Eternity by Calvin Klein is a Floral fragrance for women. Eternity was launched in 1988. The nose behind this fragrance is Sophia Grojsman. Top notes are Green Notes, Freesia, Sage, Citruses and Mandarin Orange; middle notes are Carnation, Lily, Lily-of-the-Valley, Narcissus, Marigold, Violet, Rose and Jasmine; base notes are Musk, Heliotrope, Sandalwood, Amber and Patchouli.

Eternity is another very successful fragrance of Calvin Klein, which was designed as a tribute to his marriage. Eternity is a hymn of eternal values: love, family and peace.

The composition opens with fresh citrus and green notes, that is followed by the note of violet and lily-of-the-valley. The note of carnation with its spiciness gives the floral heart slightly peppery accord. The final notes are gentle with powdery heliotrope, pink sandalwood and transparent musky notes.
The perfume was created by Sophia Grojsman 1988.

Old vibe, sharp. I find it repulsive.

Blakes7

My mom wore this I wore poison ha I preferred sweet spicy sticky! This was always instant headache! I realized as I grew up, I hate two notes! Marigold and oak moss!!
But sadly marigold hates me

AbdullahK

The scent is strong 🌸, but definitely feminine 🚺. I sensed a jasmine note 🌼, but it's classic and not suitable for men 🚹

smelling.sniffing.swan

Very sun cream.
Green grass and freesia. Very airy.
I'm noticing some violet is adding a dry, slightly screechy, chalky texture that I'm not loving.

It's easy, unisex, and pleasant enough. Breezey, potent and ready to be splashed on.

I'm finding that it smells quite dated to me... and I just can't get around the SPF note, I find it a bit unpleasant.
It's like the bottom of my mum's beach bag in the early 2000s.

VERDICT: Not a bad perfume, but not for me.

Jordan 99

On me this is bit masculine, unisex vibes for sure. Sharp lemon, green notes opening. Prominent carnation. Not mine cup of tea, but great longevity and projection.

BalkuEdua

My mum got this for Christmas, and coincidentally, I got a tester as a gift with a purchase I made later. On her, it smells quite complex, elegant and fresh, on myself however, only powder, and a bit of white floral in the background. Just goest to show how unique each and every person's skin chemistry is.

Pierinan

Riquísimo, fresco, suave, se siente mucho las flores y atalcado. Proyecta bastante, es el signature de mi mamá y me recuerda mucho a ella, definitivamente una compra segura si quieres oler a florecitas frescas.

Velvetta

I got the new bottle recently, because i missed the scent i had in high school. It was my best friend's signature and she talked me into getting a bottle for myself - i was not into scents in that time. I was actually surprised now, i didnt hear anything about reformulation of this one, but i'm pretty sure something changed. It doesnt last and seems more diluted in generał, but above that it's just different. It's hard to point out exactly what changed but it just has less of this "powdery quality" that it always had for my nose. It is still recognizable, but definitely different. I actually managed to find my old bottle from around 2014 in my family house. I can't wait to compare them side-by-side. But i'm a bit disappointed with the one i got recently.

Edit. They definitely changed it, comparing to my bottle from around 2014. It's pretty disappointing

I usually don’t like the classic and old perfume but this one is so lovely.
I strongly dislike patchouli in fragrances but I feel like in this one in blends so beautifully with other notes that it does’t even register to my nose.
This is a very happy scent to me because it really makes me think of a sunny day, laying in a meadow in spring/early summer. It’s a very warm scent, it feels like the morning sunshine on your skin.
Beautifully herbal, floral and clean, perfect for spring and summer.

pinkmalady

what a classic! 'eternity' was my mother's old signature, which i didn't realize until after i bought and started wearing this 🤡. i do love this scent and have been trying (somewhat successfully) to reassociate it with more positive things.

i love bright, warm floral scents like this. it's formal without being, like, authoritarian? while still maintaining an air of comfort around it. an older white woman fragrance for fucking sure. frankly iconic + dare i say set a standard?

my only real problem with this scent is that it doesn't last an 'eternity' on my skin. it only stays strong for around 3 hours at the very most. disappointing! especially considering how i blew 80 dollars on it.

soso.sofia

Despite the fact that this is not listed in the notes, Eternity smells like nuclear putrid melon on me. Such a pity as I love Sophia Gojsman's creations. No, I didn't buy it, but this is a reminder to always try before you buy...

IVamp

I am not a fan of CK, but this one is an exception. I wore it in my teens and early 20s, so it holds lots of memories for me. Most importantly, I detect lily of the valley, which is one of my favorite scents in the world. Eternity is a classic, clean, smooth, and vibrant scent. Youthful and fresh without being too immature or girly. A mood booster with major light feminine vibes, gracious, radiant, sparkling. Good for any occasion, including for work, as its presence is noticeable but not overpowering, not screaming for attention. Great durability and sillage for a fresh floral, very affordable price.

dspire

I bought this because in today’s world of fruity vanilla perfumes this smells refreshing to me. I think I’m a little tired of all of the new releases smelling the same. So I’m going back to a classic.

SL.MS1958

After decades, I finally bought a bottle of Eternity last year. There is something about the first minute of its flight that I love - I adore freesia - a whiff of carnation, and a green floral bouquet that evolves a bit dry’ish. I love all that, but ultimately Eternity isn’t what I ever reach for. I don’t hate it, and I have worn many of Ms. Grosjman’s creations over the years. I think it may be the marigold/tagetes note, which is part of what makes it unique, that rubs me the wrong way. Lauren (red cube bottle) had that note, though, and I adored Lauren, so I’m not sure what makes me not love it. Dried sage? It is a bridal bouquet that includes some dried herbs, something old and something new. I still enjoy catching Eternity on someone else, though, especially in summer on a breezy day.

chowder.man

this has been my grandma's signature scent for as long as i can remember, so it will always hold a special place in my heart :)

Schondis

It's not my type of scent so can't judge against anything similar(I received a sample in a bundle). It smells nice though, floral and sort of soapy, fresh and clean. Very office friendly I guess!

TheJester420

Ive always found this scent to be timeless and classy. The floral notes mix perfectly with the sandalwood/amber undertones for a perfectly intriguingly feminine scent. This scent goes through many phases as at first it’s a bit musky, floral and then lastly soapy fresh.
They don’t call this perfume Eternity for nothing because it LASTS forever and is loved forever by many. I always recommend any perfume enthusiast to have this on their shelf.

Gabsp28

Have a mini of this and have t tried it until today. I dont usually go for Calvin klein perfumes, they are nice, but not enough for me to buy a full bottle. This one is quite nice, however I don't think I would buy a full bottle. At first it's smells like soap, a nice soap, then it smells like a bouquet of flowers, quite pleasant and realistic. If that's what you usually like then this is definitely for you.

dj71

clean, fresh, floral, no sweetness. Does smell more "classic" than modern in my opinion.

dronx

This smells so warm and fresh but unfortunately I get a headache when wearing it. Something about it is overpowering and doesn’t agree with me. It’s a shame really because it is a nice smelling perfume once it settles on the skin.

candieslove

It smells fresh, can smell a bit soap-like. It's your classic floral-fresh perfume, for me this perfume gives off a "my natural scent but better" vibes. This scent just feels so comforting for some reason

frag_nostalgia

A superb floral fragrance of mostly a photorealistic stargazer lily note, sweet freesia + narcissus, and spicy accents of carnation; with a photorealistic, green note of lily of the valley plus other crisp green notes. Eternity then evolves into musk, with a quite powdery floral violet note coming forward. The drydown maintains lilies, carnation, violet, musk and amber, predominantly. There's a light incense feel in the background (the combination of amber, dry sandalwood, musk, and powderiness) which cements Eternity's vintage status. I imagine this pretty, clean, slightly sweet classic floral pairing perfectly with flowy white linen drawstring trousers and tank top. Or a crisply starched and ironed white button down shirt tucked into high waisted vintage Calvin Klein jeans. Just a sweet, almost virginal, vintage vibe here.

Glynis49

This was my late Mom’s signature perfume and for a long time I couldn’t wear it because well you know it was her’s. Recently I have started wearing this classic fragrance and I layer it with Pretty By E Arden. It just adds another dimension and makes it mine.

diego.lesgart

Some comments... my good!!!

rachelv

It's a warm, spicy, musky, floral scent, with a bit of sweetness. I don't get a lot of green notes from this, just a tiny bit that doesn't really stand out to me. It smells strong at first, but most of the floral notes dissipate really quickly on me. Within 3 hrs, only a much weaker sweet, warm, spicy musk remains, with a slightly more noticeable soapy, powdery smell, but not much floral is detectable. It becomes so faint after the 3 hour mark that you'd have to put your nose almost directly on my skin to smell it. I'm really not impressed by the longevity. Some might say it smells mature, but I would say it's a lot weaker than other fragrances I'd put in the same "mature" category of warm spicy sweet fragrances like Prada Paradoxe, Lancome La Vie Est Belle, Lancome Tresor, YSL Opium, Mugler Elixir, YSL Libre, Marc Jacobs Perfect Intense, etc. It just lacks longevity compared to the ones I listed.

anamarmo

This is my summer go to. This smells divine, very fresh, elegant and powerful. Also very long lasting. Price is also super affordable.

rene.saller

Another inexplicably low-scored Grojsman fragrance that I am quite enjoying. It smells clean and a little sharp and green; one part clean laundry, one part white lily, fresh narcissus, and mildly spicy marigold and carnation. The heliotrope and clean musks in the base confer a certain fluffiness that keeps everything from coming off too pointy or screechy. I never wore Eternity back when it was popular, and I probably wouldn't have picked this up if I were not going through a mild Grojsman kick of late. This is remarkably different from Eternity Intense, which reminds me of chocolate irises and doesn't smell "clean" at all. I know that this perfume has supposedly suffered in the decades of reformulations by lesser brands, but I don't think I would want this to smell any stronger than it is. It seems like it is more than pulling its olfactory weight. This is a fragrance for when you want to smell scrubbed, tidy, and crisp--maybe when you're meeting a banker or interviewing a new nanny. In the spirit of full disclosure, I have never done either and probably never will, but at least I have the appropriate fragrance, should such an occasion arise. Today I'm wearing Eternity to a Zoom meeting with a designer who lives halfway across the country, and any effect it produces will be solely on myself. My hope is that it will make me feel more competent and capable. Aspirational fragrance: is there any other kind?

