Tabac Rose by BDK Parfums is a Amber Spicy fragrance for women and men. Tabac Rose was launched in 2020. The nose behind this fragrance is Julien Rasquinet. Top notes are Plum, Pink Pepper and Italian Lemon; middle notes are Turkish Rose, Chocolate and Cinnamon; base notes are Tobacco, Indonesian Patchouli Leaf and Spanish Labdanum.

"A dense and potent elixir that pays tribute to the most famous of all flowers used in perfumery. David Benedek chose to work with rose in a different manner in order to unveil its atypical facets. Tabac Rose is a fragrance that expresses textures, highlighting oriental and mysterious sensuality depicted in layers of pink, purple and plum shades. Opulent addictive tobacco, boosted by delectable plum and chocolate join forces with the majestic Turkish rose. IFF perfumer Julien Rasquinet brought contrast by adding spicy notes of pink pepper and cinnamon. The sweet voluptuousness is prolonged thanks to the deep and mystical notes of patchouli and labdanum." - a note from the brand.

It is a Gorgeous Fragrance, Elegant, Classy, Luxurious, Modern, Airy and Unique. I tried it in store and I received a sample of that yesterday. It smells so good and very pleasant, It reminds me of Turkish Delight ! It opens up with semi sweet fruity, citrusy, Spices and rose notes in the background then dry down is sweet warm spicy , ambery chocolate and tobacco vibe undertone. I really enjoy it and I love it. The Turkish Rose note is dominant in this perfume from the opening up to the dry down. Longevity is very good.
Two Thumbs Up.
Bravo BDK !

Loose Goose

Unique take on dark rose that uses tobacco instead of oud, makes it more fresh but less formal.
Great performance

Very simply stated first bottle was luxurious and smelled like a beautiful rose dipped in cocoa and spices and lingered beautiful on the skin.
Second bottle was sour like a pickle and offensive on the skin and I couldn’t stand it. Returned.

Tabac Rose opens with a burst of citrusy rose reminiscent of Atomic Rose by Initio and MFK's Oud Satin Mood, but as the citrus note leaves, the scent mellows down to a sweeter Oud Bouquet by Lancôme.

I was so excited to get a bottle after loving my vial. It's a chocolatey, jammy rose scent and I am here for it. Sometimes I get the plummy chocolate scent when I take a whiff of my arm, but sometimes I get a more woody note, almost like oud-like scent. It smells sweeter on skin than on my clothes. Expected Tabac Rose to project more, but the longevity is there.

Very decadent and I hope the juice in my bottle macerates and the chocolatey rose scent deepens into something darker and denser.

It's always interesting to see all the different takes on a fragrance here.

To me, this is heavy on the rose with incense and a little plum to start. The chocolate comes in for me after about 3-4 hours. The rose and incense are there the entire time.

It isn't as complex as something like Atomic Rose to me, but it is very good.

This scent went boozy on my skin. I couldn’t pick out tobacco or chocolate. Thankfully didn’t pick up lemon either. Beautiful smell. Enjoying the wiffs. No batch number found on this sample.

Pulled this one out for the first time in almost a year and wow. I remember liking it, but now it's a love. There's an addictive spice note that ties together the juiciness of the rose so perfectly. I highly recommend layering this with something creamy or powdery because it makes for a perfectly addicting combination.

S_Mazza

Wow. This fragrance is very much not a safe blind buy. What I imagined it would smell like and what it really smells like are quite far apart. The opening is very strong, sharp, vegetative, and rather sour - something like fresh cut tobacco, or almost like a pickle. There's rose in the background there, but it seems very fleeting. Once the rose goes away, the tobacco dominates for a long time. Hours later, the fragrance seems to have settled down into a balance. The rose is gone, the tobacco's edge is gone, and it's a pleasant and complex scent. But getting there is rather rough! I think I will stick with Tobacco Vanille, personally.

I’ve been wearing this the past couple days. I think it’s lovely but the name might be a bit of a misnomer. There’s no discernible tobacco. There’s a sweet, fruity and syrupy rose, a noticeable amount of spiciness, and a smooth creamy bed of ambery labdanum, dense chocolate and wood that is present the whole time but overtakes the rose in like hour 3 and soon becomes the dominant note. It lasts 6-8 hours and has moderate projection. It’s mature and sophisticated and for anyone that likes it.

glouis7

Smooth, silky, elegant, refined. Perfectly unisex. The opening hits you with a strong smell of baked fruit, within 15 minutes it goes away and it is replaced by the smell of some silky suede rose. On the dry down, you get the aroma of rich dark chocolate. Very pleasant, comforting, and warm scent. Good longevity.

Aleccsei

I tried this fragrance today for the first time.
The fragrance has a huge longetivity, but even after ca. 10 hours I still don't get any of the rose or fruit-notes. All I got from it was a combination of Tobacco and a lot of cinnamon. The Tobacco-note got cloying in the dry down and it reminded me of Tobacco Vanille by TF.

But maybe i'm the only one with this impression.

Peffrey

Great perfume for someone who wants to learn to appreciate pepper in fragrance. Not too harsh in the opening, and the pepper quickly dissipates within 20 minutes. Afterward, it transforms into an earthy, dry rose accompanied by a syrupy twist, probably the plum doing its thing.

Clws

This isn't an unusual combo - woody, tobacco, sweet, spicy, fruity rose - I mean most of us who buy a full bottle have tried a few perfumes with this profile looking for the one that we like/love. I have Oud Bouquet, it's good. A bit too sweet for me. I have the Boucheron one, not quite what I was looking for. Travel spray of the Penhaligon, again great fragrance, just didn't quite scratch my itch. Then I tried Tabac Rose and it all fell into place. My nose gets a creamy, sweet, spicy chocolate, plummy rose that has minimal tobacco. Just enough to give a nice cozy feel. It's perfect, lasts a long time and I do get compliments on this one. Who knows what makes this one work for one person and not another? But I'm really happy it works for me.

Angelic3432

Wow, that initial spray almost made this a scrubber. My first one after 180+ samples. I'm almost impressed. I got straight cigarette/rose but I've learned to wait and not judge a perfume immediately. Fortunately, that faded quickly and the fruit notes, primarily plum, replaced the tobacco/rose. Now it's better. I dont get chocolate unfortunately but I'll let it macerate a bit.

Edited 3/17/24 - After a few months, I still get a slight cigarette smell in the initial spray but it quickly went away into a fruity, rosy dry down that I enjoy. Increased the OK rating to a Like but out of my handful of BDK Parfums, this is my least fav. Glad I only have a sample of this.

Duskfall

Juicy syrupy sweet rose with chocolate and a touch of resins. Definitely more feminine. The tobacco is pretty much MIA, unless the slight bitterness in the opening is supposed to be it. Pleasant, almost adorable and so not "me". Nonetheless, one of the nicest rose scents I've encountered (typically not a fan of rose as a main player).

Kpluxe

I don't understand. Why does everyone else get a sweet rose with dates and chocolate while I get sour tobacco with a little rose and a little oud type woodiness? I'm going to keep playing with this and maybe my chemistry will adjust so that I can smell what others do, but for now this is sadly a scrubber.

I'm not a fan of a lot of BDK's line but I have to say this is a juicy beautiful rose with just the right undertone of tobacco. Beautiful! Worth the sniff!

This is rose Turkish delight in fragrance form.

Blending Perfection of a Tobacco Rose...

A gentle swirl of jam and cinnamon folded into chocolate whipped cream, that's piped into a chocolate eclair made by a smoking baker. This gorgeous spicy. voluminous, whipped rose & tobacco scent has a MiddleEastern leaning rose that has a jammy facet catalyzed by a touch of lemon and engorged by plum. As it transitions to the heart I get a chocolate-patchouli added to the mix, accented by cinnamon and soft tobacco. Tobacco here is mostly a soft tobacco smoke filtered through baked goods, that reminds me of a time when I was a kid and my parents would bring home Robin's Donuts from a shop that allowed smoking. This could be a chocolate eclair from that shop, with jam and a sprinkling of cinnamon.

In the long dry down, this gets sweeter, softer and more mellow from Spanish Labdanum which ties everything together in the base. The balsamic sweetness here is tilted to chocolate-y praline by the Indonesian patchouli leaf which also brings a faint & passing soapy note on the skin. I also get faint oud and saffron in the mix (not listed). Although it gets quite sweet, it's not a cloying sweetness, and reads unisex to my nose.

