) but I think that the sillage improves once you’re in a hotter environment (since the volatile components would start to evaporate from your skin #chemistry). With that said, I’m looking forward to test my bottle during spring time and see how the scent changes or expresses itself. Definitely don’t see this one during summer, but I don’t know Chanel might prove me wrong on that one.

I also agree with Chanel’s description of this perfume; that this is the modern approach to Chanel No 5 - since I definitely feel that it’s easier to pull off this fragrance more than the original Chanel No 5, and I can see myself wearing this one in a lot of occasions. I don’t think this is my signature scent to be honest, but definitely I will wear this one a lot while it’s still cold outside.

realitygreene

I am speechless. I LOVE this scent. No 5 L'Eau is absolutely beautiful. I have discovered that I like aldehyde scents when done well and imo this is a good one. For the first 10 minutes or so I get all of the citrus, but mostly the lime and I surprisingly love that! I've never been a lime person before (taste or smell), but this fragrance is incredible. It's clean and sparkling, but not sudsy soapy. I love the accompanying floral notes and the base notes as well, which isn't as much of a surprise, but they are all presented differently than what I am used to in this fragrance. This perfume is just amazing. I want a 100 ml bottle ASAP, but probably will settle for a 50 ml since Chanel fragrances never go on sale. I cannot wait until the day I walk into a department store and buy this fragrance. I also can't wait to test this in warm weather. It's winter where I am, today is 30 degrees F and this fragrance just shines wonderfully.

dansey4

I tested Chanel L'Eau today for the first time on my skin. I wouldn't say I liked it on paper, but on my skin, it was the mild version of Chanel No.5. After 4 hours, the powdery scent was prominent on my skin, and the more I sniffed, the more I could smell aldehyde. I like it for a winters night but not for summer. I like it, but I don't love it. But I like it more than Chanel No.5. Will I love it if I wear it more? I would. Will I buy this? Humm, not on impulse. I will be thinking about it.

Seldarius

Expected to like the opening here more than the original, but the citrus is too sharp for me. After a while it settles into a very pleasant, soft floral though.

lemon_lyric

This is a fragrance that does not fit me at all, personally. It's a very dainty, innocent and inoffensive smell, starting off with very fine citrus, that, paired with my skin, is akin to the smell of cosmetics, or even body lotion: even when the base notes settle in, while the vanilla becomes sort of prominent, it still feels synthetic and powdery in a bad way. It does strike me as pretty naive and flimsy...
The longevity was actually decent for me, definitely not something to write home about, and the sillage was disappointing; overall it felt like it was barely there.

LouiseRose

I just adore this lovely fragrance that starts off as a bright but still warm citrus, then blooms into beautiful florals, and then softens even more to such a sweet and perfectly pretty scent. I have used Chanel products for skin care for years and I really wanted to find a signature scent by Chanel. Therefore, for many years I have sampled No 5, Coco, and many of the popular, but what I consider “heavy” fragrances and they were just that….way too heavy for me. I did find Gardenia and Cristalle Eau Verte, that I like in the exclusives line, and then based on the reviews on here, I took a chance on this one and made a blind buy. I’m so happy I did! I agree, it’s light and doesn’t last very long as a skin scent, but on clothes it does fairly well. Unfortunately, I have that nose that “over smells” things, (such as when people are doused in strong perfumes) so this light fragrance well works for me. It is simply a heavenly scent. I am going to order the travel size so I always have it with.

Jana711xx

Tried this for the first time this week and I am in love, I have finally found my Chanel! With every other Chanel I have found them too loud and too obvious to be able to wear them daily as a signature. Every time someone walks into a room wearing CM or No5, No 19 etc everyone knows and a persons individuality is completely overshadowed by whatever Chanel they are wearing. The N°5 DNA is still present in L’Eau but it is so so subtle it does not scream “Look at me I am wearing N°5”!! Neither does it contain that vulgar N°5 civet note that I can detect even in the EDP version although it is not listed. I have always been put off trying L’Eau because folk say both the longevity and sillage is appalling but I do not find that at all…yes the sillage is discreet but that is what I look for in a perfume I wear a perfume for my own pleasure and for those closest to me I do not wish to share it with anyone else and the longevity is amazing, it lasts for hours, and most importantly the dry down stays consistent it does not sour on the skin like N°5 tends to do on most people including myself. I can honestly say that L’Eau is one of the most beautiful perfume that I have ever encountered and I have encountered hundreds in my time.

supersaiyan

On paper I should hate it. Even to my nose, I detect detergent/cleaner fluid lemons, which I should hate, and it does irritate me as the association is there, but... I don't understand why I enjoy this so much. It's bright and sunny but not sharp, a bit cleaner-like, with a soft musk in the background rounding out the citrus that's just so soothing and easy to wear. I quite enjoy the power on this one. L'Eau would be suitable for all seasons, I can totally imagine this on a bright winter's day. This one really surprised me, I may pop for a bottle.

swimmingrose55

L'eau makes me happy whenever I smell it. It smells similar to No5 but there is definitely a difference. I think this is lighter, sweeter, and more delicate. Also, it is an EDT so it isn't very strong. I'm not very good at describing fragrance but I can say that when I wear this and catch whiffs of it throughout the day I feel instantly energized and it always puts me in a good mood. My mom used to wear No5 EDP so maybe the feel-good vibes are because of the good memories I associate with the smell?

blkleather_redlace

Not No 5 at all. Lemon aldehydes and a strange aquatic note...perhaps the orange blossom? Honestly it smells like almost nothing. This must be for people who hate perfume but want to buy a Chanel fragrance.