Makeup Discourse

Clean, fresh and elegant. A green floral in my collection. I'll always have a bottle on my shelves. This one stays on my skin forever!

Perfect10Tara

This was a real perfume fashion moment! The supermodel Christy Turlington in those beautiful black and white beach adverts for Eternity. This is fresh, beach flowers; extremely clean and classy.

Obsesiva

The timeless original perfume extract is the only one that counts, a bouquet of white flowers, clean classy and sophisticated, Grojsman's masterpiece, inside a simple designed tiny bottle with no name on it, that was genius, I still have it and love it.
Then came the atrocious reformulations (which I'm pretty sure most of the negative reviews are based on) by Unilever and Coty, they even change the name to "Eternity for woman" put a cheap plastic cap on top and there you go "Eternity Botched"
Not to mention the amount of unnecessary flankers.

DariaFrancesca74

1988 creation of the famous nose Sophia Grojsman for Calvin Klein. A magnetic floral triumph of rare beauty, kaleidoscopic, immense, fresh and clean. Hyper feminine, sensual fragrance, a magical minuet between the clean freshness of spring freesia and the soft purity of narcissus, framed by sensual and enveloping amber notes.

grapefruit352

I was testing it for awhile..no, no, I cant really enjoy it at all. Have to wash it away! The odor of synthetic washing powder with notes of grass and bitter herbs. Long lasting effect, but in my case its not a plus.

M4rkéta

Her head in on straight and she is not focused on being pretty. A working girl. These florals are very everyday and almost easy to overlook. She does what she is supposed to but she needs to ease up. I like her though.

ssamhita

I grew up in a small town in the 90’s, and while the rest of the world was swimming in a cloud of clean musks and boisterous florals, my corner of space didn’t have access to any of it. Once in a while, you would come across someone wearing “scent” though - we didn’t call it perfume. Sometimes it would be pretty and soft, but most of the times it would be loud and offensive.

The funny thing is, despite not having smelled any of the perfumes from the 90’s during the 90’s, each time I smell one now, I am taken right back to my childhood. Maybe some cheap dupes had trickled their way to our local markets after all? Or maybe it was just the vibe.

Eternity was one of those scents that immediately felt familiar, even though I am sure I had never smelled it before. At first whiff, I get the spice, clove to be precise, even if there is no clove listed. Maybe it is the carnation? It is crisp and clean, and doesn’t feel warm - yet. Slowly but surely, the bouquet of flowers come into play - vibrant, almost sparkling. Like dew soaked blooms in a cold winter morning. The glitter and shine never leaves the scent - but instead mellows down because of heliotrope, musk and sandalwood, while amber makes it warm. Despite that this doesn’t turn creamy or lotion like. It retains its soapy freshness, like someone fresh out of shower. Something about it reminds me of L’eau D’Issey but while L’eau D’Issey has that signature melon note that people either love or hate that makes it sweet, this one retains its clean green scent with very little sweetness.

I would wear this with a white tee and jeans. Or a white dress. Or a white shirt. You get the drift. This truly is such a pristine scent. Longevity, despite being a clean scent, is impressive. I get whiffs each time I move, or reach out my arm to get something. I smell it on my pillow the next day (I always spray the nape of my neck) and even though I am yet to spray on my clothes, I know this will last forever on them.

So is it still relevant in 2023? Heck yes. Because does smelling clean and green ever go out of style? If you’re looking to smell unique in today’s world of sweetened white florals, grab this one. You really won’t regret it.

nisarsarah9

I absolutely love the freshness of this scent and the lasting is so good. It literally lasts an entire day. The fragrance smells clean and fresh and its a perfect choice for spring and summer season. One of my favorites that I can never give up on and you can never go wrong with choosing this as your scent especially for any formal occasions, it works best!

Let_it_be

Yes Eternity smells different now compared to the original. I think the main reason has to do with the Sandalwood. They are either using cheaper variant or substituted with chemicals.

katiejon

Eternity for women is definitely a throw back to a bygone era. The 80’s and early 90’s were when powerhouse fragrances slapped everyone across the face, and no one seemed to even notice, never mind MIND.

I recently picked up a CK mini sample box, and Eternity was included. Whew... that opening is syrupy-sweet florals. I personally do not care for this opening, at all - but I can see how some would really interpret it as pleasing.

That opening lasted maybe 30 minutes, and then the middle was more tame. This is when I asked my husband if he liked it, and his eyebrows went up and he he enthusiastically said: “Yes! I do!”. This is telling because he typically just says a fragrance is “ok”.

I didn’t enjoy it until the full dry down. The super-charged sweet floral finally came down and the screech was gone. It’s ok for me.

Miss boudoir

Only in its vintage pure parfum extract form. I love the motherly hug feeling it evokes.

2023
As I am collecting notable scents of my life, the Eternity has its sure place on my shelf. I remember the craze around it in the early 90-ies: seemed like everybody was wearing it.

I did too, and to me it smelled like turning pages of a freshly minted Vogue. Until one funny guy at a party compared it to a famous Soviet eau de cologne (одеколон) Сarnation (gvozdika). Wow! This had totally changed my perception of it. Up until now, it brings me the memories of a ubiquitous EDC "Gvozdika" that every mom was giving to her child to use as a bug spray. I love Eternity for this very reason as it brings me back to the pioneer camp of early eighties. For me it is carnation, carnation, carnation.

Tigerlillian

You know that beach scene in 'From Here to Eternity," (1953) with Burt Lancaster and Deborah Kerr? This is what this perfume reminds me of, not because it's beachy, but it has a retro aquatic feel; elegant, classic, feminine, strong, yet understated with its smooth jade greenness.

I get a very prominent violet note here which makes me reference the original YSL Paris with the pink cap, and Balenciaga L'Essence. Violet always gives me watery vibes -- sweet, fat, romantic, melancholic dew drops. The spicy carnation radiates elegant heat; freesias add a hint of coy playfulness.

Amber, orange and sandalwood hint at a liquid gold sunset.

Sexy stuff, if retro beach fantasies are your thing!

LanaDelSlay

You spray this and there’s a whiff of white clean soap 🧼 then it settles to ur skin. So clean and fresh. Similar to white dove soap

mabelangel

i do like this perfume! it’s citrusy and feminine whilst also being really mature and sophisticated. i only really get florals when i get to the base notes, the mid and top are very citrusy. i can smell the freesia, lily and lily of the valley throughout though. my first thought was that there could be frangipani but there isn’t which is really surprising since everyone i asked said they smelled it too! i think it’s really nice and won’t be easily cloying. it’s very 90s but also very mature and middle aged. it’s sophisticated! reminds me of a fancy elizabeth arden perfume your mother would wear to work or something like that. similar to dune by dior, not in scent but in feeling. okayish longevity, would have to top up after a few hours. good year round scent, especially in autumn! projection could be better

LanaDelSlay

The drydown is a mix between a drop d'issey and calvin klein one. very clean, pure white soap but with lemons in it,h mmmm so good

Biljana Prijovic Milovano

Elegant, floral scent, for day and for night. Magikal floral soapy cloud, for all seasons, accept a summer

hashizotchi london

Eternity smells just like that - like Eternity. Nostalgic, reminiscent of childhood, smells soapy and that's what makes it cozy.
I don't see smells through notes but through images and sensations, it evokes.
As someone mentioned before, it reminds me of my aunt as well - but in a good way - as she always channeled chic and style.
Many seem to disregard soapy smells - I do want to use smells that smell like fresh crisp elevating soap - full of light and brightness and space.
I love Santa Maria Novella's Rose Gardenia as it takes me to a bathtub somewhere in sunny Italy where the air is so clean the smell of soap makes it even softer. I love Diptyque's Do Son and the classic See by Chloe (sadly discontinued).
From here to Eternity...

lynne2

Eternity has become my spring/summer signature years and years ago. The opening can be confusing because there's spicy citrus opening with sage and greens. Later it transforms and becomes powdery floral with carnation, rose and lilies being the main theme. It ballances on edge of being almost unisex but then at the end of the day it exudes the most feminine creamy scent of face cream and I am in heaven. You can wear it to work, date, wedding, red carpet event.

Mycoleman2800

This was the first perfume my husband bought me, that was about 20 years ago. It was gift set with the large perfume, a travel perfume and body lotion. I still have it, except for the lotion. It hasn't turned colors and it still smells exactly the same. I love wearing this, it blends like a masterpiece with my body chemistry. Unfortunately, I had to stop wearing it. I had a coworker who sat hehind me ask me what I was wearing. Less than a week later she went and bought it and wore it everyday. I stopped wearing it. I know it wasn't made just for me but I can't stand for people to copy me. People think that's weird of me but I am an identical twin. I've shared most things for a big part of my life. When family, friends and acquaintances only know you as a twin it's hard to get from under that shadow....if that makes sense. But I digress. Where was I? Oh yes? This definitely has longevity and silage. I can smell it in me all day. Just whiffs of clean beautiful perfume all day. The smell of this is so unique it's hard to describe it. All I know is this perfume is clean, floral, powdery and delicious. I

Xela_529

CK Eternity is my all time favorite 90s perfume. She is sooo smooth to my nose, she blows my mind every time. I have this theory-- If the same exact juice were to be released by a niche house today, she'd be a hit. It seems like there may be some prejudice against her because she came out in a different time. I actually find that her scent composition is modern and can hold ground today. I wear her loudly and proudly.

Swagnoodle

This is spring and happiness in a bottle to me. Yes, it's very 90's, and yes, it reminds me of my favourite aunt - but it still doesn't make me feel like an aunt when I wear it, if that makes sense. Nostalgia aside, the carnation and narcissus really stands out to me, and I LOVE it. I think it's actually quite unique! It might even be the fragrance I've owned with THE best longevity, I can smell this on my clothes for days. It's turned out to be somewhat of a migraine trigger for me though, so these days I rarely use it, but I still adore it. It makes me feel clean, put together and optimistic.