Overall, this isn't similar to anything I've smelt before, but when I first spray this, I do get a passing similarity to Shaghaf Oud Swiss Arabian and Oud Bouquet Lancôme, although Tabac Rose is less oudy, and more fruity, rose-jammy and spicy with cinnamon & tobacco. Performance is excellent for year round wear, but this will wear best in cooler months. It's a love for me. Enjoy!

I really don't like rose notes in my fragrances, especially the Turkish kind ,yet...here I am,loving Tabac Rose. What sorcery are you pulling on me bdk??
If you are like me,give this one a try 🙂
Everything else has been said before, enchanting smell, great performance, great quality overall ❤️.

Tabac Rose is what it says on the tin - a bold, smoky rose. I am a sucker for rose, and am always curious about creative ways in which this classic note is incorporated into perfume. TR is both much sweeter and smokier than I expected, but it lives up to its name - it features a boozy, jammy rose and lots of smokiness up top.

TR opens with a dense, smoky haze, tobacco-led from initial spray. It is dry and dark with a hint of peppery spice. Some dark cacao follows, adding rich, dark sweetness to the background, but it all gives way to a sweet plum note. I actually dislike it here - the syrupy plum alongside the smoke is kind of sickly to my nose. However, it improves and mellows as it progresses, its booziness enhancing the rose and balsamic amber base.

The rose at the heart of this scent is jammy and sweet, made even more so by the plum that lingers. It marries well with the rose and the balsamic amber base that underscores this scent. Cinnamon and chocolate add warm, sweet spice to the rose, all marrying together nicely with the smokiness that remains. A pinch of patchouli adds earthiness. It fades to a sweet musky skin scent with fruitiness and spice remaining until final fade. Sillage is strong and longevity is long-lasting - a little goes a long way. It is made for cold weather.

Despite its balsamic sweetness, this is a unisex rose in my opinion - dark and spicy in the Middle Eastern style. A creative take on rose, TR settles nicely after an uneven opening, making for a smooth, well-blended smoky-rosy-amber-spicy scent. 4/5.

Stunning! While everyone hypes Gris Charnel (which I don't really like), I personally find this and Tuberose Imperial worse the attention. This one is on another level: sexy, sweet, with character. It is not for every day, for me it is very special perfume that just makes me feel in my dark feminine energy. Definitely for the evening and cold weather.

IndefinitelyHenrik

Quite similar to Widian Baniyas, but spicier and half the price.

Seuni

I would have loved it if it wasn’t pungent and somewhat sulphuric upclose for about two hours.2-3 hours and it becomes a lovely tobacco chocolate

Im not a fan of rose perfume, but trust me, this is the must-have scent for any scent lover. Extraordinarily unique, ultimately seductive.

Eva Simone

Tabac Rose...hmm. First thoughts.....Deliciously unexpected. The first note on me...was sweet and tart, before I saw the notes, to me it smelled like passionfruit (I am guessing it is the plum and lemon combination). A few minutes in, the tartness begins to fade and I begin to smell rose and chocolate and the beginnings of the tobacco note. The dry down is very smooth...sweet tobacco, rose, chocolate, labdanum...faint cinnamon and patchouli, in this order. A nice twist on the Rose/Tobacco combination. This is very sexy, unisex, but on me feminine leaning. The feel is classy jazz club, uptown, sweet cigarette smoke in the air, martinis and old fashioneds, black leather pants, silk blouse and Ruby Woo red lip. This woman is not conceited but confident, sexy and polished. She attracts attention without seeking attention. Her perfume leaves a soft intoxicating trail. It can be similar to Lancome Oud in the dry down, but...Tabac Rose is younger, modern and flirty. Will shine in the fall and winter...probably more nighttime..but I will wear it during the day as well... Take Five and enjoy!

lmnsvgz

Mix of rose jam and fermented rose juice. And something very sweet in the base (cinammon and chocolate?)

DariaDark

Oooo, I need this in my life! Dark and mysterious roses with tobacco and chocolate. Oh my gosh, I would bath in this scent! Just, I don't have to. Two sprays on me last till the next day. Definitely full bottle worthy for me.

Mind you, I usually gravitate towards clean and fresh musky florals, I hate vanilla so for sweeter scents I choose more fruity fragrances (BDK Wood Jasmin is one fantastic plum jam for an autumn scent) but THIS! This is heavy fragrance done to the perfection. Rose is sweet enough, no sugar was necessary. Tobacco and chocolate brings a spicy, dark and mysterious base for the heavy roses and it's balanced with plum very well. Simple, elegant and dark! But that's not even the best part!

I always had migraines from heavier perfumes. I can smell Thierry Mugler Angel from another room and I'll spend the rest of the day with killer headache. But this is doing no harm, not cloying, just sits warm on me, blooming in a lovely cloud. I've tested it over and over again, during red days, during grey days, on a date, to work, just to enjoy Sunday afternoon... And it never failed to make me happy and more at ease. Is it blind buy safe? Probably not. Is it office friendly? If you don't overspray it, it might be. But I would wear it to a woody cabin in the middle of wild forest, snowed in with only fireplace and a hot chocolate to fight the rough winter with. Or to an opera in Vienna, if I want to make an impression. Or when it's raining and day is all grey and gloomy, to lift my spirits. Or to a winter ball, with a simple black velvet gown and long gloves and very loud jewelry. Definitely an extravagant and expensive smelling perfume!

Now please excuse me, I'm going to order full bottle and a travel spray so I can keep it with me always.

RayCashhhh

This smells AMAZING in the air... On my skin, not so much. Very medicinal quality to it. Kinda smells like Robitussin. Definitely not a bad fragrance, but perhaps it just doesn't pair well with my skin. The projection is solid, I think the longevity isn't bad. I gotta put this on my girlfriend to see how it pops off on her. This is a 8/10 in the air, 7/10 on myself.

Bluetsprincess

It's nice but it definitely smells like a Yankee candle

BoutiqueLove

Love this soo much I just purchased a full bottle! Its very addictive, vibrant, but also dark, deep and cosy- and makes one feel expensive, polished and regal.
The opening is a bright juicy ripe plum followed by dry tobacco and dark chocolate with a delicate red rose whisper in the background.
BDK perfumes are a hit or miss for me- they all smell familiar to perfumes decades ago. Its feels as if they rehashed old perfumes then added a little something different then charged a huge amount!!

alternateu

This is a very spicy, lightly mentholated yet sweet rose with a heavy tobacco leaf accord. Beautiful, minus something very sour and sharp in the opening. Maybe it's just my chemistry or an unfortunate lemon, but together with the spice and menthol-vibe of the perfume, makes me just start to smell like sour sweat.
Close up with my nose almost pressed to my skin, very nice. Far away, that sour note dominates, and unfortunately makes the perfume and I not meant to be.

Scent: On paper, great. On my skin, 4/10.
Projection: Strong
Longevity: Good
Polarity: Unisex

Embodied~Professor

The very definition of an intoxicating scent. Wow! Heady notes of fruit, rose, chocolate and patchouli cling to skin and clothes in the most seductive way. People who think they don’t like rose should try this. The chocolate updates the rose and makes it modern. 10/10 masterpiece

violeteme

I just loved it at the opening, powdery warm rose, but it sweetens and sweetens, until becomes so sryupy, I can't enjoy it anymore. I can't even smell the blotter from far away, it's that potent, heavy, sticky and annoying. I've noticed, this is a path many bdk perfumes take - their beautiful compositions become too gourmand/syrupy towards the end.

Ansarit

This is quite nice . A sweet jammy rose with incense . Don’t get much tobacco.

But on my skin this juice is very weak , therefore I will not be purchasing

Overall- 8/10

Farrque

Sour, slightly peppery but very jammy rose, saffron and amber initially.
The sourness dissappears after about 10 minutes and left is a super soft jammy rose, strawberry cream, plum, hint of dry sandalwood and amber.
Charming if not a bit too sweet and unfocused in its drydown.

Edit: Far drydown is a lot calmer with a realistic, very clean tobacco aswell as cacao and chocolatey patchouli.

