i've had and loved this for over a year & can't believe that i haven't reviewed it before. opening: dirty & dusty & ancient + hot spice, just the slightest hint of an orange citrus + a kick from something like ginger. cold & warm, slightly naturally sweet.
this was my first experience w this type of rose; a lotion-like rose that i've found in time to smell similar to OJ Ta'if & LEP Cèdre Superfluide and if it was a colour, it would've been silver. i really do quite enjoy this.
in terms of comparisons w POAL, i must personally disagree; this is so delicate & balanced even though it's a strong scent, nothing chokes u. unlike POAL that i find to be an acidic rose that wears YOU, YOU can wear this. overall, it does remind me of the overall DNA of OJ fragrances but this one specifically is suitable for powerful & political women (even though it's undoubtedly unisex.
there's a dispersed tea base that runs through the veins of epic throughout the entire wearing experience and just blends everything together, which might be why it doesn't jump at u considering the strong notes used in the composition.

Just a note for me : this smells identical to my grandmother's house. I want it because it reminds me of her. I don't want it because it reminds me of my grandma lol. I'm on the fence with this one. It's very strong!

NoseMemory

I tested this today on skin, along with Memoir woman, Crimson Rocks and Material, and this is the only one I can barely feel it was even there?! New batches must be truly very weak, seems like this has been butchered, the rest of them held up quite good, although Crimson Rocks and Material are not big projectors imo. They all smell beautiful tho.
Epic is definitely not a sexy fragrance, it's romantic at best, a poem that keeps a rose, unfortunately right after the rose unfolds, scent becomes nothing but lust. Shame.

catcat42

I was expecting more of fresh spices with cool floral woodiness but this was a surprise. I have smelt it somewhere..Then I remembered, this is exactly like the pink liquid women use after bath as a cream in Makkah which is quite common and easy to find. This is a powdery floral on me and its big.Pretty I admit but not what I expected. I was hoping for a more crisp fresh spicy woodiness and this is so well rounded so very perfect circle of white florals in powder haze. I might layer it with something perhaps. Pretty but not a fan.

Ana Letic

Powerful and luxurious perfume. At the beginning reminded me of Black Orchid, but it is not a dupe. Amouage is probably best middle eastern perfumery house that blends all the high quality ingredients.

Closet31

It took me a minute to remember what fragrance this reminded me of. Tom Ford Cafe Rose. A smoky ambery vanillic rose that gets softer as it sits

A safe rose for beginners… men can easily wear this and I prefer it to the men’s version.. it has more depth to it… a buttery spicy creamy rose without being super floral, it smells very natural

A hidden gem… a sexy rose scent for the night even tho I’m currently wearing it in the daytime lol.

It lives up to the past reviews as magical… it’s sexy without being too much and it’s almost whimsical

Msala140

Love everything about this because everything is so well blended . But my nose really notices the Oud , and it’s a very strong , animalic Oud that smells a little stank to me which bothers me a lot. If it wasn’t for that oud, I’d be a happy camper

lapharme

@qianqian huh, I feel the opposite, that POAL is sweeter and more feminine than epic definitely. Epic is more dry and airy. But they don’t really have much in common other than they they are both darker rose orientals. Other than that they are really quite different perfumes. In fact I’m not even sure I’d class POAL as a rose *oriental* (which epic definitely is) but rather as a dark jammy woody rose, as it doesn’t really contain oriental notes, but it’s heavy on the patchouli and wood which I suppose some may interpret as oriental.

C4RR13

Pencil shavings in the best possible manner. Maybe she has spent the afternoon at her desk under the sun filled window, sketching and drawing, rubbing the pencil shading in with her fingers, running her leadened hands through her hair, mixing it all together with a deep rose that evokes antique furniture and old books, a library that insists its spices whisper. Then she sharpens her pencil, the wood and lead mingling in the air.

qianqian

Got a 10ml decanter. Safe to say I 'have' it, for now?

I also have The Portrait of a Lady by FM so I could do an easy comparison, one spray on each arm.

Epic is sweeter and less spicy than TPOL. The rose note is more prominent, and I can tell a tiny bit of fruity note. Epic is definitely more feminine than TPOL. Easier to wear as long as you use sparingly when going to the office.

Both frags are great in longevity! I get easily 4 hours with projection and becomes a skin scent lasting another 4 hours with both.

I suggest that you sample both and only pick the one you prefer. As they are 90% similar, I don't think it's necessary to get both in FB. Of course if you are a hardcore spicy rose lover however just go get both! They are masterpieces.

Xela_529

This is one of my favorite rose/oud/patchouli fragrances. Epic is very bold and elegant. She hits the nose slightly differently than other fragrances in this genre due to the hint of spiciness. Very Middle-Eastern and bold, but also very clean. The notes come together in perfect harmony. Remarkable work from Amouage. 💚

aspirina

This is a difficult one for me. Roses that have been covered with spicy caraway, intense green notes of geranium and tea, probably some sage? I get something slightly mentholated too, like eucalyptus. Incense and oud, resins. This scent is very complex and mature. I admire the craftmanship in it but a sample is more than enough for me. I think it needs more rose and maybe a drop of something sweet. It feels too agrestic for my taste.

Arion

What sorcery is this ?! It's absolutely a beautiful creamy wooden scent. So feminine. I absolutely love it

katie02kat

epic woman to me is a green, sweet floral, I also smell incense. A very intense and at the same time a perfume for everyday use...Lasts almost all day on my skin,I think it is also unisex,There are some masculine notes in it

SmellMyCheese

Blind bought this after seeing some reviewers I respect say it is not only unisex but really good, and to help me stop mourning the loss of Christopher Chong :)

They weren't wrong and I am kicking myself for limiting myself to the "Man" Amouage's for so long.

To me, this fragrance is defined by the tea note. It opens spiced ambery and a little floral, but once you hit the middle that tea accord is really amazing. When it finally dries down, you get a soft spiced vanilla to finish it off.

I love Epic Man too, but this one probably does the Silk Road theme even better than that.

I love this stuff! I get a tea vibe from it. Very classy. If anyone has a bottle they want to swap pls message me 😁

This fragrance combines the crisp cleanliness of a soapy breeze with a touch of musky depth. Picture a foggy morning, where the air is both refreshing and enigmatic. The mentholly undertones add a cool kick, making it an invigorating and unique scent. It's the perfect balance of freshness and mystery, creating a straightforward yet captivating fragrance experience. It's like stepping into a world where cleanliness meets allure, leaving you with a scent that defies the ordinary.

PKSMKE

A fellow perfume lover identified this as a potential substitute for the unattainable Sensuous Noir. It is -- after the first couple of minutes. Beautiful spicy amber fragrance.

I think this has been reformulated. I initially tested a boxed sample from Amouage that was probably the initial release. The box I bought has the new packaging and I think it is a little lighter performing.

wintersong0

I tested this on skin a few days after trying out Guidance. I adore Epic. To me, this feels like a safer version of Guidance. Lots of that pleasant feeling I still can't quite describe. The trade off is it feels a bit less versatile, less evocative, and less of the borderline insidious nuclear lasting power. Lasting power is amazing though. It's a high compliment in my eyes to be this comparable to Guidance. With Guidance I can definitely see why people would hate it, and I just might be on that borderline. It's pretty volatile even though I feel certain I want it as my signature despite the fact. Epic doesn't change as much throughout the wear. It's more trustworthy and I don't see anything about it that would make me dislike it.

toosimilar

Unfortunately, Epic woman is indeed EPIC.
But under certain weather conditions can be wearable

Miss Dolittle

Just bought this because of the reviews. It's not a strong as some say. It's beautiful. I smell an incense more than spice. Overall, I'm happy I purchased her.

Maya lilac

Very peculiar scent and far from a crowd pleaser. Also, too spicy and peppery for my liking. Epic is so intense and unexpected. I can smell a powdery rose and the green tea beside the spicy notes and probably the caraway seeds. Another note I am not familiar with but I am discovering through Amouage’s Epic. And also that’s what I don’t like about Epic.

It’s not an unpleasant smell but it is not my jam. Interesting, heavy, ambery and complex! Not quite sure how I feel about it. This fragrance is an epitomy of what acquired taste is.

massimilianoinquieto

Revontuli

A beautiful, jewel-green bottle which screams a spicy, deep fragrance but... I was expecting something much spicier and woodier, honestly. My skin brings all the powdery and sweet elements forward after the initial blast of spices. Tea is very detectable, a bit too much for my taste.

Sadly, this is not the rose I'm looking for. Too floral and powdery on my skin. I'm really jealous of those who can experience the spicy and dark face of this scent. However, the longevity is amazing!

AnastasiaGostieva

Fabulous! Got a compliment as soon as get out of my apartment haha Smells like a fresh piny cone with beautiful spices and soft olibanum. The base rich and woody but soften with subtle floral notes. I only have a tiny decant and now I need a full size ASAP :)

Deelecto

The wicked stepmother scent par excellence. A forbiddingly beautiful floral, with dark undercurrents of spice, and just so slightly sour.

Duckling

I first tried Epic Woman in 2018. I fell in love immediately but I couldn’t afford it back then. I’ve been thinking about it for the last 5 years and it’s on sale at the moment, so I finally got a bottle.

It still smells incredible, just as I remembered it, and I feel like Boudicca whenever I put it on. I’m instantly transformed into a conquerer, a vengeful and fearless queen of an ancient forest tribe.

People seem to classify this one as a fall or winter fragrance, but surprisingly, I’m enjoying it on hot summer nights as well. The warm weather makes the spices spicier and brings out a sultry, almost humid quality that feels exotic and unapologetically sexy.

Definitely worth the wait :)

Nessers

Quick note taking as I experience this fragrance. Number one. Instant damask Rose as soon as that fragrance hits my nose. Number two. I smell a very middle eastern oud. Fecal. But just for a couple of seconds. This was all in the first couple of minutes. 10 minutes into it and I am getting a lot of fresh spice. Pink pepper Black pepper kind of spice. To be honest, I can't tell you what caraway smells like in reference to what it smells like here. I get the geranium. Damask Rose envelops everything however and it's not my favorite note. Don't get me wrong, it smells great, but I am bored of fresh rose. Bathroom soap rose and stock photograph Rose. It's been over an hour now and I like it much more than I thought earlier. It has macerated and the overall composition has become jammy Turkish rose spice cabinet instead of traditional clean fresh rose. Still, not similar to noir de noir or oud ispihan. The niche quality is present and those who are experienced will understand what I mean. Epic Woman is a classic for a reason. There is an essence in the drydown that is very sexy. Very hard to describe. I couldn't see it at first, but now I can see the inspiration from the Silk Road. Or more specifically the Royal Road stemming from Persia in 500 BC. I assume since Amouage is legit they are going to go for the Persian version. I can go on for hours about certain spices like vanilla and the relationship to the road, but I don't think people are interested. Amouage are conscious creators and have intention for every note they include. I highly recommend Epic if you are into fresh spicy rose centered fragrances. If you are a collector like myself, I also recommend this because it shows you have good taste. Lol

amanda0727

I really love Cecile Zarokian and i can definitely sense her style in this perfume. Opens up incensy spicy and i definitely get the oud, but its a dry woody oud, not barnyard at all. I don't get much florals at this point. Dries down soapy, the spices/oud dissipated and this is when I start to sense the delicate rose. Reminds me of rose soap my grandma used. Very much not my style and i am glad i sampled first.