Elisacorado

Just love it, makes me happy when I wear it ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Melody Valentine

I'm changing my review of this. I don't like it. Even after getting really into floral perfumes this year and having always loved a "granny" perfume when the mood struck me, there's just something about this that I hate.
It's all flowers, no base notes to sweeten it up, I don't get any amber or woods. Just full on fresh white flowers and the kinda savoury smelling sage note. The florals aren't even sweet ones. For some people that'd be great but for me I like gourmands so when I do like a floral it's usually got something like vanilla and amber in the base. I even like powdery perfumes and don't care when a perfume was made, some of my favourite perfumes ever are 80s and 90s classics or even older ones.

This is better as a room or bedding spray. My 62 year old mother doesn't like it either, neither of us are into fresh, light, overly floral, citrus or aquatic scents. I didn't realise she'd had a full bottle for ages that my brother bought her because she never uses it.

I can appreciate the quality of it though and can see why it's a favourite for lots of you. It'd probably smell lovely on someone else. It just comes down to it not being my style. There is something comforting about it though, and it's strong, I can smell it for ages after spraying my room.

I recently bought a couple of Milton Lloyd perfumes, one of them being Monaco which is said to smell exactly like the original formulation of Paris by YSL and I find there's something similar in that. I prefer that one slightly though because it's got a much sweeter, airier feel and smells like parma violets. Eternity gets close to being something I'd like, and I thought I was starting to like it as it dried down but it stops just short of where I thought it was gonna go.

Tinabill

Most of us know a lady who’s generally very good looking, sleek and well groomed but with one eccentric feature; a crooked or exceptionally big nose, a deep almost masculine voice or something of the sort. This feature renders her unique and she carries it with such grace and confidence, never wants to hide or change it, and for that you admire her and wish her confidence would rub more on you. (Sarah Jessica Parker, Barbara Streisand and Joyce Meyer come to mind). However, there will always be haters and jealous people who’ll only see and mention this one feature disregarding the caring heart, commitment, strong personality or success she has.
Eternity embodies this woman totally for me. The sharp green and spicy start (like you sprinkled loads of cloves and pepper on an already edgy carnation) precedes a very beautiful floral heart and a warm much softer base. Amazing perseverance and personality.
This book is not to be judged just by its cover. It’s a journey with a turning plot.
They don’t make them like this anymore. 💚

veda

I hated this perfume years and years and some how I change
my mind and bought.
The carnation and sandalwood destroy the perfume that I wanted to be.
On other people skin it's just not exist and I thought that's how it will be on me.
But no.
Too boring and carnations on me.

violeteme

Very unusual characteristic. Instantly takes back to the 90's era. It smells weirdly soapy, but in a sharp, spicy, bitter way. It doesn't smell like a luxurious soap, just like basic soap from that era. So nostalgic, I believe I met this exact scent so many times, but can't really find exact images in my mind.

albatros

Very unpleasant and headache-inducing.

shenamedel

Talk about a fragrance that has presence & longevity! Eternity Calvin Klein Woman has this in spades! And a very solid green fragrance at that. This has lasted on me for 24 hours & from 2 sprays on my forearm, & I purchased this bottle as a gift for my daughter about a year ago. No need to overspray; 1 spray is plenty & No Joke!

Prexus

I am in Early30’s. I find it a little bit more matured. Meaning late 40’s early 50’s but there is something about this Smell that I am just so captivated with. Green, Crisp. Powdery that is just Feminine power but not too loud. This is the fragrance that I can smell on me & that is why I love this alot. I want a Perfume I can smell myself with. It lingers

AlliLovesFragrance

This perfume brings me back memories of my 7th grade year. I hate powdery scents, but I love this one. It smells unique and very feminine.

no1babygirl

fresh feminine zen. brings back memories of me dousing myself in this before going to work at my first job at jcpenney at age 18. made me feel like a grown woman.

songtothesiren

Very green, sharp citrus notes. My least favorite of the CK perfumes I've tried, but a very classic, clean scent.

Rosa5964

This is the WORST perfume on me I have wvwr smelled. Smells like kerosene on first spray, and keeps smelling exactly the same way until the next day. If I spray it on clothes, it’s even worse.

My skin is normally good with scent. I’ve never had one act like this. No floral or whatever else is supposed to be in here. Straight-up kerosene.

Hippocampus24

This is a perfectly acceptable and casual daytime summer perfume, and it smells fine. trouble is, it smells exactly like a lot of the soaps I use. So for me, not a really "scent to remember" which is what I am looking for. (CK One is much more in that camp and rightly so, it is awesome.) I will probably give my samples to someone else. i literally forgot i was wearing it.

j4yt33

Cloying, powdery and not particularly smooth. Made the mistake of spraying it on in an airport duty free shop and had to suffer through it for the entire flight before I could wash it off

FireDragon76

My perception of when I'd feel comfortable wearing Eternity has sure changed. When i discovered Eternity in the early 90s, I thought it was definitely a Summer fragrance. I was living in the S.J. valley, CA. USA. Now in 2023 home in Denmark on a biting cold Spring day, I only just feel comfortable testing this, but I ended up not buying it, because it's too strong for my contemporary sense of what I want to wear in S/S. The strong and sweet top took over an hour to dry down, but I still like the dry-down.

PeacefulSunshine

Oh my god this is perfect.

Definitely top 5 perfumes for me. As an introverted female who adores all things beautiful and peaceful (I'm a bit socially awkward/very cerebral/always in my head and thus I have more of slightly cooler energy), this fits my vibe like a glove. It's just so... natural! :)

I absolutely adore RL's "Romance" and these are like sisters to me, with Romance being warmer and Eternity being cooler.

Ah, Eternity makes me so happy and calm. Thank you for existing!

catmarie

An ultra feminine, timeless and elegant fragrance. Definitely a classic. I don't normally go for white floral scents, and I don't have as much of an attachment to it as I do to other perfumes in my collection, but in the spring when I want to feel mature, classy and beautiful, I'll wear this. I probably wouldn't repurchase, but I'm glad I have it.

Red Jaguar

I recently was smelling some beautiful fresh white carnation flowers and remembered that I had a little sample of this perfume. This smells 100% like smelling a bouquet of fresh carnations. Spicy soft and green. My sample is a dabber bottle and now want a spray because I expect that the scent experience will be a little different. It feels very natural to me, like exactly what I should smell like.

jeanette123

I can see why they named this gem Eternity. It's a lovely slightly green floral that lasts a long time without being too loud.

arringtonm

very special to me because it was my mom's signature sent <3

Michi_

I used to wear this fragrance when I was in high school....as did half of the school as well lol. So I was excited to try it when I found I had a small tester of it. Oh my goodness....it does not smell as I remember it to and tbh, I'm not sure why I liked it back then, although my husband says it smells like baby powder to him. I feel it has most definitely changed a bit over the years. Definitely a no for me now.

Sade800

This reminds me of Carnations which are my favourite flowers.
Its like smelling a beautiful bouquet of flowers.
A very nice classic scent that I would definitely wear.
It's lovely

Eternity was my aunt's signature scent back in the day, and she wore it beautifully. I remember intentionally inhaling deeply when I was near her, to fill my nose with the luxury. On me though, it is quite hot and screechy. Dang body chemistry. Mine doesn't play nice with many florals, and Eternity has its fill. On the right person, resoundingly a timeless classic.

bananapancake

This is one of the "classic" fragrance for me. It's the first perfume I used after I got it as a gift from my mom, so naturally it holds a special place in my heart. Nostalgia aside, this perfume is objectively decent, a well-rounder that can be used for both a night out and daily use. Smells very cozy and warm. The top note is very white floral and powdery then dries down to more musky. Decent longevity.

Violinist

I never wore perfume until recently and though I remember this scent from my childhood, it’s become new again as I’ve started wearing perfume. There’s an entire generation who have never smelled it and personally, I think it’s timeless. Maybe there will be a rebirth of the old formula? I’m waiting for the comeback—until then, I’m smelling like 1990! 😂

Afc_Croatian

My mom has been wearing this for over 30 years, and I am so pleased to have read other reviews furthermore confirming this fragrance's longevity in people's lives.

Maybe it is a mix of nostalgia that keeps someone wearing this fragrance, I'm sure we all have some of those in our collection. But CK Eternity is also very clean, fresh, with a hint of elegance as well.
Whenever I pick up this scent, I am reminded of all the formal events I have been to with my mom, the blends of citruses and florals are so damn fresh and inviting, easily a safe-buy as well.

It's only fitting that my dad wears CK Eternity for men as well.

9.5/10 and a staple in any collection.

Rainstorm

For my Mum.
I will Love you Always.
Yesterday, today and Always.
This is your scent and it is special just like you. Missing you everyday.
❤️

peachygal

This is a masculine scent for me. Would much better suit a male although the male eternity is very nice as it is.

There’s something about CK fragrances where I think they nail the male line and fail for women.

This one is overpowering and not in a good way. Just masculine, fresh, dry.

I read somewhere that the number of sprays is key with this one and maybe that’s where I was going wrong but none the less, it’s not something I would ever buy for myself.

microcosmos

I’ve been testing a bunch of older perfumes out of curiosity, and I’m a little on the fence about this one. I was born in the mid 90s, and I’m guessing this was still popular in the late 90s-early 2000s. It’s nice, and not headache-inducing, but it’s very familiar, I feel like I’ve already smelled it a lot over the years and it isn’t very exciting to me! Maybe it’s the freesia. Something about it reminds me of the smell of an office or a waiting room. Nothing horrible, just a little boring.

RRivera192

I have an original bottle, and boy is it potent. Definitely a fragrance of its time. Extremely powdery and spicy.

jeremeryfragrance

the older formula was much better. wtf is he new one. it WAS a nice fresh white floral.

simplecreative

To put it politely, I really dislike CK Eternity.

Hermesfan66

Eternity for women has been badly reformulated. Avoid current version, it´s not worth. Neutered, reduced notes.

AdoreFragrance

Timeless & exquisite fragrance. Not overpowering. Perfect for all seasons.

AdoreFragrance

Timeless & exquisite fragrance. Not overpowering. Perfect for all seasons.

Shui-Xian

Truely timeless.
Although modern perfumes have a different DNA today, this lovely fragrance isn't old. I don't even sense it like mature: no, it is airy, soft and pleasantly spicy.

The carnation is dominant in flowery note, however it is not heavy: just gentle and powdery a little. Very clean impression, which is evalated to feminine scent in fresia. Together with green notes and santal I find it enchanting.

I admire this. Solid work, the legacy and love are truely noticable.