NoBluE

BDK Tabac rose is a masterpiece perfume. It’s a high-quality notes. And i dont feel any synthetic in every notes. This perfume super rare in Indonesia. Even if someone sells, the price is very unreasonable. Buy a bottle. And feel the fragrance that is so enchanting, and people who smell the scent will definitely give you compliments. Trust me!! And it's been proven.

astrorocks

BDK is a strange house for me. I find, very often, intriguing and complex scents that I like, but don't LOVE. It's always a case so far where I feel like they've taken some of my favorite notes and paired it with some I really don't like and the end result leaves me confused and torn. But, on the other hand, I never run into anything I hate. I am a big fan of tobacco notes and that is what led me to try this one. Honestly, it is quite good and, yet, there is something not pushing me into the love lane. I think most likely this is the patchouli + rose combo (usually a real dislike for me). The fact I don't dislike this MORE due to those notes is, IMO, a very high praise for BDK and how well blended this is. Unfortunately, the notes I am interested in (tobacco, chocolate, plum, cinnamon) are somehow overtaken by the rose on my skin. That being said, I do get chocolate here, which is among my favorite notes, and I think that really keeps me firmly in the 'like' category. The tobacco, on me, fades away and I get more of a chocolatey slightly fresh rose. The patchouli I also don't get a hit of on dry-down, but it might be that something in the background throwing me off falling in love. It's around a 7.5/10 for me.

Baltabarin

TABAC ROSE - Joy in a bottle, a captivating, indulgent, and sexy little masterpiece.
It opens with a syrupy and sticky rose but quickly evolves into a fragrance with a unique complexity; tobacco, lemon, and labdanum are extremely delicate yet crucial in providing a mature and refined context to the rose and chocolate.
Chocolate takes the lead role, a milk chocolate melted by the warmth of fingers, buttery and enveloping, which, when blended with the rose, evokes the scent of a lip gloss, the smell of exuberant youth that innocently desires nothing but to be a grown-up. BDK has managed to convey a sophisticated sweetness, sensually sticky and impeccably unique with this fragrance.

E.L.2002

Smells generic and high-quality at the same time...
It's a rose-centered, fruity fragrance with spicy undertones.

Definitely leaning female. It's absolutely an improvement over female designer-fragrances which I find mostly awful.

Scent 8/10
Performance 6,5/10
Versatility 6,5/10

Kid_izzy

Love at first sniff!
This opens up with plum and chocolate. Very well blended and I enjoy how the tobacco plays a support role that is apparent but not the star player.

I get at least 7-8 hours with amazing projection. This is great in cooler temps and decent for cooler evenings during the warm seasons!

ekoeko

The juiciest, the most delicious rose ever..

From the name I was expecting a tobacco fragrance with hints of rose to round it up, and what a surprise... absolute gourmand.. I'm in love...

Cdub5_

Ok, wow, this is an awesome fragrance!!
You get all the main players in this, not just one or two notes predominantly over the others, but all of them all up front and center. You get the rose, you get the chocolate, you get the cinnamon, you get the tobacco, all equally coalescing into this truly magical scent. I didn't have particularly high expectations going into this as I've tried numerous other iterations of this dna yada yada 'sure smells good' then I forget about it, but this one, Tabac Rose, without a doubt this is in the upper echelon of this dna.
I see Oud Bouquet by Lancome as the leading comparison fragrance, but I don't wholeheartedly agree with that. Sure, Oud Bouquet is nice, but I lump that fragrance in with the numerous "Oud/Rose" combo's as in if you've smelled one, you've about smelled them all, but Tabac Rose most definitely separates itself from that overcrowded Oud/Rose pack.
Truly blown away by Tabac Rose! 10/10 no question.

Vanillastorm40

Gorgeous. I've been on a rose bender and have been racking up some amazing rose beauties. I need a full bottle of this STAT. Now, I hate oud. I'm not a big fan of labdanum usually either because it's leatheryness so I went out on a whim with this one. All the comparisons to oud fragrances and the reviews had me wondering if I was going to regret buying the travel spray. Hell no. I don't get oud at all, thank God. I get dark chocolate and an OD of cinnamon in a good way. And the tobacco. The Rose is maroon. It smells maroon if that makes sense. This thing is lovely. I recently purchased Dreamhouse Ikiryo Rose of Venus (dark, Incense rose) and this is similar to that and vice versa. Yeah, I need a FB of this one. So far, BDK has been full of wins for me. Pas Ce Soir, Rouge Smoking and now this.

Stampinator

Wowsers... this is unique, deep, dark, rich, delicious, completely addictive and sexy as hell! Use with caution. Overspray at your own peril.

The dry-down is heavenly - so sophisticated and soft. This is high on my wish list. Incredible rose-patch with a twist. The chocolate, plum & tobacco is genius - this is gourmand for a non-gourmand lover. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

ScentedAway

You solemnly tread across a scorched battlefield, with trees burnt to ashes while the crows had already arrived to spectate. Amidst the desolation, you place a stalk of rose upon the charred earth to etch a memory for the valiant lives lost, then watch its petals curl up and erode away as an elegy.

Hamraessence

Insane projection. two sprays could be considered two heavy. this is a true "elixir" scent. not to mention the complexity and unique nature of this scent. You will get some wows wearing this out.

Cat103

The genuine rose scent here wowed me from moment one and I don't care for rose scents in general, but this ohhh this. The plum (sweet but not syrupy, thank heavens!) and cinnamon notes intrigue, there's a sweetness and a bit of chocolate that arises as well as a slight tobacco/patchouli masculinity comes up and keeps the party in line....EXTREMELY elegant and sophisticated. Oh BDK, ohhhhh....It keeps intriguing me through the drydown and hours later. I have a sample and I'm loving it....a full bottle is in my future. Perfect for nightime, for fall and winter

TabledThoughts

On my skin, this comes across as a honeyed tobacco with a sweet turkish taffy rose.
Zero chocolate, plum, patchouli, etc.. just rose.
Not a fan of the flower prominent in a perfume, particularly the turkish variety so this is a hard pass for me.
However, I've noticed I like this scent better when sprayed on material.
Oh well..
the fragrance is too matronly for my taste anyway.

blondie353_4

This smells *expensive* and so so nice. It is a bit more mature, so it is definitely for the confident person. I don't get much lemon. It's mostly rosy chocolate and plums. I can see how it wouldn't be for everyone. I am waiting to buy a full bottle for the correct season as this has no business on anyone during the summer.

Perfumeismydrug

The lemon in the opening notes is very strong. The rose is comforting but the strong lemon makes this a headache inducing scent for me.
Once the lemon settles you get whiffs of chocolate and tobacco. I absolutely did not notice any plum, cinnamon or patchouli. I guess the cinnamon kind of gets lost between the lemon, chocolate and tobacco. If I force my self to notice maybe then I guess I can smell a bit a cinnamon but it isn’t noticeable otherwise. Towards the end the powdery notes start smelling bitter to my nose. I think this could be because of the cinnamon? After the bitterness settles it becomes a nice powdery sweet scent.
I really wanted to love this because I’m deeply in love with Gris Charnel from the same house but I don’t see myself buying a full bottle. I’m going to try and finish the sample I have.

Ninamariah

Nice mellow potent Rose in the opening, quite sweet and jammy because of the plum and chocolate. Definitely goes to the gourmand side. Very good for the wintertime. Tobacco is just a hint here. The main reasons why I don’t need a full bottle of this is that Rose disappears really quickly after the opening and after 15 minutes this is just a skin scent for me and I smell just vanilla with a little hint of sweet chocolate. If you want a long lasting version from this scent profile I think PENHALIGON’S CAIRO or MATIERE PREMIER’S RADICAL ROSE are better choices - plum/chocolate/rose is delicious anyway in Tabac Rose. I have been testing many this kind of scents and in Vanilla Rose category I choose CAIRO and without Vanilla Radical Rose. Dusita’s Rosarine is amazing as well (with Vanilla).

Charllife

I quite like this on myself, but if I met a man wearing this I’d probs fall head over heels it’s such a weirdly comforting scent. The chocolate is so well blended.

Retro_Futurista

I’m a rose lover and this is no exception.
But it’s such a unique take on the spicy rose combo. It’s more gourmand with the added chocolate. Smooth and rich, and opens with that plum and lemon which is so refreshing for this type of profile.
The plum makes it juicy and the lemon adds a brightness and zing in the beginning, and when the dry down happens that’s where the magic is.
People will compare it to Shagaf oud. Nah that’s gasoline…OUd Boquet? Nah not as sparkling and juicy, POAL? Nope not so dry or spicy. BDK continues to wow me. I have 5 of them which is unique to my collection. Typically I like at most 3 from a line that I really wanna wear daily. This is a lifer for me
Another stunner from BDK

Stoicchild

Ooo how much I need another alluring Rose scent in my life! I love this but I already have something very similar, Royal Rose by Juicy Couture. I can never have enough Rose scents🌹

meroo

A nice plum rose scent in the opening, the tobacco comes out a little later. Smells familiar, like oriental scents I smelled in Dubai. Not for me but I appreciate it.