Intrepid-Taste-1111

I don’t know about this one. frankly, it feels like it’s held together entirely by the marketing copy. the scent itself is unremarkable and kind of weak, and it doesn’t read like No. 5 at all. if you want a more modern, youthful take on No. 5, go for Eau Premiere instead

ozlemmenguloglu

very weak.. sillage is weak.

adelaidesandrina

A stunner, although this wasn’t a love at first sniff. L’eau truly grows on you! The more you wear it, the more you love it. Smells very similar to the original no.5 at first. No.5 to me is very very soapy, while L’eau is more citrusy, aldehyde-centric and that musk really hits you in the drydown.
Oh and also, how could i forget the most beautiful subtle touch of powderiness? It’s definitely not linear.

This is more of a skin scent unlike no.5 which is a powerhouse. It has a very small scent bubble, it’s more intimate. The musk really works here, to me it made this fragrance ultra sophisticated. It’s the definition of “your skin, but better”!

L’eau to me is a very versatile scent. Perfect for everyday use, perfect for a night out, perfect for a fancy event, perfect for an after shower scent.. and it’s even perfect for bed. It’s an essential summer perfume, it blooms under the heat for sure. However i’m not too sure how it’ll work during the colder weather. I feel like l’eau is an underrated release, deserves more recognition. However, i think it’s good as it is so that it won’t get too mainstream :D you’ll stand out from the crowd and you won’t smell your perfume on anyone else lol

Scentedalterego

Elegant and light, minimalist style. Not a strong scent but lasts quite well on me, but I have to overspray. Has a vanilla-orris undertone, but the the vanilla is more pronounced in the Eau Premiere (first version in the long bottle). This one is more about refined musk and airiness, blended Chanel-style.

This one grew on me, at first I felt it lacked presence but it actually lasts all day, surrounding you with a musky citrus aura, and the scent itself is just so likable.

Callista25

No. 5 L'Eau is clearly a Chanel freshie but not clearly related to No. 5 to me. Is bright, well blended, and purely clean/synthetic smelling, making it perfect as a gym scent. During the No.5 episode on Persolaise someone on the live chat called L'Eau no. 5 Sport, and that feels like the perfect description. Knowing that no. 5 is probably the opposite of a modern sport fragrance, I think it would have been better off not carrying the no. 5 name.

matthra

This is the smell of hope.

The soft aldehydes along with the neroli drenched in various citruses is simply transcendent. I'm reminded of memories I want to make: spending time with the people who count; existing safely in a secure place; simply carefree and laughing. L'Eau seemingly wants to orient me forward through the world's current, exacerbated strife with these images. I may not have lived these "memories," but I can live off of them until I eventually get there.

Once the top notes fall away, the perfume is musky and woodsy; very clean and unisex. It becomes intimate in a platonic, stately way.

The person who wears L'Eau is a pillar, an empath. Someone who wants to project sheer reliability and hope into the world around them.

thestranger

The opening of this smells vintage, meaning that for me, overspraying would probably give me a headache. I think I am just not into the aldehydes that my mom oversprayed as a child. But I really love the dry down - there’s something about it that reminds me of the ladies in church when I was a child. Maybe one of them wore it? I can’t put my finger on it, but smelling it reminds me of pews. I’ll revisit this in my late 30s when I'll be more able to pull off such a classy and ladylike scent :)

violetscout

straight up fizzy sprite.. I've grown to love it.

greenteacherie

I was gifted a small bottle and really enjoy its dialed-back youthful interpretation of No 5. I say youthful, but really any age can wear this. It’s light and fresh, easy to wear, very accessible. If you’re a diehard fan of No 5 or looking for a long-lasting sillage monster, you might be disappointed by this, but if appreciated for what it is, it's very good

haileytf

I have a very close connection to this perfume. I love the original No 5 for the nostalgia of it. I smelled it and immediately remembered my great grandma, even though I had only met her a few times when I was young. So I bought No 5, but knew I wasn't ready for it yet. Then I tried this. I loved it. It's so similar yet so different and very wearable for all ages. I bought my bottle at the original Chanel boutique in Paris and it will forever be my special perfume. It smells lovely and soapy and feminine and soft. It lasts fairly long on me. It might not be up everyone's alley, but it's special to me and I only wear it for my most special occasions and always feel like I have a sweet little secret to tell when I do.

FloralBread

Definitely a lighter sweeter version of the classic pure parfum and the EDT. Seems like they took every criticism and tried to make a new bottle to appease to those critiques.