Sillage is moderate, longevity about 4 hours top. Nice in every season, I think.

ajraccounts

dryer sheets. i mean, i'm pretty sure eterenity smelled like this *first*, and *then* the laundry detergent companies copied it for their dryer sheet scents. but... yeah. and it's a bummer, because sophia grojsman! i'm testing a modern sample and i barely get any of the green or aromatic notes, or carnation, all notes which i love and was really looking forward to. if the musky dryer sheet accord could be toned down and the aromatic/ spicy notes brought up, i might like this.

Scentfrommanna

I was put off of this for a little while due to a colleague who doused themselves in this to the extent you could taste it 😂

Applied appropriately however, it is a classic (of course it is, it’s Calvin Klein and a Grojsman!). It smells like a lovely clean lotion to me. I was put off carnation in fragrances after hosing myself in Gloria Vanderbilt in my early teens but in this it is blended to perfection. The sandalwood also really grounds this and adds to the clean-ness, and I can definitely pick up the Lily and muguet in this. I think it could be muguet along the lines of Diorissimo (although it’s of course not a dupe) and the lily has the same clean, floral quality as it does in Gucci Bamboo.

I do think this could be worn by a man as well, and I’d love to try Eternity For Men as a comparison.

I have a travel bottle of Kayali musk that I’ve layered under this and it really softens it up, lovely combination.

To me it smells like a comforting mum-hug ❤️ It is definitely a compliment getter and signature-worthy. Can be picked up for an absolute steal in the U.K., even in the supermarket!

I’m really tempted to try the lotion to see how that works too.

mhubbard1961

Liked it very much when it first came out, bought a big bottle when I could and then fell quickly out of love. This is a clean and relatively innocuous floral. And yes, the ad campaign was all about true love and a return to old fashioned values.

zephfear

It smells like sun cream. Has a gentle floral scent.

Tammie 124

I agree with other reviews. There are so many notes that it becomes a safe blind buy slightly green floral office scent. Inoffensive really if you like florals but it's hard to really pick out any specific notes. It doesn't project that well unless you use quite a bit. If I walked past someone I wouldn't be drawn back to smell it is just think they smelt clean like they had added a lot of floral laundry detergent to their clothes.

RedKindra

Smells lovely and crisp, and I associate it with a very pale but bright green. Not really my vibe, but it is nice

Nosyla

Calvin Klein knew how to make fragrances that were ‘office safe’ in theory but would knock out an elephant with three sprays. Eternity is no exception.

Lost Objects

I have an everlasting affection for this aromatic equivalent to a late-1980s Laura Ashley print. It has always smelled a little peppery to me, though the green notes are also up front. I think that this fragrance is one of the classier and “timeless” remnants of that time period.

soso.sofia

Being a fan of Sophia Grojsman and glorious 80's florals, I was pretty certain I would love Eternity. However, my skin obviously didn't realise this is a Grojsman nor an 80's floral, because on myself it is stinky rotten melon. Boo hoo...

D1921

When this came out I thought it was so modern. Couldn’t stop wearing it. It’s not exactly the same, but I still find it to be a unique green floral with a modern edge. To me it’s not soft- maybe the carnation and freesia make the statement. I will always love this scent, it lasts forever.

AuthenticAF

I tried to like this but never could get there. I am not sure why. I think maybe i do not like freesia?

velvetdoe

kinda smells like car freshener and laundry detergent, but it’s sweet and pretty, and a little fresh. i much prefer eternity intense, though.

malikun

Unique and beautiful scent, but will not fit everyone's body chemistry. It smells like bathroom or car freshener on me 😂 But no hate, it brings a lot of childhood memories, it was gorgeous on my godmother. I think it is CK's Shalimar and Chanel N05, one of the classiest scent of the past few decades, the Shalimar of the 90s.

'90sfragrancekid

I have loved Eternity since I was a little kid. One of my aunts has been wearing this since 1988. Brings back good memories of a better time in my life. It is clean and fresh, and makes you feel good. Even though the original lasted longer, the current lasts a good amount of time, especially on clothing. It is never out of place, and though it came out decades back, it smells as if it could have come out now because of how clean it is. The freesia is the standout flower, along with the carnation.

SmoothMoonlight

in the early 2000's my sister and a friend used to wear this. It was quitely fragrant, it was pesent. Not overly strong to the point that it was overpowering. I always admired it on my sister. I was given a bottle this Mother's Day and I have been wearing it every day since. I agree that it is not as strong as it used to be, but it is still beaUtiful. I have been surprised that I keep reaching for it!

I was standing next to a bunch of my scarves all hanging up in my closet and could smell the eternity wafting off them. I buried my face in the scarves and was transported to the early 2000's when I admired this fragrance so much. I usually wear Shalimar and don't swap it out for anything else other than a few days. This morning I got to work after an absence and my colleague gave me a hug saying how happy she was that I was back, quickly followed by how good I smelt. Awesome! Eternity is pretty good value here in NZ. I think I will always have a bottle ready to go. Highly recommend.

Holli

I love this. It's special and ultra femme without being sweet. Everything mixes together to make it more than the sum of its parts. Definitely similar to Wings, but do I want both? Yes. It's like laundry detergent and magic and 1995. I picked up a dress I'd worn with it while getting clothes together, and it still smelled beautiful days later. Better than any of its flankers as well. A time capsule of sunshine to a childhood that didn't really exist for me, but one I like to visit just the same.

CamillaAre

I have a 100ml bottle bought in the late 90´s. It´s one out of two perfumes I owned up until 6 months ago when I became a frag enthusiast. For me, this just smells Eternity, it´s definitely an unique scent for me, and I can recognize it if someone wears it.

But now being a frag head and all, I need to dig deeper and see what notes I can smell: ) First there is citrus and there´s a lot of fresia going on. The patchouli is definitely there all along from the beginning, there's something peppery going on as well.

This is a beast mode perfume, 1-2 sprays are enough. Longevity on clothes for weeks. Sillage is mega: It stays in the room for hours and you can smell it when you enter even if you´re currently wearing it. I have to be careful not to overspray! I get compliments with just 1-2 sprays.

I don´t feel it´s dated but maybe people think so because of its uniqueness and their memories of it? I only wear this when I want to feel nostalgic.

jil489

It's a sweet, fresh woody fragrance suitable for the office, wedding and daily wear. The notes are well blended and I can't distinguish any particular note. The scent feels timeless and I can see this as a signature scent.

churinl

I just want to point out something about how this was initially marketed. Eternity was introduced in the late 80s, so it maintains that "everything but the kitchen sink" approach used to create the big and bold creations one associates with that decade. It followed the great success of Obsession, which as the name suggests, was all about marketing it as a passionate, dangerous perfume of, well, obsession.
By the end of the 80s, the excesses of the decade were beginning to take there toll as the AIDS epidemic was ravaging the world and people began to realize that cocaine was not the innocuous party drug it was once thought to be. When the stock market crashed, it was almost as if someone declared that the party was over and it was time to go home, sober up, and become a responsible adult.
Enter Eternity, which through the power of marketing was presented as the polar opposite of Obsession. As the name suggests, this was all about commitment, monogamy, family, and purity. If someone smelt the original version today, my guess is that they would not guess that a fragrance this potent would have once been considered a return to "family values" and all that implies. Though much different than the freshies that dominated the 90s, the concept definitely ushered in that era. The rest, as they say, is history!
I know this isn't a review, but I thought it might be interesting to younger perfumistas to understand the history of the fragrance and how either marketing defines the zeitgeist or vice versa!

BigBobRoss

Clean fresh floral scent with a hint of sweetness from the citruses, very synthetic and dated but the scent itself is not bad...

Great for the summer and cold sunny days

Longevity and sillage above average

cm66

Not sure about today's version but the scent of this off my girl back in the day would put me In a trance!

JeffreyB

I fell hard for Eternity when it was launched in 88. It’s changed too much over the years but the original formulation can still be found on eBay, I recently snagged myself 4 one ounce parfum splash bottles. Skip today’s version, go straight to the vintage.

Anand PA

I noticed the freesia right away. It seems as if it work well in the office because I don't find anything seductive or sensual about it. I notice that a number of people people have used the word unisex in their descriptions. To me it seems much too floral for that. (Then, perhaps, some men like to wear floral colognes.) What astounds me is that 18 (!!) fragrance notes are listed! 18?! They certainly come together nicely in "Eternity" to create a unique scent. Perhaps I am something of a purist, but I really prefer perfumes with fewer elements so that I can choose those in which my favorites stand out. I was searching for carnation and came across this one. It is included as a fragrance note, but, with the 17 others I can't find it. I just purchased a vintage 1/4 oz. bottle of "Belodgia" by Caron. (Extrait.) Now THERE'S carnation!

kareninthevalley

It's absolutely fine for a popular pre-millenium scent. Not FBW for me, because it doesn't excite me, but it doesn't offend and i don't have any sideffects from the fragrance despite it being the strongest thing i currently own. I feel it's blended well and throws off a nice scent for everyday wear that's kept from being too floral by the green and sage notes. Simply put, i lean towards refined, or more subtle. This definitely feels 80s/90s to me.

Phantomias

There are so many reviews of this scent that I can't add anything new. Eternity is beautiful, easy to wear and IMO, unisex. I love it.

To Sapienta..... ETERNITY is a beautiful fragrance... classic. Don't say things like " you wonder why it is still in production ". Thisperfume holds a very special place in my heart for many reasons. Don't like it ... then move on.

Sapienta

I always think twice before writing "bad" review. But than again, perfumes make poetry..
Never understood appeal of this fragrance. I remember it from nineties.. Eternity was always worn by regular boring girls. Its not repulsive or bad, it's just incredibly monotonous and flat. How it is still in production I will never ever understand

brvndxn

Something about this reminds me of Iris 39

Jeanne de Valois

This is a beautiful scent - fresh and flowery with just a hint of peppery, herby, spiciness which stops it from being too sweet or screechy.
The first spray envelops you in a cloud of fresh flowers with a sparkling trail of loveliness. The drydown is exquisite, leaving you with a sweet and feminine skin scent. All in all a beautiful classic fragrance which firmly has a place in my top 5 of all time.