Tato Chkhenkeli

Numero Uno Rose based Unisex fragrance for me, periodt.🌹🙏💜💕

It scores 10/10. And way ahead of Oud Satin Mood, Portrait of a Lady, Oud Silk Mood etc.

xildelphi

Feels like a hug from a woman in her 30s or 40s wearing a big wool coat. A plummy, chocolatey rose with hints of tobacco, that feels so incredibly cozy. Feel like I'm a bit too young or at least don't have the vibes for this, but this is so comfy I've been wearing it to sleep every night regardless.

Charllife

This reminds me a little of delina in the first 10 minutes or so which is odd as it doesn’t share that many notes, anywho it’s a nice well balanced fragrance

FragBoy Stewie

THIS should've been called Rouge Smoking instead!
The poster below (taurusenergy) puts it perfectly...smells like a group of French ladies smoking at a high-class cocktail party surrounded by dark red rose bouquets - Hyper-realistic and Beastly!

taurusenergy

A bit too realistic, like being in a smoke shop filled with fresh cut roses.

deoeternus

Luxurious pot-pourri on first sniff.
Linear scent, though not a bad thing as it is a consistent performer.
Great sillage, pleasant projection, long-lasting.
Nectary plum, luscious rose, sweet spiced tobacco with an earthy patchouli/labdanum base.
Seductive & alluring on a man.
Elegant yet vivacious on a lady.
A captivating head-turner!

𖦹Selene𖦹

This gets a big like from me. The opening is a fresh, plump rose, with a hint of sweet smoke and a lot of cinnamon. The spicy aspect is definitely here and it stays prominent w the pink pepper & cinnamon. It makes my nose slightly tickle which may be why it's not a love for me. I get a very strong leather accord with this one also, most likely from the labdanum. The tobacco and patchouli play well together and keep everything grounded. It's really impressive how many notes you can pick up individually. I suppose that is a sign of a well crafted perfume.

Phyreece

The opening is very sweet. It avoids becoming cloying by packing a punch. Does pink pepper provide that quality? I have no clue. Rose is prominent. A lot of dry herb and smokey incense. It's got character but it's not easy to wear. I don't think this is a crowd pleaser. For something this "dark," it has enough sweetness to remind me of an upscale tea+pastry shop. Definitely in the gourmand category.

Compared to Jazz Club by Maison Martin Margiela, Tabac Rose is much sweeter and borderline gourmand. This is especially true in the opening where the plum note is overwhelmingly sweet and, might I say, cloying. Jazz Club is more light-hearted and refreshing due to the white florals. After hours' wear, Tabac Rose loses most of it's cloy and blossoms into it's namesake with a ton of darkness and mystery. Only then do I enjoy it way more than Jazz Club, which degrades into a pleasant wood scent without a lot of character. To me Tabac Rose is a masterpiece that takes some weathering. You will be rewarded if you're willing to suffer through the fruity frivolity in the beginning.

Compared to Portrait of a Lady by Frederic Malle, Tabac Rose edgy and mysterious where you is balanced and masterful. Beautiful in their own way, Tabac Rose is delicious and dark where Portrait of a Lady is delicate and deep. Tabac Rose opens sweet and fruity, which I find repulsive. I enjoy the Portrait of a Lady from the first spray till last sniff.

If a man wore this, i'd follow him around all day. So dark, sexy and intoxicating!

It is still unisex to me and anyone can totally own this!

arizonaruby

This is so good. It’s a great example of a dark, sexy rose fragrance. The chocolate gives it a warm, rich, almost gourmand character, which is then counterbalanced really well by the slightly earthy and smoky tobacco and patchouli. The rose is prominent throughout. For me this is definitely a nighttime fragrance; would be perfect for a date or anytime you want to feel sexy. Probably more feminine because of the rose but a man could definitely pull this off. Oh, and the performance is insane - this lasts forever.

maddy.cucu

I want to like this because I love the notes but the tobacco here is very very dry. So dry and smokey. It doesn’t work with my very dry skin type, it just dries it up even more and the rose and chocolate fade into the background. I sad :(

Mistress Eva

My first foray into BDK Parfums was a success! Tabac Rose is a beautiful rose and chocolatey tobacco fragrance. The plum is noticeable, giving the rose a jammy quality. It's a great cool/cold weather scent. It's beautifully balanced and rich, with sophisticated, semi-gourmand nuances. Indeed, Tabac Rose is a worthy example of this genre and notable offering in the crowded market of rose-tobacco fragrances. It's an 8/10 for me (which is a very respectable rating).

The performance is very good, both longevity and sillage. Unisex.

SailorV

I imagined something called Tabac Rose to be a warm, balsamic tobacco and rose scent, made for cuddling up in fall and winter, maybe a bit mature leaning. But this is something completely different!
It's a cool, fruity rose that makes me think of the colors hot pink and neon green. Appropriate for winter, but not very cuddly or cozy, instead it's more of a loud and fun party scent. It opens up with very zesty, juicy plum and lemon notes, not like plum jam, but like green plums. The rose is very apparent all through the scent journey, it feels very bright and radiant and reminds me of Montale's rose fragrances. Underneath it all lie the warmer notes of tobacco, cacao and dry resins, which add interest and substance to the base.
Even though rose is very present at all times, the scent changes considerably from the tart and fresh opening to the creamy, sweeter drydown. Hints of tobacco peek through in all thr different phases, but aren't always in the foreground.

I added this to my sample kit without thinking too much about it, there were other fragrances by bdk I was more interested in, but now it became one of my favorites from the house.

Ehollie

This was a very successful blind buy. And the last thing I needed was another rose fragrance. Let me explain to you what I get. This is like a Temptations love song. You got 5 different voices singing in 5 different octaves. And everyone is singing their part beautifully. The opening is everybody harmonizing, Then the Rose comes out an sings this beautiful Falsetto (Eddie), the plum comes in and adds gorgeous fruitiness and liveliness(paul) as it dries down its starts to get serious and down to business with that chocolate blended perfectly with that earthy patchouli (Dennis and Melvin) and then the fragrance fragrance starts to settle, and at this point I’m satisfied I’ve seen a good show, but as soon as you think the song is over, here comes this smooth ass tobacco strutting in like it owns the place (David). And while David is singing the rest is back there still humming in perfect harmony. My only dislike is not knowing when to expect David. Masterpiece

RomanticRose

Oh boy is this beautiful! So soft but pungent. So calming and classy. The chocolate, the rose, cinnamon, patch - I love love this scent. Not something I wear everyday as i keep this scent for best. Very feminine, very luxurious, very addictive. I won’t ever be without it!

Luna_503

You can save yourself about $150 and purchase Shaghaf Oud instead. They smell damn near identical and the Shaghaf Oud performs a lot better and lasts longer.
Not sure if they were trying to replicate Lancôme Oud Bouquet, but they certainly did come close. This is not the rosy chocolate tobacco scent I was expecting. Although it smells nice, it is not worth the money at all. Thankful I only purchased a 10ml travel size.

bintTapputi

I like this because while it does fall into the trap of the typical woody/rose/patchouli combo that so many other fragrances does, it's still unique and has something interesting to offer. Namely in the opening, which is bright and feminine and very modern. I agree with others, it's fizzy and peppery and lemony in a very interesting way. The middle is jammy jammy jammy rose, very sweet and dark and nice. It dries down with a lot of chocolate/patchouli which I think pulls it into a masculine direction, though I think the perfume is ultimately still unisex. I think I'd pass on it, I mean I don't really even like rose all that much, or patchouli but especially in this common combination. I think ultimately it's a pass because of the price, nearly $250 for something that has been done to death. While the spin here with tobacco leaves it a little drier, more airy, more modern, I still don't think it's enough to justify it's existence. It's nice, outside of the price point. And I think it would have a pretty large market to tap, since it's a very popular type of composition. For me its a pass. 6/10

EstherR

For me it was love at first sight when I smelled it.
A combination of tobacco with rose, interesting and special. Different from Tom Ford tobacco vanilla in case anyone wants to compre. Exceptional longetivy, I constantly smell myself.
I didn't get sillage compliments so I don't know if other smell.

cloudswirl

I really enjoyed this one. I don't usually enjoy tobacco scents, but this one was really nice. The rose is a very jammy rose, and the tobacco & patchouli base meshes well with that. The added notes of the plum and chocolate really elevate this perfume and make it simply wonderful. On me, it has a slight powdery undertone in the dry down as well, which makes it feel to be to be more feminine leaning.