Fragaddict123

Now this is what amouage is all about
A reminder of the good old times that this brand once upon a time was one of the greatest houses that care about their craft
The spicy opening might be challenging for some but to my nose it’s a treat
The magic is definitely in the dry down rose oud at it’s finest I enjoyed it and I’m planning on getting a full bottle and I believe it deserves it
And what makes things better is my significant other loved it so much and that made my day
Performance is excellent projection is enough
A reminder of the glory days of amouage

Epic evokes the trade routes between Oman and China, creating a marriage between notes that refers to both of these fascinating cultures ... on one hand we have spicy, strong, decisive notes which, after embarking on their path, blend masterfully with notes such as tea, creating a truly remarkable fragrance.
In my opinion it is to be enjoyed and that's it. Appreciating this olfactory masterpiece and knowing its history, wearing it is very elegant, absolutely classy and distinctive.
Marco Polo said in Il Milione "I haven't written even half of the things I've seen".
Well it happened to me with this fragrance, I enjoyed it, totally savored it and I hope you do too.

Sophia97

It's name define the fragrance, literally EPIC! It's spicy, little sweet, and rosey yet fresh and very well balanced. It starts off very strong, but after it dries down it smells magical, it gets dark, peppery and very feminine. It was gifted me as a gift but when I went to buy the second bottle my heart stopped, the price was too much for me. Can Someone help this girl out and tell me the dupe of this fragrance please.

Shawn330

Beautifully crafted Arabian gem. This smells very natural compared to its compared counterpart POaL. This is less mature and more modern. Powdery, spicy, woody, and masterfully blended! Nothing is reaching out and grabbing me like that synthetic Ambroxan in POaL, don’t get me wrong I love POaL, but this perfume is not that. Same with MfK comparisons.. epic is much more natural, and soft.

Mohamed1897

Epic Man is probably my favorite Amouage.
How about this? Well it is very good tho it kinda feels like a subtle version of MFK oud satin mood to me.
Wont be getting a full bottle, gorgeous nonetheless.

saccitygrl01

I've had a sample of Epic for nearly a year now. I liked it from the start but it wasn't a love meriting the hefty price tag. However over time its become a scent I crave every now and again. When I put it on I find myself repeatedly burying my nose in my wrist to enjoy this unique fragrance.

It is carraway dominant on my skin. The other notes a so well blended they are indistinguishable to me save a subtle sheer rose note. I think calling this a dry medicinal herbal scent would be appropriate as it reminds me of entering a spice shop or tea shop that sells various tinctures for ones ailments. It also has that amouage unique fingerprint that seems to run through all its early releases. I don't know what it is but I love it.

This fragrance has won me over with time and its moved onto my 'to buy' list.

arefuthescroob

Lovely scent, the notes are very well blended.

lmnsvgz

A heavy, a little bit bitter rose-oud base. Spicy oud, not an "oily" one. The beginning is more fresh. there is this lightness that just turns into a darker rose spicy rose scent. Not my favorite out of the line but good nonetheless.

MarcGonevski

Amazing fragrance, not for everyone & I can't imagine a youngster rocking this.
it is a must for your timeless collection!
5/5
P.S. If this perfume was a car it would have been the Mercedes 300SL from 1967.

frag_nostalgia

Complex, mysterious, bold, rich, heady. This is honestly everything I've been looking for in a fragrance. A spicy, exotic, and balsamic amber rose without anything fruity. Dry, aromatic vanilla without the gourmand vibe. Not an overtly traditional feminine smell- which makes it perfect for me. 🖤

AlisonD

This is a masterpiece, plain and simple.

I love this fragrance.

It can be heavy so I need one spray only.

mohammad.anas.memon

What an epic scent (literally and figuratively) it turned out to be. I haven't tried Epic Man yet (boo hoo to me) but the woman's version is absolutely breathtaking and far from the "woman's" scent. This is what i hate about Amouages the most, their bifurcation of fragrances with respect to gender.

Epic Woman is a masculine scent, through and through. Just like the color of the bottle (which by the way is emerald green), the scent itself has a green tone to it. In the air, you mostly get rose and incense which might remind you of Fredrick Malle's masterpiece, Portrait of a Lady. But if you dig your nose close to your skin, you would get the true essence of this composition. You would get spices with cumin being the most prominent, pine tree, cinnamon, patchouli and most definitely labdanum.

Performance, on my skin, is good. It lasts for a good 6 hours with subtle projection. I'm assuming that my particular bottle is "newer" and it used to be a better performer. Nevertheless, I'm more than satisfied.
Recommendation? Absolutely yes. Infact, I would recommend everyone to check their entire women line because personally, i find those to be much more interesting.

redberry11

This is a very feminine rose, which blooms on the skin thanks to the vanilla + oud combination. To my nose, there are similarities to the MFK's Oud Satin Mood (this one is more refined) or to Neela Vermeire's Mohur (this one is less oriental/ more classic). Nothing unique (maybe it was when launched in 2009) but it's a nice execution.

amanda0727

Cumin is in the top notes, not caraway. Fragrantica seem to get notes wrong all the time. Best to check perfumer website.

The heavy spices on card scared me off for months, but when I gave the scent a full wear I liked it instantly. I've given the scent several full wears since then but it still confounds me. It's complex and full of character to explore, presenting new facets every time. I still need a few more full wearings to really get it.

On my most recent wear, the scent opens up with lemon-y incense (frankincense) and a light aromatic spice like cardamom. I smell nothing intense and savoury like fenugreek. Traces of dormant sweetness are apparent from the beginning, but it really blooms from the 15 minute mark. The dominant sweet accord mainly comprised of vanilla, but there's so much more to it. I can't help but use the word 'elevated'. Tamed rose and jasmine build on the sweetness, but even the incense play a role in lifting the vanilla (something I haven't experienced in a scent before). The scent is sweet, but so smooth! I'd even call it buttery, as elements from the base emerge. Sandalwood blends completely with the musk and vanilla, it's such a joy to smell. I love how smooth the guaiac wood smells too. However, my biggest qualm with the scent is the wispy texture of the scent I noticed from 1-2 hours. The scent isn't as heavy or present as the notes might even suggest. The scent does make its way to the 6 hour, in a barely-there manner. The base becomes a creamy, cedar musk that reminds me of Sycomore, pleasant but lacking presence.

Overall, despite the presence of incense and spices in Epic Woman, it is amongst the best in the Amouage range for wearability. It's a super beautiful scent that is only let down by its thin texture and middling performance. This is something I have even noticed in Epic 56, so I won't discount the possibility of anosmia. I'll will update the review if in fact it's a strong scent that others can smell on me.

This is my second scent from Amouage and second time disappointed? When I tested tester before I bought it I could smell really strong bossy scent . It was dark but very spicy, was cold but warm - really nice. I bought it but bottle gave me nothing maybe need to mature ? Is very weak on me. I think this fragrance have potential but missing a power .

Siyamala12

I call this my girl boss perfume because it has amazing projection. It is dark, exotic and unique . I had this bottle for 5 years and the quality of the parfum has not gone down at all. The quality speaks for itself.

jjluvsm9

Epic is a very luxurious scent. Very spicy, slightly sweet rose yet still fresh and well balanced. Oud lingers in the background but it doesn’t overtake the other notes which I love. Despite it being so luxe I still find it wearable and this one gets a lot of compliments, perhaps my most complimented scent. ❤️

Another win from Amouage. This house is swiftly becoming one of my favourites.

I see people comparing this to MFK Oud Satin Mood which a lot of people understandably find to be cloying (and in my opinion not very complex) but to me they are not similar this is more spicy and fresh, OSM is more heavy on sweet vanilla and is not spicy at all to my nose. Epic is much more of a masterpiece with many layers also, where OSM is mostly jammy rose and vanilla with a hint of overly synthetic Western oud, lacking in character .

My rating: 9.5/10
Bf rating: 8.7/10

Ferra_Verto

Spicy rose-oud bonanza; dark rose petals drenched in darkly thick and intense oud oil dusted topped with a dusting of cinnamon & caraway powder. Opens a touch medicinal and supremely spicy, but the medicinal aspect tapers off to reveal that rose-oud combo that persists beautifully. As intense as this combo is, there's a distinct & contrasting airiness to it that I very much enjoy.
Best suited for cool/cold weather, potentially may work in spring.
Lasts for ages (12+ hrs) on skin and clothes.

AI write-up, pretty accurate:

Amouage epic woman

Amouage Epic Woman is a legendary scent from perfumer Amouage. It was released in 2011 and has since become one of the most beloved and sought-after fragrances in the world.

Epic Woman is not a typical “floral” fragrance and it is certainly not light or airy in any sense; it packs a powerful punch and radiates its complexity with each whiff. This is a mature fragrance that is perfect for formal occasions or evening events. Epic Woman starts off with top notes of bergamot, pink pepper, and elemi, which give this scent an exotic beginning. It then transitions into heart notes of rose, tuberose, and jasmine, which bring an underlying sweetness. The base notes of this fragrance consist of sandalwood, incense, patchouli, and musk, which provide the perfect base to balance out the sweetness of the florals and the punch of the spices.

Epic Woman has been described as dark, mysterious, and exotic. It has moderate longevity and sillage, but it is worth every penny. The beautiful packaging of green and gold adds to the luxurious experience of wearing this fragrance and is the perfect complement to the scent itself.

Epic Woman is a complex yet perfectly blended fragrance that will turn heads wherever you go. It is a timeless classic that will always bring you compliments and make you feel confident and beautiful.

I mainly smell caraway and rose here which is not a bad thing. Its so divine and has that balanced nuance that’s hard to accomplish in a perfume (oh look at me, talking technical lol). It’s definitely been reformulated in my opinion but what makes it epic is still there. One of my favourites from this house.

CeeTee

My impression:

Opens a bit camphorous, with slightly medicinal oud, almost like an apothecary. I enjoy this facet a lot. Then, it becomes an aromatic, rose oud combo. The geranium and clove are perfect additions to the rose/oud profile. This is simultaneously heady and grounding. So balanced between the medicinal, herbal quality and the deep red rose and woods.

It performs well in terms of longevity. Its a rich, dense bubble. It sits a little closer to the skin than I typically go for, but it’s a marvel of a fragrance, and 100% worth having! While I do love it, my budget will make do with the 10ml. ☺️

Sniffathon

Spectacular opening, the caraway is unexpectedly magical with slight sweetness from the floral. Progresses to a gorgeous rose and geranium combo (one of my faves!) with spicy tea and patchouli poking through, carried by the depth of the oud. There’s a softness to it whispering in the background, like the tender side of a strong and epic woman. VERY oriental, very spicy, and takes you on a journey. Strong and loud perfume if over-sprayed. Unisex in my opinion. Absolutely love the craftsmanship and uniqueness, this is bold and soft at the same time. A little too oriental for my personal tastes but spectacular nonetheless.

raiza1990

This smells really nice. Sweet and rich. A sensual and feminine fragrance for winter. It’s good to see a woody scent that is so soft and feminine. It’s really pleasant and relaxing. Something to wear by the fireplace with your significant other. Sadly, it’s too expensive for me. Anyways, really great!

bexxrossy

Perfection.

Spicy89

A beautiful scent of rose and green notes. A really lovely complex and interesting scent.