ShaLion

I remember long ago spritzing this one once and being overwhelmed by spice. I was young and impatient and this was not for me. I’m older now. I understand that some things take time to develop and bloom. A lot of perfumes these days start out promising something beautiful upon initial spray that they can’t really deliver and they end up drying down all so very similar to each other… this is not that. In fact, this one is quite the opposite.
Coming back to this one -without a need for instant gratification- I really like it!
For me the initial spray spills everything out on the table. It’s thick humid dark green & deep spices heavy in cloves and pepper. It’s messy & almost masculine. It begins to settle on my skin giving a clearer view. What I thought was cloves and pepper shines brighter as sage and carnation. All the spicy carnation- to the point were I laugh at thinking it was anything else. It’s warm and spicy. Almost tickles the back of my throat- but pleasantly. Here it stays for a while. A creamy under layer of amber and heliotrope slowly soften the sharp peppery edges of the carnation. The musk is warm. The lilies begin to shine.
The way that this unfolds is captivating. What I smell from a distance smells nothing like what I get when I bury my nose to my skin. The cloud surrounding me is creamy vintage floral- when I get closer it’s spicy carnations.
It’s a shapeshifter. Not an easy reach or a blind buy. But gorgeous on days when you want to change it up a bit, keep things interesting & add some spice to your soapy florals.

corgi02

I just got a sample after many years. It smells different. I smell incense. Too sweet. Not what I remember.

Yessamin

An alluring, charismatic freshness of freesia, mandarin, lily of the valley, patchouli and musk.

EdP. Is a bestseller

unicorn1

Eternity is a classic, one that I was happy to revisit and buy a big bottle of! I adore the smell and it is, at least on me, a powerhouse of a perfume! It lasts a long time and is a very clean and fresh smell. It is a welcome addition to my otherwise sweet or spicy perfumes. I wish I could smell the individual notes like a lot of others do but I can't, I just know that all together it is a gorgeous scent.

Lady Nightshadow

On my skin, Eternity gives a fresh, "clean bedsheets" vibe, maybe because it's a bit soapy and floral, but fresh and citrusy at the same time. Light green is the color that I would associate with this scent.
It develops in a lemony dry fragrance, where I fail to detect the flowers anymore. It's true that Eternity is so fresh that it becomes pungent, almost bitter.

I can see why Calvin Klein decided that this represented love, family and peace, as it's a really bright, pure scent, extremely idealized.
Eternity does not represent the people involved in these values, nor the little things that make these values real.

It's quite a polarizing fragrance: either you like it or you don't, it's difficult to be neutral to it.
I really wouldn't mind it in an aftershave, or as a male fragrance, but I fail to appreciate Eternity as a feminine scent, especially on myself. Unfortunately, it reminds me of (high quality) cleaning products for clothes.

truffles

I'm mystified by the love for Eternity. I know perfume is a subjective thing but I can't detect anything of the stated notes or any positive description in the smell.
To me, it just smells like a one note weird chemical assault. Nothing floral, nothing natural.
I used to work with a woman who wore it and it filled the lab we worked in, totally overbearing.
I'm not a 'troll', I have pretty old fashioned perfume tastes, in general, so I'm not accusing Eternity of being 'mature' or anything like that, I don't even get 'powdery', I'm sorry I just think it's horrible!
How it relates to marriage or fidelity is again, mystifying.
Eternity is probably my top all time perfume swerve, along with Cool Water, the tall Issey Miyake, and Kouros - yuck.

EmmaMartha

I actually really like this perfume. During my late teens and early 20s I wore this a lot. It's clean, fresh and is suitable for work, college ect. I don't feel it smells powdery at all. I always keep a bottle as it's my husbands favourite perfume of mine.

Ash212

Oh you guys are some haters! This is so fresh and clean and green. I've definitely smelt it before as its popular....just seems to get a lot of hate online. I dont think this is outdated or mature at all. In my 20s and this is exactly what I needed. Clean, sharp, smooth and powerful! Sweet just isnt me ;)

Compostflower

At first sniff I was not a fan it smelled like a bomb of powder and nothing else was detectable. Once it settled in after a few minutes it was very nice a light soft bed of flowers after spring rain (maybe roses). After an hour I started getting the spice and the patchouli still can smell the roses though. All in all this is a good scent and I normally HATE powdery scents but in my opinion the powder does not stick around long. For me this scent reminds me of this natural perfume I once bought from a small creator called ghost of the Knoxville girl. Smells like roses after rain with a pinch of spice. Very light and not offensive I got this for Christmas and thought I would dislike it ( I’m in my twenties and love strong scents) but I do enjoy this.

RH2ME

When I first received this perfume as a gift, I was taken aback by the strong green notes that hit me immediately. My initial impression was not favorable, and I was a bit hesitant to continue using it. However, as it dried down, the fragrance transformed into something truly beautiful and refreshing.

One of the standout features of this perfume is its impressive sillage - it has a strong projection and can last all day. As I continued to use it, it quickly became one of my favorites, especially during the winter months when I often layered it with a warm fragrance.

Interestingly, I also found that it worked well when paired with a soft floral scent during the spring and summer. This combination garnered many compliments, and I was frequently asked about the fragrance I was wearing. Overall, I'm very happy to have this perfume in my collection and highly recommend giving it a chance despite its initially strong green notes.

melusina1982

A potent soapy floral that lasts and lasts.
Even though it is very recognizable it is still unique. Yet another Sophia Grosjman's masterpiece.

Perfumatrix

Eternity is a pleasant if generic floral. It's crowd-pleasing, easy to understand, not "too" anything, nothing surprising, "strong" or offensive. Good for a female who has classic, soft, spring-floral sort of taste in perfume, or who needs an office scent on the femme side. It's pretty, easygoing, smells great, and is the sort of thing you would wear to an Easter family gathering, brunch, the office barbecue, or a casual date. You would gift it to your boyfriend's mum for Mother's Day, or your 15-year-old niece for Christmas, and you'd get good reactions back. I might wear it once in a while, but only in an environment where I wanted to blend in, be a lovely-smelling "nice lady" who has Family Values, and be taken for a lot less dangerous than I am.

Friends, please be aware that there are trolls on Fragrantica too . . . people who post fake reviews to try to ruin other peoples' pleasure in their perfume collections. These people make absurd, outlandish claims that the perfume--the more classic and enjoyed, the better--actually smells like something disgusting (or something you would never want to smell like): urinal cakes, tar soap, plastic dolls, vomit, sandwich condiments, wet dog, breakfast cereal, cleaning solvents, and so on. They hope that once you read their nonsense, you will lose your joy in your treasured scents, and you will smell what they have suggested, instead.

Best to react to those losers with the yawns they deserve . . . .

Kuty22

Another blind buy 🙈
This time - no joy 😂
Positives:
The bottle is pretty, nice spray, lasts a long time, pretty affordable.
Cons:
On my skin it's totally unisex(I prefer typical feminin scents). Eternity smells like Nivea lotion and soap, not Dove soap, rather Marseilles soap bar (to wash clothes), I'm gonna give it to my fiancé, he won't even notice it's for women 😏
I have Eternity Moment and I love it

jeissi

It is a "cold" floral scent.
It lasts A LOT on clothes and has good longevity on skin.
PS my cat likes it 😂

Goofy79

Eternity has now been watered down so much that it is an INSULT against Sophia Grojsman...!!! It is now one of the weakest perfumes out there. There is no way I can justify for eternity any more 😡🤬

SmellyDog

Vintage esque white floral with great sillage. If ever anyone comments they tell me i smell very clean. My grandmothers staple fragrance so very dear to my heart. Stunning.

ParisLoveXo

Got a sample of this today and I sprayed it on my wrist . First thing i said was this reminds me of something … Paris by YSL . strong vintage floral which I love but it’s very similar to me . The difference I would say is this one has sage in the opening which it turned me off but it fades quickly leaving Paris by YSL smell .

Eva Behari

Some days ago passing through the corridors of hotel Radisson in Danmark where i work i saw a beautiful elegant woman who happened to be an actress a very well known actress in Danmark. I was staring at her all admiration but what really took my breath away was her perfume! Thats how it smelled on her. Cut fresh spicy rose! Her perfume filled all the corridor. What a beautiful scent was that! I did everything on my power to find out what was that unforgetable scent. And it was this one. How beautiful can smell a very common scent if really suits on your skin... And on her suits perfectly!!

elsekymeky

Got it for my wife as a gift, it blasts very strong from 1st spray, takes you back to the old retro old days, after 2 minutes, it'll show you the beautiful smiley smell of florals, which will add a smile to your face and fades away in a nicer smell the longer the time pass.
Good for Casual and Formal occasions.
Surprisingly good for teenagers and adults as well

Strong Sillage and Longevity

Miasha

Many years ago, I heard a lot about Eternity, how lovely it was. And I made a "picture" in my head, how I thought it smelled. So, after a long time, I finally got to the perfume store, and I tried it on for the first time. But I was so surprised, and so disappointed!! Because to me, this smelled only like terpentine..!
Stunned, I walked out again, wondering if my nose was wrong. So, within a couple of years, I decided to try again: but it was really the same. Terpentine.
Amazing.

P.S. As I read the comment below: not to my nose, any likeness with Versace Woman. Because that one I really love - I have bought and used up several bottles.

MiniMena

Bought a pack of 4 Calvin Klein perfumes and this was one of the perfumes. It's really nice. To my nose it smells very similar to Versace Woman.

paranoka

I have a big soft spot for this fragrance as it's one of my mom's favorite perfumes. Normally I'm not a big fan of powdery notes so it's not something I'd wear every day, but the powdery notes are not at the forefront. It's a lot more green and floral with the powdery as a backdrop. For me it smells like fresh cut flowers and skincare.

melanie mother or foxes

I remember when this came out. Everybody and their auntie wore it.
I had one friend who it smelt not bad on but otherwise it make me want to vomit. 🤢🤮.
I dunno what note is was doing this but I swear it burnt my nostrils.
I have tried to revisit since then but alas, same effect. To my nose this is vile.

irisauraes

Eternity is quite a neutral scent in my opinion. It's nice and I like it but it lacks the special something that would make me wanna grab it often. I'm kind of torn on the longevity; I smelled it a few hours ago and couldn't smell anything but now I smelled again and I can smell a little of it. Sillage is moderate but not super strong, which I like. I would consider it unisex, it's kind of feminine but I'm sure a man could pull it off too.
Overall a very pretty, neutral scent.