I think this can be overwhelming though, I only do 2 sprays since the tobacco and patchouli radiate more than the rose. But up close, this smells heavenly. Since it's a little overwhelming for me, I would purchase decants/samples of this fragrance rather than a full bottle. I can see my sample lasting me quite a while.

Datura-Darling

I admit that upon reading the name I rolled my eyes into the back of my skull and thought to myself "Here we go... another rose and tobacco scent to add to the thousands already out there'.
I expected mediocrity, an underwhelming rose patch with some tobacco notes thrown in, or some sickly powdery rose. In the end, what I got was a massive dose of humble pie. A pie that was a sweet desert one in the form of this gourmand rose minx.

On first spray I immediately get a sharp hit of freshly ground pink pepper and an almost fizzy rose reminiscent of rose lemonade. The top notes are bright and uplifting in a way that made me smile and pay attention. I noticed now there is lemon listed as a note too, which makes sense for the rose lemonade sensation I experienced.

After the fizzing and dazzling opening I get the jamminess of over ripe plums leaking syrup into the wanton, open mouth of a bold rose. A rose who's petals are sugared and dusted ever so slightly in cinnamon. It is sweet, but not sickenly so. This makes my mouth water and my heart pound. It's pretty and sexy and I find it rather androgynous. In one way it is girly and feminine, on the other it is a bit dirty and earthy too. This could easily be worn by a man, especially on the dry down.

Before it all gets too cloying sweet the bitter and dry cacao appears. The chocolate note is almost waxy and it works very well in tandem with some dirty patchouli, which balances out the more super sticky and sweet side of things.

There's a lovely hint of tobacco and a rich, dark and resinous labdanum here too, all of which adds further depth and complexity in a way that is not as familiar as you'd think for a perfume with these notes. This base here itself is like the substrate from which the intoxicating gourmand rose blooms forth.

I will be getting a full bottle of this for sure. A very well done scent and I believe a unique rose.

raeseo2000

I like this, don't normally like rose too much. For me the tobacco-rose combo is almost green, quite fresh and clean. I do end up layering this one only because it can get a bit much, even headache-y if you spray too much, and a bit more mature and masc than what would suit me most of the time. That being said, the juice is nice and strong! The initial spritz is always very lovely and the citrusy top notes really compliment all the rest of it. It is definitely something more unique, and grows on you! Probably one of my favourites now. A bit gourmandish too, sweet, but not a lot.

Beabug

Super jammy rose. Reminds me of a slightly grown up version of Rose Jam body gel from Lush that would come out only around the holidays. As someone who has a love affair with that shower gel, I got a kick out of spraying this. For someone who loves rose and is tiptoeing into more gourmand territories, this is a great fragrance to try. It’s not sickly sweet, it’s interesting and well blended. Rose hips, honey, stewed fruits. It lasted an average amount of time and stayed pretty close to my skin. The dry down was beautiful but less dynamic.

zcbensel

Well balanced and strong.
Might be my new favorite. Spicy and darkly floral. Base heavy and beautiful. The rose and tobacco are the main stars, well supported by the other middle and base notes to widen and darken the rose and brighten and spice the tobacco.
Great longevity and and silage. 12 hours to get down to skin. About a 6ft silage up through hour 6 and slowly fades down as time progresses.

Trishaaa

This perfume genuinely puts a smile on my face. I never thought going into this I'd get something more tropical of all things but man I absolutely LOVE this with all my heart! the plum and citrus elevate the tobacco and rose offering a very unique and rich profile. The chocolate is there as well but it's a little under shadowed from the other notes here. As much as I adore the smell, I feel this wouldn't be the most appropriate for wearing it everyday unfortunately. Might put some people off with its power and possibly its sweetness too.

Kotikina

I found my unicorn gourmand rose. While it is a rose dominant fragrance, the plum is also intense. I do get quite a lot of chocolate and tobacco note is definitely here, but not very potent. Oud is not stated amongst the notes and maybe it isn't present, but there is certainly an oudy mood. It is a sweet, sirupy and deep elixir. Not an everyday scent for sure. It is not that similar to Cafe Intense, but a bit similar scent profile.
Scent: 10/10
Longevity: 8/10
Sillage: 8/10

Unruly Julie

This reminds me of Red Hot candies 🍬. I like it a lot. Just be careful not to overspray it or it may choke you!

emilyjxne

Patchouli & plum are notes that can be very hit or miss for my nose however I tried Tabac Rose as I liked Cairo by Penhaligons but not quite enough to buy a full bottle so have been doing the rounds of fragrances in the same family.
Unfortunately, I can’t stand this one, it’s shrill, cloying & a headache in a bottle. Sickly sweet, with a herbaceous nuance. All in all, a screamer and a scrubber. It lasts and projects like an untamed beast so if you like it, it’s worth the money. I can imagine people who like Oud satin mood by MFK (which I also detested) enjoying this.

frederickf_

Tobacco at its best. And I love some tobacco. But I don’t smoke lol. Sexy sweet unisex vibe. What really does me in is the chocolate with the tobacco with that rose and patchouli to make it dark, exotic, sophisticated and elegant.

I don’t get any citrus but that doesn’t mean it’s not there. Not a lot of plum either, but maybe that accord is giving off smoky dim lit room and bad boy or girl vibes.

More of a sophisticated skin scent, but it projects on my skin and lasts quite a while. Despite some of the reviews, I love it.

chyan

I was really expecting to love this with the notes or at the very least a strong like -- but I have tried it several times and smell something really offputtingly astringent and sour in the opening that stayed for a couple of hours that I could not get past. Decent on paper.

KarinaSo

Beginning reminds me of Amouage Crimson Rocks but more bright and happy with slight lemon freshness and my beloved pachouli and labdanum which makes it very beautiful. Very comforting scent. Later opens up chocolate, plum fruitiness and rose making it even more calm and romantic. It's totally unisex :)
Sadly drydown is mainly chocolate and liiiitle bit of pachouli.. Too gourmand, sweet and candylike for me but still, first hours are worth it

BigDurian

@bon.chance

Exactly.

The drydown is one of the best mens fragrances I have come across. I have learned (on my skin), as long as I don't spray any on my cloths (skin only) I get to the drydown pretty quickly... at the cost of projection & sillage.

petcake

I'm trying very hard to consciously write over my negative scent association w/rose, by skin-testing various rose fragrances to see what lands. Tabac Rose is very strong, so wearing it on my skin is very much a CONFRONTATION tbh! I can't decide if the powdery-sweet spicy rose is the way to go for me personally, but I can't say it's unpleasant.

BGBG

This one for me is Rose, spices, citrus, green notes and fig. It reminds me of Gris Charnel and Philosykos.

lullabies.to.violane

Heady, almost caramelized labdanum, clove cigarettes, and fragrant rosewood. A lush haze of sweet incense, hedonistic but never fully debauched. I perhaps expected this to evoke a sense of the archetypical vamp, but lacks a certain darkness. Not femme, but fille fatale. A rich, sticky confection.

A post script: Tabac Rose layers gorgeously over Attaquer le Soleil Marquis de Sade by Etat Libre d'Orange. The cruel, indolic side of labdanum under it’s softer character here lends the depth, intrigue, and complexity I felt this scent was missing, and together they melt into a dark dream of leather, of crushed roses, of djarum blacks and late nights.

MrsSage

Opens like a sparkling rose lemonade to my nose with a more unisex leaning, slightly earthy sweet dry down! Really beautiful and not at all what I expected. Tart berries with purple and dark pink rose petals. Velvety smooth with a hint of a soft and smooth tobacco note to stop it from becoming overly fruity. A really gorgeous rose scent, its a shame my husband hates this as he thinks it smells like "an old fashioned air freshener from the 90's". Not many of the BDK line has made much of an impression on me but Tabac Rose and Gris Charnel are incredibly beautiful.

bon.chance

Dear BDK,
Please, please, PLEASE, for the love of everything good and beautiful in this corrupt world, MAKE A PARFUM VERSION OF THIS THAT GETS TO THE DRYDOWN FASTER!!!

I promise you, you will have a fragrance that men will flock to the world over. Think Aventus levels of popularity and reverence.

Sometimes the best inventions and innovations are purely accidental: penicillin, Pyrex, Lycra, etc..

BDK, you have unwittingly stumbled upon something that is UNIVERSAL in male perfumery while being equally near NONEXISTENT in male perfumery: a scent profile that is BOTH indolic and earthy!