L'Eau has a more creamy and mild orange to it, not quite as sharp and ripe as the more lemon-y citruses I usually go for in a citrus based scent. I think L'Eau is a good addition to the Chanel lineup, but it's specifically meant for those who find Chanel No.5 to be too dated and strong. And by that I mean L'Eau is targeted to those who only care for the initial spray as their judgement...

This one holds a lot back on purpose. Wearing the EDT on my right wrist and L'eau on my left, I can sense the similarities and differences.

Overall I think the main purpose with fragrances is the dry down. Usually it's only yourself who would experience the first few minutes of a perfume as you're getting ready - for the day, for a date, for an evening out, etc.

L'eau has an opening that is the EDT's dry down.

So the issue I have is that L'Eau is too mild, too subtle, and you have to be clear of any scent from the outside world to even notice it. If you wear the EDT and keep you nose away from your wrist for the first 20 minutes, it'll become a much softer and gentle fragrance, instead of that harsh woody aldehydes many shy from - but also one that lasts much longer than the L'Eau can attempt to.

Otherwise I would say the Eau De Toilette is ever so slightly more "spicy" than just a pure vanilla that L'Eau becomes.
Though in that case, you can find a good classic vanilla-based Guerlain fragrance for 1/3 the price of Chanel's L'Eau.

Still a good fragrance, but I think if you're wanting a Chanel scent at a Chanel price - you want to go for that distinct classic scent. Otherwise you can find other fragrances that are similar if not better for a more reasonable price point.

valevaleria

Can not think of a better way to describe it but the main accords listed above. Very classy. Not the usual tipe of fresh unoffensive scent.

ClassicsLover

Someone has to take a stand against these fragrances that are weaker than drugstore body mists. It's outrageous that Chanel is asking over $100 for such a weak product. No projection. No silage. Seriously, the dish detergent I wash my dishes with has more fragrance. Just terrible. This is going back.

silverma

Smells like a refreshing Sprite

Zethre

Beautiful, light, citrussy, with softening from the vanilla etc. Very similar to Paris-Venise.
Not at all like Chanel no. 5 EDP which is very iris with a touch of citrus and a faint bitter note.

Edited to add, Chanel Paris-Venise, Chanel no. 5 Eau Premiere and Chanel no. 5 L'Eau are all almost identical in scent, lasting power and sillage.

bobaddie

I don't usually add my voice to this site as I'm a bit of a noob when it comes to fragrance, but I'm going to have to disagree with most of the reviews here that claim this perfume has no longevity. I put this on in the morning and it lasted all day, I showered and I could still smell it. Maybe it doesn't have longevity and sillage compared to original no 5, but I wouldn't know as I've never smelled it.

On the fragrance itself, I didn't like the original blast of smell, it was too yellow floral, musky and bitter on me, a bit like dial soap, potpourri or lysol. But the dry down was softer and more powdery, with hints of sweet. I think I might hang onto it, as it might grow on me, but it's probably not going to be my go to frag.

Exquizeet

SCENT: This is a citrus, aldehydic, and musky scent. The citrus notes are beautifully blended with the aldehyde notes to create a clean and fresh scent. The citrus in here is subtle enough that it never smells like cleaning detergent. In fact, my nose detects a lot of the aldehydes. It reminds me a lot of white bar soap scents. There's supposed to be florals in this fragrance, but I can't detect any individual florals. They may be blended in to create a sophisticated and very light sweetness.

DRY DOWN: This is a very linear scent to my nose. There's not much change from initial spray to dry down. The scent may be a little muskier at dry down and the bright citrus notes may have evaporated, but it's barely noticeable. The well blended and intricate scent is maintained throughout the life of the wear.

SEASON: Summer - This is a light and subtle scent that can be worn in any weather, but I believe it performs best in hot weather. I do wonder how the longevity and projection would wear in colder temperatures.

TIME OF DAY: Day time - The citrus notes brings to mind bright sunny days.

SCENARIO: This is a signature scent. It can be worn on any occasion. It's subtle and classy. Perfect for the office, brunch, or dates.

GENDER: Feminine - While this scent lacks the conventional saccharine notes that makes fragrances feminine; instead, it creates its own femininity with aldehydes and musk, making it soft and sensual and all the while, adding a mature sophistication.

LONGEVITY: 3-6 hours on skin - I can't detect the scent all the time, but intermittently, I would get a strong whiff of the scent within the first 3 hours. After hour 3 and until hour 6, it becomes mostly a skin scent that's barely detectable unless my nose is right up to the point of application.

PROJECTION: Intimate - It's mostly a skin scent, but it may be detected at around elbow length.

PRICE: $175 CAD for 100mL

OVERALL: 9/10 - I really like this scent. Although this wasn't an instant favourite, the scent really grew on me. I think the versatility and the fresh and clean aspect of this scent makes this an easy choice to wear on an everyday basis. I believe this is an acquired taste. For someone who's looking a relaxing, sophisticated scent. For someone who's already aware of how Chanel No 5 smells like and wants something lighter, brighter, and fresher.