Edit: Preformance is sadly lackning, very close to the skin and longevity of about 5-6 hours.

neonaya

Opens with fresh cut dill scent and then quickly turns into rich bitter herb composition that on my skin sounds sometimes like pine sap, sometimes like artemisia with hay. I would use this perfume while wearing sporty chic style outfit cause it’s fresh enough, but complicated. In approximately an hour the scent becomes sweeter and sweeter until you hear nothing but sweet soft powdered wood. Very pleasant, but on my skin lasts 2 hours max. I don’t know if it worth buying a bottle, but 10ml decant is a must for my collection.

MademoiselleMaya

My favourite from the brand, by far. I fell for it during fast test in a niche parfumery - just a sniff from the bottle, one of many that day and that's a bingo ;) I immediately memorized it, and finally happened on a sample. Now, I'am sure which Amouage caught my attention.
Classy, well-structured, dense with spices and uneuropean aromas, a promise of a new land, different of the known one. Raising admiration and curiosity. Giving comfort, even in hottest weather and luxurious feeling of it being crafted by a master.

mmmmgood

I was compelled to post again, even tho' I already have. So, Im correcting a post below...and Im also responding to a poster, who fears Epic may have been reformulated 1) THERE IS NOTHING OLD SPICE-LIKE, ABOUT EPIC...nor does it smell like 'Deep Woods'. Epic is an acquired taste and is chock full of 'erotica'...and nothing about it, evokes the smell of a barbershop, in my opinion. And Ive worn my share of 'barbershop-vibe" scents, in my lifetime.

2) I bought my bottle from the Maxaroma site...and got lucky, I suppose. As a first time purchaser on the site, I got a great discount that marked Epic down to 160 bucks...and in my life, I've worn it enough to know if its lost any punch or integrity. It has not. I can't speak for what it'll smell like 5 yrs from now...but the bottle I bought 2-3 months ago has a lifespan, well into double digits. I STILL believe it was 'made by the Gods'. And unlike other perfumes that have been reformulated, I can LITERALLY smell nearly every note in this fragrance. And you just dont get that with a scent, that has been flipped and flopped and watered down.

so if Epic Woman has been reformulated...the nuances of reformulation in this perfume, are minute. On me, this is an extremely long-lasting skin scent. I've clocked it at 15 hrs longevity, where 6 in from my nose, I could smell it on my arm. And my wrists, don't carry perfumes well at all, generally speaking.

mrr

I've been using this fragrance as a man for almost ten years, I have a lot of good memories attached to it, I remember how mesmerized I was when I smelled it for the first time. Unfortunately, over the years, its price has now almost doubled, while nothing else has changed except for the creative director of the brand.
Sometimes I read things that it has been reformulated and is weaker, if my current bottle runs out, I will check out the currently available version, but I'm sadly not sure if it's still worth buying this in 2022.

BellaElle

At the opening, it was a hybrid of Old Spice and Deep Woods Off. Waaaay too masculine for my taste. I couldn't wait to wash it off. Within 5 minutes, I was getting clean shave cream. Something in me wanted to explore it more, even though my brain was telling me that this was NOT going to work for me. 25 minutes in and I've had enough. It is definitely shave cream. I don't get even a remote whiff of anything feminine. It is a man straight from the barbershop. That might work for some people, but it defintely isn't my cup of tea.

TheSenseOfSmell

First off, I am a man.

Let me tell you, whoever you are, or where ever you are right now, this is a phenomenal fragrance and it 100% represents me. My, credo is to follow your heart, so yeah, no wonder this bottle is green. After having smelled hundreds if not 1000s of different perfumes only the fragrances/smells that I have connected with something from the past (emotion, locations, etc.) have a strong uncontrollable reaction. This has that as well and as someone who created perfume, studied and worked in this metier, this means a lot for me. I am obsessed with Epic Woman, I don't care about the notes or what other people write, if it's marketed towards women etc., all I care about is having a reason to wear perfume, and this (since I have found and obtained it) means subsequently wearing Epic Woman EdP.

You're utterly most welcome, people who smell me on the street!

This is a hidden gem. You will be smelled as if you wore Sauvage EdT or some 80s vintage perfume, with the difference that nothing quite smells like this. Nevertheless, this should have the same popularity, polarization or magnitude as Baccarat Rouge and I don't have a single doubt about that (and absolutely zero bias, of course, 😉).

It completely flew under the radar because it is marketed towards women and has a male sibling.
Lucky for me, that's why this fragrance hasn't garnered more talk, but also because it is mostly men that run and popularize fragrances online and they don't even bother to smell the woman's version,if Amouage comes out with the masculine-looking male counterpart.
But women know. I was told by a sales assistant in Dubai that Epic Woman EdP is Amouages third best-selling fragrance and to be fair I don't know if this stat is only for the woman's fragrances or all their line-up. Either way, that means quite something.

Now that I am at the end of my review, let me share a lesson with the ones that still are looking for their perfect perfume:
Smell/sample (if you can't smell it in store) before you buy. It saves money.

Cheers

edit: notice how some people in the comments below also perceive this less as perfume but more as magic..

allthatis_barelythere

On my skin the opening is very spicy, almost peppery, which isn’t something I love. Then I get the soft woody notes from the base. The rose note doesn’t come out until a few minutes later, and then becomes a little more green as well. Big projection at first, but sits quite close to skin after that.

Enrium

After sampling a few unimpressive Amouage offerings, this scent is a return to form of sorts. Epic is well-named - a bold, spicy, opulent rose-oud scent that is unisex despite its marketing. It has facets of Lyric (spicy rose) and Fate (a beautiful woody-amber drydown) but centred around an oud note, which is a nice nod to the brand's Middle Eastern heritage. I'm not a lover of oud, but I appreciate a well-placed oud note in a rich perfume such as this. The rose-oud accord here is perfection - rounded out by other high-quality ingredients, and balanced nicely. For instance, Epic is much better than the oud-centred Frédéric Malle Desert Gems collection in my opinion.

Epic opens with a warm spicy accord on a herbal, aromatic background. The spices are sweet - cinnamon is immediately evident, and the caraway note reminds me of an artisan ice-cream of that flavour I enjoyed once. The balance is beautiful and it is almost masculine-leaning here. The oleander note is in the background, providing some powdery sweetness, paving the way for the rose at its heart.

As it develops, the rose note emerges, rich and dark. I don't get much jasmine, but geranium enhances the herbal quality from the opening, giving it a peppery lift along with a fresh tea note. Rose is king, however, bolstered by the restrained yet rich oud note. The rose-oud accord is one of the best I've encountered, and is more than palatable to people who are sensitive to oud. The spices round it out beautifully.

The oriental drydown is beautiful - woody, spicy and slightly sweet. Vanilla enhances the amber, and smooth sandalwood and some powdery florals round it out. A hint of patchouli adds earthiness, and it fades to a musky amber skin scent eventually. Sillage is reasonably strong and longevity is decent (as is fairly typical of Amouage).

A rose-oud perfume of the highest quality, Epic is excellent - extroverted yet elegant. Regal and opulent, it is somehow queenly, but is unisex, depending on preferences. I possibly prefer Lyric at a push, but that is simply a matter of personal opinion. A perfume of epic proportions. 4.5/5.

SANDYDE

This is dope. Very well blended and great performance. Lasts all day. Love it. 100% unisex.

Ruby Galore

I applied it in the morning before work at 7am, now, after 12 hours my skin smells like geranium, amber, vanilla and patchouli, herbal sweet, intoxicating. Sooo nice.
I love such ‘loyal’ perfumes that I can count on all day.

Ruby Galore

Smells like dark oil of wood, geranium, rose, amber and vanilla, smells thick, warm, has sweetness.

Nocciola23

I received this as a blind sample so had no expectations when i first tried it. I actually had never heard of it but now I'm obsessed. It is deliciously unusual and bold. It starts off very very strong, and at first I wasn't convinced, but the dry down, omg the dry down. Heaven. Spicy, peppery, dark but definitely feminine.
I never thought I would be tempted by more spicy notes (caraway and pepper) but this is one of a kind. Hats off to Amouage for this, it has transformed my perfume preferences completely. Has to be smelled to be believed.

barry1052

This to me is a deeper version of le labo 31!
Have to spend more time with it

osy2017

This perfume demands respect! I can't detect the rose everyone is talking about, probably I am used to more sweet rose, but here is more sour. I guess rose only comes up when you apply perfume directly on the skin. Caraway, black pepper, cinnamon, and woods for me. It is very green in the beginning, spicy and woody towards the end. Put this on and your fragrance will be the only one standing in the room. If you do not like attention, just stay away. This is Epic!

mrsoutlaw

This fragrance is definitely spicy. The overwhelming woody and spicy fragrances make this a more unisex fragrance. It has a bit of a greenness to it in the background and the oud does kick in as the fragrance completely dries down on you skin.

Before_Sunrise

WOW!! What a longlasting beast! 2 whole days in my wrist and still lingers! It's beautiful, unisex oriental rose and absolutely epic!
nevertheless I would never buy a full bottle. This is hands down special and smells expensive and unique, only not for me, there is something in there that feels too masculine, rigid, firm.

PS: my decant spray is 10 years old and still smells fresh(WHAT A QUALITY BRAND).

Pnkllr

Definitely so sexy and unique. I can not describe what i smell but absolutely amazing

PerfumedParrot

I like this BUT I was expecting it to last like most other Amouage creations, but it doesn’t power-through for more than a few hours on me (I have an official bottle). I’ve even tried it with an in-store tester and it still doesn’t last, which is very disappointing. It’s a pleasant musky rose with woody pencil shavings, subtle spices and a whispering smoulder, but that’s its pinnacle. It’s very subtle, soft and almost smells oily. I wanted to love this (like so many others do) but it fails to perform on my skin. Bring-on Epic 56 I guess.

RainbowGirl

I find this fragrance difficult to describe. It is fresh, green, and spicy. A little bit like citrus tea, a little like a spicy carnation (not a listed note, just a comparison) and a little like fresh mint...also not a listed note. It is a beautiful fragrance. Quite unique. Just lovely.

dcjimr

Cinnamon, rose, oud, and amber are the major notes I detect. Absolutely gorgeous and absolutely unisex.

iszzieanna

I wasn't sure what to expect when sampling Epic and to be quite honest, I overlooked this for a while. Now that I've fallen in love with Cécile Zarokian's works. I decided to give it a shot. From outside the sample, it smells only of rose and oud. Two notes that I must be careful with after liking them too much, and buying too many, then realizing it makes your stomach churn. (We've all done that).