Dancer_kr

Horrible!! I’ve never smelt such a synthetic perfume before. I just get this weird screechy white floral mixed with the smell of burning tires. This is too sharp for me! I just cannot make it work:(
If you’re looking for a floral bouquet of perfumes, check out eternity now which is way better in this line or save your money and get smth even better. Calvin Klein quality has really gone down!!

DolceX_X

Smells like you took a shower and used a white flower lotion, that's really it. L'occitane makes better floral scents and I'll stick with them. This just gives me a headache, and I would stay away from anyone that this is their signature scent. This is very much a scent that I'd imagine you'd wear to Sunday church. It's a safe scent that I feel a lot of moms would wear, no hate, I know this is a classic scent many love. It just makes me nauseous, and there's SO many better warm white flower scents out there that aren't synthetic smelling...

Mc1995

Truly one of the greats. Perfectly pretty fragrance. It’s floral, powderey, spicy, green and fresh. This is a style I hope comes back into fashion. Not just a green, or floral or aquatic. Something that has depth and is all of the above. This is perfectly timeless. It smells classic but not exactly vintage. The green freshness keeps it from being an overly loud floral. Perfect staple in anyone’s collection I’d say. The ads for this fragrance of Christy Turlington with the child are exactly what this fragrance smells like, beauty, safety and warmth.

Peaches77

Light clean floral scent. Reminiscent of the air after a spring rain. I think it’s okay just not what I’m looking for.

I decided to buy a few vintage fragrances and this is one of the ones that I chose. I got an old bottle from ebay. It said made in the USA so I assume I got the older stronger one. Sheesh! A few sprays are all you need for a long day of wear. This thing is nuclear! I have a bit of a problem in that I hate cloves and the carnation here does resemble cloves, but even though I do not like this scent, it is so interesting. It's cold and soapy yet warm and spicy too. To me this definitely smells vintage in that it doesn't smell of right now, but that's a good thing. I really enjoyed trying this and seeing what the fuss is about but it's not for me and my bottle has now found a new loving home elsewhere.

NorthCountryNik

I had to ask a coworker what they were wearing because I could tell when they were around and their perfume was an instand headache. They said, "Eternity." That's how long it lasts. I hate any patchouli fragrance but this one is an instant migraine trigger for me.

Rosa5964

I should love this. I love florals, and I like almost all scents. Most things smell good on me. (At least to me!)

I get--ammonia. That's it. Ammonia. Beginning, middle, and end. NO floral of any kind. No sweetness. Total sharp ammonia. I had to scrub like crazy to get it off, too.

Horrible. Throwing it away I guess.

amberwaves

Incredibly fresh, very green almost to the point of bitterness. White petals and pale green stems. It is crisp and proper and rather serious in its beauty. there’s a certain dignity to this scent that I believe is part of why it often gets called “mature”. It’s because it is not playful and it does not prioritise sweetness or even accessibility. which for some may seem incongruous with the concept of love but I understand what is being said with this fragrance.

we know this scent was created to represent a marriage, or rather the ideal of marriage and what it represents and as a conceptual fragrance I find it very successful. I like the choice of representing love as being steadfast and serious, beyond sweetness and frivolity, something earthy and immortal. This is a milestone fragrance, something to grace important days and events both joyous and sad. While it would naturally be appropriate for a wedding or an anniversary, there is something in its solemnity that is almost funereal. It makes me think of beautiful white mourning flowers. Lilies and casket satin. As odd as it may sound I believe this only adds to the romance of this fragrance, but more on that later.

On my skin the sharp soapy cleanness starts off loud, but quickly settles itself. If it works with your chemistry it will find the right volume before you leave the house as long as you don’t overspray. The bottle itself has quite a far and wide spray to it, something that reaches a sizeable patch of skin when held far enough away, but can spit uneven droplets when sprayed too close so make sure to familiarise yourself with its range otherwise you could end up with more than you intended in one spot.

Although it is by no means the defining characteristic of this fragrance it is not without some sweetness. Its an element that emerges within the first hour once it warms on your skin but its not a transformation of the initial scent but a rounding off of its sharp edges. To me this symbolises the initially daunting concept of eternity with another person suddenly seeming possible, a realisation that commitment, fidelity, and a lifetime together are something you want and something you’re determined to have. The softening of the scent makes me think of an older, dignified couple stealing a moment together and remembering they’re still the same sweethearts they used to be.

this is a very thematic fragrance with a bold name that it somehow manages to live up to. It’s not a people pleaser, it has a conviction that doesn’t bend to what’s popular or expected or easy. This isn’t infatuation or a crush, it’s not an idea of love that everyone can relate to. This isn’t a happily ever after either, the solemnity I mentioned earlier quietly acknowledges a morbid reality inherent in spending the rest of your life with someone. It’s til death to us part.

There’s a quote by Joanna Newsom about her own marriage that I feel sums up the concept of this fragrance perfectly:

“When I crossed that line in my mind where I knew I was with the person that I wanted to marry, it was a very heavy thing, because you’re inviting death into your life. You know that that’s hopefully after many, many, many, many years, but the idea of death stops being abstract, because there is someone you can’t bear to lose. when it registers as true, it’s like a little shade of grief that comes in when love is its most real version. Then it contains death inside of it, and then that death contains love inside of it.”

I have been meaning to try Eternity for ages! It is a big soapy floral that smells a bit like nail polish remover for the first 5 minutes or so. Definitely reminds me of the 90s. Fresh, clean and unpretentious but definitely not for me!

uno

My old bottle smells sharp green floral, but new one I got last month smells soapy fruit. Disappointed.

la.femme.scent

Spicy floral, prominent carnation flower note with powdery accords. It smells nice but generic, however it turns into this metallic smell on my skin that is awful, so for that reason, it's a dislike.

A little outdated but also a fine line of classic, but I can't see just anyone wearing this. I imagine someone like Pheobe Bouffet from earlier episodes of Friends wearing this, someone with her style from that time. Very early 90's. Wouldn't blind-buy.

'Saudade" is how I would describe Eternity in one word. If it was music, it would be some melancholic synthwave instrumental. A scent that is strangely static, ambient and nostalgic. It speaks volumes just by lingering and triggers profound thought of lost happiness, unknown whereabouts, what ifs and acceptance of fate or overwhelm for what is to come.
The perfume holds a special place in my heart due to being true to its title, as Eternity is a universal context yet abstract in definition. I was surprised to learn it was specifically created to convey wedding vows, when i could only asosciate it with longing for times bygone. In a more literal approach, other reviewers have attributed eternity to the timelessness of the composition. In all cases, its vague asosciation with the concept of time makes the perfume all the more successful. For me, a perfume that evokes any feeling is a good perfume and it that regard, Eternity is a true piece of art in the way it speaks and delivers its message clearly. Now, I could have written a less lyrical review but honestly, this thing was a whole experience for me and just listing notes and lasting power wouldn't do it justice. After all, that part has been abudantly covered in other reviews.

tomato18

Soapy and floral. I don’t love this on me but it’s my grandmother’s signature scent so it’s near and dear to my heart.

dunder988

It is a very nice perfume, I don't see why people don't like this. At first sprits, you get this banana-like sweet scent that develops into an expensive bar soap. I don't know the sillage, but the longevity is long as it has stayed on my jacket for the longest time. I might buy this, unsure though as this banana scent kinda ruins for me. I love the flowery bar soap feel though

signatureNOSE

Sharp, soapy fragrance. Not for me.

Had this tester for a while.

OPENING: Very synthetic, in essence - you get what you pay for. However, even most cheaper fragrances are not like this. The opening is also very pervasive and long-lasting, the sharpness outstays its welcome in my opinion.

DRY DOWN: Because of how sharp the soapy note is, it's hard to imagine getting used to this on my skin. Unsurprisingly, the dry down is significantly better than the opening but still too much for me, and many others I can imagine.

CONCLUSION: I was surprised to hear that both of my brother's liked this fragrance, but still I wouldn't suggest blind-buying this fragrance, definitely worth the time to test it out and then go from there :)

EDIT: family members could smell this from the other side of the house, YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED.

TREVRmusic

Gorgeous but incredibly weak as most designer freshies are. Save your money and look elsewhere imo!

I can’t believe that I slept on Eternity all this time. I guess that it just became too commonplace after the 80’s for a lot of us 90’s kids. For millennials, it’s safe to say that we all knew someone who wore this. Whether it was your mother, sister, aunt, teacher, neighbor, etc. You absolutely encountered someone somewhere that wore this when it was really popular. And for the people who wore the original formulation at the height of its popularity, this has left some residual impression on your soul and you undoubtedly have so many memories attached to this fragrance. It is that memorable, like the Seinfeld finale episode. I have just started building my collection so when a lot of people kept recommending Eternity as a standout enduring favorite, all I kept thinking about was this emoji: 😬. That is my own fault and bias. I really believed because it’s over thirty years old that it must be old-fashioned, too heavy, overwhelming, yada yada yada. Not the case.

I have really been consistently impressed with CK as a whole. The only one that I could feasibly associate as a “fail” would be Truth but I am still holding out hope for that one because it is in fact growing on me the more I use it. I own and really enjoy Eternity Now. It is one that I want to return to. Although I can see the resemblance of the original in that flanker, they are noticeably different. Ain’t nothing like the real thing, baby.

From previous reviews, I deliberately hunted down a bottle that was made in the US. It’s been stated that European versions lean more masculine and greener while the US versions are interpreted as more feminine and sweeter. It’s also my understanding that this has been reformulated. To me, Current versions are softer but not weaker.

That first spray was purely Robitussin. I was getting flashbacks to having a cold as a child and battling my gag reflex as my mom forced the spoonful of it down my throat. Granted, not the best introductory association I have had with a fragrance. But this develops like a Polaroid photo! Murky at first but eventually it comes together. Within about 20 minutes, the supremely bitter notes felt mostly from heliotrope, jasmine and carnation begin to merge with the freesia and citrus to create something more refreshingly beautiful. The medicinal edge remains a little longer but I think it contributes a fascinating, modern edge. Within an hour, the ultimate impression is a little powdery, a bit sweet/soapy, a little spicy/peppery, a little musky, a little green, and a smidge lacteal. Eternity is truly a diamond of several facets. I completely understand why this fragrance was created to be a testament to love. If you scrutinize every mundane detail, you are unable to conceptualize the broader sensibility. When I wear this, I can’t help but feel like I am under a haze of wonder. It really does boost my mood! I immediately wanted to wear it the very next day and that signified something special as I get bored easily. There are so many ordinary elements being put together in a unique way. It remains simplified without ever becoming boring.