Aldehydic citrus over white musks. Smells like a sporty Chanel. I don't really see much of a connection between L'Eau and no. 5. If I forget the association then I think this is a nice cologne to wear to the gym or on a hot day.

Tsatsenskaya

If there was a more expensive version of this with decent longevity and some sillage in the market, I would be sold for life. Currently I make this work for me by putting on No 5 Eau Première in the morning, and then carrying a bottle of no 5 l'eau in my purse, to apply it more often than I care to admit all throughout the day. The bottle does look gorgeous in my purse, and it feels quite fancy to be reapplying it while stuck in traffic.
No 5 l'eau has changed since it first came out and it is now further away from the original, extremely fresh and gorgeous. I have no problem with the original, but my husband does. This is a version that is still put together, but does not carry the risk of reminding anyone of an older family member. It is fresh and uplifting. Great for gym and hot days.

annxyz

Very pretty scent that co$ts a lot and has pitiful longevity. Does Chanel have a conscience or a quality control officer ? Their masterpieces are rip offs for consumers.

I bought this when it first came it out 2016. The scent was beautiful - clean, floral, bright, and familiar enough to be nostalgic, but different/modern enough to be it's own thing. OG Chanel No5 was one of my mom's signatures for as long I can remember, and I thought No5 L'eau was the perfect successor for me.

However, as much as I loved the scent, I returned it shortly after buying, due to it's atrocious sillage and longevity. You know it's bad when the $100 perfume on your shirt gets drowned out by smell of handsoap after you wash your hands. Tbh, if I hadn't bought it from Sephora myself, I would've thought it was a fake. It literally lasted like 10 min before disappearing completely, and I'd have to spray like 8 times right before leaving the house to even smell it in the car. I even did some blind tests on my bf to see if I was just anosmic to it, but he also said no. After a week or so of testing, I decided it wasn't worth the money and ended up returning it. I still love the smell and I love revisiting it whenever I'm at a store. I would gladly repurchase if they changed the formula to improve performance, but for now, it's a pass.

Not really sure what to add that @jackboardy didn't already cover.

Although I do love the EDP of No. 5 (haven't gotten around to properly trying my swapped bottle of EDT yet), the EDP is a bit much to attempt to wear liberally in the summer. If the EDP is a heavy-hitting triple shot of [enter your liquor analogy of choice], then L'Eau is her White Claw / wine cooler little sister. Easy going and perfect for the scorching heat.

Speaking of the heat, I was pleasantly surprised at the massive difference in longevity that I noticed between seasons. In the cooler fall/winter months, I felt that I barely got 2-3 hours worth of wear, but in this unrelenting summer stickiness, I was able to smell L'Eau on myself for a solid 6-7 hours.

Once I finish out my little 5 mL decant, I very well might add a full bottle to my wardrobe next summer--I've got plenty of others to keep me occupied in the meantime.

Malifiscent

One of the extremely rare Chanel perfumes that does not give me a headache. I don't know what it is about Chanel, but I assume it's something to do with their DNA that my body can't seem to handle. I have tried to love them, but they have that particular DNA in most of their perfumes- which is all I can pick up- so most of them end up smelling quite similar to me. Regardless, No.5 L'eau was one of the best exceptions.

A bright and sparkling aldehyde without being too piercing, overly heavy or old. The citruses give it a bright and lively feel, mixed with the aldehyde that's wrapped in a little bit of a soft texture which restrains it from becoming too sharp. It feels a little bit powdery, but not in a dark and heavy way, but more so like soap or almost like delicate baby powder; not that it smells like a baby, just gives the aldehyde a more soft and rounded nature. However, it is still a little on the dry and heady side, so by no means is this just a light, fluffy delicate fragrance. A strong but pure, rounded and approachable character is how I would describe it. Maybe because of it's slightly powdery texture, I actually prefer to wear it during slightly cooler seasons, around spring or autumn, which is much less headache inducing as well.

jackboardy

This fragrance is so very lovely. It’s a very pleasant wear, and perfect for the summer - airy, citrusy, clean with a hint of powder, infused with an lively burst of aldehydes at the opening that shimmer like a bottle of freshly popped champagne. The spotlit ylang ylang and medley of citruses up top add a wonderful juiciness to the No. 5 DNA; this makes No. 5 L’Eau a much more friendly and approachable fragrance than the cold beauty that is the original grande dame Chanel No. 5. The cedarwood and musk here round everything out nicely, helping to ground the airiness of the fragrance a bit. You can spray L’Eau liberally and multiple times throughout the day, and can be guaranteed to be pleasantly refreshed. Highly recommend.

I have a somewhat complicated relationship with Chanel No5, I love its soapy, powdery and aldehyldic veil but it can be challenging to wear in that I really REALLY have to be in the mood for it and I'm never really sure how to style it since I like to match my clothing and scents to my mood and how I feel that day. No5 EdP I love during the cooler months, however paired with a navy and white striped breton or a neutral coloured oversized flannel shirt, it does work well with my favourite white button down shirt though when I want to look more polished, professional and put together, but its just too much in the heat.