But I was pleasantly surprised that the first note, on my skin, was a very green caraway with amber. This continued for around an hour, mixing with spices and seeming very oriental on my skin.It is difficult to express the complexities of this fragrance. I am not the most familiar with orientals, but if they are anything like Epic Woman, I think I can grow to love them. As the amber-caraway dies down, I really do smell the journey between Arabia and China with this green tea-oud facet that comes through. It is incredibly calming. Nearing the dry down, the damask rose shows itself in full force. As you've guessed, the 100ml bottle has already been secured. Amouage is just taking all my money now

FragtastiK

I will be buying a bottle of this goodness, Definitely unisex.

jaifaraisi

Rose at its best! It’s definitely unisex
My favorite Amouage so far

*Updated Review*

-Epic opens as a feminine amber fragrance with a hint of spice.
-With nary a warning, Epic announces her entrance rather boldly with a blast of incense and spice loud enough to command the attention of anyone in a 3ft radius.
-One might have imagined Epic to be unassuming and soft-spoken--based entirely on the initial impression it exuded as a soft, spicy amber fragrance.
-Well, they thought wrong. When Epic steps out of the shadows to reveal her true glory, Epic embodies class, confidence and a commandeering attitude. (the heart-notes).
-Epic is a fragrance for the opinionated individual who isn't afraid to speak their mind; Epic stands brave in the face of adversity.
-A scent for the ambitious individual, Epic sets out to achieve one milestone after another, constantly soaring to reach new heights.
-With the conquest of each foe, Epic leans back in a plush Cabriole sofa.
-Slender arm outstretched, Epic casually swirls a delicious glass of spiced whiskey.
-This is where Epic kicks back; bringing the spice down a couple of notches. (It's almost as if Epic is intent on returning us almost-too-nonchalantly to the opening).
-We are now back in the opening phase where the geranium and tea notes are front and center; dancing in harmony with amber.
-Epic is truly a timeless masterpiece by the house of Amouage.
-Absolutely signature worthy. (+)

I was lucky to visit the Amouage factory on a trip to Oman. I asked one of the women who worked there what her favorite perfume was and she immediately pointed to Epic Woman. Without her recommendation I might not have tried Epic, as I'm not typically drawn to carraway and cinnamon. Epic is so much more than its individual notes though. It opens a little bright and peppery, with a hint of rose. Then the spices and resins appear. Epic stays pretty linear after that, but is never dull - it's beautifully blended and complex. Like moving through a market in Oman, encompassed by strong scents from the stalls of flowers, spices, frankincense, oils and wood - all blurring together in the dry heat, with a bit of both honey and stink in the mix. Even though it contains smells of the market, Epic has a timeless, expansive feel that evokes the open desert as well. I don't reach for this in the wet spring and fall months, but prefer it in winter or summer. I think it's a unisex day or evening scent. 1-2 spritz, max - will project and last all day. Probably not a safe blind buy, but Epic is high-quality and full of feeling.

ingeneuxo

-Epic opens with a watery quality to it.
-Soft, elegant amber notes are well-blended with a hint of spice that never threatens to veer into masculine territory.
-Epic is hands down my favourite from the house of Amouage. (+)

emilyjxne

In the main I get amber, spices & rose. Quite feminine for a resinous amber. I’m bored of this note at the moment but Epic isn’t gourmand so it’s a little different - it’s a fresh green floral which I appreciate. The performance is nice but not for me.

Labwuh

Epic Woman by Amouage.

This is a complex but beautiful spices oriental.

There is a slight cumin scent but not in a goumand way and the rose is shy but geraniums and jasmine are somewhat harsh almost unforgiven giving you an instant headache. However, there is no denying that this is a luxurious perfume its just you have to approach it with care.

Beware this is a beast and your presence will be noticed!

It's a bold, mysterious scent giving an aura of a lost empire the likes of: The Tang Dynasty where the caravans travelled along the trade route with their perfumes to the Imperial China Palace.

Sample first.

indriq

I'm sorry I really dislike it.
For about two hours I smell nothing but caraway. Overwhelming hard aggressive caraway, I find it not a bit feminine. Nor masculine, either. Just very unpleasant. Later on, jasmine comes out with some incense, sometimes oud pops up, but maybe it's just my imagination. The violent caraway returns in waves. I still don't find it pleasant. I could perhaps imagine it wearing by a woman in suit, buttoned up tightly to the neck. The sound of her steps in stiletto heels makes all her colleagues and subordinates and even her boss, freeze.
It lasts for ages, you can't get rid of it by taking shower, scrubbing, nuclear blast...

YlangLover0912

There are a lot of words to describe the love that I have for this perfume.
Everything is beautiful about it , the shape , the color, the golden details and even it’s package.

I don’t know with precision what is the smell of caraway, but all the aromatic composition reminds to emerald jewelry , specially the famous ring from Hurrem ( one of the main characters from a Turkish tv program).

This perfume is elegant , feminine , romantic, with a distinctive Middle Eastern vibe.

From my collection , it is my second favorite, it has the perfect balanced rose note composition.

The rose note in this perfume is somewhat aquatic, “green-fresh”( thanks to the geranium) , it is like tasting a very exclusive rose tea, with Middle Eastern spices.

The oud is not sharp , it is warmth , it embraces the floral notes providing them some masculinity.

It last hours in the fabrics , letters and different kind of leather goods.

It is a perfume that can be applied during all seasons , specially during the evening and midnight, or during the day when it is cloudy.

For me , and for the moment it is the best rose perfume that I ever know or acquire; definitely I will buy it again because I have to confess , it is very addictive, specially for rose lovers.

Do not combine it with gourmand perfumes , because the geranium will create a very particular aromatic composition that not all will tolerate.

It is the perfect perfume for a formal and romantic meeting for the people who love roses and middle eastern spices.

I knew I had to get a full bottle almost immediately after trying the sample. It’s not something I wear on a daily basis though, but when I do, it really sets the mood. My review might be a mess since it’s really hard to find the right words for a scent that seems to be the literal embodiment of beauty to me.
Cumin is dominant at first but it doesn’t give off those old lady vibes, it blends well with other spices, creating this fresh yet intricate scent instead. Rose is present but it’s not overwhelming; actually, Epic was the very fragrance that made me fall in love with roses in perfumes.
It’s a unique blend of spices and flowers and it gets complimented a lot. Longevity is impressive on my not so warm skin; it also leaves you with an absolutely heavenly drydown on your hair.
The color of the bottle seems to fit the smell itself since this is such a “fresh” rose, Epic being this wild, eccentric yet chic younger sister of Lyric to my nose. If you enjoy both roses and spices, it’s a must-try!

brokesta911

Amouage Epic (2009) - Smokey Rose - Perfumers #angelineleporini #danielmaurel @cecilezarokianparfumeur creates one of the most beautiful Incense fragrances. It comes in whiffs, yet very complex. Frankincense, Rose, Spicy/sweet Caraway and Cinnamon. In the base I get Tea, Patchouli, Geranium, and Sandalwood. Powerful and emotional.

blossomka

7.5/10. Hard to describe. Spicy, fruity. The spice is not middle eastern but European and a little Christmassy. Warm. More like to eat it than wear it. But wearing is alright too. Sweet and fruity wood with a bit of flower. Marine and sweet wood after time.

FenElfyre

This is beautiful, conceptual, and strange. I’m not sure that I would love it as much as I do, except that it perfectly encapsulates the (admittedly obscure) combination of subterranean limestone water and roll-on insect repellant, and so irresistibly reminds me of a wonderful childhood field trip to Jenolan Caves. Probably for this reason, I’m not crazy about the final third of the scent evolution, when it starts to pull vanilla, but that still leaves me a good five hours of damp, haunting magic.

Ruby Galore

Juicy, herbal, strong, strong like Poison.
Aromatherapy. Rolling over a thousand spices and forest soil.
Crowded.

I put it on my hair to fly after me;)

englishrose96

This perfume smells expensive. Im not a huge fan of the initial spray, which is slightly too peppery for me (Fragrantica describes this as Fresh Spicy, and that’s 100% what it initially smells like) and the tea comes across as slightly medicinal. But then you get to the dry down, which settles on powdery, incense, with some form of citrus keeping it fresh, and rounded off with some beautiful Jasmine. My first dip into Amouage, and i’m very relieved that if it smelled of anything, it at least smelled expensive.

Siv7Stars

This was like opening a bottle of pop, there was something immediately fizzy about the first spray of it. It's spicy fruity woody. No particular notes stand out except perhaps geranium. It's timeless as opposed to just old fashioned.. It isn't very sexy though. At least not to me. It says polished all day all seasons, it's not too serious but brisk, cheerful n capable. It's a posh auntie who isn't much older than you but is fun, great company n also wiser n gives good advice, gets the bill, n tells you to keep your chin up n fight on n you feel buoyed up for a while even when they leave.
Addendum: Good sillage, long lasting, can still smell on clothes until you wash them.

xvxmatthewxvx

the opening is fresh spicy, woody, rosy, powdery, vanillic, orangey
the heart smells like a rosy cream-sicle, after several hours sweet cinnamon stands out

danygurl06

The further away I put this fragrance from my nose the better it smells. It doesn’t stink but it’s an unusual smell. It has a dill seed/pickle smell similar to Marc Jacobs Decadence. I’m guessing that is the caraway since plum is not listed.

Up close, It smells like a juicy sweet pickle mixed with perfume. But if I keep my nose at least 6 inches away, I get wafts of something mildly sweet and powdery. I can definitely smell the geranium. It smells like the essential oil.

This is less challenging than memoir, but I don’t think that I’ll ever wear it out. It gives me a headache even though it isn’t really sharp. I’m lost on what to call this. I don’t think unisex fits. I honestly can’t imagine who would wear this. If this perfume were to be called Alien instead of Mugler’s creation, I would find the name very fitting.

bel.gravia

Green, spicy and full of incense with just a hint of flowers. Big, loud, intense.

maarg

On my skin (and let me repeat for everyone hitting the 'dislike' button, on MY skin), it is a very faint, dry tea plus churchy incense concoction, completely bereft of any sweetness (with maybe a slight touch of florals, but with the fragrance being so muted on my skin, it's hard to detect them). I don't know if it's my skin or my nose (or both), but Amouage and I don't seem to get along (I tested Epic alongside Interlude Woman, which I disliked even more).

Cherry_Darling

Wow this has taken my breath away too. How did I miss this at the amouage stands? I'm sure I have smelled it but I glossed over it, when it's really right up my alley. The opening reminds me of my favourite incense frag, a very spicy temple incense, pink pepper which is in the description but not note pyramid. It should be, these two notes combined are amazing. The caraway isn't really punchy or "sweaty" kind of blends in with the cinnamon and spice. I'm not getting a distinct rose, but it's definitely floral, especially the drydown when the spicy opening has calmed down. Complex scent, vert nuanced and interesting. Oud is not overpowering or barny, tea is quite noticeable.

mmmmgood

A TON of incense....that Catholic, churchy incense, too.