The mid to late drydown of Tabac Rose is masculinely sweet. This is somewhat hard to explain which why it is nearly never fully realized in a fragrance..because in order to create something, someone must first put words to what they are attempting to create, esp if the creation takes more than one person to produce as perfume often does.

Let me try to explain this so most can understand what I'm talking about (Here, I'm talking to you BDK!!!).

When most people, esp women, think of a man in a full sweat, they imagine odor, specifically, body odor as contemporaneous with that full sweat but this is not true in most non indoor settings. A clean man, fresh from a morning shower and a healthy breakfast out in the woods or a meadow, chopping wood, mending a broken fence post or even clearing brush will NOT have b.o necessarily. He will most likely take on the natural aromas of the flora he is working in and amongst. BDK Tabac Rose's late drydown is the scent of a clean man clearing wild brush just beyond wild tobacco fields where on the rise just overlooking the clearing there are blossoms of wild roses blooming in the late spring.

I GUARANTEE you BDK, 95% of men WANT TO SMELL LIKE THIS AND 99.99999% OF WOMEN WANT MEN WHOM SMELL LIKE THIS.

The late drydown of this fragrance gives exactly this scent BUT one has to wait nearly 4 hours for it and slog through some kind of macabre sugar confectionary inside those 4 hours to get there.

PLEASE DO BETTER.

You can send me my royalty checks when the bonanza begins to roll in.

Overall, it feels like this fragrance has the backbone of the popular rose-patchouli-oud DNA. However, this fragrance is SWEET, very sweet. This starts out with rose, chocolate, and tobacco. Despite the name, this fragrance is not tobacco-dominant and I notice the tobacco only in the opening. I then get something that reminds me of champagne--I think it's the pink pepper combined with the lemon. Then this starts to get sweet, sickeningly sweet-in fact it started to make me a bit nauseous. Thankfully, the sweetness does die down a bit and the labdanum and woods come out. The labdanum mixed with the sweet notes is a "no" for me, but I wouldn't mind smelling this on someone else. Has fantastic performance.

dcalandy

This smells like it has the DNA of Xerjoff with that sensual dark fruity floral vibe. Love how each BDK scent has a very unique perspective and this one is about treading that narrow line between what's traditionally considered masculine and feminine.

amyaz

I feel crazy, last night I tried this just dabbing it on my wrist and it smelled so good, like a perfect blend of all the notes. However today I tried it in a sprayer and this smells so much like mangos (im assuming its the plum). Not terrible but not the tasty chocolate cinnamon tobacco rose I got the first time :( smells very much like Dirty Mango from Heretic on me. Very weird.

Cymbopogon

Mysterious,Deep, and intense rose Fragrance very well blended To me this is one of the most beautiful rose fragrance I owned .absolute not a safe blind buy you have to love strong and very intense rose to begin with so you will enjoy this one.

puddington

Yes. Confirmed. Beautiful is the first word that came to mind when smelling this for the first time.

Update:
This feels magical as it's dry down blooms into what feels like a different perfume. Wow. My personal favorite from the bdk line.

Shoaga

This was a love at first sniff back in September at Osme perfumery in Miami. It just stands out for its uniqueness. At times I find it chocolates, resinous, herbal, even fresh. It feels like a new fragrance every day depending on the weather, number of sprays, and where sprayed. Most will see this as a cold weather scent. I most prefer this when it’s over 70 degrees and the sun is shining as this makes it more effusive. I hope to enjoy the many facets of this fragrance for years to come.

antoniov

This is very strange because on my skin I don't get much of the rose fragrance, it's mostly plum and lemon which could also create the impression of smelling a pear. There's no smoke but I could see the chocolate there and this isn't heavy on me (which I would expect with the patchouli note). It has an element of freshness with depth but I think the lemon ruins it for me here.

forêt

This makes me gag! I smell lemon peels, or perhaps the bitter white part. The rose makes me sick. I blind bought it a few months ago. I have wanted to give it one wearing to make sure the hate is real but I can’t bring myself to put it on! I don’t want that smell on any of my clothes.. Sorry peeps for the negativity. I should probably sell it..

BigDurian

After smelling Tabac Rose on a tester strip from the mall (and really liking it), my wife purchased a decant. The next day.. She wore it out to a brunch with her family. Upon returning home in the afternoon, she immediately said to me... "This smells masculine".

Smelling it on her... it was definitely a "more masculine" chocolatey smell.

We then gave it a test run on my skin, where...

The (long lasting) opening is a "more feminine" sweet jammy rose. But, as it dries down (slowly losing the rose and some sweetness) it turns unisex. Once it hits the dry-down though... it is definitely masculine.

Unlike my wife, I didn't get any noticeable chocolate. The (herbal) tobacco and patchouli dominated (like a 70s-80s mens fragrance). My wife told me, "On you... it smells dirty (in a sexy way)".

While I liked the dry-down of Tabac Rose... the opening was too feminine for me... and the dry-down is too masculine for my wife... so we won't be getting a full bottle.

On both my wife and me, projection was a little above moderate, but longevity was beast mode.

Dramaloladiva

Oh. My. Goodness. This is so BEAUTIFUL!!
I cannot recommend this beautiful bottle of sultry-ness enough!!!
This is so well blended, a truly wonderful masterpiece. An oriental perfume that will transport you straight to Scheherazade’s Mille et Une Nuits Palaces full of mysterious desert delights.

Longevity: 12 hours+
Projection: beastly (on me)
Sillage: same
Price: it’s pricy, I did get it at a discount and I am thrilled to have added it to my collection!!

This, to me, is an almost gourmand but not quite kind of perfume. It contains notes that are VERY strong together but somehow, they all blend beautifully and work to create a magical and oriental experience like no other!
I would also add that this works much better in colder weather, winter nights, sexy date and the likes. Though I could wear this beauty to bed, personally, and dream of Arabian Nights and princesses and such 😆😆🤩🤩✨✨

Get a sample first as this is something of an acquired taste, at least, in my opinion...

Blacktundras

I swear this smells better and better the longer I have it. It's such an interesting scent. It gives me a warm, comforting, mildly spicy rose. The plum and tobacco give it this heft that prevents the fragrance from being too boring, which is a plus in my book. Great kind of "romantic with the right person" style fragrance since it makes its presence known without killing the room. I find myself wearing this more and more lately like it's improved the longer it maturated.

Shasta Dawn

The best of the house. A beautiful, spicy gourmand rose. One of my favorite roses. It’s sweet and jammy, but the spices keep it from becoming cloying. It shines and sparkles with texture in cold weather. The tobacco is a sweet cherry pipe tobacco your grandfather smoked. It’s nostalgic and warm. The Rose is dark and velvety. A masterpiece of bdk and sadly slept on.

Zessly

Opening is a beautiful blend of rose and tobacco in Tobac Rose, I especially like that the rose isn’t overly floral or candied, more of a dry, fruity sort of rose. The chocolate is not really sweet at all, honestly I couldn’t even really detect it, so it most likely is used to blend the other notes together.

Originally thought this was feminine, but once this dries down after a couple hours, I’ve found that the rose actually fades away and this become a very smoky, woody tobacco scent, not feminine at all. I’ll have to test this some more to see how frequently this occurs, as this is an almost complete transformation from the opening.

Roman86

I don't mean to intrude since I'm more of a designer fragrance kind of guy but here I am. I received a free sample from Maxaroma from one of my orders and just tested it. To my nose it's a mellow, sweet, subdued kind of scent that has class and sophistication written all over it. You'd have to be dressed up to wear this appropriately since it doesn't seem like a casual t-shirt and jeans kind of scent. It can be unisex, but pardon my ignorance, it does lean slightly more feminine to my sensibilities. A male can pull it off but he'd have to go light on the sprays because otherwise people may think he's wearing a perfume. If he doesn't care then go for it since it takes a certain kind of maturity to wear and appreciate this scent. The fragrance is pleasant for sure but it's not something I would purchase considering the steep price tag and it's not something that aligns with my sensibilities. I'm just here to have a record of this as I can't add much else that others haven't already. I'm off to my designer side now. Thanks for having me here.

ingeneuxo

-Tabac Rose is a woody frutchouli scent.
-Rather different from the frutchoulis by the house of Xerjoff.
-Plum notes and tobacco add dimension to Tabac Rose, making it distinctly more refined than your run-of-the-mill designer perfume.
-A bit of a mature scent to my nose. Would suit women 35+. (-)

redberry11

As much as I didn't understand the plum combination in BDK's Wood Jasmine, the marriage with tobacco, patchouli, rose, chocolate and cinnamon makes sense in Tabac Rose. It is Mugler's Angel type of a scent. I will go so far as to say that Tabac Rose is my favourite of all BDK's scents I've tested (although I haven't smelled Gris Charnel, any of the blue bottles, French Bouquet or their oud and tonka), followed by Nuit de Sable and Bouquet de Hongrie.
Overall, I am quite impressed by this brand and would recommend anybody looking for non designer perfumes of good price/ performance/ originality ratio to get the BDK discovery set.