I love that the sprayer is built into the lid/top. The bottle design itself depicts the overall minimalism aesthetically. The longevity is way above average. Some of my more expensive fragrances pale in comparison. The sillage stays pretty close to the skin but it’s still noticeable when you move. It just creates a cool and casual ambiance wherever you go. It’s a classic and still selling today for good reason.

Kikichaaan

I bought this for my mom birthday last year. She was so happy because this is the first perfume given by my late father to her. Eternity is very memorable for both of us so we decided to wear it together in the rememberance of my late father.

On my mother it smells so pretty, while on my skin the only thing that I got are that green notes in the opening and a strong powdery scent. I'm quite sad this doesn't really work with my body chemistry.

Lalouve<3

There is sth sickly sweet and herbal and spicy in this one, that just makes me cringe especially if I smell it closely on my skin. These notes clash together and compete with the (mostly) white florals and carnation thrown in there for good measure.Yes, I am being sarcastic.

Not well blended, it is mostly masculine than unisex (even though it is advertised for women), it makes me pucker up in distaste.

Most definitely not a safe buy.Thankfully I own a tester vial of this one, cause had I actually bought it blindly, I would have cried in frustration and hurled it out the window. Phew!

VargaZsuzsanna

I was in my jate teens when it came out and I liked and wanted it with a passion but we were rather poor. I counted myself lucky when I could buy deodorant, there was no hope for parfume. Fast forward 20+ years: a few months ago I saw it in an online parfume shop and bought it without hesitation. Another thing from my bucket list ticked off. And it was worth the long years of waiting, I treasure every drop of Eternity. It is fresh, green and crisp, but well balanced with the flowers, the spicy and earthy tones. I enjoy it in spring and summer, below 20 C it is coldish and there is something a little bit bitter (carnation?) about it. The longevity is impressive, on my skin it last eternally (haha). The sillage is perfect, the parfume surrounds me exactly as I like. I wouldn't call it outdated or oldish, it is just different from the now fashionable fragrances thanks God because nowdays most of the frags are too sweet for my taste.

Adina Galani

I can see why this is likeable. Flowery, clean, lovely. I unfortunately don't really do lovely fragrances, but this one is my little secret. Reminds me of Ming Su, from Yves Rocher, one can see that vibe, don't know though who was first. It surely is a beauty and it definitely is not common anymore in 2021, thanks God, that makes it even more wearable. I reach for my sample more in spring/summer as it is a beautyful bouquet of inocent white blossoms.

echurch1979

Gather around post millennials, or whatever other branding we all somehow relate to now. I will tell you a story of the early nineties, and how, at one point, the whole world seemed to smell of Eternity. Don't ask me to explain how this took place; there are some things we are not meant to understand. Just know, that the atmosphere exuded these chords, as if they were played on a loud speaker that percussed the world entire. The perfume itself is quite lovely, and it is also a Grojsman production, which more often than not, means I'll favor it. It starts with an ambiguous floral presence, verdantly sweet, with naive freshness. Youthful and bright; sunshine radiating from with in. Herbaceous and earthy, as we transcend to the heart, and the once closed buds of jasmine, rose and freesia, stretch open and maturate with the new hopeful confidence of youth, expressed in humble wisdom. Various floral chords develop continuously and enhance the natural sweetness of the start. Earthy candor is found amongst powdery flowers, gone dry with length of blume, and ready, with a paper like texture, to scatter their loveliness to the breeze. It's all too simple to read the press release and know it was designed to capture the infinity of love as it relates to marriage. But as a mother, a daughter, a sister, and friend, I can assure you Eternity transcends contractual unions, by extending the matrix of proclaiming adoration for anyone. Only Ms. Sophia could capture such an allegorical expression of life, and transform it into a profoundly universal concept. So maybe there was good reason to douse the planet in this stuff. Maybe it also serves to transport us into this realm of love. A loving force that is infinite and unconditional. It becomes haunting in a way, because aren't we all looking for that very thing!

Siducyrian

This perfume right here... Oh my! My love goes far back with this one. I was lucky enough to be in my tween and teens when some of the power house perfumes came out. Paloma Picaso, Obsession, Poison and Eternity. Eternity is my signature scent... Always has been and always will be. It's perfect year round and wears great day and or night. Still today I get those nostalgia feels. Amazing how scents and our senses in general can stir up memories and take us back in time. I get the green notes more than anything from this perfume. There are simply so many notes it is hard to differentiate individual ones. It is purely earthy. Everything of the earth in this one fragrance. Strong and bold, which gives it a wonderful sillage as well as longevity. Not all the best fragrances have to cost you and arm and a leg. You'll be pleasantly surprised with this fragrance; especially considering the price.

ntlzhng

This is my mom's go-to perfume and has been sitting in her medicine cabinet for years. The power of smell is so incredible – this perfume brings back memories of formal events that gave my mom the occasion to give herself a little spritz. I had never properly tried to identify its notes – it just immediately conjures up mom for me. In the past, it smelled very synthetic to me, but in a way that was pleasant. It's grown-up but not too grandma-like. Now when I take a close whiff, I get dewdrops, green leaves, and a mixture of crisp, clean white flowers, with jasmine sticking out the most for me.

moonsunstars

Oh wow - I wish I had given this perfume a chance sooner. This is absolutely beautiful. An aromatic floral that is still easy to wear. Upon first spray I can definitely detect the sage on my skin, as well as mandarin orange. The green notes are definitely not loud, and the florals are blended so well together. It’s gotten a touch sweeter the longer it’s been on my skin, and I can sense the Carnation trying to make its presence known - Overall, Eternity is a fresh fragrance. Though I’m a man who is already comfortable wearing fragrances marketed towards Women, I do actually find this could be marketed as Unisex. I definitely see myself purchasing a full size bottle. Signature scent worthy!

yu_sigao

The green note is evident when this perfume is first sprayed. However, it doesn't dissipate and instead persists and competes with the white florals in this perfume. It comes off to me as poorly balanced and blended.

Moreover, it's overwhelming. This might be a personal thing but it seems to trigger an allergic reaction from me when other perfumes don't. An unpleasant experience.

But if you like the scent, you're in luck because I found it very long lasting.

This comes off as a spring and summer scent to me, something classy to wear to a daytime event.

VioletOrchid

Polarizing one... the scent made me cringe. Let me explain, the scent of carnation here is very strange and overwhelming because it invades your nose whether or not you’re ready. I personally never wore it after testing it. My sister, however, absolutely loved it. She is also someone who is extremely picky with perfumes.

NOT a safe blind-buy imo

DragonDonuts99

My very first designer love. An oriental darling full of sweet woods, lasts forever. I feel like both the male and female versions of this are unisex, the male version being more aquatic.

Sweet woods, full of floriental sweetness.

JasminePetal

It's beautiful, but it's too green for my personal taste. The green notes seem to overpower everything else for me and kind of prickle my nose when smelling it. Also I guess it reminds me of other people wearing it, probably because it is quite the classic. It's not that I dislike it, but it's like a beautiful dress that looks great on someone else, but the style just doesn't match your own vibe.

Alex Fragrantomaniac

One of the last of Sophia Grojsman's (big fan!) I had yet to sample, Eternity came across as a very screechy, musky-green, uber-synthetic floral. It does feel like a breath of fresh air after the 80s, but is, paradoxically, saturated to the point it feels more cloying than its predecessors to which it took stand.

Admirable for the bony, solid structure, it suffers the curse of its notoriety - from my generation's perspective (born in the new millennium), it does not escape being dismissed as merely the functional scent of soap, laundry detergent... - similar to what happened to Tommy Girl.

Still, an interesting unnaturally spiced lily, intended for world domination!

emi

Very nice powdery fresh floral, I get lily the most with kind of a cherry vibe. Not literal cherry but the echo of it. It's nice and timeless. Very modern floral. Longevity is good but on me it stays close to the skin(I got the newest formulation).

mypoison

I was gifted a bottle of Eternity when I was a kid in the 90s. I hated it and never wore it. I kept my bottle thinking I might like it when I grow up. Nope - still cannot stand it. I even hate it on others. The only thing I love about it is how unique it is. It would make a great signature scent.

perfumesniffer

Eternity was unbelievably groundbreaking when released. It became The Scent Genre for the 90’s. If I close my eyes and inhale Eternity I can see flashes of Seinfeld, Frasier, The Simpsons and Friends. Kate Moss heroine thin. Bill Clinton. Monica Lewinsky. Anita Hill. Twin Peaks, The X-Files, Desert Storm, Princess Diana and Rodney King. OJ Simpson. Monochromatic. Nirvana, Pearl Jam, I’m screaming Jagged Little Pill at the top of my lungs in my VW Passat. (LOL)

It’s weird that Eternity and Angel were THE scents of the 90’s like polar opposite olfactory bookends. I started the 90’s wearing Eternity and ended them wearing Angel.

Objectively, Eternity is a great scent. It’s an abstract floral that’s wet and green. More aquatic and green/herbal than floral. Another one like this that I loved was Byblos. I cannot freaking believe the 90’s were so long ago. Damn!

Mrs.Kingsley99

I was conflicted at first, but I do like this scent. It has a definite powdery, patchouli quality that makes it feel a bit old, this is where my hesitation came from. However, the more I smelled it the more the powdery scent resembled a powdery floral/smarties candy kind of powder rather than like baby powder. It has a sharp floral that reminds me of the scent from a tea olive shrub which I LOVE. The more it settles, the less powdery and more brightly floral it becomes. A beautiful scent for a classic vibe. Mature for sure, but not "old". I am 21 and feel a bit bold to wear this kind of fragrance, I think it fits my age best on a warm night. I would not recommend for teens or college age individuals who are afraid of mature scents. This feels to me like a kind, confident woman in her mid-thirties or forties. Very womanly feminine scent, not girly or masculine even a tad. Great signature for any grown woman in my opinion.