This is just one man's opinion...but to my mind, as much as I love Amouage, there are but a handful, that have really taken my breath away. 1) Gold Man 2) Interlude Woman 3) Library Opus V & VI and Epic Woman. Epic Woman, is, literally, a masterpiece. And like Interlude Woman, it smacks of something made by "the gods".

alfrued

I will not describe and rate the notes here, I’ll just tell my story with this epic smell.
Few years ago, during a hot & humid evening in a tropical country, I was relaxing in the pool, then I started to get wafts of a regal perfume from 25~30 feet away, I checked out who was wearing this, I found an Arab lady just sat by the pool.
I asked my wife to ask the lady what she was wearing, she said “amouage” just amouage,
I became obsessed and tried to find this perfume everywhere, I’ve tested many of amouage to name it, I ended up buying 5 for men those I loved, but without finding this particular one.
I thought it is something exclusive in Oman, but once the boutique restocked epic man & woman I immediately recalled the smell and bought it.
I’m looking for an upgrade and will get myself extrait version for extreme silage. Don’t get me wrong, with 2 sprays from EDP version and the trail stays for hours after i leave the house, but that woman I could smell her 10 meters away in a tropical weather, that is extreme.

bintTapputi

Very beautiful. What I have always hoped for from Amouage. Dry, spicy, ambery vanilla with some earthy/herbly lingering notes. It's not loud or noisy, very elegant and rather soft. It's a lovely, relaxed oriental. I think it's very unisex and I think it would suit any season. Perfect for oriental lovers who want something less boisterous. Great work! 8.5/10

alfanan

Amouage Epic Woman by Amouage is an oriental floral fragrance for women presented in 2009. Top notes are caraway, pink pepper and cinnamon, middle notes are rose, geranium, jasmine and tea, base notes are amber, vanilla, incense, iris, patchouli, oud, Musk, sandalwood, guaiac wood and frankincense.
And now, come with me on a journey over the magic rug of this bright fragrance, and on an Arab night with a warm breeze, the smell of angelic roses and the middle of a world of aromatic dreams, and after completing the scene at the first spray of perfume, your nose will pick up a soft wave of spices, where caraway, pink pepper, cumin and cinnamon were blended brilliantly With honey, hot cumin, incense, tea and flowers in a direct way, in a mixture of the finest things in the universe, indeed it is like a caring touch, when wearing it forget the mortal world, and in the drought stage you will find more vanilla, lute, frankincense and cinnamon in a very good performance, and to complete the story You will find roses beautifully present, and the soft oud is secondary with incense and no substitute, but it is balanced with roses in an excellent and picturesque degree and evidence, it is certainly a woman who loves uniqueness and distinction, an oriental and attractive woman without prejudice, and at the base when approaching farewell moments with fragrance, you feel that Patchouli does not contradict roses, but it wraps around them like a soft veil full of promises, which adds a little darkness as the most beautiful in existence, which in turn occurs in this stage harmony and harmony You can color the cheeks, and you will find the perfect perfume in any season because it has no limits, and in any occasion and at any time, it is not obstructed by dams, which is an ideal and wonderful evening scent. And a wonderful oriental scent calls for harmony, with a very long life for the right person, whether miss or madame, and luxurious, seductive and emotionally impressive, and wearing it on cold nights has a fruitful reality, especially if you wear it on a moonlit night.

zu_misha88

I love this glorious scent so much I have the FB 100ml and matching body cream. Lasts 24 hours for sure. Starts with a mentholly fresh rose burst on my skin. It is so well balanced the notes are indistinguishable from each other as it moves from top, middle and bottom phases. As a fair skinned person, on me, it is a bright scent that I wear day or night in any season. It is never heavy and does not turn cloying on my skin. Great sillage; lots of compliments.

Be warned, it is not a girly nor introverted scent. Entirely unisex. For reference, the other amouage scents i love and have FBs of are: Epic, Beach Hut woman, Journey woman, lyric woman and Bracken woman.

gatsby

One of the most beautiful Amouage I have. Definitelly more interesting and beautiful than Epic men. Totally unisex, the crayon vibe is simply stunning. I don t detect any oud, thanks God. Longrvity is unbelievable, 14 hours, It still can be detected around me. 2-3 sprays maximum, othervise it can transform into a real disaster. Pity I cannot count more, I have to go to the shower :)). I own a magnetic Oman edition ( batch A22963B352).I supose it is a 2014-2015 edition. I am curious to find out if all the Epic editions are made in Oman, also some opinnions about recent buyers, I want to buy another one. Thank you!

molly1217

top notes handed, tough, weight odor oppresses me, so I was a bit scared before the transfer. Not smell cinnamon, except caraway, plus also really want to know what? Taste can be so magnificent! A long time, until the middle notes, Epic Woman slowly soft, is my favorite part, rose, geranium and tea exudes a sweet, like fruit, here amber and oud low-key, it like double bass. Amouage art, the art of perfume ...... Epic, indeed Epic! Should give it 200 points.

Neosmiaphyte

Unisex woody, smoky oud

samsara1977

Very nice smokey scent. In my days we had The Iceberg Scent for less money... very similar.

an.jorePipip

It smells like "old money" lady that enjoying her life. Bold and expensive scent.

theuntrainednose

Smoky, deep, alluring rose, woods and spices. And striking resinous notes sometimes. Dark, comforting, serene but in a regal, almost divine way. The wood notes are very prominent and bitter, almost oily, and the spices come and go, almost medicinal, not sweet at all. Sometimes the rose comes to the front, warm and powdery.

A poem. Sensual worship in the shape of a fragrance.

I want it!

Update: lasts more than 24 hours as a skin scent even after a shower!

----

Thanks to a generous fragrantican who sent me a surprise drop of this preciosity, I am able to test it and enjoy :)

----

Quite intense, fills a room. I love it. My brother hates it, though.

JackieBabs

When I first tried this, the scent was almost so outstanding, it was intimidating! It's like that gorgeous, warm and kind friend that speaks their mind and stands out in a crowd. The spiciness of the cinnamon and vanilla come out strong at the start with a hint of the smokey oud to come and as it dries down through the jasmine (I can only smell it for a short time) it settles into a really well balanced perfume that hangs out on my skin so warm and feminine without being a facefull of potpourri. Very worthy of a full bottle buy.

Zentocs

It was my firs Amouage love but it's not a lovely perfume. Insted of this I'm very happy and calm when I'm wearing it.Strange one and I ned it...:)Strong caraway scent with other spieces.

Otjello

Fantastic and totally unisex (i'm male)! I pick up spicy cumin, incense, tea and flowers directly from the opening. In the drydown much more vanilla, aoud, olibanum and cinnamon. Very good performance, sillage is an arm's length and longevity is 12h +. Very nice and good...EPIC that is !!! Love. 94

Gvantsa_2905

Epic extract de parfum is my second Amouge after Interlude. This is my treasure and gem, my love of the rest of my life. Where have I been for 10 years?

The scent is all about spices, rose and incense. I find it perfect for any season, any occasion, any time. Longevity 12+ hours, silage is also more than average. I constantly get compliments from my husband when I wear it. Beautiful, different, deep, interesting, alluring...

Kitt3nReturns

This is simultaneously a great "beginner" spicy/smoky real middle eastern oud-rose (as opposed to the western ones which can tend to be, for lack of a better term, neutered) and a really unique, special take on the genre. It's powerful, exotic and super super sexy. Actually, sultry is an even better word. It's a sultry evening scent, perfect for occasions when you want to turn heads, especially date nights, for lovers of eastern scents, but it's not too much for noses used to only western perfumes. People around you will love this and want to get closer. Oh and the cumin here smells like straight up sex, but never too much. Just an ultra erotic hint, like a wink in the middle of a sultry cloud of deep red roses, oud, and incense smoke. Possibly my favorite amouage, definitely up there.

cocofluff

I'm currently sampling Epic Woman and WOW! It's a strong, wonderful refined, rosy/oudy spice bomb. I'm not surprised at all to fall in love with it. It is indeed Epic! To me it has a Portrait of a Lady vibe as they're both smoky patchouli rose fragrances. I love the laid back (friendly/non-skanky) oud and incense used in Epic Woman. Overall excellent quality and great oriental fragrance with great longevity. -

missk

For someone that has been reviewing fragrances for almost a decade, I am surprised that I have only just scratched the surface with the house of Amouage. In the last few years, I have added Jubilation 25 and Memoir for Women to my collection, which led to my decision to explore more from their feminine range to see if there were others that struck my fancy. Epic for Women with its striking emerald-green bottle was on the top of my list to sample.

Epic Woman by Amouage is a spicy rose and incense fragrance. Orientals and incense-based fragrances are some of my favourite perfume genres, and although I found Epic Woman extremely pleasant on the skin, I don't love it as much as I thought I would.

I find the dominant cumin note a little off-putting. When blended with the black tea accord, the spiciness found in Epic Woman smells like an aromatic, Mexican dish on my skin rather than the sensual, alluring and exotic scent that I had hoped to find. Cumin as a fragrance note doesn't seem to work particularly well with my skin chemistry and tends to smell more like body odour rather than the beautiful spicy note that the perfumer intended.

On the right person, Epic Woman has the potential to be both opulent and alluring. As one would expect from an Amouage fragrance, Epic Woman is complex, dense and elegant. Despite the cumin note being a strong fixture in this fragrance's composition, Epic Woman also features dusty rose, smoky incense, dry-green patchouli, herbal tea and a touch of sour unsweetened vanilla.

Whilst Epic Woman is a hard-pass for me, I still consider it a valuable asset to the Amouage line. There is no denying that Amouage is consistent with creating stellar oriental fragrances.

LadyIva

Mmmm, wonderful! This is an oriental fragrance, in the best possible sense of the word. Basically Amouage Epic is all about a curried sweet rose, which dries down to powdery-resinous goodness. This is officially 'warm spicy', however the scent is rather cold, somehow abstract, and certainly very evocative. The spicy notes (caraway, cumin, cinnamon, pepper) dominate in all stages of its development, and the drydown is almost gourmandish, with rose-flavoured lokum (Turkish delight) and sweet vanilla. It also reminds me of the smell of some aromatic fragrance sticks.
As expected from the house of Amouage, the scent is very long lasting and projects magnificently. Yes it is expensive, but in this case the customer is paying for the premium quality perfume.

HOUSTONHOUSTON

1.If you dislike caraway seeds - do not bother. This note is prominent.
2. Ut is easy to describe scent: spicy rose.
3. Long lasting. Buy small decant. You wont need a huge bottle.
4. If you are choosing between Ciel woman and Epic woman (blind buy), go with Epic. Ciel smells like cheap "impression off" something. My least favorite from Amouages.

GabbieSmithWindley

This is awesome! I think I may have found my perfect spicy rose. Portrait of a Lady smelled sweaty and somewhat sour on my person, and I was thinking this may end up the same, but it's very different. I get more of the spices when I smell it up close, the scent that's projected is more of the rose and francinsense. I'm not finding this to be as loud as it's rated, sillage for me is more so moderate. But maybe it's not quite cold enough to experience it's full power? Will have to see how that goes. Overall I'm loving this and glad it doesn't smell like something is cooking.

Carpe Noctem

I adore Epic Man but it’s too manly on me so I tried this sample. It would be beautiful on me if not for the caraway/cumin smell that stays the whole bloody time!!

I get the rose, incense, oud and cinnamon but the caraway overpowers them all and is too much. It also smells like pencil shavings. I guess I will stick with Epic Man after all.

ixcatzin

Very spicy perfume! It was like smelling black pepper. I will have to give it a second chance.

Beth

Epic Woman is an amazingly long lasting perfume--over 12 hours and still going strong! Projection is pretty wide. This is mainly a frankincense/rose/patchouli bomb on my skin. It smells like wealth and opulence, without the ostentatiousness that so often can accompany those traits. I like it and have enjoyed it wafting around me all day, but ever since about the 6-8 hour mark, I'm starting to get a little tired of it. A great value, though, if this type of perfume is your thing; a bottle will last a lifetime.

Olivia Mary

An incredible perfume - my partner says it’s an ecclesiastical scent.. reminds him of all the beautiful aromas of history coming through in one indelible hit. He LOVES it.

For me it’s more a winter fragrance to spice up the cold weather. When I wear it in summer two sprays last for 48 hours or so. Longevity is huge!

dzingunyte

this is very true that weather and temperatures influence how we feel and smell the scent.. when i used it in summer time..it was not as spicy and noticeable as now, when the temperatures went low..and now just a tiny bit of this perfume and i can fell it so spicy...simply mindblowing.. i wonder how it will smell by -10C

Bubbles1964

I’m glad I bought a manufacturers sample because this is one of my least favorite compositions from Amouage. It smells of cumin and spicy curry, creating a kind of food scent I don’t care to smell like. The rose is present but it’s very light.

Good performance all around. So that is one bonus if you happen to enjoy this scent.

Test before you buy. I rarely give completely negative reviews but this scent is polarizing for a reason.

wg_jy

I bought this one for collection purpose. It is an old perfume that put you back in time. Definitely sophisticated, classy. However, I would not say it is timeless. There are old perfume that is timeless. you can put it on and people will not think you smells like granny. This one, really makes me smells like granny. I probably will never wear it outside. I don't know if I would wear it again at all. I am putting it away soon.

edit:
I am in love with this gem!!! 真香!