I've always been fascenated by No5 L'eau, from the crystal clear juice in the classic flacon to the advertising campagn, I've smelt it constantly when passing Chanel counters and I never really understood why I never owned a bottle of it until a few days ago when I decided I'd grab a 35ml bottle, simply because I felt that I should explore the No5 universe a little further. The packaging in which the bottle arrives in is lovely, minimal with an embossed silhouette of the bottle on it, the bottle is the same as the classic No5 bottle with the exception of the juice being clear rather than amber, but what I find more impressive is the atomiser! it delivers a wonderfully fine mist with each spray meaning you get an even distribution of perfume.

The scent! Chanel set out to produce a No5 flanker which was more youthful, light and airy, safe to say I feel that they have definately succeeded in doing so, the opening is very fizzy and fresh, one reviewer mentioned a freshly opened can of sprite and I agree with that comparison, its refreshing and cool but not in the same way that, say, Light Blue is for example. The drydown still retains some of the citrussy freshness but its tinged with some gentle ylang ylang scented powder before drying further down to a soft cedar musk.

Now, whilst I absolutely love the smell of this, I do find it to be very light and I have to spray this liberally on both skin and clothes to get it to stick around a little bit, this is certainly a skin scent on me which the original No5 in EdP form isn't, and despite its lightness (and the cost!) I simply cannot hate it, I really do like this one but I do think accompanying body products such as shower gel and a body lotion would be a nice touch.

The scent is a skin scent for sure but its nowhere near as challenging to wear like the original No5 line, office safe, summer casual wear safe, I'll easily manage 5 hours of wear from 6 generous mists on both skin and clothes. Whilst I do think the longevity could be better I simply cannot dislike this, I would happily repurchase this in a larger bottle in the future, I may even try Eau Premiere next.

scentedlove

This one took me by surprise. I didn't expect to love it as much as I do. Usually, I detest fragrances that lean at all soapy, but this is on another level. It's luminous and haunting to me. Sparkling and clean with a slight sweetness that makes it addictive. LOVE, LOVE, LOVE.

camilacarlos

Smells soapy, but in a good way. It took me years to recognize the aldehydes, that fizzy feeling, and now that I get it, I love it! Clean, fresh, easy to wear, effortless, office-friendly. Fairly linear on my skin, which I like. A fragrance that let you shine. I can't compare to the EDP, but I like this version. I think it is a must have in the collection of any perfume lover.

Emma92

Lovely, I have both Premiere and L’Eau and can justify both. L’Eau is just so easy to wear, much more citrus, and so uplifting. Premiere has that creamy base that I feel takes more effort to put on. I wear L’Eau more and reach for it first thing in the morning. Absolute love from me.

amandawilliamspalmer

Beautiful smell but very little lasting power or projection. If you like the smell go for Number 5 EDP and layer with a citrus perfume. It will last a lot longer and smell better. I will take Chanel 5 l'eau to the office to top up my Chanel 5 Parfum in the day.

renashepet

I like this, it's a nice. It does have that Chanel DNA that I'm sure everyone knows by now (whether they love or hate it).

My mom wears the vintage Chanel No 5, one that she treasures and uses sparingly because she hates the modern formulations (I'll admit I'm not a huge fan of them either). But, this one isn't bad, I do enjoy it. I'll be completely honest, I mostly used this as a bed-time scent during the winter.

I feel this is a lighter, better smelling version of No. 5 and a great gateway into Chanel. And if you don't like it, it's okay, you won't be able to smell it in 2-3 hours. Maybe I'm being harsh with this, but I can't see myself buying it again - or many other Chanel fragrances. They all have the same "Chanel-base" and I've grown tired of it.

Overall, it's a good scent and I suppose a nice light introduction to the current formulation of No. 5. So for those that feel that No. 5 is nice but to "mature" for them, this may be worth a try. So while I may not be thrilled about the scent personally, I can see that there are positives to it. Like everything else, you should try for yourself. Who knows, this may be your new favorite scent.

Harmony Grace Elohim

I thought long and hard before going ahead and buying this perfume. Being introduced by my mother to the classical Chanel No 5 EDT in early 80s, when I was 16 years old. I made sure to order it from chanel.com to make sure I received the freshest and truest perfume and it did not disappoint. It's exactly the kind of scent I like; soft, powdery, warm, gentle and very feminine. For some reason, Chanel No 5 has always given me profound and deep reaching comfort. It is the same with this version. I like to wear this in the early summer, especially on a rainy day. I am deeply satisfied with this scent, all the various notes and duration throughout the day. This one goes well my skin. I have other perfumes that do better if I spray them on my clothes. I put a spritz on my heart, so that the scent is under my nose all day. There's no doubt that I will keep this scent in my collection for a very long time to come, for life likely. It's especially nice to wear to bed as it's very gentle, soft and calming.

nancy.france

I like this fragrance but it would be a whole lot better if it had decent sillage.