FaisalBio

Simply, take TF tobacco vanilla and take some spices out and add a lot of jammy sweet rose note, that's it!

To me, it's not well balanced, too much sweet rose for me. Try Vanilla Flash by Taueville, it has less rose and more spices/ tobacco.

If you read the notes you would expect a lovely warm and spicy, resinous fragrance... even the name suggests the sweetness of both rose and tobacco but NO SUCH THING!
Tabac Rose shocked me with its initial bitterness accompanied by an unpleasant medicinal quality that I actually went back to look at the notes, puzzled at the horrible odor.
For oud lovers and leather and smoke aficionados, I imagine this is to be the perfect fragrance. Certainly well crafted, quality ingredients very macho but NOT anything for some poor soul like me who hoped for a rose laden, fruity, earthy spice bomb!

Ryan1986

While most Rose frags are usually told to be well-blended rose frags in the world, they are just not; it seems some people don’t know the meaning of well-blended fragrances. Most rose fragrances are just about rose, since rose is a dominant note. For example, Santal Royal by Guerlain is a fragrances with many notes one of which is rose, but the most dominant note you smell is rose, either the top note or the dried-down one.
However, Tabac Rose is really well-blended, sniffing all the notes in the top one to the chocolate, cinnamon, and tobacco in the others. Rose is obviously existed in all levels but in a great balance. I can say this frag is really delicious, makes me hungry, lol.
It made me amazed when I tested it on my skin for the first time. It has a great resemblance to Spicebomb extreme in my opinion. They have similar DNA I ponder, which is good. Tabac Rose is 190 euro for 100 ml while Spicebomb extreme is 85 euro in Douglas in Italy. I know, I know. Tabac Rose is suppose to be a luxurious nische frag. But believe me. Nische is a name to make you pay more money (not always).
I love Tabac Rose, really do. It’s in my wish list. But there are much more essential frags up ahead.

Longevity on my skin in 8 hours and good projection in the first 3 hours. Generally satisfying.

maddy.cucu

Disclosure: wearing today from my sample vial.

To me, this is not that close to Lancome Oud Bouquet. In my option, it’s more similar to TF Tobacco Vanille as I find the tobacco and smokiness more prominent on my skin. The chocolate and plum alluding to the vanillin sweetness of TF. I find oud bouquet MUCH sweeter and syrupy and doesn’t contain tobacco at all.

As gourmand as this sounds, I find that the tobacco makes this lean slightlyyyyyy masculine (but unisex nonetheless). It’s got a ruggedness to it.

But I’d say if you like both of those fragrances, you’d love this one. I really like it as well. May consider a bottle in the future but I’m content with my TF for now as I don’t have many occasions to wear this type of frag.

Sweet Tobacco.

While not really a misnomer, Tabac Rose is less tobacco & rose, & more gourmandy sweet tobacco.

The scent starts immediately with sweet rose. The sweetness, made by chocolate & plum, is fruity & vanillic, somewhat mango like. As it dries down, the exotically-fruity sweet rose is then joined by a soft & woody tobacco note. The tobacco becomes more & more obvious as time passes. The tobacco/sweetness mix is like many of tobacco/vanilla scents other: Tobacco Vanille, Herod..etc.

Sweet, rosey, mango-y, fruity, tobacco, vanilla.

Tabac Rose is dominated by the sweetness. That is the most obvious accord & it makes it a gourmand fragrance. The sweetness is not very chocolatey but more like a tropical fruit, i.e. mango. The rose is obvious, & when the tobacco starts to show, it Tabac Rose follows the path of classic tobacco/vanilla fragrances like the afromentioned examples.

While it does not smell like them, Tabac Rose has similarity to MFK Oud Satin Mood (sweet, rosey, woody), & Tom Ford Tobacco Vanille & PDM Herod (sweet, woody tobacco).

This is a cool weather scent that leans strongly feminine with its fruity sweetness. It feels mature, luxurious, & classy. Would smell good on a mature woman.

Even though I do like it, the sweetness is way too much for my taste.

Very pungent plum and slightly rosy opening on paper, though thankfully the plum is much more pleasantly subdued on skin. I can detect hints of chocolate and cinnamon, giving it a bit of gourmand flavor, with tobacco coming in the late drydown. Outstanding performance at 4-5hr solid projection and 10-12hr longevity. Kinda gives me grandma vibes, so as a middle-aged dude I'll pass but I actually kinda like it.

QuentinMathieu

A little let down by this one. It sounds like it could have been amazing and different from other oriental rose fragrances, especially with the added note of plum. I love plum as a note when it's well done! Unfortunately, I only got an ultra-sweet, very potent and I must say headache-inducing sweet candied oriental rose. I wish I got more tobacco and patchouli to balance it out. I think if you're into really sweet jammy rose, this is a nice option since the blending is still very nice, but if like me you're looking for something sophisticated... I much more liked the other offering, French Bouquet, also part of the exclusive collection. A gorgeous retro-feeling floral chypre!

I haven’t tried all the Oud fragrances, in fact none of the ones this is being compared to I’ve tried, but I don’t doubt they share similarities...

What I can say, I also have and love MFK Oud Satin Mood and Oud Extrait and find Tabac Rose to be very similar to those, maybe even like a blend of the two. I get the Rose from OSM and the chocolate from Oud Extrait. Which makes sense, they are all Oud fragrances and this has a slight chocolate accord.

So unless you completely dissect each of these fragrances and take the time to pick out the minor differences between them it could be redundant to own each of these, unless you’re a collector like myself, then by all means, go for it!

But yeah, it’s pretty much the same wearing experience and if I didn’t know any better I’d have a hard time telling the difference. Not that that’s a bad thing, they are all great scents, it’s just a matter what house or perfumer your partial to and want to support and what you want to spend. I think they’re all pretty much around the same price, give or take $20-$30 but you get more fragrance with Tabac Rose given it’s 100mL and the MFK’s are 70mL...

Between the 3 I’ve mentioned I’m not sure if one’s stronger than the other... This one is certainly no slouch, I get excellent performance out of it. In fact, I don’t think I’d need any more projection and longevity from it, and of course the MFK’s have incredible performance so...

As for some of the negative connotations regarding this fragrance, I haven’t really experienced any of them tbh.
I really enjoy this one and think it’s pretty great. Nothing musty or sour or weird and off putting, but that’s just me... on my skin these style fragrances tend to lay nicely and go pretty sweet and dynamic, and pleasant to my nose so I can’t complain :)

Lastly, I don’t really think this fragrance has been unnecessarily overhyped or unwarranted of it, either. It’s a really nice fragrance from a newer house that’s gaining some momentum and doing some cool things, so a little bit of hype and excitement about it is certainly not a bad thing! There are a lot worse fragrances that get undeserving hype imo but whatever brings us some joy during these crazy times is a good thing!

The opening, as others note, is very strong peppery lemon which segues into rose, tobacco and some vanilla to my nose but the drydown is pretty meh...almost musty...will try again but the drydown and longevity don't impress me.

I do not understand the raving reviews of this! The opening is really bizarre- maybe lemon mixed with tobacco? I am not sure what it is.. The drydown did become nice. I blind bought it. I will have to give it its own wearing and update. I just want to say it is COMPLETELY DIFFERENT than Shaghaf Oud which I also own and enjoy. Please test before buying.

This is a beautiful, delicious, gourmand, sweet and warm-spicy fragrance but if you want to save a ton of money, buy Swiss Arabian's Shaghaf Oud. Even though the notes in that are mostly rose and oud, it smells the same (sweet, rich, warm-spicy) on my skin/to my nose, but Shaghaf Oud is only $35 and is BEASTMODE (seriously, 1 spray is plenty). Both fragrances are definitely too rich for spring or summer warmth, but if you live in a cooler climate you might be able to get away with wearing this on cooler spring days or even cooler summer nights (I wouldn't wear this in temps over 60F).