Annabear

To me this is a muted spicy fragrance, it’s not an in your face oriental. On first application I get the toasted caraway and pencil shavings, not my style of fragrance so I wasn’t impressed at the start. It develops into a quiet and discreet woody amber which I definitely prefer to the opening. Lasted about 4 hours on my skin.

dsmercoco

It's mesmerizing. Soft, slightly powdery but not overly so, soft subdued spices amber with a touch of vanilla. The incense really come through in the middle and then fade but not completely disappear in the background.
It reminds me of Georgia by Robin McGraw. They are very similar in how they smell to my nose. The longevity is incredible 12+ hours. Silage is arms length easy for 4 hours. It's inoffensive, just quality and very well done.

apexa

I got a sample of this along with a bottle of Memoir and it makes sense why I fell in love with this. Both were made by Daniel Maurel. Now I need to get a bottle of this as well! Absolutely beautiful and versatile.

merisier86

This is The Perfume for me, of which I've never had a bottle due to its price. I buy samples every now and then to experience it - it's deep and complex, very long lasting on my skin (and near forever on clothes - it survives washing), oriental, feminine but not girly. The spices, flowers and woods together create something unique - I have yet to find a similar scent. I highly recommend to try a sample - it's a revelation.

Nuitdenoel

Fafnir is a dragon lol

Also, luckily for me, I am not getting stellar performance. It was a skinscent by hour 4. For that much a bottle, as gorgeous as the scent is, I want it to project for a long time.

Kai'elle

@nuitdenoel

I have to ask....what is Fafnir?

Nuitdenoel

A dear Fragrantica scent me a sample of this almost a year ago and I never opened it because I was afraid I would fall in love and a bottle is just so expensive. I opened it today.

Damnit.

It is gorgeous. Roses and spice. I’m going to hoard my sample like Fafnir.

apexa

I bought this as a sample along with a sample of Fate and a bottle of Memoir. I truly love all three but Epic was a blind buy based on reviews and I was truly knocked out by how wonderful it is! It is a great fragrance for those who like the spicy, woody smells of winter but may not want a more stereotypical spring/summer scent. It still exudes this warmness that is great in the day and night that I think works not just in spring/summer but also in the fall/winter! I am tempted to buy a bottle now after this or at least a bigger size because of how gorgeous this scent is.

Kitri

I want this perfume so badly!
Amazing oriental with a hint of rose, longlasting, sexy, pure seduction in a bottle.

rinma

The best ever for me, my ultimate perfume, I love it, the pink pepper corn drives me crazy.
Unfortunately my husband doesn't feel the same, at all...

marchen

When I tried Epic Woman I'll never forget how underwhelmed I was at the first spray, which for some reason with my chemistry was a muted pink pepper melange. I thought I was anosmic to what I expected to be a symphonic opening of notes. Something really amazing happened though, as this fragrance warmed and took hold on my skin- it suddenly cracked open like a flower bursting into bloom. This is one of those cleverly crafted perfumes that is a joy to wear, it takes hours to reveal facet after facet and just when you think it's over you still haven't reached the final form. It isn't something I say lightly considering the full bottle cost but this is well worth the pricetag.

masmoz

*******
Amazing oriental perfume which truely emblems background atmosphere of middle East along history.
all the elements in this perfume (such as caraway, rose, oud ,insence...)which are arranged in an epic manner fantastically exhibiting battles, conquests and all of the interactions between kingdoms and religions emerges from this region along the time.
So the scent and the value of this perfume is further more than what you may see and smell on a glance or be labeled for example "for woman" or etc... ,as a male I feel it is incomparable and far beyond than that amouage epic man (however that one is also a respectful one).I think this must be considered treasured.
*******
This is a real treasure of middle eastern's history.

shushkin

Epic is spot on! The opening is all caraway, rose, incense and tea with oud as the backdrop. Woah! It's breath takingly intense and I love it.
It settles and now you start to detect the cinnamon, other spices and resins. I don't know if it's the geranium and it's affect on the other notes but there is an almost menthol feeling.
I feel like I'm walking through the spice market in Istanbul and then I come across a florists that's full of dark red opulent roses. The spices are so intense that they just won't leave my olfactory senses and so the rose fragrance melts into that spicey memory.
Further along the timeline and the Amber, vanilla and orris root just about surfaces. The sillage retracts to moderate after half an hour.
I love in your face scents so it's definitely my bag. Approach cautiously if you don't normally go for spicebombs. I think a fella could very comfortably wear this. This is definitely a cold weather or evening scent.

venturaspecial

Got this based on reviews, as much as it is not a bad scent, its not for me. On me it smells of flowers full stop, no incense whatsoever, not long lasting for some reason i had to keep reapplying as i was tired of sniffing my skin just to smell it. Gave it away in the end. not my cup of tea! I love incense and amber, this was just flowers and nothing more on me.

MauveLaMarier Aroma

This fragrance was named perfectly! Very much a compliment getter.

bigl4k

My first encounter with Epic was on holiday in Oman. Whenever I wear this perfume I feel like I'm in movie The Jumper and I'm transported back in a zouk in Muscat where the air is filled with frankincense smell. Epic is epic indeed. It's very unique.and mysterious. I can't stop sniffing my wrist when I'm wearing it. It lasts very long. But need to be careful not to overspray. Once, I sprayed too much and a person sat next to me in subway look faint and she had to cover her nose with tissue. Sorry for that.
Being careful not to suffocate someone next to me (LOL) makes 30ml lasts for 2 years now. Two tiny sprays are enough for entire day especially I live in hot country in Asia.

iobhai

You're in Egypt on one of the hottest days of the year, near the desert, standing around in some tall grass that seems to only help you boil under the sun. You're part of your brother's wedding party and you're getting ready to pose for some wedding photos, taking a smoke break. You're reminded of how his bride is obsessed with roses when the florist arrives and starts unpacking them. She hands the rose boutonnieres to you so you can pin them to your suits and she hands the rose bouquets to the bridesmaids, who begin smelling them and breathing in their chilled freshness, hoping it will help them cool down in the heat. Once you're all situated, the photos begin, and you all do your poses for the photographer, trying to stay as still as possible. In that stillness, you notice that there's no breeze, just the heat of the desert, the steaming grass, your uncomfortable sweaty suits, the light cigarette smoke lingering in the air above them, the roses perspiring on them.. but you also notice the sweetness convecting off of the bridesmaids, and you smile. Epic Woman by Amouage.

on the noze

I think this is one of best in the whole 'woman' line.
Has a lovely smoky note which takes a little time to develop.
I had a sample of this for a year but only now have discovered it's beauty.
Really nice deep, cosy floral.
Best for the months I'd say.

Venusia

Full of spices, dark red rose, geranium, a wonderful light vanillated incense I didn't smell in a perfume before.
A scent full of life, strong and long lasting, gorgeously blended. For colder seasons.
Really, it is so alive....I don't get the "coffin issues", yet :))

karrykins

I have to say this is my least favourite of the Amouages, along with Fate (moth balls) and I have a full 100ml bottles of both of them which are never going to get used !

It smells of cumin , it smells of cardamom , it smells of cinnamon - it smells of rank wild garlic and sweat - its nauseating to be around .

Its one of those scents where even I find that there is far too much spice that is cooked into a kind of sweaty curry ,by the heat of a body and it absolutely nothing else to recommend it because nothing can bring it back from the brink of it smelling like stale Indian food . People mention rose - but its not a rose I recognise - I cant detect any rose at all .

I rarely , if ever , would give a scent a wholly negative review , so , I like the bottle , but then, its identical to all the other Amouage bottles but in a different colour .

Sorry , not nice on me or anyone else I've smelled it on .

An Epic "fail" for me .

IndigoEye

I have really been enjoying my sample of this. I get lots of spice, incense and dark rose. There is something sticky and ambery about it wihthout getting anywhere close to sweet.

Very nice indeed. This would be one for cooler weather or evenings, I would think. This is not an everyday scent (which absolutely did not stop me - nor should it stop anyone - from wearing this to do housework) but, it is high impact!

Still testing and getting a feel for this but it is probably my favourite of the Amouage scents I have tried.

Whilst I wouldn't normally comment on this, the emerald green bottle colour is well chosen. There is something fresh and herbal about the scent, resinous, but also dark and velvety green - like a green velvet dress for Christmas.

Cauda Pavonis

A contradiction: tart + green, powder + rose. Epic is a fascinating combination of an almost medicinal astringency squeezing the soft, sweet, Habanita-like powdered rose. Also, the oud here is wonderful, adding a peppery bitterness that harmonizes with the tartness and adds interest to the powdery softness. Despite this green astringency I'd classify this as a big, sweet, powdery rose oriental with a twist. If you're bored of rose + oud check this out for an interesting and beautifully done take on the genre.

genvy

Strange, pink pepper used to be listed. Somebody goofed.

MrsPress

Why isn't pink pepper listed in the notes? It is certainly there. Also, it's cumin that is in this not caraway. Anyway...this is absolutely beautiful! IMHO the best oud, rose combo that I have tried, but so much more than that. It's green, incense (frankincense dominant incense), lots of spice, beautiful rose, oud (of the nonskanky variety), geranium, musk, the tea note is quite prominent in the opening, as is the pink pepper, the softer, sweeter notes like orris and vanilla peek out behind the rose in the dry down...it's a stunner. When my husband complemented me on it over and over, I knew I would be getting a FB. This is a must try, but not a safe blind buy (if there is such s thing). The reviewer a couple before mine, ouch! has a YouTube channel ouch110 fragrance reviews...his review of this one is spot on.

ayh210

Really spicy caraway cinnamon, the intense spiciness lasts for about 30 minutes on my skin, but then leads to a rosy oudh sprinkled with pink pepper that does a bit of dance back and forth on who takes the lead - pink pepper or oudh?

Definitely unusual, and not something to wear if you want to be warm and cuddly, but rather when you want to command attention and respect like at a board meeting.

I asked my husband for his opinion on this and he tends to prefer floral fragrances on me, but not rosy big vintage fragrances that he describes as "old." I was surprised to find that he really liked this one!

8/10

Ouch!

Breathtaking! What an absolutely wonderful assault on the senses. This is the epicenter of Amouage and it's what they stand for. If you only ever smelled one Amouage and it was this? You would have an immediate feel for what their aesthetic is. This is an oriental of the highest degree!

This opens as an extremely complex rush of green/resinous incense, dry spices, roasted wood and crisp rosy florals.
There is a a deep freshness (if that's even a thing). Dry cumin that never turns to body odour mingled with ancient wind and whiff of smoke in the distance.

I'm not sure why Caraway is listed as a note as there is no mention of it on Amouage's website. There is a plethora of spicy notes in here however that feel old, kinda dry and a bit minty. SO many aromas that your nose needs 10 nostrils haha.

The drier stages see this fragrance turn sharper yet rosier still. Geranium and damascus rose team up to make a green rosey aroma (especially in the air)

The spices calm down after a while and simmer in the background which let the florals take over. It continuously stays on the cusp of fresh/spicy/resinous.