A light and airy interpretation designed with the younger crowd in mind, I can appreciate the attempt to entice a new generation to engage in the world of Chanel fragrances. However, a fleeting fragrance is not the way to do it.
This is a lovely lightweight composition that requires some heft. I love wearing it but want to enjoy it throughout the day not just for a few hours.

I hope Chanel reinvents this one in order to satisfy the need for right and proper sillage.

L'eau is a very airy and delicate version of No 5. It's so comforting and happy.

But it is just so faint. No sillage and weak staying power on me. I sprayed it 4 times and 10 minutes later I asked my husband if he liked it and he couldn't smell anything. In fact I can barely smell anything, only if I put my nose against my skin... :-(
I know this is the l'eau and an EdT, but I wish it had more power. I love it, but for now I'll stick with the original and the Eau Première version.

Update: L'eau doesn't last much on my skin, but it stayed on my sweater for days. If you love it, always spray it on your clothes, not skin. Also I love it more and more every time I try it.

supergirl9412

I mean .. yeah, it’s exactly what you’d expect! A fresher, brighter No. 5 ... classic Chanel DNA. A little heavier than I’d expect a “l’eau” to be but nice staying power. I often associate smells with colors and textures. This somehow managed to compliment my current overcast day while being bright; grey and yellow. Very Pantone 2021.

Very well blended .. hard to pick up on individual notes, especially in the drydown. Opening is very clearly lemon/aldehyde .. a little too lemon bathroom cleaner, though. Those aldehydes are solar!

Not a perfect fit for this sweet/gourmand lover but still pretty. I’ll either save my tester for when the mood strikes to wear it or I’ll give it to my mom, who loves a Chanel.

brandybasisty

This scent smells like a cross between Chanel No.5 and Tom Ford Metallique.

ghkim

This is a floral, aldehyde, powder scent with a touch of citrus for me. It has a vintage vibe, probably from the aldehydes, which also give it a soapy feel. I was looking for something that gave me a Chanel No 5 experience without being unwearable for me, and this does the trick. I do not find it particularly beautiful, but I appreciate the history here. If the OG is more aldehydic and more powdery, then I do not need it in my life.

lyka

j'adore cette fragrance, si légère et chic à la fois, surtout quand il fait très chaud; que dire, aérienne, fraiche, classe; La chaleur lui permet d'éclore encore mieux

Stephbean212

I have been always wanting a Chanel No 5 iteration in my collection since I started collecting perfumes; however, I was nervous that I could not pull the EDP or EDT off. After much debate and review reading I decided to ask for a sample of Chanel No 5 L'eau from my Macy's counter. Technically targeted to me, the "Millennial" I'd figured I had nothing to lose.

I am in love with this fragrance. At first I was worried the aldehydes would date the scent but all it does is add some brightness and fizziness. The scent then quickly dries down to soft citrus, floral blanket of beauty. Definitely non-offensive and not as in your face as No 5. Does that make it less of a perfume? For me, no. I feel like this is the casual, modern take on a classic but that doesn't mean it will be a hit for everyone, especially those who enjoy more powerhouse fragrances.

In terms of lasting power, I do not have the same issues as some others here with it disappearing quickly. After testing this fragrance out, I would say this lasts at least 5 hours on me before it becomes a full on skin scent.

I am so glad to have this in my collection and hopefully this will open the door for other iterations of No 5 for me!

whimsyandhoney

From my boyfriend’s perspective: “What perfume are you wearing? It smells like baby powder...”

Me: it’s Chanel - do you like it?

Him: I could smell it before you even came downstairs!

Lol, so take this as you well. He avoids the question, hah! Anyway, I like it. This is something maybe men won’t appreciate as it paints a certain picture of femininity to me. It smells like a powder room full of makeup and citrusy handmade soaps.
I also feel like as a young woman growing up there’s always an older woman in our family or elsewhere that we look up to or appreciate who wears (or wore) Chanel No.5. It is a special and unique smell, and the No. 5 L’Eau puts that citrusy spin on it.

violetbelle

This smells just like opening a perfectly chilled can of Sprite, with the tiny fizzy bubbles gently spraying out of the top. Powdery and cool. Dry down is softly floral with a hint of vanilla. So pretty! :)

CurrencyThat

L’eau indeed. She opens up with citrus, lots of it the first few minutes, and dries down into a lightly sweet, lightly fresh, lightly powdery scent as citrus disappears. This beauty is modern and chic despite her vintage namesake and any woman of any age can pull her off. She’s soft, elegant, and classic-leaning yet modern. Certainly refreshing and a wonderful flanker.

Elisabeth M.

Awesome, modern interpretation of Chanel's timeless classic No. 5. Less powdery, clean and crisp with sparkling aldehydes, it could easily be a new signature of mine. BUT the longevity is so weak, L'eau is almost gone half an hour after spraying on. Chanel has to work on longevity and projection again. Then it will be a masterpiece.

genny17

I had it a few years ago, and I enjoyed its stylish vibe, fresh yet elegant...bought it again last month, and it has definitely been tweaked...I thought it was weaker, and longevity was bad...it was gone so fast so I sent it back..I thought I got more projection from the Body Shop musk l’ eau..for a lot less money.

gemma_ni

Marketing research shows younger demographic like fresh, citrus scent. Many of them are easily seduced by marketing and brand story. Here comes No. 5 L'Eau.