3/26/21 Edit: okay, I should have noted I dabbed this on from a lucky scent sample bottle after transferring it to a 2ml spray bottle in my first review. This smelled like Shaghaf Oud all the way through dabbed on and was basically undetectable 4-5 hours later. Today I'm testing it atomized and I definitely get the strange lemon-plum-jammy rose opening (I found it unpleasant). That opening lasted about 30-45 minutes but after having it on for 90+ minutes, it definitely is still giving me 90% Shaghaf Oud vibes, especially in sillage/projection, but up close it smells less like SO, I get a creamy, sweet chocolatey tobacco, which is more like Herod by PDM or Zara's Rich Warm Addictive.

Once you get past the opening, this is nice but not FBW for me due to redundancy with other fragrances in my collection (that don't have funky openings that K don't like) - I highly recommend sampling this before buying and be sure you are able to spray your sample, not just dab it on!

cwavah

Lovely opening with heavy plum and lemon ... I could also sniff the rose note to the dry down of chocolate, and a little of the tobacco

Big compliment getter everyone who sampled it with me loved it and its quite potent . Overall its worth a purchase and good for dates and nights out .

I must admit I initially wrote this off because I envisioned a chocolate powdery rose with tobacco and this one the rose is jammy and sharp and tobacco is faintly in the background..FFWD im getting the fruitiness coming out more with the rose and the drydown a smoky chocolate has emerged..what a transition! So if you initially don't like or dig this one..come back to it and give it a shot!

salespo612

Jammy sweet rose, loads of chocolate, and a generic dark woodiness that is prevalent in designer rose + ouds. Fairly simple and something that has been done many times before. Not impressed

miryamd89

The opening reminds me somewhat of Lancome Oud Bouquet but the drydown reminds me on Montale Intense Cafe

shikibu

I was really disappointed…
It's not TABAC ROSE ! It's OUD JAM ROSE !
I can't feel tobacco at all.
Only first few minutes, sweet boozy rose smell.
After few hours, almost OUD and something smell.

gsk621

Delicious perfume. It definitely shares similarities with "perfect tobacco" from S.T. Dupont. For me, the main difference is the fruity aspect of Tabac rose that I do not find in perfect tobacco.

parispeach

I had high hopes for this one. It was a Harrods Exclusive and on paper looked perfect. I do like this, but......

I blind bought this due to the hype of scent profile and performance. Well after the initial spray which is a bit rotten fruit smelling, the plum comes across like passionfruit. After 5 mins you then detect it as plum mixed with rose and cinnamon. At this point it smells good. The creaminess of the vanilla, and chocolate start to give some weight to it with the tobacco in the far background giving a nice edge to it.

I like it, it’s not a love mainly because, to my nose it doesn’t perform very well. I honestly can’t smell it on me after 15 mins. I literally have to stick my hand under my nose. I don’t know if it’s that fragrance or I’m anosmic. I’m quite baffled actually. When you first spray it doesn’t seem like a fragrance that disappears, hence my confusion.

What’s really annoying is the YouTubers hyped this by saying performance was nuclear, well its not, at all.

I also expected more chocolate and tobacco which isn’t the case.

This isn’t like Shaghaf Oud or Lancome Oud Bouquet. It’s far more fruity than those, and the vanilla isn’t as loud either.

I do like it, and if the thing performed better I would be very happy, but it’s really annoying that it doesn’t. This seems to be an issue throughout this house. Rouge Smoking is loud initially then disappears quite rapidly.

I don’t think I’ll be blind buying any more BDK.

Edit update. 19.08.21

Tried this fragrance again after it has been maturing and macerating and it’s really improved. I get really good performance now. Very strange but this can happen with new fragrances. Put some air in the bottle and put it away to mature.

This opens with the same nasty chemical note as Oud Bouquet/Shaghaf Oud, but instead of woody notes, it dries down to a second hand cigarette smoke odor (like in a public bus station) that reeks and drowns out the sweet jammy rose. It must be an individual interaction thing that causes it to smell horrible to me and some people while others get something pleasant, so if you haven't tried the aforementioned other perfumes - sample this before you buy.

mieaco

like Oud Bouquet but with more character; a bit more complex, flirty/bright... and sweeter. Some sort of Passion fruit/tropical vibe in the top, likely from the plum/cinamon combination. Careful: the opening can feel a bit cloying/juvenile, so if youre not a fan of sweet scents be aware. Dry down is pretty delicious though; the sweetness tones down and becomes nice, warm and creamy, though more mature. Overall really nice scent. The opening sticky sweetness keeps me from reaching for this one very oftenn andis what's keeping it at "Like" rather than "Love" level, but ultimately Tabac Rose is a beautifully blended scent that i always end up enjoying when i wear it.

Few days ago I went to discover BDK parfumes. I bought 3 samples:
Gris Charnel - it was ok but not my taste. (don't realy understand the hype).
Rouge Smokeing - I like it! Almost "want it", but still not sure.

And this: TABAC ROSE
Now this is realy GOOD!!!! I'm not a big rose fragrance fan, and I realy can't stand patchouli based parfumes!
But here in this, the rose is so well balanced with the other notes thet I just can't stop sniffing my skin!!!! The patchouli doesn't turns into a mentholated scent on my skin (as it usualy do), the rose and the chocolate is soft like a creamy lotion, but not boring like a lotion. After thet it turns into a little sweet chocolate fruity, and I think thet's why it's so unique!
It's not a loud and monster sillage fragrance (I think, I just judgeing from my sample right now), but I'm so excited to have a full bottle of it. :)

gelkita

Rose with patchouli no gourmand notes, no sillage ... skin scent in 15 min.

How can this ressemble oud bouquet ! 🧐 Come on ...

It you hate patchouli, stay away from tabac rose.

citrinemalachite

Wow! This is really strong as others have said. Also, it does smell like oud bouquet but without the dirtiness of the oud note. So maybe they added in a synthetic clean oud note? I definitely smell the chocolate and roses, beyond that it’s hard for me to pick out individual notes but I really like this one. If you like gourmands and Oud Bouquet I think you will love this one. Honestly I think I prefer this to Oud Bouquet, it’s smoother and I love the chocolate note.

mmcgreal

The force is strong with this one.. and so is the Tobacco opening! OMG! My sample arrived today, thanks to a super generous Fragrantican and I sprayed liberally about 4-5 hours ago. The strong opening had me doubting for a minute... ok, I doubted for about an hour... I found it too masculine for my taste until the fragrance started developing on my skin.. and it turned into the most delicious sweet mix of chocolate, roses, a touch of plum.. and yes tobacco.. lots of it and super yummy in the dry down.
Don’t know how much longer it will last but it’s still SUPER strong on me, and indeed, it does remind me of Oud Bouquet.
Conclusion: I LOVE IT, I WANT IT, and I’m afraid to try the rest this house has to offer, because I already love this and Cuir de Creme and I feel I’ll be pulling the trigger on a couple of big bottles soon ❤️🤦♀️

❤️

Amazing syrupy sweet dark jam like rose with cigarette ash. Gorgeous and linear - strong in sillage and longevity.

If you like rose it’s a must.

Up there with Initio Atomic Rose and Carner Barcelona Rose and Dragon (which is somewhat similar).

Any suggestions of oud is completely inaccurate and misleading.

Kots_Tanya

So this one wasn’t a love at first sniff because the power of this fragrance is insane. To me it’s all about the dark rosy chocolate dry down almost gourmand. I’m very surprised the Oud is not listed because I can smell It here for sure. This is an Oudy Rose scent. I do find it similar a bit to MFK Oud Satin Mood but I like this one way more compare to MFK. If you into dark burgundy oudy sweet dark chocolate rose scents, it’s a must try. I don’t know how much I will use it since Its not something I’m into but I want to wait till fall because I think it will be ideal for fall.
If you spray more than twice it might be very overpowering for you and people around so it’s best to not overspray and spray away from face, may be wrists. The longevity is crazy, I had it all evening and could still smell it in the morning when I woke up.

Edit: I’m absolutely in love with this fragrance, it takes a while to get to the dry down but it’s absolutely stunning. I’d say it’s unisex leaning feminine.
Gorgeous rose chocolate gourmand with a little bit of oud, it’s unique and I absolutely love the way it changed. It took few uses to figure out, since oud isn’t my thing, but I do like this one now.
It does have big similarities with Lancome's Oud Bouquet which I do prefer over Tabac Rose. On positive note I think as much as Oud Bouquet is quiet feminine, I think men can get away wearing Tabac Rose.