The fact of the matter is, it's so beautifully complex and spectacular that there are a million ways to describe it. You just gotta smell it.

amanda7

All I can feel is just a lot of caraway, no roses or tea. After a long waiting there are more flowers. But the beginning is very intensive and for me unpleasant. I wanted some cinnamon which I love, but no.

redskyatnight

Epic Woman is outta this world in creativity and enjoyability - for the right person. I never would have though that caraway and rose would have such an enchanting pull on me. The drydown is sweet, piquant, and incensy, and combined with the rosy caraway the effect is much like cleansing your palate with candied caraway seeds after a delectable meal in a dimly lit, softly incensed room. It comes just short of smelling like a stale spice cabinet on my skin; I'm always wary of heavy coriander, cardamom, or caraway doing this, but it remains light and true on my skin chemistry. Epic can be intimidating, enveloping, somewhere in between, or everything at once depending on the individual. It is for the daring woman who is aware of her sensuality and asserts her individuality, inviting few chosen ones into her inner circle but giving them a warm welcome and a safe haven. Epic is not for the faint of heart, but for wearers of Coco, Opium, and Shalimar. It is one of the top 5 femme fatale fragrances as far as I'm concerned.

Soofiya

I was never interested in testing Amouage epic as I saw couple of my most hated notes in it:oud, incense, olibanum but after trying and loving memoir with dozens of even more hated notes,I decided to give fair chances to all Amouages,a right decision.
Amouage epic opens sharp and spicy, too much caraway and pink pepper for me to like and something like menthol,I can detect tea from the first second which is one of my favorite perfume notes but caraway explusion doesn't let me to really enjoy it.give it some time and you will be rewarded with a super gorgeous aura of velvety rose softly spiced by cinnamon, wrapped up in a subtle dark green scent of tea and patchouli
As time passes amber, vanilla and a hint of subtle woody notes start to take over the scent and round sharp edges of spices and tea/patchouli leaves.incense shows up in drydown and it's more subtle that what I had expected but still,I wish it wasn't there
Thanks goodness I can't detect oud at all.olibanum and patchouli are also too smooth to bother me so I find myself liking middle stage and drydown of epic.a real oriental rose with some spices, green earthy notes, incense and woods to give it Amouage complexity
I also admire this perfume's character:It's memorable without being loud or showy.smells rich and sophisticated but at the same time feels soothing and humble
I expected to hate this fragrance but I don't.I even like it a lot but I have to try it more before deciding whether I need it in my collection or not as it's really expensive and I need to love a perfume to justify spending this much on it and I'm also scared of the incense which sometimes really stands out to my nose But if you're into real orientals you have to give it a try.you don't need to be a rose or oud lover to like it

Arlene-Beatrix

It'a all about incense, deep, pleasant, relaxing incense. Top noes are quite intense but after a while it's soft, oriental, warm fragrance, perfect for cold season.

Mohd93

I really like this scent even though I normally dislike spicy scent.

I definitely smell Caraway and Rose which surprisingly a nice combination, and the incense is prominent and smooth. I don't detect any Oud is this, fortunately, since I really dislike Oud. The spiciness isn't harsh in this, it's starts out a little sharp but mellows down very nicely.

It's strong, but not as strong (in terms of sillage and projection) as other fragrances from the brand such as Myths or Memoir.

tiababy

One of the few amouages I like, a beautiful spicy rose. But if you're willing to spend the money, there are much better spicy oud rose fragrances on the market! To name a few- Kilian Oud Rose, Guerlain Rose Nacree, or for far less money- EL Amber Mystique or Al Haramain Al Kaaba. After trying these other perfumes I wouldn't buy this, but would wear it if I got it as a gift.

NZFH

Opulent oriental onslaught....the opening of Epic Woman is possibly even more densely-packed, intense and complex than Epic Man's! It is hard for the mind to work out exactly what is going on. It's a heady whirl-wind of oriental spices, roses, and god knows what else.

I do get the famous pickle/gherkin note in the opening minutes, although it is relatively fleeting. Yes it can be distracting. Personally I think the Tea note (in combination with Guaiac Wood, etc) is at least partly responsible. Provides another point of interest though.

Overall, the tart piquancy of this fragrance intrigues me and appeals to me. This quality really helps to balance out the sweeter notes.

It's not a fragrance that really screams "I am a woman's perfume." It's too sour and woody for that. Definitely unisex. The drydown especially.

I think I prefer the drydown of Epic Woman and the opening of Epic Man. However they are both incredible - and yes, Epic - fragrances.

Tigerlillian

For lovers of dark, woody roses like Lancome Magnifique, Dior Midnight Poison (both discontinued), JHAG Lady Vengeance, and Montale Red Aoud, Amouage Epic will surely ensnare you.

Epic is a dense, rose-oud beauty warmed with sweet incense, radiant amber and velvety patchouli.

Rose is beautifully present and soft oud is secondary along with incense, but balanced with rose in good measure. So for those of you who typically don't like oud, don't shy away from Epic.

I clearly recogize geranium, a softer, herbal iteration of deep red roses, steeped in a humbling vanilla and plush sandalwood.

Caraway is gorgeous and brings a very soft, spicy, anise-like breeze. No body-funk cumin here! Just clean layers of deep aromatics.

If you have one of the fragrances aforementioned, you probably won't need Epic. But if you don't and are seeking a beautifully balanced rose/wood/oud aura to bathe in, add this gorgeous emerald bottle to your collection without hesitation.

I hesitated a Long time before I decided to write this review. How can I put into words a scent that moves me so, captures my heart and transports my soul? I first came across Epic Woman in an upmarket perfume store 4 years ago. I was already 'initiated' into the niche perfume industry by then with a few bottles of Annick Goutal. Amouage Memoir and Epic caught my intense interest but I never made the plunge to buy a full bottle because of the price. A $300plus fragrance was just not within my reach at that time.

Fast forward 4 years later, I casually picked up an old sample vial of Epic W from Luckyscent that I had suppressed from my memory and took a desultory sniff. The strange obsessive desire to have it gripped me once again. Within a few days, I had bought my full bottle. And it was a matter of walking into the same store, going right up to the Amouage section, and pointing it out, "I'm here to buy THAT."

After sniffing so many niche scents, Amouage Epic W still remains my absolute favourite fragrance. On my skin, this is Creamy Caraway with very good quality Oud. The oud here is of the same deep herbaceous medicinal quality as Mona di Orio's Oudh Osmanthus. And the caraway here is NOTHING like cumin. There is no curry sweaty note here. Just the most beautiful Caraway. I used to use a very expensive shampoo from an exclusive Shu Uemura Art of Hair series called Shusu Sleek. That has the same Caraway note and left my hair emitting an aura of ethereal fragrance after wash.

If our signature and favorite perfumes are links to our past lives, Epic definitely bridges my soul to a heartbreakingly sweet episode in a bygone era. One which tells of a great sacrificial love, forgotten by time but relived in a scent.

Livsiv

Maybe its just on my skin, but had to go clean it off. Smells like insect spray.

Janebear

Oh my what a beauty! Just received my first Amouage. I deliberated for a week (blind buy!! - mad I know considering but it was a special offer and I do get a kick out of frag roulette). I'm extremely happy with my choice - Epic is divine. Whilst I wear heavy perfumes at any time of the day and really don't care if I 'knock out' my work colleagues - Epic is a perfect day / night creation. Whilst it's a strong smell, it's not overbearing or cloying, certainly not headache creating. I'm loving it, I'm sat here enjoying being enveloped in what is to my mind everso slightly medicinal fragrance yet extremely comforting. The initial pepper spray I don't like, but it's gone in a few seconds, then it becomes everso Perles de Lalique but with staying power!!! Plus you definitely detect the Oudh undertone. As I run my nose up and down my arm (my work colleagues are giving me funny looks), I'm marveling at how beautifully blended this perfume is - woodsy, slightly spicey, rose and oudh. I cannot get my beloved Midnight Poison anymore, PDL was an attempt at filling that gap in my collection but it has zero staying power. This is PDL moving to MP - smooth, beautiful, divine - I'm in love.

Code1ne

Epic is beautiful and versatile, some call it polarizing but I see it as a crowd pleaser. The sillage is not disappointing (contrary, I think it's perfect for this fragrance) but it's not strong either. Longevity is great. I wasn't sure if I loved this or just liked it at first, but I found myself craving it until I used up my sample (within a few days), so I now think it's worth buying a full bottle despite the exorbitant price. Epic is not challenging if you like spicy rose perfumes, it's smooth and full-bodied, on the dry side, and unique within the spicy rose category. I don't get much oud, so I really do mean spicy rose, and not oudy rose. Overall though, the rose stands out on me more than anything. Epic got me compliments, my boyfriend loves it, and it's a perfume I could see myself wearing very frequently. I really like Amouage, but if I'm being honest, I don't think all of their perfumes reflect their price tag. Epic does though, it's very, very well done. I don't usually find myself missing a sample as much as I'm missing this one. Kudos Amouage, my hard earned $300 will probably be yours at some point soon. I still kind of hate the price a LOT but I want to smell like this, often.

"EPIC WOMAN"

Does anybody know whether it has any similarities to Le Labo Rose 31?

I see some complaints about suspicious reformulation here, basically for poor longevity and weak sillage, well, what I can tell is my 15 batch(with magnetic cap) is very long lasting and a heavy scent, a little goes a long way(2 sprays last whole day). Plus, on my perfume-eating skin. I have no idea of so-called "old formula" since I don't have one, maybe they smell different, but to be objective and intuitive, this scent is stronger and more long-lasting than my most other non-magnetic cap Amouages, such as Lyric, Jubilation, Dia. It stands near Ubar the floriental bomb, definitely a compliments getter, though not a sillage monster.
While I do find current version of Gold is watered down, both longevity and sillage are not satisfing, and there are many discussions of Amouage reformulations, but nothing is absolutely right. Just give it a try.

I was wondering around an Australian department store called David Jones, in Australia it's one of the nicer ones. I came upon this wee table with nichè perfumes. At first I smelt Black Jade by Lubin and then I came across the Amouage range.
I smelt a few and very quickly put them down, then I came across this dark green bottle, i held it up to my nose and was instantly intrigued....So i sprayed a little bit on my wrist. At first I smelt a very heavy smell of pine and thought, I'd made a mistake in trying this one. Then about 3 minutes later, I put my nose to my wrist again and this hypnotic, warm, woody and sensuous smell came to me. I was hooked!

I found out the price and thought, it was too much and walked away.
All day, I found myself drawn to my wrist and this beautiful warm smell that intoxicated me everytime I smelt it.
For months I have gone and smelt other perfumes and even Chanel smells 'cheap' and 'common'.

Today I went to Libertine and perfumery boutique in Brisbane. I took my husband with me.... I told the lady I think I am in love with epic woman and she proceeded to tell me that I have fallen in love with one of the best perfumes in the world.
She also told me each bottles perfume takes years to make and is 33% real oils. So, not only is it beautiful but it's also pure and not full of chemicals.

My husband and I spent over an hour on a journey to our senses and she introduced me to other perfumes ... oriental and beautiful, yet as far as skin chemistry goes. Nothing hit the mark for me as much as Epic. It makes me feel amazing just wearing it, sexy, womanly and unique.
Even my husband, who never would ever spend that much on a 'smell' was converted - although it was a Creed that he fell in love with. For myself, he loved the Epic woman too and is purchasing my bottle this week :)

I am 100% converted to the world of niche fragrance and I simple adore Epic woman. It is definitely for a woman who likes her woody, orientals... A woman who knows herself and is confident to go out and wear something different. But be prepared for people to ask you what you are wearing and it's up to you if you want to tell them :)

emily7

Nothing Epic, at least about my 2014 batch.