Frederic Malle said in an interview that people wear different fragrances to represent their personality. The ultimate versatile fragrance won't be legendary in perfume history. When No.5 hit the market the first time, it was revolutionary. Not only the scent and quality were unique at that time, but Chanel's hunger marketing, unbeatable storytelling ability, and charisma all combined to contribute to the success of No.5.

The revamp of this legacy boils down to a pleasant smell, lighter concentration, and inoffensive character. The only thing missing here is the edginess and the innovation this brand used to have.

She's pretty, yet somehow blends in the background.

Alright, fine. I’m here to update my review after spending an entire pandemic with this scent.

In short - I completely didn’t get it but now I do.

This scent is casual with a capital C. I don’t know why, but it reminds me of growing up in my hometown in the ‘90s. Shania Twain, sheets hanging on the line at our lake house, 99% cotton blue jeans and the smell of skin that chanel so expertly captures in literally every version of this scent, from the Parfum to L’eau.

L’eau is special because it smells great on its own, but I find it enhances so many other fragrances when spritzed on top. Every other formulation of No5 is enhanced layered with this, and I often also wear this with the original a chloe EDP and get comments about it smelling like fabric softener.

I’m still sad about the longevity on my skin with this one, but I’ve found with wearing it at home (aka not running all over town going to meetings) if lasts excellently on clothing and I can still smell it on my shirts and scarves the next day.

Now if they could just give me full-sized versions of the body products (they’re seriously tiny compared to other Chanel bath and body products) I’ll be a happy girl.

Heaven.

Chanel No 5 L’Eau EDT Women opens with a strong projection of sweet, citrus, musky, and floral accords. The opening is very fresh, mature, sharp, with a noticeable musky slightly animalic accord, and pleasant. The aldehydes, neroli, lemon, with a pinch of sweet orange are the most noticeable opening notes, but they are joined by the rest of the notes very quickly. The aldehydes are a notable note that presents itself as a combination of musky, airy, clean, fresh, soapy, and floral accords. The ylang-ylang is also noticeable, floral, sweet, creamy, woody, and musky with a dirty touch; similarly, the jasmine joins the neroli with a sweet and fresh white floral accord. As the fragrance moves to its dry down, white musk and orris root develop creating a projecting and powdery accord. The vanilla, cedar, and rose are just a soft touch in the background. Most of the sweetness of this fragrance is from the mandarin orange, and ylang-ylang, not vanilla. The fragrance has a noticeable opening to dry down change, the opening favors citruses and white florals, however, towards the dry down, these citruses will lose some intensity while the yellow floral and fruity ylang-ylang, the musk, and powdery orris gain strength. The initial strong projection will take a step down to moderate. Once Chanel No 5 L’Eau EDT Women has reached its full dry down, it can be summarized as a moderate projection, sweet, aldehydes, neroli, jasmine, ylang-ylang, musky, and powdery orris fragrance with fruity, woody, and citrus accords. The fragrance feels airy, mild aldehydic, animalic, breezy, casual, classy, clean, dense, slightly dirty, diurnal, dry, elegant, feminine, floral, formal, very fragrant, fresh, fruity, high-quality, mature, very musky, old-fashion, refined, short-lived, versatile, white, and very pleasant.

A very light and inoffensive interpretation of No 5. It doesn't have the village of No 5 EDP, and it lasts a couple of hours. The scent is very unique, clean and sophisticated.

snow_white

The citrus top notes are beautiful and sparkling, but they are so short lived. This fades into a weak ghost of classic no. 5 after the citrus fizzes away into the ether. I’ve always disliked no. 5 but I think this one is much better, too bad about the longevity.

mewyq

Me, the person who struggles to finish even minis and sample-sized bottles of perfumes is now on my third full-sized bottle of this. I have never repurchased a perfume before No.5 L'eau. Possibly blasphemous to some, but I like it layered with a vanilla scent - Diptyque's Eau Duelle and Arquiste's The Architect's Club are my favorites. I think this combination makes it smell like how I wish Eau Premiere would be like. Like many Chanel fragrances, Eau Premiere has a tendency to take on this ash-tray like quality to my nose - I don't know what it is. In these cold months, I like to spray the mix of L'eau and Architect's Club directly on my sweaters and PJs... the effect is just so soft and comforting, especially when I catch a whiff of it when I wake up in the morning.

Angeldaisy

Musky! Edit: Nov 2020: The Red version differs to the batch of L'eau that I have tested. I love the Red one! I like this one. Strange how a simple nuance can make a difference.

But I am jolly confused by the votes. This doesnt smell like Eau Premiere at all to me.

This is a slightly powdery, sparkling lemon musky number. The Ylang Ylang is very toned down, whereas it is a main player in the No.5's.

It is beautiful. Ssmells rather like Les Exclusifs Cologne (same musky base) and the Chance edts far more than No.5.