LaContessina

Eternity is a classic.
And it still hits the shelves after 30 years from its birthday for a reason.
It's a very well blended flowery green, high on the fresia and with a green carnation that never bores. Other white flowers tht bring on a mellow warm comforting amber musk cozy drydown.

Not sweet, not gourmand not fruitchouli. What a refreshing choice (despite being of the Nineties!) given what we have nowadays...

That said, to me Eternity will always be linked to Rome (the Eternal city), because I bought my first bottle the first time I visited Rome in the nineties. I loved to think of the connection between the name of the perfume and the Eternal city.

I only disapprove that the fragrance has been copied so many times and is now commonly used in detergents, home fragrance and other industrial uses, making it cheap (but it's also a demonstration of the great popularity and appreciation this combination of notes had among the main public).
For that reason, over the years i grew a little tired of it and dismissed it.

In any case i just ordered a 100 ml bottle because i missed it and want it back in my staples' collection.

Yessamin

Eternity is one of the few fragances that I have that my husband has complimented on me. Given the amount that I own it is an absolute shame because I don't love this perfume.
Smells too green for my taste and later becomes like Sun Moon Stars which I own and still don't like either.
They must have seen each other's work certainly because I don't get why the smell so alike.
For eternity I only have a sample vial, thankfully.

JessTail

I don't know what it is but you just could not even pay me to wear this scent. I hated it right away. Has like a weird sharp metallic smell to me. Whatever it is, just does not work with my chemistry. I wouldn't even know how to describe this one. Everyone else is saying florals but to me it's not particularly floral, not sweet, not juicy. Maybe a little fresh? A little pepper? But yeah that metallic tang is just so weird to me. Will be giving away my sample of this one.

lyka

j'adore, frais comme s'il contenait de l'iris, mixte, très agréable et apaisant, note verte très présente. bonne tenue et sillage intéressant.
je lui donne 9/10; intemporel

medusa666

A perfume with its own signature. Although beautiful, it does have a melancholic aroma to it, it brings down energy, instead of uplifting it. Better worn in those dark felt days when emotions run low and wish to maintain them so..Not everyone wants to have their mood uplifted. Life is about all sorts of emotions anyway.

annxyz

Floral and green medley that is still well made in the 2021 formula . This is a classic and a bargain to boot because it is clean , balanced , feminine and versatile. I detect a slight hint of carnation and a hint of spice that is pretty subdued in general . Lovely perfume for a woman who is tired of smelling like a cupcake , marshmallow or twinkies . Best suited for an elegant woman .

sybilline

To me, this one smells like a photorealistic rendering of flowers. The green of the stalks, the almost-spicy, fresh edge of the petals. My grandmother's house smelled like this most of the time, she had bouquets from her garden chilling in vases in summer and spring. I was surprised by how prominent the marigold was, since it isn't a note in perfumes I see a lot, and I could sense it really clearly too. It brought back vivid memories of being a kid and stroking the marigold petals, making crowns from them. I think that's what sold me on Eternity smelling realistic, since it smells like real genuine marigolds. After it dries down a bit, it smells exactly like the water the flowers are put it, a little musty and stale(but not unpleasant!). It's certainly refreshing, and one of the only florals I can tolerate, because perfumes with intense floral notes sometimes make me nauseous. This one is just right for me, and being realistic, it often puts me in a flower market kind of mood, which is lovely on warm sunny days.

carlahoffman

My first Calvin Klein perfume which starts with a blast of the green notes and sage on me a spicy scent opening. Honestly not liking it a whole lot yet, it smells vintage. I grew up with so many vintages scents that I don't want to be around them anymore on me at least.

It's a low sillage skin scent for me which I don't have a need for I want scent, not having to stick my nose in my skin to see if my perfume is still there. It's would be good for people who work in a office or like light scents or want a vintage scent.

I really never caught much of the floral scents which was so disappointing for I love floral perfumes. Not every perfume is going to be work for everyone. I think I will be returning and getting my money back. Happy for the ladies that it did work for, so hoping that I would be one of them

bourcet

Does any other fragrance scream 90s WOMAN more than Eternity? The 1990s grown woman was divided amongst the careerist (Eternity) or the stay-at-home (Sunflowers). Which woman were you, or, which woman was your mother? Or was she, or you, both? The madonna/whore dialectic was shattered by Eternity; a bastion of femininity during a time when so much was changing about what it meant to be a woman. Eternity was floral without being too floral; universally wearable without the soapiness becoming forgettable; a cleanness that stayed with you rather than going down the drain. Did the drydown of this fragrance not fill every office in 1990? Only Sophia Grojsman could make carnations into something sexy instead of funereal.

Bluehonda

I put this on at 8am and thought meh...it didn’t smell like much. Pleasant and inoffensive, not too sweet or too floral, but just ok. Now it is 10 pm and I am getting ready for bed. And it smells wonderful. The top notes are long gone so all that is left are the base notes and it is just glorious. I don’t know how I never noticed this before. It’s a little spicy, a little mysterious, and still there after 14 hours.

Butterball

My all-time favourite perfume, the perfume that echos my soul, is Obsession. I seriously have 4 backup bottles of that, as I can't live without it. But my second favourite is Eternity. A robust, beautiful long-lasting white floral masterpiece. A snapshot of times gone by. An outlier among the crowd of modern confectionary perfumes. Thank you, CK, for not reformulating this into watery oblivion.

Yourmomgoestocollege

It's not listed in the notes...but I'm getting an absolute blast of clove.

Sweet flowers and clove and it reminds me of the taste of Beeman's Clove Chewing Gum?

This isn't what I expected, and it's very nice.

I don't know how I've lived this long without having tried any of the CK classics. (Just got a huge bottle of Euphoria, love it; Obsession, haven't tried it, but sprayed the air, and it's nice, seems very potent; and this one, which I'm finding clovier by the minute.) I really was expecting this to be a pleasant but somewhat basic, sweet floral. And nothing too unusual- but it's so unique and fresh and lovely!

I have more than 100 fragrances and I don't think any could be compared to this one, which happens less and less frequently these days. I am delighted!

Oddly, for as popular as this is, and as long as it's been around, I feel like I've never smelled this on anyone before...and the 90s were my teen and early 20s years. I was the demographic!

lulu169

if i had to chose only one perfume from all of my over 700 i own in my collection, it would be this - truly deserves its name. forever. never boring, never old fashioned

sommersne

I do not know if it is a reformulation or the european version that is a bit lighter but this is not as strong or sharp as other reviewers have claimed. On me it is a feminine lotion smell that reminds me of spring, summer and sunshine. It really smells just like an expensive lotion on my skin. Longevity was about 9 hours with the first 4 having some good sillage. I LOVED it and ordered a bottle :)

Butterball

@soft_spicy Absolutely love your review, and love Urge Overkill! Two completely different bands on the same bill. haha

Imen Reguei

i don't recommend it, the smell is very strong at the beginning, hate it on me. it becomes acceptable after hours when the smell lessens.. i bought it in a rush (as i have read many positive reviews about it) and now i regret it honestly..

JustRosy

This is so fresh, flowery and sweet but not in a sugary sense, it is the natural sweetness of flowers and nectar. This is just so pretty and I'm addicted.

moccacino

This product is so fresh, so pretty, so amazing, the Rose scent is what I get the most! It is very long lasting too! It is my favourite. The value is good.

FUTURISTIC & TIMELESS

RubyMe

This was my first ever designer perfume. Was gifted when I was very young. To me it's a nice fresh floral. I thought it was too mature for me at the time but I actually finished the entire bottle. It's a good scent. That's all.

y2daisy

I'll always love this perfume. I also love the fact that CK didn't reformulate this lovely long lasting perfume. Smells clean and sooo good. Why companys think to reformulate what is an outstanding perfume to a watered down version , I don't know. I use to love Georgio Beverly Hills now it's a shadow of it's former self. The oomph is gone and smells cheap, like many perfumes that are reformulated. Keep it original perfume companys.

This perfume reminds me when i was a kids, and i remember my mother
But i like this scent
Eternally and gracefull
I definitely repurchase when im done with a bottle that i have

Summer of 1989. HUGE hair, Aqua net hairspray,, REM blasting on the radio while my girlfriends and I get ready for the beach. First kisses and sneaking my moms Newport cigarettes.
This is still a bright, fresh, clean white floral carnation bomb with a clove spicyness that continues to attract or repel.
I love it.

cirkva_V

The carnation in this is a murderer.
I used to think I like carnations, guess I was wrong?
To me, it smells dated, sharp, soapy, overwhelming, and nauseating. Brough home the paper that I sprayed it onto (thought maybe the dry down was worth the wait), and the entire next day my living room had a powerful smell of carnations that gave me a headache.
Reminded me of childhood and having to go to church. There was always that one lady that would spray ~half a bottle of intense perfume before coming to the (small, overcrowded, and stuffy) church.
I believe she wore this on occasion.
I'm so surprised that so many people love it.

Eternity smells melancholic and almost identical to Sun Moon Stars by Karl Lagerfeld which perhaps that's why it was discontinued and was also made by the same perfumer..
Both wonderful fragrances. Eternity and Escape are CK's best.

During the first lockdown this spring I ordered a small bottle of Eternity online. It was made in USA and smelled gorgeous, a bouquet of well-blended white flowers mellowed to a yellow-floral brightness. I used it up quickly and bought a new bottle at our local perfumery (without testing again). This fragrance was made in Spain. It was a big disappointment when I used it the first time. The opening was harsh and chemical/metallic, the notes don't blend well and longevity is weaker. Does anyone else detect a difference between the American and European version of Eternity? The American version is much more beautiful! What a pity as I live in Europe...

Such a perfect classic.
The carnation in the middle is sometimes too much for me, but the green at the beginning and especially the drydown is heavenly.
Right now during Christmas time the cloves seem too suffocating for me (I don't want to smell like Christmas since it's already all around), but come January I'll put this baby to use again!

I’m currently wearing a sample of this - the full 2ml, I was expecting to be instantly transported back to my secondary school years but I think the fragrance has changed. (Which is not surprising - more than a couple of decades have passed by in the blink of an eye!) Eternity is now lighter (aren’t they all!), delicate and soapy with a white floral backdrop. It is pleasant and clean. Projection is soft. I like it, but it is veering towards boring when up against contemporary scents now on offer.