Top notes are great as I remember from the old formula, but 20 minutes later - no sillage, no longevity, nothing really except maybe a faint trail of what it used to be once upon a time...
Such a tragedy, really. This used to be such a spectacular perfume, breathtaking. Back then I couldn't afford it, now it's not worth getting.
I'm heartbroken.
Then again, it's really grotesque to think about how Amouage percieves EPIC - 20 min max.

Edit: Got myself an older batch ;) yay!

Gigi The Fashionista

I suppose it sounds more PC to call it Epic Woman than Oriental Woman. This fragrance is a beauitful green Oriental oud fragrance. Lots of oud. The kind of oud I like. It smells like the kind of scents I've been wearing lately in winter time like Rose Taif, Persian Rose Mystic Oud, etc. This is a smoky rose. The incense and rose combination is very well done. It opens with spices of caraway pepper and cinnamon. The jasmine and tea are in the heart along with the rose note. Floral enough to be a woman's perfume but these are not sweet florals. They're spiced up and on fire with incense and olibanum, warm and perfumy in the Oriental sense. Smells luxurious and super expensive especially when it dries down to that agar wood which dominates the scent. There is a light touch of vanilla but it's mostly woods that you wear for days. I love it and wished they had also added a musk note or leather. But this is more on the feminine side as it is the equivalent to Epic Man. This smells wonderful elegant and seductive. Very aromatic and amorous. I can only wear this in cold weather but also to get someone hot for me.

Fabulous Kevin

My new signature scent. It smells so deep and mysterious on my skin, all notes are well-balanced. TIMELESS & DIVINE!!!

Epic Woman is one of my favorite Amouage, it feels like all a very soothing, warm and almost minty eucalyptus similar to Oriental rich but drier, semi-linear, always near the border with the medicinal but never surpass.

Spices are responsible for providing a very hot point although note tea and rich and opulent woods are the trendsetters of the odor of Epic: Oud, guaiac, sandalwood and patchouli mark the thickness of the fragrance that joined the smoky note of an excellent incense modulates assembled a rich aroma background and pink.

Drying, fantastic, leaves you wanting more, is topped with amber, vanilla and musk and acts as a catalyst that purifies all this amalgam becoming this all in perfect unison and Oriental aroma.

Epic perfectly embodies that sense of luxury and sophistication of perfumes in the Middle East without prearranged sex.

Interlude is woody spicey, while Epic is woody aldehyde, that Chanel no. 5 aldehyde. Epic's dominance notes is still cumin, the aldehyde comes next.

Interlude is the strong version, like perfume wore by nasty boss or superior, it's nasty and strong, you can smell from meters away. While Epic is softer, office friendly. It's rather a unisex perfume.

I do like Epic for women. It's a nice woody scent that's quite pleasant. However, along with the Epic sample, I received an Amouage Interlude sample. Compared to Interlude, Epic is a bland forgettable wallflower. Interlude has it going on with a smoky sharp incense note to it that projects much better and is much more memorable. Given a choice between the two, I would definitely go for the Interlude over Epic. Interlude pops while Epic is merely nice.

Gorgeous. I swear I can smell some boozy notes reminiscent of amaretto here (impossible of course, considering its origin:). It's wonderfully composed of oily, rich olibanum and amber and sweet dry woods against a lush green and flower background. I especially like the salty scent that peeks through discretely balancing out all the sweetness.

Green tea adds wonderful freshness to an otherwise heavy palette. I think that it is the heavy presence of this note that makes epic such an unusual fragrance.

So so good. Totally worth the price if you are willing to splash out.

EDIT: It layers BRILLIANTLY with Chanel 19.

After exhaustively researching all of the Amouage perfumes on this site, I decided to treat myself to an early Xmas present and bought a 12 x 2ml sampler set of the women's range. Mmmmm, I think I made a good call as I find my self lovingly caressing the box of precious vials every time I pass it and deeply inhaling the top of the box to experience an olfactory diorama of all Amouage has to offer......OK, back on topic and to EPIC...When I was reading the reviews I prayed that this particular scent would smell damn good on me (excuse atrocious grammar) as it had all my favourite notes....and...thanks be to God....... it does!!!!! Right from the get go too, no weird or mad Vicks vapour rub notes.. a blast of rose and caraway (loved my Mam's caraway seed cake as a kid) right from the beginning, drying down to a very sexy almost boozy amber/vanilla. This, along with LYRIC is my Xmas perfume, can't wait to wear it out on the town (up to now have only worn it in my PJs while catching up on The Affair, The Good Wife and the Knick so can't comment on its sillage but it has 12h+ intoxicating longevity) LOVE !!!!!!

amirali0072000

This is definitely a high class scent.
The base notes are all detectable and intertwined and delicious. especially the woman's variant..Very interesting...I love it!

right away i get roses, spices and earthy-woody notes, then it gets more musky as time wears on and i sense the tea in this along with the incense. epic changes from moment to moment as more of the notes bloom on the skin.

people mention the caraway-dill pickle element but i am not getting it. this does not smell anything but deep, beautiful and warm. the woods and incense in this are absolutely gorgeous. i'd have to say this is an instant love for me and it just gets increasingly beautiful as time goes on. it brings to mind a woman in a blood red dress walking on a sand dune- like something out of an (epic) film.

Does it really cost 205 british pounds per bottle??? The world has gone crazy...

About five years ago I was sitting in my neighborhood cocktail bar in the lower east side of Manhattan when this girl sat next to me wearing the most unbelievable perfume. I had to know what it was so I could have it for myself! When I asked her, I could tell she didn't want to tell me. She simply said, "it's in a green bottle". Grrrr I hate competitive women! So I kept bothering her and finally she told me "it's called epic". I became obsessed with finding it and I located it and bought it immediately. This is where the sad story of skin chemistry comes into play. On me it's all caraway all the way down for hours. a note that was barely noticeable on another woman is literally all you can smell on me. Sigh. But I have to thank Epic because it is the perfume that started me on my fragrance journey. It was the way epic smelled on that girl that led me to explore other fragrances and has made my life far more delicious.

olorami

This is an exquisite Amouage perfume. Describing it in brief: Epic Woman is a very oriental rose perfume. It is a smokey, woody, and a spicy rose that reminds me of Perles de Lalique when it dries down and has great longevity when wearing it.

Epic Woman is a perfume with an accurate title, as it is made for a woman like that. If my description was not enough an I had to describe it with a song, it would be Desert Rose by Sting and Cheb Mami.

This Desert Rose
Each of her veils, a secret promise
This desert flower
No sweet perfume ever tortured me more than this........

muzzbait

deep, dense and distinct.

look, personally i don't like it. however i can appreciate the artistry and skill required to create this scent. for me, it sits alongside fate women for unstomachable. but that's just me.

i hate coffee (the drink), but i can appreciate the 'art' behind it. you don't need to like something to appreciate it, and this is one such occasion.

this a thick, spicy, green and rust-meets-steel kinda accord. i don't like it, but i can see what the perfumer is trying to achieve. maaan...it's harsh, but if you can pull it off, then go for it. it lasts forever, too...

myra83

i purchase my 4th bottle today... a bit dispointed waterydown smell exactly same but longevity too poor for wellknown epic women... this is version 2015 with magnetic cap. i plan to change to extraict de perfume now amouage out new extraict de parfume 100ml just add cost more 35 usd from extraict 50ml price.. more worthy.. guys please let me know here if you experianced with epic extraict de perfume from your opinion

melancholybaby

A lightly spicy opening, fading into a deep rose with whiffs of occasional citrus. Strangely, reminds me of Aedes de Venusta Oeillet Bengal....

naomi.scott

The opening is deep and lovely, rosy, spicy and I enjoyed it. But the heart and base was all bitter geranium on my skin, which I associate with mosquito repellant - almost exactly the same as the way FM Portrait of a Lady turned on my skin. Not for me sadly.

garamascara

Epic Woman smells a whole helluva a lot like Gres Cabaret and costs like 300 times as much.

AveParfum

After testing Epic many times over the past couple of years, and after writing at least two previous reviews because of some uncertain confusion, I can now say with certainty that I know what the confusion is. Epic was reformulated. It all makes sense now as to why my sample from years ago smelled a lot like Flowerbomb--very strong with lots of vanilla and synthetics (if you look at Amouage's website, Epic is their only perfume listed under their own "Aldehydes" category, and they specifically mention that aldehydes are synthetics). Fast forward a couple of years and the perfume now smells like woody vanilla blended with dill pickles. The creamy vanilla and woods are so wonderful, and the dill note does calm down with time to smell faintly of toasted caraway seeds; just not quite enough. I know for absolute certainty that I never smelled any dill pickle note in my first (large) sample of Epic--and it was a sample directly from Amouage. The old version smelled too synthetic to me, so either way, new or old, Epic does not work for me.

peppermoon

I tested this against Histoires de Parfums "1876", which is very similar. Notes in common - rose, caraway, cinnamon, musk, sandalwood. They are both soft clouds of warmly spiced rose, musk and incense. They both have quality ingredients and smell very natural. I found the Amouage to be a fresher, more watery rose scent. The Histoires was warmer and more complex on my skin, and it has a lovely juicy litchi note. If given a choice between the two, I'd go for the Histoires version.

amidwestheart

Unfortunately this is hideous on me. Caraway for days, pepper on top and a little bit of rose. I was hoping it would turn out better on me!

chickenpotpie

Epic for me is Roses, Incense smoke, and pickles. lol Caraway has always had a dill pickle like smell to me. yes I know, unfortunate but apparently if I smell enough caraway in a perfume, its what I end up with.

If I didn't smell like pickles half the day with it on, I would have seriously considered it, because the other notes are really fantastic.

A definite try before buying fragrance.

hippiechick13

I was met with a sense of familiarity upon trying this honey. There's a bit of a raspberry sodastream note to it that I really love, yet smoke, rose and spice.

A woman moves along a dusty, dimly lit street. Many colourful bangles chanting at her wrists. Whispers of metal in the the blazing sun gold necklace clasping her throat. She makes music where she walks. Long, flowing, feminine and unusual, breath taking, vibrantly coloured, silks and linen and patterns, moving with easy grace. The insides of her wrists and the nape of her throat smell of Epic Woman. Intimate, womanly, organic, unforgettable, amazing, warm, luscious, beautiful, haunting.

Epic..

This was my gateway into the women's collection of Amouage. My goodness! I couldn't have picked a better one to start with. I was so curious after being blown away by Epic Man that I eventually couldn't help myself. I normally don't like a lot of cumin in my perfume. But in Epic Woman, it is so well-blended into the composition that I can't help but to love it.

It lasts forever by itself. So just imagine how epic the sillage and longevity is when combined with the body lotion. I've only worn this twice. But both times were marked by anyone around me getting closer and closer. The scent trail is more magnetic than the caps on the flacons. As much as I can appreciate this on a woman, it's absolutely at home on my skin and I feel like a sophisticated savage when I wear it.

I'd go as far as to state that both Epic Man and Epic Woman can be worn comfortably by both genders. So I feel sorry for the guy who isn't comfortable with wearing Epic Woman.

muzzbait

this one has a buttery-acidic sharpness to it that makes it 'love it or hate it'. there's some woodiness in this too, which, for most of the time, is quite mute but also sometimes feels too strong. whilst this is billed as a woman's scent, i feel i would comfortably wear it if it suited me more. as a result, it's just too *something* for mine, but amazing nonetheless...