I have eau premiere on my other hand, which is a sweet, almost edible, No.5, without the skank. Truly, nothing like L'Eau, which is a musky modernised eau de cologne.

If anything, it reminds me an Exclusif and probably what I would expect Les Eauxs to smell like. Shall be testing this out a bit more, but on first wear, it is too modern musk for me and if I were test this blind, yes it is a Chanel, but I would never guess it was a No.5 flanker! not never.

Unisex. Although so is No.5!

mimahirn

L’Eau is a sparkly fizzy bubbly glass of aldehyde champagne. The bottle is classic No 5, but the genius little nozzle sprays out the finest mist, it feels incredibly luxe and indulgent. It creates a halo of solar brilliance around you. The aspect of L’Eau that makes it so unique to me is that the aldehydes continue to play and shine even in the dry down. I agree completely with other reviews that this is an abstract fragrance. I get some citrus initially, tons of ylang ylang, and then just more sparkle. I love how Chanel has re-worked the classic No 5 and given us so many options to make her our own. Brilliant.

denoko

Chanel No 5 L'Eau is an abstract perfume, it's this abstractness that I love so much about it. It's not easily translated into words, it's not easily extracted into separate notes. It's a complex, non-definable whole of non-distinguishable pieces.
So the common description of it as a modernized version of a classic scent for marketing purposes means nothing to me. It's more than that.
Two nights ago I had one of the worst times of my life and No 5 L'Eau was there to sooth me, I could have never imagined a product being able to cope with such a hard situation. It really did, it won my heart forever.

MyMother'sNo5

This damsel is a paradox; brimming with fizz, and abundant fun, yet postured with that very sophistication and coyness that we all know was inherited from her high-esteemed, well-respected grandmother aka Chanel no. 5.

A pretty, pretty citric aldehyde, true to the opening notes. A zesty lemon is a standout here, accompanied of course, by Chanel's gold standard aldehydic philosophy. While there is quite an extensive list of notes listed, I cannot pinpoint most of them out, but in perfect harmony, they mingle and dance, and with such grace, Chanel no. 5 L'Eau became an effortless, mindless classic staple in the fragrance world. No, it is not beastly in performance, neither is this to be known for its sillage, and no, the longevity leaves much to be missed - a testament to its composition as a ‘L’Eau’.Yet in this, lies her beauty, the impermanent aura, a Cinderellaesqueness, making us look forward to seeing her again. It is no effort to reapply, just to rejoice in the splendour of that sweet opening once more.

Personally, while this fragrance shines in the spring-summer period, I have lately found that spritzing it ever so lightly, clean out of the shower before bed, works a treat. This is a very clean perfume, just airy enough to not weigh me down or overpower, simply work in perfect unity with my own body chemistry. I don't quite resonate with Monroe's decision to apply no. 5 to bed, as it is quite heavy for me perhaps because I'm younger, yet L'Eau is a model bedtime fragrance. Other times, I’ve been pairing this with Molecule 01, which adds even more dimension without burdening the main focal point.

Conclusively, this is the absolute, modern answer to no. 5, and a no-brainer purchase in my opinion.

Naomie

I had high hopes with this one. My mother is wearing the original and it smelled amazing on her however I didn’t find it suitable for my age group. When this came out I was super excited cause I really wanted to have a super super classy statement scent, but I was really disappointed when I sampled it. It was nothing special for me an other fruity perfume which blends in with the others. It’s not that it’s not nice, it’s nice, but i forgot how it smells like in about 5 second, did not made me think of the notes in it, did not find it exciting or classy or memorable and I really went out there to have something outstanding. I have 20+ perfume, I love them all, use them all, but I needed to have a signature for autumn-winter vibes when I don’t feel like Libre (my other absolute fav) or would suit all year around. At the end I went for N19 and that’s exactly what I had in my head when I walked in the shop. So at the end I’ve got what I came for I guess 👌🏽

Emma92

I am addicted to this and wear it most days in the morning. It is so fresh, so bubbly, and so effortless. It has a permanent place in my collection as it suits any occasion and is easily layered.

Longevity isn't great, but that isn't what I am looking for with this. If I apply it in the morning I either reapply in the afternoon or apply another scent.

This is so comforting if staying at home and to me is better as a bedtime scent than the recently marketed Coco Madamoiselle L'Eau Privee. It is also the perfect tonic in the heat.

mauryji

i can't help it i instinctively turn to see who is wearing this

_and every face is made just perfect

_its beauty is supreme - what beautiful flowers of ancient splendor

LizzyBathory

I'll admit it: I don't like the original Chanel No 5. I just find it too powerful, too (sorry) dated and too heavy on the civet. But L'eau removes those things that rub me up the wrong way and makes for a sparkling aldehyde fragrance that makes me feel happy. It keeps the classic DNA of the original but updates it in a way that makes it very easy to wear for those who appreciate the original but just cannot wear it themselves. It's No 5 for summer, Millenials and anyone who enjoys smelling classic and modern at the same time.
